I've been using this extension for awhile now when playing videogames. I would have it in the corner playing whatever I feel like. It sometimes does stupid stuff like stop working. It has happened to me a few times where I would put a link and click APP; then it would show up in the taskbar but I cannot see the window at all. If this ever happens just delete the extension redownload the extension and download this add-on: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/always-on-top-app-add-on/oppldakpkfhiglmfehedjgideggjhcle/related. Other then that it has been working as intended, I got no clue what everyone else be experiencing lol.

So what's the deal here, is it dead? the AOT app is gone, only showing 404 error when you click on 'APP' and the EXT doesn't seem to work :\

Unfortunately no longer working for me. When prompted to install the App add-on, I do so, and I then get a message that the original extension has become corrupt. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling several times with the same result. It was an app I used a LOT for business purposes and this is going to impact my productivity hugely.

These latest permission requests were added in order to enable users to have the option to enable their camera/mic when a page requests them, like video chat pages, for example. but i don't really need that, usually i just use it to keep online video always on top, it maybe a nice feature to people but it doesn't apply to me.

I want to use this for netflix but since it uses incognito mode I can't. Why must it require incognito mode?

Used this to have a twitch window on top of everything else on my desktop. I was using another plugin for this up until they randomly changed their security requirements and required the ability to see all the things I do on chrome. Of course this plugin would eventually get overrun and ask for all my website data as well. What nonsense. Even the dev claimed it's just a way to open the Chrome app. Why would you need any website data for that when I just provide a URL to launch in the app.

The only reason I want this is for Netflix, but because this app uses Incognito Mode, the Widevine plugin necessary for Netflix doesn't work.

This may not be what you are looking for. It's not really an extension to Chrome but another form of browser. I dislike this app because it needs a separate app just top open it. Thats scary because I don't know what kind of security it even has compared to Chrome, plus I can't use or add my add-on features I have on Chrome for the app window; most notably is the lack of my ad-blocker.

It works great. I wish there was an option to zoom in or out. it will help when working with something with a smaller screen.

If this worked for Netflix I would rate it higher - says that it's running incognito mode though. But works for Youtube just fine!

Definitely doesn't work.. You type in the URL that you want on top, and then click either "EXT" or "APP" to open the URL with the extension for "Picture in Picture" style or the separate chrome app for a separate window. But EXT doesn't work on anything except Chrome OS because google removed support for it, and APP opens a window that acts like any other window and it doesn't stay on top.. It also has a glitch and keeps randomly maximizing the window.. So tl;dr this extension only works in Chrome OS Edit: It says it only works on Chrome OS in description, but its easy to overlook.. It should be made clear in the 1st sentence of the description, not small subtext halfway into the description

You 'MUST' click APP not EXT and It will work.

I followed the instructions -add link to APP -download SECOND add on extension -works perfect on google chrome on windows I wrote this review to help everyone understand that this app actually DOES work!!

Works really well and the developer is really great with answering to suggestions and feedback! Update: Chrome apparently removed the panels option for "normal" Chrome and people are too stupid to read the description of this addon. The APP Extension is necessary now and that one works flawlessly for me on both Windows and Linux(Ubuntu Mate) I am sorry for all the people that complain about something that you can't do anything about!

Frustrating at times. It was annoying that I had to pop out a window separate from my own to get it to stay on top. And even that didn't work sometimes. Now the buttons on the extension will no longer work. Uninstalling.

The fact that chrome removed enabling of panels makes this app pretty useless to me...and I was hoping to have a small window for videos while I write. Wish there was a way around this. I'm sure it works fine otherwise though, just really wish it didn't need the panels thing to work. :\

This extension was awesome until it stopped working. Now it says I need to enable "panels" on chrome://flags. However, Chrome doesn't have a "panels" option there anymore. It must have something to do with the last update. Thanks.

I love it! But I kinda want it to show the whole page when it is small because it zooms in on some pages that I want to see whole. I play Tetris when doing some things.

Great concept except that it has several quirks. 1. it's hard to control. The app seems unstable. The display is jumpy. 2. Can't put it into full screen mode. 3. Can't block pop up ads 4. Can't access browser controls such as back and other controls like a regular browser. You have to start over each time. 5. And it's unclear what the advantages of signing in are other than being able to access your account there dont seem to be any other advantages. I like the idea but the app needs a lot of work to be more user friendly, and more stable. Ultimate Browser in the app store is pretty much the same thing and much better although it does not claim to be "always on top". but all of these kinds of apps needs a pop up blocker for some websites that have a lot pf popups. I realize now that that is what was making the browser more unstable.

How to enable microphone in panel mode ?

does not work with netflix ext mode only give a now window for netflix but the window does not stay on top once the video start to play. app mode does not work, netflix will show incognito mode error even I turned off incognito mode.

Wanted to use this for facebook video calls but it doesn't support mic/camera.

Buttons could be more intuitive, but phenominal function once configured. Love it!

Interesting idea, but needs some work. I agree with other reviews that it isn't intuitive. You click the toolbar icon and you get an EXT or APP option. Had to experiment and go fishing for information. Per instructions in the Chrome Web Shop, you must enable panels under Chrome://flags. EXT works only on the main display, not secondary or tertiary displays. If you drag EXT to another window and back to the primary, it no longer works. APP is supposed to give you a window you can drag around. So far, APP only opens the Chrome Web Store listing for Always on Top. If it does more it is not obvious; better instructions necessary. Would totally be willing to try more things but can't find documentation.

Does not stay on top. Im looking at a picture or anything and when I click on whats behind it the window disappears to the background. I have the extension open on Opera so i cant tell if thats the issue or not.

Took a bit to setup, and sometimes doesn't work, especially after moving the window. Very finicky.

Works as advertised, but I wish I could disable the little AOT buttons that now appear all over web pages. EDIT: The settings toggle does work. I did not reload the page the first time I tried. Thanks!

As long as you follow the instructions works great. I'd love the option to resize, but if you resize it before you do add it, it's good to go.

Netflix works perfectly with EXT, but, for some reason it only docks and stays on top when docked on the right hand side of the screen, how can I move it to the left and have it stay on top?

Thank you for contacting me. I went to chrome://flags enabled panels. And IT IS WORKING. ALWAYS ON TOP when it is at the bottom of the browser.

Used to be fantastic, now is useless

It's very useful having reference material (and movies) always on top of everything else, until recently. I can no longer use full screen in either the app or ext panel, and I've checked that I have the latest version of chrome and that all the panel settings, etc are set appropriately. I've also checked this on other computers, with the same result. I'll give it 5 stars as soon as it's working spectacularly again.

This is now a very good extension. I use it at work to put multiple PIPs on monitors to observe several sites at same time at home I put multiple TV channels on same monitor- this is a function that cable or Vizio cannot do

Phew, finally managed to get it to work how I wanted. Had to install the app, as the EXT it would not stay on top.

Doesn't work.

This does the job, with a few drawbacks. It only will remain on top if it sits in the bottom right corner of your main screen. If you use the app version, you can't use it for Netflix or Amazon video, due to DRM. For whatever reason it isn't able to utilize Chrome's widevinecdm in that mode. Intel 5500 video drivers have problems with it and will occasionally shut off your displays (I've tested this on a few different Dell machine models).

Followed the instructions and it is working perfectly for me thus far. It took more time to upgrade my G+ profile in order to leave this review than it did to get AOT working ;)

I dont know if people understand you have to type in a url and that it doesnt just automatically do it when you install, this works perfectly for me and is exactly what i was looking for, also kudos for making the window a simple panel! side note small problem: it seems unless the popup window is anchored at the bottom right at the task bar it wont stay on top. for some reason moving it away from this spot disables the on top feature.

I enabled panels, restarted Chrome, and it wouldn't stay on top of anything. Not even Chrome. Didn't work for me at all. Windows 8.1 Chrome Version 47.0.2526.106 m

I need help apparently... I followed the instructions to enable Panels.. Put the URL in the box and hit EXT. I have downloaded the App. Still won't keep the window on top. Is it possible the Google Chat extension is conflicting?

Exactly what I was looking for. If I didn't have to paste the link to the website I wanted to use and just click the AOT icon in the top for the page I was on that would be a good option. Other than that the app is exactly what I was needing. Thanks!

Not sure why this has such low ratings. As of 12/6/15, it works seamlessly and easily. *As the instructions say, make sure Panels are enabled on chrome://flags*

i LOVE this . works perfectly to watch tv in the corner of my screen.

Alt-tabbing once loses the always on top functionality, which causes problem when you struggle to resize the window due to only being able to do so on top. Pretty much useless. Save yourself the pain and make an AutoHotKey macro for this functinality instead.

Great extension. I use it to play Youtube tutorials in a small window so I can follow along with the rest of my screen. Highly recommended.

Very useful, it does exactly what I want which is watch videos on top of other apps while I work.

That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to Shara Reardon's review I was able to make it works.

Having to paste the URL is a little clunky but other than that this does exactly what I wanted it to.

Too darned hard to use. Keeps going to the back very frustrating. I'll find something that works and this is sure NOT it.

Ok, so it's a little tough to figure out at first (you have to read carefully, it's not as simple as just adding it to chrome and it magically working for all cases). But if you set it up right/fiddle with it a bit, it works great. To others setting up, here's what I ran into, maybe it will save you some trouble: - don't forget to enable panels in chrome extensions. - you have to ALSO install the App version of this if you want to use the APP window. - if you're using it to watch Netflix, use the panel (EXT) not the APP window. Netflix wouldn't work in APP for me but would work in EXT. To the developer: - Is there a way to make it so we can move it to another corner, like bottom left? It would be more convenient elsewhere.

Little confusing at first, but I got it. Works great with plex.tv on my Chromebook. Resizing windows is a little funky though.

Garbage, doesn't work with certain programs and other "on top" utilities can do it easier and with all programs, not just chrome.

This is incredibly helpful, and the rating of this extension is unfortunately lowered by people's inability to read instructions before assuming something is broken. Thank you for making this. It has been a valuable extension that I use every day.

OK, so if you click APP it opens in an AOT window that stays on top, EXT opens a chrome window that does not stay on top. Once I figured it out it worked great!

Thanks a lot for this extension. Its serves the purpose. Only thing is add more description so that people will know how to use it. Like I have moved the panel away from taskbar then it is not AOT... I guess that's the limitation
