Don't waste your time learning the language without this extension.

It helps me learn languages very well! I just wish it had a function where I could click on the subtitle in the foreign language and it would repeat the sound back to me.

Seems like it's working for other languages but it's not working for Korean. Even though in Korean drama, they never show you Korean subtitle. And they also made it hard to unsubscribe. Please fix it.

Hovering over word is taking forever to load the translation. pls fix it. i will improve the rating upon update.

worked in the beginning, then the 'upper subs' didn't have any languages, i got some other very inconsistent bugs

help full for me but still have some bug about padding and position , and it still have some bug with small screen. but everything still ok. it will be good if made it support another big streaming too ( etc, disney + or another if possible. :D

these guys hide the cancelation button in dark grey so when you try to find it you can't. Disgusting

This is my favorite piece of software, ever. When I consider the enormous sums that I have spent in the past on near worthless language training applications, i can barely believe how much more effective this extension is. My advice to anyone considering some of the other subtitle related Chrome extensions? I've tried them all. This is the one to get, if you want to actually learn another language

Not too bad, but 2 major issues: The lower subtitles keep switching between Engish and Dutch. When a subtitle is saved, often SAVED keeps hanging in the middle of the screen

Seems to have potential, but there are some problems. 1) The major problem is that the mouse over for Chinese doesn't seem to work. I have tried setting the mouse language to both English and Chinese (simplified), but nothing happens when I mouse over the subtitle. Mouseover on the subtitles sidebar does work, but it only gives a translation rather than a dictionary definition. 2) The "confirmation" dialog that comes up for auto-start with space bar or time is opposite of the setting. In other words, when you select auto stop with restart after time, it asks you to confirm that you will auto stop and only restart with the space key, and vice versa. 3) The settings need some more details as to their meaning.. for example, what does "mouse dictionary" mean? You could provide more details in a tooltip.

First of all, I want to thank you for developing this plug-in, which is the best plug-in I have ever used Sometimes my bottom caption is still the bottom caption of the last video (but my right caption bar is already the caption of this video) sometimes my bottom caption bar doesn't show anyway (the right caption bar shows normal) I tried clearing cache, restarting chrome but nothing works. By the way I'm having these problems watching youtube on a Mac

Excellent extension, but it could be better if all functions were free.

No longer works. Automatically reports every video I watch for offensive content until I disabled the plugin.

I am a paying Gold subscriber and I can tell you that this extension has promise but is at best in the beta stage. Subtitles often, I mean at least 50% of the time do not load on youtube. I get a brief notification that subtitles are loading, then nothing..... Second, none of my settings are saved, for example, font size always reverts back to default. Often "O" shortcut does not function (this is a shortcut for showing/hiding mother language subtitles. They should refund our money until this is a functional extension. Very frustrating experience

It was not translating the Japanese language.

Upper subtitle display incomplete! I tried two browsers for Netflix: Chrome & AVG. both have problems. the both can NOT display full subtitle is the subtitle is multi-lines! As for AVG, there's another problem: I can't choose another language for the lower subtitle. and, the netflix's subtitle button is ruined!

effective extension for language learning

I am a web developer and a person with accessibility needs. I speak fluently 3 human languages and currently learning Spanish via this amazing extension. The developer team has created something truly amazing of an epic engineering feat, and I don't put it lightly, it is not easy to build what they have built to learn another human language; They are also very responsive towards bugs and customer relations. I am a happy returning customer now :)

Used to be really good but now just says 'loading main subtitle' no matter what.

I can't seem to get it to work on Netflix. I've tried changing the subs to Japanese but it doesn't work and gives me a pop up to start a free trial. I tried to test it with Chinese also and it still doesn't work (it didn't give me a free trial pop up though) and the Netflix tester is already off like it had recommended. I'm disappointed it isn't working. On Youtube it seems to work, keyword is seem, because you can't change how the subtitles are placed. What I mean by this is where it mentioned you can add words and save them for later; it only saves the English words, I know English and want to save the Japanese words. I tried changing it but it won't change spots. I also tried to use the pronunciation, thinking that although it shows English words when I place my curser over it it briefly changes to its Japanese equivalent, but when I click on it it just reads the English word. I am very disapointed

UPDATE: I have now tried to do the free trial by putting my card and in and it STILL isn't working. This is garbage. Test mode on Netflix is disabled. Premium mode paid for. And still doesn't work. Could not recommend this whatsoever. This seems like a great extension but I live in Korea and it just isn't working. No matter what program I select on Netflix, it says the English subtitles are "loading...." but they never actually load. I have done everything I can and it won't work without having to pay. Even then, I don't think I'd pay because it still might not work. I've sent an email so hopefully this can be fixed. :(

Unbelievably useful! I use the premium features to learn vocabulary on the context. It saved hours of my life watching my favorite movie on YouTube. I don't need to waste my time looking up words in the dictionary, it simply gives me the meaning, really quickly! A must-have tool for watching Netflix and YouTube.

I love it! I always wanted to learn other languages while I'm watching Netfilx. But, I have one question. How can I download whole scripts on Netfilx?

I LOVE this app/extension. Seriously, I spent ages finding extensions to do what this does in one. I looked for an extension to do pop-up translations (one that was hard to find that had pronunciations, had an established dictionary source and just generally worked), one to export into Anki, and I was in the process of looking for a bilingual subtitle/transcript rendering app when I found this one. This will make the process of collecting words and reviewing them on Anki more seamless much much faster. Thank you to the developers for doing this work!

It doesn't work on Netflix and works on YouTube. The only solution to Netflix's error is to shut down this app. I hope you solve this problem quickly. thank you.

I use the auto stop to see the sentences closely, but the stopping point is close to a starting part of new sentences. It will be more helpful if it stops at the end of current sentences so that I can take a time to read them without going backward.

It needs an English dictionary because translated texts ruin the experience. A lot of them are wrong.. Turkish for example

It did not let me use a secondary language without having to pay.. I thought the whole point of this extension was to allow you to display two different languages of subtitle for free (ex: Japanese + English), I instead find out that I have to pay to do this. I like how it asks you to choose your target language, but this is defeated when you have to pay just to display the target language alongside the mother language. Please make this option free as it will attract a lot more customers.

Great extension! Automatically loads subtitles and once you've activate the shortcuts you can go back and forth between sentences. This is a really useful feature when it comes to learning languages. So thx a lot!!

In the meantime, I was using automatic translation of YouTube. But the subtitles went so fast that I couldn't read it. I realized how comfortable it is to read fixed subtitles using this app. I paid for the paid version for 3month. I sent you an e-mail because I thought the payment was not made because I didn't log-in and refresh after the first payment. I am grateful that the answer came so quickly. I hope this app get a lot of publicity. I hope it continues to be upgraded.

I don't know where they're getting their dictionaries from, but the word translations for Portuguese suck. Many translations simply don't make any sense (I'm a native speaker) or are just wrong. Also, I would like to be able to play custom subtitles. When I add custom subs to Netflix, I can only see them if the extension is disabled, and I can't seem to be able to select the custom subtitles in the extension. Language Learning with Netflix has the same problem, which is why I was testing this extension. Also, text is not selectable, which sucks. Also, hiding subtitles is a paid feature. I'd be okay with that if the paid version had many useful extra benefits, but it doesn't. It simply isn't worth it, beign that Language Learning with Netflix exists.

I'll give this app 10/10 if the developer did a few things: 1- Add shortcuts. 2- Shortcut to save current subtitle this is very IMPORTANT. 2- Save the current subtitle with time. 3- Save Youtube scripts to Anki with embedding the Youtube video time like, for example, this great excitation (Youtube2Anki).
