Grepper Professional is Shet , really developers ? booo to you , what a Shet monetize strategy

This extension used to be one of my favorite chrome extensions. I have had this extension for over three years now and it has saved me some time as it provides seamless code snippets when searching for an answer to your question. However, over the past year, the developers have continued to disappoint with weird add-ons and advertisements. There has been a variety of bugs on their websites as well, for example, my Coding Expertise Wheel shows that C# is my best language. (I have never touched C#), or how the stats page just does not work sometimes. Finally, when searching for an answer using Grepper, you may find various answers, but for some reason, the newer answers have a different UI then older answers, making the page look clumsy and unorganized... this has persisted for months. Though, these are minor issues, the main reason why I am now giving this extension a one-star review is because the developers decided to monetize this service, even when the code snippets that users have created are not even theirs. Now you have to pay 5$ for a Pro subscription for what should be completely free which is really annoying. The Pro subscription makes the extension useless, and although I have used this for years, I think I may have to uninstall it now, which is a real shame since this extension used to be helpful once.

you didn't add the "answers", go ahead and charge people for others solution. if you are a developer to help others use stackoverflow, and please delete your answers here. because these intelligent owner(s) doesn't deserve the data.

Grepper used to be one of my favorite browser extensions, as it saved me a lot of clicks as developers could include code snippets that would appear right in your google search results. Unfortunately, grepper has tried to monetize this and now no results appear unless you pay. I understand hosting is not free, but casual users should be able to filter which searches use one of their very limited free searches at the very least. Hopefully someone makes an open source alternative to this. Since other developers added the code snippets, not grepper.

Why are charging us for premium subscriptions. It's not like you had written the soluation for the problems. it's written by developers for developers to access free and fast. I used to like this extension. But now I hate it because of ads and locked answers. It's better to use stack overflow or Bing Chat instead of paying you guys. Good Bye uninstalling it...

You have to pay them to see the results that are written by developers for you for free!They take money to view answeer but donot pay the dev that answered the questions. Such a shame

Uninstalling because it takes over command+G and I don't want to deal with re-mapping a default keyboard shortcut.

Atleast give more clear details on the freemium version over the limits of daily searches etc?

The content is not written by Grepper, it is written by developers, for developers. And now they want to monetize this? Unable to access without a paid subscription anymore.

The worst news of this morning was that now I'm unable to see all grepper results without unlocking the premium. The grepper results made literally by the developers, it is community driven extention. I have no idea why they added the premium subscriptions

Grepper is absolutely amazing. It has really simplified my everyday coding life by saving hours of time I would have spent endlessly scrolling.

Once it was a life saver app. Then they made it premium and added add and now it is also not working on my chrome. Why you do this.

Was absolutely amazing until they added ads in literally the worst place ever. The whole point is to save the couple of clicks it would take to go into the first entry on google. Now there are ads completely blocking the results, meaning you save literally no time or clicks and have to look at ads now. I will be promptly uninstalling if the ads aren't removed soon.

The whole point of this extension is save ONE click to the stackoverflow link that got THE SAME ANWSER! And NOW you put ads ON the answer i need so that if I dont click the X button i can not see the anwser destroing the only purpose of this Extension! Very smart guys, very smart! Why don't you just put the ad ON TOP OF THE DIALOG instead of INSIDE? This is useless right now!

Maybe I was looking for something that does you know, a bit more, and not just the same thing in iterations all pending on being part of the community. Dude, you're not Google or Facebook. WHAT COMMUNITY. Also when I hear grep, I think of you know, GREP, the bash builtin. That grep is NOT LIKE THIS GREP. If you were to learn this thinking this is GREP and then have to actually do something like "ls -laF | grep -i 'x\/' | awk '{print $FU}' | col -b > FUDUMB.out" you would be well "so grep works like that extension so it must be just like it right? Hmm, ok *copy* *paste* into said extollsion and wait, NOPE WRONG TOO." The dev needs to explain that this IS NOT GREP I don't care if it has a PER at the end it is misleading and literally the worst "result" for a like named "TOOL". OH AND YOU MUST GET THE PRO VERSION TO DO ANYTHING - BUT STILL WORTH NOT THE TIME YOU WOULD PUT INTO IT.

I was very excited to use this extension, come to find out it was changing the signature of my email to include a link to install the extension which I was sending to clients. Very unprofessional and disappointing from a very promising extension. Do better.

one of the best extensions I have ever used, helps me alot when I need a solution for my pc and more importantly it can give some snippet that you may need in your code, really recommended

Very useful as a developer; but 1 gripe is that you're stuck with a single theme, which I personally think is ugly. It'd be near perfect if you could switch from a built in set of themes, plus a field to use your own css to override the built in theme if desired.

Good extension. Only feedback is that it should work in other search engines, including DuckDuckGo. I like most other parts of this, though. Just a bit upset it doesn't work with my favorite search engine.

only works in Google... as a .NET dev I pretty much just use Bing... and I'm not going to switch to "do lots of evil" company's service just for this

Does what the ad tells you, LES GOOOOO!

Works only with Google? Lame! Where is the option to configure other search engines? Why is there a login screen in the extension popout? Not very useful for me therefore 1 star for the effort.

Seems to be a very good extension, but I might not be able to use it because it steals ALT+G and I can't find a way how to switch this off. Will still spend some time trying to find a way to switch it off, but then will just remove extension if not succeed as ALT+G is used to write G with diacritic sign for non-English version of G. (Edit) Still no success in neutralizing that ALT+G - sad way to kill great idea and tool by stupidly hardcoding hotkey to default Microsoft hotkey used for at least 30 years for non-English diacritic sign and not providing even the option to switch it off or change.

it helped me to save a lot of time while searching code. This extension is very helpful for programmers because always we search when we stuck on some point. This extension helped me solve my bugs faster and I also recommended to my seniors and they liked it.

After using his extension for the better part of 2 years am now inclined to uninstall it. I was also proudly reccomending this app to all the beginning programmers out there, I make it a point to help them out whenever I can. In the beginning it was kind of empty, and as it went along there were more an more answers, I contributed a few myself . . . but, lately . . . it is becoming another vehicle for trolls. I can point out a few examples, but will just point out 1. "Download Google Chrome". Take a look at the replies. I have seen insults in some of the search results and it has simply gotten out of hand, which is sad, because the concept of this is promising . . . but it definitely isn't worth it at this point. You need a way to report and remove irrelivent entries. Frusterated former user . . . Mike

Very Good, I used spend alot of time scrolling through lots of documentation and watching lots of videos to find code to use in my games to do things, but this extension is sooooooo helpful, i search for what I need and its right there! Very Good

Actually a very productive extension for everyday programmer we can reduce a lot of time by using "Grepper" it will show you almost correct code snippet or hints for the query you searched.

honestly just generally useful even for stuff that isn't just coding

when I saw the ad I thought it was going to cost like $25 but ITS FREE?!?! like even if it has a few bugs (I haven't seen any yet) its still free so you really cant complain.

This extension is very useful in search engine pages. But for other pages, it changes style of the pages and affects the layout of the pages. For example, It changes demo pages of Ace Editor. URL: https://ace.c9.io/demo/keyboard_shortcuts.html , https://ace.c9.io/demo/emmet.html Currently I am using site access extension option to disable the extension on other pages.

Saved/ saves me a TON of time! Love it!

I liked it, but giving 3 stars for two reasons: 1. The UI doesn't feel easy on the eyes 2. You called StackOverflow a weird forum For point 2, I compared the awesome community of StackOverflow with your extension and I decided to give you a 3 star rating. How you can say that the solution the extension proposed here is efficient and is according to best practices? StackOverflow should be one of the must-have tools in a developer's kit.

Been using it for 6 months now and I can say that it is a must-have extension. Saves me the time/hassle of clicking multiple links to get my answer. Instead it shows a recommended answer on top of the google search results.

best ideas come from big brains. I think those who created this have a head of a monster nice job ?

Incredibly useful, well implemented. If you do any sort of coding, its worth a download without a doubt.

Doesn't work for bing

Grepper is a really useful & helpful extension. You don't need to open stack overflow ever again.

Often times, the grepper icon on top right of code snippets overlays the copy icon which is given to copy code making it difficult to copy. Please move it a bit in the center or add a padding of more than 25 pixels to it. Thanks

Give us a copy button/ Onclick to auto copy the answer As a developer you should not miss that button! :()

One of the (very) few browser extensions that I installed from a youtube ad, brilliant targeting and awesome extension. Great job!

After switch language(win + space), next time when you press `G` button the box appear (I think it is easy Grapple function thing).

The best thing ever for people learning to code! This helped me a lot and I might recommend this to anyone who would like to code!

Good extension, but doesn't seem to let me remove ctrl+G as the shortcut for adding an answer. This would be a easy 5 star extension, but there's no settings page or any way to configure this, so it's completely unusable and has to be uninstalled when using figma for example.

Great idea, but it simply doesn't work for me; is it because I'm using Ecosia? But in the settings it says it has access to (ecosia url)/*... Also why do you collect password info?!

I've used Grepper for about 1 year now and it is very helpful (any funny sometimes) with my development. Probably the only extension I will ever install through a targeted ad.

I just Loved this. I always save answers so that I can recall them for myself, But Its good to see that others are also getting benifit from this.

Literally my best friend. Always helps me rethink what I'm trying to do, and I love seeing how others would implement something similar.

It is super nice to be able to see the right code straight from a google search. Grepper makes coding much less stressful.

Was wonderful but it has stopped working on all my laptops. And no support. Id give 5 but I cant use it anymore so.

I don't know if I've installed it wrong somehow but nothing that I look for has a Grepper answer... not even the simple things
