This is my favorite extension. There are many that make my life significantly easier and more efficient, but this one stitches moments of enjoyment and contemplation between humdrum web-browsing tasks. It's exposed me to new favorite artists - and even a painting I hung a print of in my home. It stopped working yesterday, and I and, it seems, a number of others here, already badly miss it. Please fix this quickly, Google friends. Not to do so would be evil - and I hear y'all don't be that.

Anyone, the extension appears to have stopped working.

Great extension. However the paintings seem to be zoomed in. Is there a way to fix this?

As an avid art lover, this extension is like a gem to me. Everyday a new photo gives me an aesthetic and elegant vibe.

Simple and beautiful.

Would be 1000 times better if you could select the type of art you see. In particular the google street art portfolio from chromecast would be wonderful. It's nice to be able to follow the links and learn more about the paintings.

this extension is incredible, I'd really like for a slideshow feature so I can just leave it on and look at new art.

Great extension. I enjoy it very much. However, perhaps the devs could implement a feature where you can choose what album/time period/or genre of art you would like to see. I am rather particular about the art that I enjoy; I'm just nitpicking. But this is a great feature I think many would like to see.

I love this extension so much but can't figure out how to change the image every tab. Can you help me?

The idea is great but the art is repetitive and it doesn't fit my taste, and there's no option to select the style or anything.

I really love this extension in discovering new works and artists, and also being reminded of all the works I am already familiar with. I do wish and this could be a very cool new feature - if I could filter the types of works that I received... for example see only works by artists of color or works in a particular time period.

FEEDBACK: I would love to see the like button on the Google Arts & Culture site when you click the artwork. It would make adding these paintings to the favorites library more convenient and accessible.

hello, amazing app, only thing is that i love it so much that i want it for my desktop so i was wondering if this extension saves the image on my pc or not because if it does i could use that dir to upgrade my desktop background. if someone knows about my need please help (i'm on ubuntu by the way) thanks!

Loved this extension. I took out a star because I can't seem to find a way to set specific collections as the default ones to display. Anyone know how? Googled it but no result! :(

The only reason I give it a 4/5 is because it cuts of most of the picture on 16:9 screens. I'd prefer black bars on the sides to get the correct perspective as I think it looks much better that way than it being zoomed in and cut. Everything else is great!

This extension is awesome... but one suggestion-- like others have suggested, I would recommend putting the year of the work next to the title. I would also recommend adding more art to the rotation!

I really like the art implementation every time a new tab is open. Its refreshing and relaxing.

Great content! A minor complaint I have is that the date is missing and I have to open the Arts & Culture page to know it.

Great extension except that it's skewed towards the western and japan artworks only. I hope it could display art pieces from more diverse background.

I really like this extension, but, after a year or so I now seem to be seeing a lot of the same artwork.

I enjoy the different art images, but it would be nice to be able to provide a frame around the image, so it was clear that you were seeing the entire piece, instead of perhaps only a portion.

i want this to be removed from my google chrome. i hate this extension. because every time i open the new tab, i always see some painting that i don't really like. it's just colorless for me. And i must click the home button to view my new-tab-page wallpaper that i like.

Great restful extension BUT I think it permanently disables the Start where you left off AND Open these Tabs functions, except after reboot. Have tried uninstalling, but no help

They have about 30 total pictures, so if you use your browser more than 1 hour a day, you'll start seeing repeats after about 5 days. I'm removing right now.

well i liked it but somehow it was downloaded on my school laptop and i can't remove it I wanted the old background like the google background but nothing happen-

I can't even begin to tell you how amazing Google Arts and Culture is, I could sit and look at it all day long and have to actually force myself to stop and do whatever I have to do. I am visually impaired and still am able to see the lovely works and places on my computer. If I want to read the information, I go to my Pixel 3aXL, click on the little man, and listen as it reads the article to me. I have so wanted you to know how wonderful this is Google, you have opened up a new and beautiful world to me.

Great but one feature request: it would be really nice to be able to access the "heart" to add to favourites without having to click through. I often open a new tab, see something amazing, want to keep track of it, but need to do whatever it was that prompted me to open the new tab in the first place. Please add the functionality of clicking "add to favs" on the loaded tab itself, not just when the user clicks through. Otherwise a great way to add some visual art to your life.

Most of the images are actually pretty low resolution. They're offering higher resolution on the Google Arts & Culture site, so it's such a miss. There are also no options to pick art from certain institutions or types. It's not being actively developed. I'd love for this to be better.

This extension is causing severe slowness since last 2 months or so. I have it for a long time, never had issue befor. After adding a new tab or opening browser, browser and whole machine freezes for 1-2 mins. Windows Version 81.0.4044.92 (Official Build) (64-bit).

I've just installed this extension, and it is wonderful! It would be great though to have a non-intrusive pinned sites board, for example in the upper left corner, with site icons only and blended into the background. So I don't have to do another click to access the top sites as it is now.

Love the art! But it's very low-resolution. Full screen on a regular 2k monitor is super blurry. With modern high DPI screens becoming the norm, why not use more of the gigapixels that are in the source images?

So much incredible information being provided at every direction, really an underrated initiative because it preserves so much unique information and makes it accessible to everyone.

Really like this extension as it's wonderful to see only the piece of art and nothing else cluttering it. Its only downside is that there is no way to "heart" or "like" the art so that it could be saved into a folder or something so I can see it again. I would love to really research some of the art that comes up, but with no way to save it, I can't ever remember the ones I really liked. Other than that, a wonderful extension to bring some art into my everyday life!

Instead of focusing on art and culture, as it's supposed to be, this service offers a big amount of liberal political activism. For example, Nelson Mandela's biography might be important for South African history or for the human rights, but it's greatly irrelevant to arts and culture to be on the page top. The service probably defines "culture" as something directly related to the sexual minorities issues ( in the trend of liberal brainwashing ), as we can see from the articles offered to the user. And only below all that, somewhere on the bottom part of the page, there are articles, related to art and culture.

Love it so much! I really enjoy Google Arts and Culture. As others have noted, the icing on the cake would be to favourite the piece from the new tab, without having to go to the artwork's page. Please bring in this feature!!

Please add the app pop out menu like all chrome new tabs. That would make this perfect.

Love it! Just what I've been looking for.

I love this extension. I have one suggestion for a minor improvement: the legend at the bottom of the artwork should give the date the work was created and the nationality of the artist, just like a museum would.

I really love this app, but it repeats too often to be a random coincidence.

i really like to open up to a nice painting and follow up to more, get distracted quite often and forget my original search task getting involved with the multitudes of pictures and locations. i tell everyone about it. nice to see it in other browsers now too.

Great ext.. love it. One thing - I often get repeat images.. enough where I notice it. Why? seems the image archive is huuuge and I should never see the same 2x

It was really good in the beginning but the paintings started repeating themselves maybe after 5 days. I was also getting them one on new tab. You should just increase the catalog.

An excellent concept! Subpar execution. Even on a standard 1080p screen quite a few of the images are pixelated yet most of the images are available in very high resolutions on Google Art & Culture. Additionally on the default new tab interface the bookmark bar is displayed, unfortunately this extension removes it and does not present an option to re-enable it. As much as I'd like to use this extension I do not for these two reasons.

amazing extension but - add option to favorite the art too instead of clicking the image to go to the site again and again - increase the amount of pictures..it just keep on repeating the same ones many times

I really like this extension but I've noticed that the art work image does not fit in the google chrome tab. I mean, you can not see the entire image. Unfortunately, the edges of the image are clipped. So there should be a "fit" selection. "Fill": As it is now "Fit": Do not trim edges of the image show entire image in the tab.

Love seeing new paintings everyday, has really made me consider picking it up as a hobby

This is one of the best extensions I have ever used in Google Chrome. For those who are in love with art, paintings, history and culture should definitely try it. I hope that the developers may enlarge their archieve so that we may have access to different works from various parts of the world.

i like it but, i would like it even more if i could keep top sites already in front and not have to press click on button to bring them up. for now ill delete it but hopefully will come back.

It's real nice and everything but is there a way that i can see my toolbar? I used to open my sites from toolbar and it's gone now... Real nice extension otherwise

Could be great... artwork repeats way to often and does automatically scale to show the whole artwork usually just the middle half or so. Being able to pick a time period and have only art from that time period would be most interesting.

I love it!!! The best chrome extension so far. I took off one star because a "like" or "heart" button to save my favorite artworks directly on the tab would make this extension 20/10. I know I can save it from the arts & culture page but a simple like button next to the artwork's name could make that easier. Thanks!!!!!

One can never have enough art. Bravo to Google for this effort.

Google feedback: Something is askew. The page can not be refreshed nor will it change on a new day or tab. LOVE this extension. please fix.

The art shown are displayed in very low-res. Probably 1280*720, or even worse.

Does what it does, I love it. I have a question though. Obviously the vast majority of art wasn't made in 16:9, so I understand why I'm getting cropped images. But is there any way to make this extension shrink the picture so I get the full piece? I wouldn't mind a frame of negative space if it meant I get to see the full picture. If not, is there another extension that does this? Maybe I don't fully understand aspect ratio. Maybe the picture would be much smaller than I'm anticipating. But if not, could somebody drop me a reply?

Love the design. But it wouldn't show up the shortcut, which is annoying.

Love it, but it needs some new material - the catalog of works is quite limited so it seems repetitive.

Google Art Project and it's chrome extension is changing my life - a tab at a time. I just can't believe that I just pause for a brief moment in a busy schedule, smile when I am sad, or get better than the moment I was just before opening a new tab. Thank you Google.

I love this extension! But there is some problem recently, chrome always keep loading and cannot reach the page. After I disable this extension, everything become normal. Please help check if there is any bug.

Great way to discover artworks. Some improvement: the art is zoomed too close.

Post the version 69 update, the new tab isn't scaling the "art masterpieces" correctly. Except in fullscreen.

It has stopped working today if selecting changing artwork in every new tab.

The extension is great but the paintings are too large, and I see only the centre of them, anybody knows how to change it?

a nice extension. but why it doesn't show the whole photo. i Think there shoud a fit option so that you can see the whole photo. also it's quality decreases when it's like that.

My fav extension.

I LOVE this extension! As a visual artist, I can never get enough arts input. But I've looked all over in vain trying to find how to fix one problem: on boot-up, my Chrome is set to bring up all the tabs open where I left off. This extension is now opening up a second window which is just a bother to shut it down on every boot up as I never work with 2 browser sessions/windows, only one using tabs. Wish you'd fix this or address it in a Help file (which I also cannot seem to find). I'll "suffer" this though for the arts....

Not what I was lead to believe it was. I wanted an extension to upload my own pictures to show in the theme.

Please, google, never abandon this project!!!!! It is an absolutely marvellous contribution to the world of art and culture by you, and i cannot appreciate the people who made this enough! u guys are totally phenomenal!

By far, my favorite chrome extension. Have been using it for years, and it's been reliable. Amazing artwork that I may have never seen without this extension and the work of the Google Art Project.

Please add a like or fav or bookmark feature so that we can go back at study specific pieces that we love and have discovered through this great app. Great idea!!!

A key feature of like (add to favorites ) is missing from the new tab action buttons. Another is navigation ability to browse previous background. Reason: Most times you just open the tab and start navigating with a bookmark. Till the time you register the artwork it's gone and you can't see that one again. (If setting is to shuffle it every time you open the tab)

Really good app but held back slightly by the resolution not being too great. Noticeably lower than the art and culture website itself. It would be five stars otherwise.

my main issue with this plugin is the resolution of images it displays, they look god awful compared to the ones from the arts and culture website, especially when it comes to any artwork with fine detail - the images feel like they are upscaled 360p. It would be nice if the plugin would detect my screen resolution and download the image accordingly.

How amazing that you can get a bit of art integrated in your busy days. Absolutely love this.
