A very light weight and handy tool for developers. I want to give a suggestion. All data type display in same color other than string. If it is possible we can customize colors for specific data types like for numeric field, bool type and null values. It will be very useful for developers.

its taking so much time to load a big json data.

Wonderful. I would like to be able to adjust the font-size & colors. Otherwise, lightning fast!

PERFECT with DARK MODE !

Works well for small json responses but for anything beyond a moderate size (~100K chars, say an array of ~2000 small objects) the rendering of the json will hold up all of Chrome for all windows/tabs. Had to disable this extension and will selectively turn it on when I need it.

It is simple and perfect. You can use the browser Search in page, everything works, streamlined as if it was native. Vivaldi 5 on Windows 10.

WHY JSON Showing on the black field? I don't see anything

This is my favourite JSON formatter extension but unfortunately it's not so great when using dark mode

Looks bad on dark background: color of property names is dark and not changing depends on the theme. So it is not possible to read dark property names on black background.

Used to be great. However the project seems to be dead and there are a few bugs which probably won't be fixed. So perhaps just look for a different extension which is still maintained and save yourself some time down the line.

Works flawlessly, but with recent update, if you have Dark Mode enabled, the UI goes dark and is nearly unreadable (previously would stay white/default, regardless of browser/system theme). Hoping for a fix soon (toggle or otherwise); not useable in the interim for my purposes.

Has been great until the dark mode came in which made the background dark gray and the text black. Not usable at all until you turn off the dark mode in the os system. I tried to disable Chrome "Force Dark Mode" but it doesn't help.

Used to like it before the update, using dark mode the UI used to stay white. Now it's black and I can't read when I'm debugging!

I've always been annoyed that browsers format XML but not JSON or YAML, and then I realised that an add-on probably could do it - and JSON Formatter was perfect! Works very well with Microsoft Edge!

I've been using it for quite some time and it's great! But "conflicts" with Ghostery (easily solved!). TL:DR; If using Ghostery and it's sometimes failing to format. Go to Settings >Tracker-Tally and uncheck "Show the tracker-tally in the corner of my browser". I.e. disable whatever the plugin injects into the site (may apply to other plugins as well). SOMETIMES FAILING TO PARSE For me it was annoyingly working sporadically for the longest time until I came here and noted that people noticed that Ghostery (which I use) interfere with it. Seeing that and that the author stated it checks if all the content can be loaded as JSON, then it formats it, I realized: Ghostery injects its Tracker-Tally (the purple circle) into the site. RACE CONDITION This means it's a race condition between the Ghostery and JSON Formatter. If Ghostery injects its Tracker-Tally before JSON Formatter does its parsing, the whole content no longer is just JSON and hence fails. And that would explain why I was noticing it sometimes failed to parse. THE FIX Since it issue seems to stem from Ghostery injecting stuff into the page, disabling it should fix it (and it does). You can do this by going to Settings >Tracker-Tally and unchecking "Show the tracker-tally in the corner of my browser". This may apply to other plugins as well, so check for similar settings if you're experiencing similar problems.

great tool and very helpful when you are dealing with json...now you can see very pretty view with the json.

Loved this extension. I just wanted something that didn't have all of my JSON in one giant line, and this thing takes care of the problem like a charm. Some of the other extensions were too overkill, but this thing gets the job done.

Works great, have used it for roughly 5 years now and prefer it over the other top rated extension `JSON Viewer` which has always resulted in slow loading, collapsing etc. This one by far has succeeded in the most stressful conditions. Now just need support for JSONP ;)

This is old and does not support all JSON. There is a newer one that is much more reliable.

A very easy way to pretty print json from the browser. Use it regularly in a web app development course I teach.

It's useful. However it could be better: since it doesn't have options menu, there's no need in the icon on the toolbar, it just clutters free space.

When it works it is great, I can't get it to work, maybe on larger json objects? I am building backend server and testing routes. Small things load right away but no luck on larger objects. This one is only 605kb and not loading...

Doesn't make my retinas bleed, formats stuff nicely, is collapsible. 5/5

Excellent tool! It does exactly what it says and it does it so well! Thanks! Tip: if yours is not working try disabling other plugins that are running. In my case, Ghostery was causing a problem, I disabled it and bang, it works great!

This plugin does what it says, and it does it very well, the problem is it returns all websites as JSON! Even when I select to work only on click OR select to work on specific websites only, yet it doesn't care about my settings and return all sites as JSON!

It's very handy. It would be nice to handle "file://" on clickable urls

I tried the JSON Viewer extension first, and while it did an acceptable job of formatting, JSON Formatter's formatting had more of a "native" look and behavior. Searching JSON content works just like searching any content in Chrome; whereas, JSON Viewer has implemented it's own search feature, which doesn't tell you the number of instances of the search term, or which one you're currently on. JSON Formatter works exactly like I expected it should.

This is the most efficient way that I've seen to test API and understand the structure of the JSON returned. I highly recommend this!

This is the only formatted I used and I love it. I did notice that it is slows down for large JSONs but that is acceptable. I would suggest a prompt that if a json file is larger than say 1MB then ask me if you want me if I want to format it or not.
