I like that you can create your own background but the quality of the image isn't good (at least for me)

really love this app. would be able to keep my puppy photo in the background. also easier to switch to light or dark theme <3 thank you for volunteering your time to maintain this app

Hi Patrick. People are saying the extension isn't working because they cannot see the save button at the bottom of the screen which you need to zoom out to see. If you could format the display to be smaller so that the save button isn't hidden it should be easier for people to grasp

I love love love the feature! Google should already have this. I just have a few suggestions and observations 1) To add a blur background image feature (sometimes too much information on screen and in the background makes the app hard to use) 2) To make all of the buttons match. Usually, the buttons change to white or black depending on bg brightness. However, the "Today" button, the nine dots in the corner, several text box features, and the dates remain grey. It makes it hard to read them 3) Sometimes there is lag when changing months in the calendar (eg going from June to July on month view), so the items clip Thank you for making this extention!

Thank you for a good extension! A feature request though: it would be great for a possibility to upload your own image file. It is possible to store an image in base64 in your local browser storage, if you don't exceed 4194304 bytes.

Does nothing ..... I get he says to use a URL with the .JPG or .PNG on it ... great then how say in Google Photos do I get that URL? You keep giving us your FLICKR example how about Google photos or other common image sites. Thanks

Not As Advertised(?) For those in hopes of a customized image in the background of their GCalendar, this is not the app you think it is based on the "custom" referred to in the title. It will allow custom specification to the hex code on the google calendar page, but that's as far as it goes.

please allow users to customize their chosen image, like move it up and down or side to side, so that people can use it however they want. thank you.

You have to use ones it gives you. Customization does't work at all.

It doesn't work, I unfortunately seem to have the same problem as multiple users below - I'm saving the actual url of the selected background following the instructions in the previous replies (the background even shows in the extension after saving) but no changes to the calendar background.

This is very cool in theory, but it didn't work for me at all. I tried linking to a photo and nothing changed.

I am so frustrated. It just doesn't work!!!!! I have tried and tried, read reviews, instructions...everything. This app just doesn't work. Low-key frustrated

i love it!!! my only minor issue is that if dark overlay is on, the text is white over a white background when you're putting something on the description

I have never found a more confusion extension. I submitted the URL of my image but it does not load. Tried multiple links, still doesn't work. It will only shows the pre-selected images that they have. Maybe it's a bug but I got too frustrated and uninstalled. Maybe you can let me know once you fix the issue. UPDATE: I was able to get it to work thanks to Patrick's help.

THANK YOU! I needed something, anything, other than the stark "im doing work right now" white bg, and I love the stock that you put. Though I have a question, if I wanted to add my own, what aspect ration of the image would be best to use? Thank you again, great "quality of life" style add-on.

I can't upload a screenshot, but whenever I try to custom the background, it shows a screen with a chinese writing and nowhere to edit, add a link or change the gcal background.

I like this extension! It makes the google calendar a lot prettier. I was wondering if anybody had figured out how to stop it from zooming in too much and going blurry when you add your own image, or if there is a preferred resolution for these images?

I love the concept but after a couple weeks of using this, suddenly my event details were not legible when I popped open a box. All the text had turned to white and I couldn't read anything. Upon turning off the plugin, everything appeared normal again.

It has started to work again after the image problems, however, I noticed that ever since the image came back, I have had some problems with Chrome. It started to close itself, to check if it was the extension, I had to delete it for a couple of days and after that, the problem was resolved. Please fix this problem because I love this extension.

Works like charm! After sending one too many emails/calendar invites from my work gmail instead of personal, I needed to differentiate the two. CLUTCH!

It worked well for a few months, but now it no longer loads anything, and it removed the image from my background.

Stopped working today :( Was great! But now there is no image, and when I click on extensions it says on the menu that it doesn't need access to the page despite it saying it has access to calendar.google.com when I click on the actual extension. Hope this is helpful in fixing the issue! EDIT: issue has been fixed! its back and working better than before!

ext was working wonderfully well and awesome, until like a week ago. it seems like no solution i can refer to. Now my calendar back to dull. can developer do somthing?

it's good to have but it's not perfect. The picture is a little blurred so you can't see the whole picture. If I have my calendar in Month I can't see the days properly because it's in white and I can't change that. Took me a while to look for a good background that let's me see color and still read everything.

This extension is especially helpful now that it seems Google has disabled themes for the calendar. Thanks!

So long as you have an img url, it is awesome. No upload support I can see. Make sure to refresh after applying changes. Recommend pixabay.com if you are looking for free img url's.

I love how easy this is, but no matter what I do it only shows the one picture as a background. I cannot get it to show the rest of the months as I flip through my calendar

Adding the background image is awesome. However, since I am unable to change font color, most images it is hard to read the calendar. I guess I just have to find the right image to allow all text on the calendar to be easily read.

I added a gif image of snow falling and it actually works on the background of Google Calendar! I love it! Thank you!

Does anyone know what aspect ratio / resolution I need to add so photos won't blur? I tried to use a hubble photo of the Pleiades, but it just wound up zooming in and cropping it as a blurry photo.

I love it but wish there was a way to not have that haze covering the pic, I want to see my Hubble pic in all its glory.

Fantastic extension. Really brightens up the bland white background with any picture that you feel is typical of the current month. Thank you for allowing me to adjust my calendar backgrounds to suit the seasons of the year.

This is wonderful. It has resolved the new Google calendar problem that I could no longer download my background image. Once installed go to any image , Right click, Copy Image Address and Paste it to the current month of your calendar, save and Whala!!!

This is for those who hate the blurry "new" look of GCal. With the right image, you can get more definition in the display of events. Experiment.
