I just discovered Mote but I do look forward to using it in all areas of my synchronous and asynchronous teaching.

An excellent service and the best solution I've found to insert audio in Google Sheets

I teach Spanish and English as second languages. I was looking for an easy way to add my voice to Google Slides -- MOTE was the answer!! I have been burned by other extensions -- but MOTE was easy and intuitive and did exactly what I wanted. Being able to record and add the audio on the same page makes my life so much easier. When I share slides with my students, they can access my voice for listening practice in the language they are studying.

There are so many Apps for creating and learning that trying to decide which one/s you need can make your head spin. Well, I have finally found the one that I can NOT live without...My head IS STILL spinning...but it's because I am in LOVE with MOTE! I love this extension. I've been wanting something like this for ages. I work with disabled and often neurodiverse learners. Being able to record voice notes so that they can access the text as spoken language really supports greater learning. I haven't found out yet how to add it to a published Google Site but am hoping I can also do this. I've just added Voice notes to my Google forms and its a game changer!

Asynchronous communication is heralded with audio file embed into the number one email platform for businesses which is Gmail. The Mote program meets that need better than anything I have demoed. It's inexpensive for how much power it gives you, when you think about it. It works very quickly it's beautiful it's impressive and I am able to clean out my email inbox in fractions of the time and I particularly suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome, the typing is painful which makes work painful until I found Mote. A list to say I am thrilled to give you a five star review because you deserve it

great app! super easy to use to give students' feedback on their work, especially when you have a lot to say but don't want to take the time to type it all out. think it gives a nice personal touch, too.

I have been using Mote for a few years now and I don't know what I would do without it. Before feedback was in the form of written by hand, then we went digital and it was typed in boxes down the side of work or summatively at the end. There are also extensions for leaving videos of you can use, but there really isn't added value by that, the key thing is that they hear what you are saying. So, to Mote itself. I trialled the free version and liked it so much I got my college to pay for the extended 3 minute version. You simply add the extension to your Google Drive and then you can attach voice memos across all types of student work from Google Slides, to Google Docs, in Google classroom etc. I absolutely love it, I leave so many spread across their work and it takes 1/4 of the time of typing and spell checking comments. They get to hear your voice, which they all say makes it more human and takes out the possibility of misinterpreting your comments, and they can play them as many times as they want. They can then leave replies back to you. It's such a great app.

Only started using this today, wish I'd known about it a few months ago. Such a time saver.

I am so grateful to my colleague for sending me this link. It has been wonderful to put in those messages to students while correcting or posting work out to them. I appreciate this uncomplicated method of reaching my students and I know that they have appreciated it as well.

I have been waiting for this capability on Google Slides for the longest time. It's finally here. It's so much nicer to be able to record an audio note and insert it directly into Slides. It made my workflow so much more streamlined. Thank you!

This was the exact extension I was looking for. I use it to record short audio notes for myself after sessions and it gives me a quick way to save my thoughts until I can return and put them into writing when I have more time to type them up.

As FSL teacher, currently working remotely to teach my students; still new to the French language, it gives students a better opportunity to listen to what I am saying, even after class, when I'm not with them. The audio is easy to add, click on and listen to as often as needed. The fact that you can use it on a multitude of writing platforms that I engage with my students; including the option for translation for my ELL students, is amazing and super helpful.

It works - the only criticism is I cannot use it on an Android phone - if I could I'd use it all the time - so much easier/faster to record a reply to most email

Originally I was in LOVE with Mote. It made distance learning so much better. It allowed me to provide resources for my students who had difficulty reading. I was able to add voice notes to help them with read alouds and provide them with feedback. It was also nice that students were able to utilize the voice memos as well to show their understanding of certain topics. The reason for the low rating is the fact that now Mote limits how many voice memos can be created a month. Only 20 voice memos per month. I sometimes go through 20 voice memos for just one assignment. It is just frustrating because Mote was such an amazing resource but now I will need to find another.

It's an awesome resource to use with my students with Google Slides.

I used my class time helping individual students with their essays before I discovered the "Mote". Now I use Mote to give them voice comments and use my class time more efficiently. I also felt that voice comments are easier to understand than written comments.

This is such a great feedback tool for students; I especially love how it integrates with Google Docs and Classroom so I can leave feedback in different places according to need.

I like this google extension. It used to work just fine. Lately, the voice extension on google keeps thinking, and most of the time does not save the audio file. And today I am getting this message on google slides "This is a Powerpoint file and doesn't support Mote for Google Slides". Although it is actually a google slides and I have been using mote on this file since I installed the extension.

I think something essential to add is an animation inside the mote button when it's in a google slide. Like if instead of just a static button it was a waveform I think that would be very helpful visually to see that something is happening. Also, this plug-in is slow. I realise that it's still in early stages and not perfected technology, so that's fine. But in the future I'd like to see this extension becoming instant fast. P.S: If you could add double clicking the mote icon to play the mote, I think that would be really cool.

In these challenging times I was looking for a better way to communicate with my students. I found that using Mote has greatly increased my ability to provide meaningful and more thorough feedback while the same time minimizing my workload to do the same. Feedback from the students is positive, and they seem to really enjoy a conversation about their papers versus just a short textual critique.

Helps a lot in teaching languages as I record my pronunciation so students could listen and repeat after me!

This has reduced my work load to a great extent. I guide undergrads and master's level dissertation students and since the time I adopted MOTE for feedback it has not only enhanced my workflow but also my learners feel more connected to me with my voice feedback. I Found mote helpful, but I need more than 30 seconds to give comments. Might stop using it because its so limited.

I really like Mote! It has saved me so much time and the fact that the students can hear your voice and tone makes feedback easier for them to understand. They can access their feedback on any device which has worked out well. It is a shame that the translation is not part of the free package as this would be useful for ESOL students. I would highly recommend this.

I love Mote! More importantly, parents are reporting that their children do too! Many of my children come from non-English speaking homes - Mote allows me to record the names of the pictures for them, directions, etc.

As a high school teacher I cannot recommend this tool enough. Mote has been transformational for me in giving feedback, especially during lockdown when I cannot give face to face feedback. Mote has just been so quick and easy to use, and my students have responded so positively to it that it has become integral to how I work.

Love this. Makes it really easy to add voice recording to documents or slides. Also really valuable for leaving verbal feedback for pupils during this period of learning from home. Important for them to have a bit of familiarity through hearing their teacher's voice.

This extension is very reliable! I can totally express what I want to say on my feedback to my students. I highly recommend this one. I do hope that if they will update this extension, there would be an option to pause the recording so as to not start all over again.

Mote is saving my time, my fingers and my sanity! My pupils enjoy hearing the voice notes that I leave and react more positively to the recorded feedback than they do to written. The transcript is nonsense. That is a clear thing that needs to be improved. However, the audio is OK.

As a teacher working remotely (in the UK), this has been a wonderful way to share feedback with students. It is remarkably easy to use, has reduced workload, and offered me a way to provide detailed feedback in a person way. Well worth checking out! The free trial is very generous too.

I like this but not sure I'm using it correctly. I can add voice notes to my slides to explain the work but when I share the slides on Google Classroom the voice comments are not there. Any ideas?

Discovered this Chrome Extension by accident and I'm glad I did! I am using it to give feedback to my remote learners on Google Classroom and they love it. Teaching is all about relationships and this gives that personal touch. Children and their families love it and it SAVES ME TIME! Winner!

This has been so great, especially for giving feedback to my young learners who can listen to me give feedback, rather than having to wait for their adult to read back typed feedback.

Mote is an amazing tool! It has halved my workload and I've only been using it a few days. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has to leave feedback. It is quick and easy to do.

Would've been fab if it would actually work for me.. I spend 1 minute talking to mark my students work and then after a minute it decides to just stop working and delete itself. This isn't a one off problem either it is continuous and is infuriating and time consuming

I have only just started using this but it has made a HUGE difference to my work - I think one tends to leave much more specific and targeted feedback. In addition, as an MFL teacher, it is really helpful for speaking and pronunciation feedback.

This is great - I am able to feedback to my students quickly and am able to convey a tone in my feedback! I worry that with written feedback, there is a danger of it sounding negative, but this solves that problem

I absolutely love Mote - it is exactly what I've been looking for. It's a quick, simple and effective way to leave audio feedback on students work in Google classroom and documents. I've been using it for 2 days now and I don't know how I lived without it. The most important thing about it is it allows effective personal engagement with students, something which you just don't have writing text comments.

I've been using Mote for just over a month now and I love it. I can leave feedback on playing tests quickly and I can see which students have actually taken the time to listen to my Mote clips (almost all of them do). It's only been buggy a few times (no lasting issues) and the devs seem to be available to answer questions rather quickly.

This is a game changer for how I manage my workflow. I teach 9th grade English and often there's just so much feedback these students need, but also such a narrow bandwidth for receiving that feedback, that you're walking a razor's edge between being productive in your remarks and force-feeding them with remediation for which they're in need but unable to receive. Enter Mote. The conversational tone you can strike does wonders for infusing your criticism with the personable tone you might adopt during a private conference with the student. They simply respond with more emotional energy when they can hear your voice. It's less sterile than written feedback (which, I should say, as a traditionalist I prefer - more stable, visible, and accessible over the development of writing portfolios), but even the best feedback is useless if students don't receive it. With this extension, you receive reports for how many students saw that you left a voice note and how many students listened to your notes, which is a real boon for holding students accountable. It also simply speeds things up. In the premium version, which my school purchased, you have 90 seconds of audio per comment, which I've found pushes me to make my remarks direct and concise enough to fit in that window. I rarely use more than one comment per assignment, and pairing these voice notes with Google Rubrics is a brilliant marriage for your efficiency. The only thing I'd like to see is some sort of application of this principle for apple users. My school issues its faculty Apple products but subscribes to Google's education suite, which presents integration issues like this. The magic bullet will be when we're able to record voice notes AND leave written feedback that integrates with Google Classroom's iPad text editor. The versatility of editing a page directly shouldn't be ignored for its useful visualization of how ideas grow over the course of a written text, but if we could narrate those images for students while offering our remediations for student work, this sort of resource would be absolutely revolutionary for managing the teaching of writing.

I love this extension. It makes feedback for students so much easier...Too often, students avoid reading comments or they get lost in the words, length, etc - likely due to a history of seeing written comments as critical/negative. But they respond to the verbal feedback in a much more positive and relaxed way. I've been super happy.

I love Mote - it's an incredible time-saving app. First, I get to leave 90 seconds worth of feedback to my students. Second, it transcribes my words into text - this is great for my students with special needs. Third, there is this mode called "STEM mode" where it writes out my equations the way I would normally write e.g. it transcribes "equals" as "=". Fourth, they also translate my text into a couple dozen languages - this is great for my English Language Learners and families. It makes leaving feedback, sharing newsletters, a much more equitable and time-saving process!

I LOVE THIS! I'm a teacher and this is so helpful for younger students or students with reading comprehension deficits! I even encourage them to download the extension on their school-issued laptops so they can leave me voice comments! I think every teacher should download this!

Loved this app! It is a great way to deal with glitches in "reader". You simply read the slide and the information that you want to share with students. You may use several per slide! This has been a very useful app so that all students have access to the information! Thanks for making such a useful tool!

I LOVE mote. My AP Bio kids have a digital lab notebook this year, and I give them lots of feedback. I get tired of typing everything out, especially when it's the same thing over & over- this speeds me up greatly. I love being able to provide verbal feedback (and many kids do better HEARING vs READING), and if it's the same comment for another student, I can simply copy/paste the link onto the next notebook. One of the best extensions I've found this year and will continue to use moving forwads.

A really useful extension to enable me to add comments onto pupil work. It's slightly annoying that the free version is only 30 seconds long, but it just means that I have to be concise! If I was going to frequently be giving longer feedback (e.g. on long pieces of written work) then I'm sure the investment in the paid version would be worth it! When I try to comment, I can start a voice recording but cannot stop it. The only way to get the recording to stop is to cancel the comment altogether. Very disappointed as this was so promising. I wasted HOURS trying to make it work.

I am in love with this extension! The day my director shared it with our school, I immediately started using it. I'm hooked! It's easy to use and I will encourage my colleagues to use it so that they become more excited about providing useful feedback that doesn't take much time to compose! Mote has become a LIFESAVER!

I recently started using Mote to give feedback on student essays. It is a game-changer for several reasons. It is integrated/easy to use in Google Classroom; it makes giving feedback more efficient; and it adds a bit of a personal connection through voice that is missing in virtual learning. This seems really promising...I've got to get my admin to unblock it (I can "try" it but my students can't). When I record and hit done I get a DING...but then the comments aren't appearing...is that because the students don't have it installed?

A useful (and time saving) little tool that I use for leaving feedback to my A-Level students on project work. Feedback that is more personalised, more detailed and quicker to achieve than with normal comments. It integrates seamlessly into Google Docs and so far has made just one part of my job that little bit easier. Exactly what you want from a productivity app :)

Connect with your students more! I have been using mote for the last 2 months and I love it! It's very easy to use and it creates more human connection during remote learning because my students hear my voice. I typically give more feedback using mote and I my English Language Learners benefit from hearing English!

This is EXACTLY the type of extension I was looking for. I've been eager to leave audio feedback for my students, but so far that sort of service has been tied into more comprehensive grading programs. This fits my needs perfectly. And BONUS: It doesn't require a student-side download to operate, since students can just follow the link, so I won't need to get this program whitelisted by my district to use it. That is HUGE and a major oversight of many similar programs. Bravo! I look forward to using this in the fall.

This extension is great for commenting on student work! It is so much faster to record a comment than type it out and not only am I able to convey more complex feedback to students in a format they can easily digest, but the tone I deliver my feedback is much better received than traditional typed comments. I personally turn off the transcript as I didn't find it very accurate and while I think there should be a time limit to ensure feedback is concise, 90 seconds can be a bit too brief when commenting on lengthier student work.

This extension is a quick and easy way for educators to leave feedback for students. Also, it has been helpful when I need to explain something and do it better by verbalizing it. I can then go in and edit the transcript quite easily. This extension is a MUST-HAVE for educators today in our Distant Learning Environments.
