Great so fat,,, it make all that white background go away
Works well but does not include styles for visited URLs which make visited links to look similar to new ones in the dark mode. Had to add the following styles into the extension global-new.css file to make visited links to look differently: html > body[class] a:visited,html > body[class] a[class]:visited { color: #c58af9 !important; }
Doesn't really work on most sites
awesome
I have been looking for exactly this functionality for a while. Does exactly what is specified
I tried several similar extensions. But only this one did what I want. The ONLY ONE worked for me.
Though I really hate downloading and using extensions that are a bit shady but at least for now it's working "right". I don't recommend it because it might have suspicious code implemented. Just bear with the portable sunlight if you can.
It does it's job on the site I got it for
by this extension i can wok..! late night #Graph_Inn #Pinterest
It doesn't work on Google Pages (any of them) at all. Google Account Manager, Google Sign in page everything.
Doesn't do anything at all.
This extension is amazing! Quick and easy way to make websites that don't have dark mode embedded in them, dark mode! Really recommend this when you are using chrome at like 3am.
It's great but does not work on google sheets, other than that it's all good.
Works great for most websites. Only issue is on google image search it'll black out all results unless you turn it off of automatic. It also sometimes doesn't dark mode a website for some reason. Otherwise it works great 90% of the time and is a necessary app to stave off headaches.
Best dark mode extension I've found, and have tried at least 4. Question: How can I export whitelisted sites for use on a different computer. It would be a convenient feature to not have to re-whitelist all sites. Thank you.
Intrusively advertises other extensions. Awful
I use websites like leetcode and hackerrank and it completely removes coloring of code in editor. In my opinion Dark Reader is miles ahead of others.
installed this extension to add dark mode on mdn developer tools.thanks to god it worked ,if found any error will update you
Good, but some visual information are lost, like on Google, websites you've visited already vs the ones you have not. Or on some websites that accept star rating, the stars are all the same when you choose a rating. Overall, this is a good extension if you don't mind such details.
Just tried this and wow, I'm loving it! Way better than any other dark mode extensions I've used! great job, dev!
it breaks amazon but everything else works fine so far. I used to use dark reader but I really got tired of waiting pages to color themselves after the load this extension is perfect compared to that
It is the worst thing ever which didn't even work
I wish I had this 20 years ago. At least I have it now =)
its the best basically
Best of its breed! Also features a super handy button to quickly whitelist any site (like Tabnine).
Working very well on all sites... :)
I don't know about the accusations against it but it doesn't look the best. It does have a nice black colour but desaturates all the colours, most notably orange. There are many other extensions for this, don't get this one.
by far the best night mode extension i've encountered. sometimes certain images will not load/be greyed out, but it's really not too bad. mostly just like the occasional magnifying glass on a search bar. it does a really good job of maintaining the appearance of a website rather than just putting everything on a plain dark background.
Kill most of website elements, aggressively and unwisely change colors and layout(???).
I just want a darker page, thats all ...and i got it
I'm not sure how to rate this. Over a month ago I noticed that sites I visit frequently suddenly all were getting black backgrounds, ugly white borders around objects, and becoming generally too ugly to use. Eventually I tracked it down to the Microsoft profile I was using in Edge (Chromium). And today I realized that the culprit was this extension. I have since discovered that the extension can easily be turned on and off on a page-by-page basis using the icon in the toolbar at the top of the window. So that's good. And it's user error that I didn't realize that (a) I had the extension installed and (b) that I didn't know how to use it. My bad there. But now that I know, I still think I'm going to delete. Dark mode is not easy. I see others here who've had positive results and I'm happy for them. But CSS (what this extension must be adjusting behind the scene) is HARD and in my experience, this extension had a very unattractive effect on sites that I like (e.g. reddit). Not worth it. Edge has a dark mode option itself, but the best option is for the particular site to have created a dark mode version. So one thumb sideways from me.
White web pages strain my eyes. I've tried many and more of the various extensions and even a couple of wholly separate browsers just trying to find one that a) turns white web pages dark/black while having an option to mark a site as unnecessary to darken, and b) that doesn't screw up colors in things that aren't text or background i.e. images. This one works, and well. I believe it is still a young extension and, as a result, can't correct every site in existence at this time, but it does what it should where it does work, and hopefully they get the recognition and funding needed to never go away. Dear devs: good work, good luck, keep it up. Looking forward to sending some aid to your patreon or whatever
Really helps, I always have my PC on the lowest level of brightness and most websites are still bright to me (even with the "Night Light" on). This is really a game changer.
Only thing I could wish for here (still going 5-stars) is that the active Tab were more quickly distinguishable from the others - the font's color variation doesn't contrast enough from the other tabs. Other than that, loving it.
Just got it. Loving it so far. works well even on non popoular sites and doesn't block images
This is a very clever dark mode and it works 99% of the time. if has all kinds of clever features such as being able to whitelist the rare website where it doesn't work. it is very clever and out of all the extensions i found for dark mode this one stuck out the most. this is a *must have* for pc users
YES!!! 100% what i was looking for!!!!!
it works great! even on websites like mixdrop, unlike other apps that would mess up those types of websites!
Didn't turn out as I expected it.
So far, so good. This is working to make pages I use regularly, like Docs and Pinterest, dark without breaking them. God bless you for saving my eyes while I'm writing the next great masterpiece.
It would be better if auto-mode schedule is customizable
Its a good dark mode but for me it sometimes shows the borders around the links. I don't know if it is intentional but it does bother me a little
I gotta say, this is pretty incredible. Woowee I recommend! give it a try friendos!
my eyeballs are huge fans - this is the best auto dark theme out there, the algorithm that handles the contrast is super smart and well designed - it doesn't just darken the background and make the text lighter, it enhances the existing site - its easy to use and unobtrusive and doesn't prompt you for money
This is the best one out there
Its easy to used and work just fine.
From what I've seen, it is the best non-official solution to bright webpages there is. Some websites may need to be whitelisted, and the only problem is that obviously the extension does not know exactly what to darken and what to leave bright, making some text hard to read in some fringe cases.
For the entire internet? Not quite. Right off the bad I see it dosn't work on the chrome website lol.....so that's a big fail. Also doesn't work on amazon. Seems to only work on a couple sites.
Pros: Open source so it's more trustworthy with your data. This pro basically trumps all because, yes, extensions like this can read your website data if they so choose (i.e. any form you fill in... like... credit cards and passwords). The only way to be reasonably sure they're NOT stealing your data is to use open source software. Supports whitelisting so that sites which provide their own good looking dark themes can run on their own (i.e. youtube etc) This feature in particular is extremely important since some sites have their own excellent dark mode themes and some sites only have a dark design so you would have to manually toggle Dark Night every time you go there if not for this whitelist feature. Cons: Some sites look better when using other dark-mode extensions compared to Dark Night Mode because they handle icons etc. better and sometimes a simple color inversion (which Dark Night doesn't quite do) just looks better. Some dark mode extensions (i.e. Hacker Vision) support hot keys so you can instantly toggle a site. Dark Night requires you to mouse-click the extension icon which is slower. This extension does not work on Fire Fox.
Awesome, simple app! Makes annoyingly bright sites that don't have a native dark mode switch to a less intense look and works surprisingly well!
I do like how most sites look with this extension, but the font (which would usually be black), against the dark background is a bit too dark of a grey to see a nice contrast to read/type easier
Not working on any site on linux
Dope.
Does what it claims and it's open sourced!
Make youtube video black on full screen model. Can do any better job?
It doesnt affect images it doesnt make already dark mode website to white mode I had at least 2 extension that did ok job of dark theme this extension replaces them all...
This is exactly what I wanted just a dark screen theme not color inversion. Nice job!
My eyes! Thank you <3 :))))
It's One Of The Best! And If it doesn't work, all you have to do is white list the site!
good
It is a good app that really not just inverting the color which is weird sometimes on the webpage. And i'm waiting for the auto mode to have a customised time schedule. Thanks for your effort and the free version offered!
It works for me but could it be updated so that already visited links are highlighted in a different color?
great app!
So good.
Phenomenal Dark mode, the best suited for Jira and I have all the popular ones.
You helped someone a lot who was going to school with the remaining side effects of a concussion. I can look at my screen for longer. This is a life saver. Thank you
edit. ok, does not work so far on git hub. It did not change the blinding white space I'm trying to read. other white pages it has darkened, so ill keep it a wile. and this page we'er on is not change. But found this "Suggestion : Dark Mode will not work in this page because Google Chrome do not allow extensions to modify certain pages due to security reasons."
Great extension!!!
I use it in both of my Chrome sesions. I simply don't get why is it rated four stars since it's free and better than other extensions that just invert colours. Nice job!
Best dark mode ext on the store rn. Would give 6 stars if I could.
App works great for me. Negative reviews seem false. Great extension.
Works well, but I wish the links were a different color.
finally one that matches my taste.
Wow! I love this extension it saved my eyes thank you!!
Auto mode doesn't work
I love this, its solve my problem
Doesn't work.. Maybe out of service, but at me nothing goes dark..
Finally a decent extension doing its job properly and doesn't try to rob you off with 40ā¬. Thank you developers!!
I love this extension. Everyone should have it, it makes browsing at night so much easier on the eyes, and much more custom than just have f.lux or night mode enabled on your screen
Saving my eyes
Seriously impressed. I've been using dark mode extensions since this year and tried a lot of them. This is one of the best one I've found so far. Especially when reading a Google Docs. This Extension lets you see the highlighted text (the highlights downplayed to suit dark mode). Awesome work!
Exactly what I was looking for. Had tried the "flags" dark mode built into the Chrome, and which gave weird and unreadable results. Then by luck came across this extension, which is just right! Thanks and rgds. ps if there are any places where you are not satisfied with the result, you simply push the "whitelist" button, and on that site it stays default. Perfect.
Finally found an extension that works 5 STAR thanks to the developers. LOVE IT
Definitely the best dark mode extension I've used, it doesn't do the lazy color inversion way of making websites dark but rather preserves colors nicely in most cases and darkens overly bright parts
Great extension. Shame it takes two outside developers to do what Google should have accomplished years ago. This extension deserves 5 stars and Google should stop allowing bots to bombard the reviews with fake one star ratings.
Easily the best Dark Mode extension for any browser, very happy with it.
THE BEST of all EXTENSIONS..I tried them all believe me..I have serious problems with my eyes and I was desperate but now I fell great USING THIS so I recommend IT! ;)
Worked as expected. Could be better if it supports for even more websites. Kuddos to the developer!
While the extension is great, it tends to disable itself on a regular basis. It disappears from the extensions sidebar while still being installed (and doesn't work, obviously). It's definitely not something on my side, as it's the only extension of almost twenty, many of which are in active use, that behaves this way. That's unfortunate, because it's pretty good otherwise.
Been using for years. Back when it was 2.5 stars. At the time, I had used about 4 or 5, really enjoyed TLV for its customization but ended on this as my main cause it is just solid. That being said, the auto apply feature has been buggy for me lately. Currently I have it set for 6pm start time, and it's 8, and it's still not activating. That being said, I still decided to come here and give it a review because I remembered I hadn't yet, and really am so grateful and impressed with it's functionality despite the recent hiccup. Hopefully it get's sorted.
Absolutely love this extension !!!! After trying about about a dozen others this just works right out of the box without adjusting anything anything and darkens faster than my eyes can really notice.Amazon is the the only site so far it a nano-second to darken but once you hit search and look for your item its perfect .Just give it a try you will not regret it !!!
I like it but I'm just stunned that it doesn't seem to work on Google sites, which is ironic. I'd also like to see it work on Amazon, but otherwise it seems to work great so far.
Works perfectly as advertised except that it made videos no longer display AT ALL in full-screen.
So many errors !
It works so well so far! I've tried so hard to find something that'll give me dark mode on g drive and this is it. Finally! Thanks for this ^^
Love this app except for glitch on https://www.espn.com/ when page first loads tons of glaring white then reload page all black returns like it should. Kind of annoying. Fix possible maybe ?
Just flat out did not work, even on the page I downloaded it from
Good & free but does miss some spots. On Facebook & Google Calendar I get a few white spots and sometimes the text or other colors gets messed up, particularly in Google Calendar. Overall night eye is better but paid.
Works nicely, much better than others that I have used including a paid night mode app. When the developer makes donations available (they are working on it according to their webpage), I will gladly donate some funds since this extension is simple to use and actually functions properly. Thank you for your creation!
One of the most useful extensions available. So much less strain on my eyes.
Works with almost all sites. Easy to use and configure.
Better than using a global userstyle. Doesn't work on some sites like google translate, but it's the best dark mode extension I've used.
