Getting "The character encoding was not declared. Proceeding using “windows-1252”." for all websites. Particularly, mine does declare UTF-8

Lacks an option to ignore certain error/warning types which is important since the official validator flags errors for non-standard attributes which are still VALID under HTML 5. Makes the results very hard to use for anyone using AngularJS or similar on their site.

The only validation plugin that works for me for webpages that are not online yet / on a proxy. Works like a charm, thanks.

This helped me a lot, I think I'll use it from now on for all of my projects. It showed me a lot of problems I didn't see before, and the usage of the Console of the Dev Tools is really nice. Really good work, thank you very much for this addon!

Works well but doesn't validate dynamically loaded (AJAX) content.

Icon appears in Chrome menu, but button does nothing. Restarted chrome, reloaded all pages, still nothing.

Great extension. How can i set rule for validation domain with all third-subdomains? For example: www.example.com test.example.com a.example.com b.example.com a-b-c.example.com

Doesn't show where the error in the source file is. Doesn't work properly with local files which is main reason for using something like this. For non local files just run it through validator.w3.org and it will give you far more useful output

Good app, but it is too week... 1. It does not display, where is error occured. The message in console is not informative.. just number of line.. 2. It can not work with local pages (file:// ...) Seems, like this app is just a wrapper around https://validator.w3.org

Works fine. The console shows the line ok but I have to open the source (CTRL+U) and look for the line. It would be nice to have a direct link to the source on the error message. It would be perfect if it could ignore rules from a custom whitelist, because I keep getting "Attribute autocomplete not allowed on element input at this point", which is due to mojarra JSF implementation using autocomplete="off" on hidden inputs to avoid firefox caching the viewstate. Because of this instead of seeing on the location bar the icon and knowing instantly if there is something wrong that needs inspection, I have to keep the console open and check for errors there. Thank you very much for your efforts and for contributing to the community! :-)

Unfortunately, leaks memory severely when set up for automatic checks. (Also, it looks like w3c validator blocks you easily)

This plugin uses external service where your data are sent. This is a serious thing which should be clearly declared with a couple of exclamation marks at the top of the page. Otherwise it's just another spyware.

Works, but doesn't show the source causing errors. Even more, clicking on the icon won't bring you to the list of errors (you have to bring up the console).

Love this Extension. This adds a quick test for me to check my html. Section 508 is king. I always install this right after I install Web-developer. Thank you for your improvement to society!

almost perfect :) but if you have a single quote `'` in the ID (or assume anywhere else), it kills the plugin. (ie: if you use Angular or other frameworks)

Absolutely invaluable plugin, stays out of the way - works very fast (since talking to API endpoint only - little network traffic) - a must install.

Local pages do not have the icon for me. Also, the thumbnail image (Google with arrow) chosen in the overview section is a very poor choice as it confuses people as to where to look for the icon.

You need an internet connection and it sends your HTML to a server. This seems insecure.

Errm, where is the validate button? Some screen shots with what to click would be nice, doesn't seem to exist for me.
