A great extension for a wide range of desired synonyms for any word I am looking for

Been usin them, sans extension, for many years. They are rather compendious @ product, design and as a company.

I would have to say that whenever I have a research article or essay due for a class, Word Hippo and I are the best of friends. It helps me write using a vernacular more commonly used.

I'm glad I discovered the WordHippo Thesaurus Chrome extension. There are often words in the articles I read that I do not understand. Finding synonyms or antonyms on Google is such a hassle. I am 88 years old (yeah; a phenomeno prehistorico) but still most active every day. For many many decades, whenever I needed a synonym (or antonym), I was using Roget's like everyone else was doing at the time. However, a few years back, I discovered Hippo. WOW. Believe me, you will NOT find a BETTER thesaurus in the Whole Wide World. I am not being corny. Check this: From a single word you get 1-an unabridged dictionary for the definition of ALL words; 2-an inexhautible dictionary of literally hundreds of synonyms for each word and even for tons of idioms (e.g. Get cold feet); 3-Ditto for antonyms (as many as there are synonyms); 4- Dozens and dozens of sentences that include the word sought; 5- Hundreds of rhymes to the word in question; not to mention 6-Audio Pronunciation of every word, 7-Forms; and 8-Translations; rounded out by a 9-Search Engine that'll find you any word . . . presto. A bit like Wikipedia, Hippo is the World's Best Encyclopædic Reference Tool as far as Words and even Idioms are concerned, bar none - actually, it's a Gigantic Dictionary of Dictionaries in regards to the world of ''words''. It is sooooooo good that it quickly becomes addictive if, like me, you ''take pen in hand'' nearly every day. AND, all of this, again like Wikipedia, is FREE. To try it is to adopt it on the spot. I love the WordHippo extension. It has several different meanings & uses for a particular word including the synonyms for each example. It has really broadened my vocabulary.

Very good, it works well, unobtrusive but full of ideas if you need it. It certainly can give the user a wealth of possibilities. A very good Thesaurus.

I love this extension! I have been using a bookmark link to WordHippo for months and always loved the design and the results. I had no idea there was a browser extension. It has been a huge boost to my productivity and writing endeavors! I really appreciate the craftsmanship and utility that WH brings to the table. I have this on every browser I use. It is now a permanent part of my toolkit.

By far the best thesaurus option I've been able to find, and the quality extension and convenient access to other features are both great bonuses. Further, I even find the dictionary they provide to be one of the most useful. If I could make a suggestion, I would love the ability to sort / collapse based on some grammatical partition—for example, it would be great to be able to collapse all of the synonym groups for the adjective usage of a word, if I'm looking for a synonym of the same's usage as a noun. Fantastic tool, thanks again.

Ads with weird name put me off a couple of years ago. It would have saved me HOURS of work since then. BEST EVER!

I liked the extension, but I couldn't find the synonym for the word 'hippo'. If there weren't any synonyms available for the word 'hippo', couldn't the extension show synonyms for parts of the hippo. What if the words were not coming from a dictionary, but a virtual talking hippo.

Always perceived word hippo to be far and above any similar service I have come across. This extension improves my productivity. It negates the minor annoyance and relatively significant need to stop, google word, etc. Importantly it negates the minor annoyance of the previous necessary step of stopping to google reference word. It may seem insignificant and perhaps silly to most to be so celebratory about an extension (and i agree). It seems I have an affinity perhaps even a compulsion to use find synonyms. When more basic words would likely suffice. -but they never will for me..

I originally downloaded "WordHilppo" for the Thesaurus, and I must say, I am IN LOVE with "WordHippo". It is my go-to for everything. Being in school, especially in the medical field, when learning pronunciation is essential. This extension is a true lifesaver. I recommend anyone with the capability to download, pleases do so!!! You will not regret it!!

Amazingly useful extension

WordHippo was almost an afterthought when searching for a dictionary which works in Opera, being primary advertised as a thesaurus. However it's really, in ease of use, quickness, and breadth of material- dictionary, thesaurus, rhymes - one of the best tools available. Much better than Google dictionary, Merriam-Webster, Dictionary, OED, others I disremember. I've used many free ones. I may donate or pay for WordHippo. I use it daily. It's designed for Chrome but works well in Opera. My main, minor, beef is it complains about Opera's built-in adblocker which doesn't properly whitelist it. Quite possibly an Opera issue. If I donate I might mention this. Again, it's made for Chrome, not Opera, but works well in both. Highly recommended.

You have the results in just a few clicks without leaving the page, and the Tooltips Helper even makes it quicker, which is perfect for intense users.

I downloaded The Hippo extension specifically for the rhyme feature and it was honestly so disappointing. While it did bring up nearly hundreds of word options, almost 3/4 of them weren't even remotely close to sounding alike. I'm sorry but "finger" and "quarter" surely dont rhyme with "stranger", at least not where I'm from. Therefore I will be parting with this extension.

Word hippo is a life saver if you are a writing an essay or revising a novel. There is an assortment of synonyms to choose from on the website, making your writing sound more knowledgeable and sophisticated. I love Word Hippo and I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

TLDR; Pros : Pop-Up opens in the current tab itself. And it even works in Google Sheet / Docs. Amazing! Cons : No feature to hide the unrequired options in right click pop up. The main reason I installed this extension is because it has the option to show me the usage of the word in a sentence. As far as I know, no other extension does that. So Kudos on that. It even works on Google Sheet/Docs. Loved the extension. The only thing I would want is to add a feature to jumble the options present when we right click on any words. Lets say I'm only concerned with "Definitions", the other options are bit distracting. So maybe a feature to hide other options.

I like it so much , I liked it when i highlight any words this little pop up word-hippo appears automatically rather than opening it from right-click list and the beautiful useful sidebar design that appears on the right of the screen that doesn't distract you from your working experience, it also gives me the meaning and bunch of related words instantly that gives the same meaning and also the ability to look up for any words using google search bar without opening the application from the extension icon . but the down side of it that i found is that doesn't work for some of sites like ( chrome web store ) and more of sites . Can you develop it to work also with microsoft office like (WORD) and PDF files ? that will be great option to have it will make the whole experience much better

Works better than Google dictionary or similar alternatives, in many ways Could've been better: 1) Operate by double-click rather than right click/highlight and click options=one-click-too-many 2) Pop-ups would've suited better than the whole sidebar interface which although gives lots of additional info is cumbersome most of the times=sidebar should be a second click mode, if further info is required after a popup definition/description

I really loved it and enjoy it using while studying something. Its really helpful and exactly what i was searching for, "On the go dictionary".

I is very useful, I'm a student and it really helps me with my work like assginments.

I love Word Hippo. It's the most in-depth thesaurus/dictionary tool I've ever come across. I normally don't mind switching tabs to search words on their site. But since I have to switch, it slows down my writing a bit. The fact that this extension works in Google Docs is the most useful feature for me. It sped up the process because I don't need to leave my document to look something up. I can search right on the page using the extension's sidebar, and it searches a bit faster than the actual Word Hippo site too. 5 stars and two thumbs up. Thanks so much for making this app. ??

Word Hippo has been really helpful for me in my studies but it's annoying when it opens a new tab for showing the results.

Just what I need.

It's a very helpful and easily accessible tool. This extension has helped me save time and memory. I often needed to open a new tab but with this extension, I can just highlight and right-click. Also, I like that it includes synonyms, antonyms, etc. aside from the definitions.

i love wordhippo. the site is rather laggy sometimes so this extension really helps. wish there was a quick copy option for the words though, like powerthesaurus.

This extension has been very helpful in my studies. I have Grammarly premium, and its great, but falls short when it comes to a dictionary or thesaurus. WordHippo offers more in-depth definitions and has been an outstanding thesaurus!

Another search in the Tooltip helper doesn't work. e.g. A click on a synonym in the Tooltip helper goes nowhere. The others seem nice.
