Randomly resets the time spent counter, so not as efficient as i would like.
I liked the concept but it needs some improvement like once set limit it should not be available for update in next 24 hours.
does what its supposed to do as efficiently what more can anyone ask for ?
thank you for making this slight oversight i want to report I appreciate the timer change to be counting down, however the desktop notifications still trigger in the order they used to where if i limit youtube to 80 minutes, instead of getting a 10 minute warning in 70 minutes, i get it in 10.
It works like the digital well-being feature of Android phones. Very convenient to set healthy limits for browsing specific websites.
I love this idea and became a lifetime subscriber to Freedom just to get this. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work. It will get stuck at a particular time (I use the timer) - maybe at 0 minutes, maybe at 9 minutes, etc. Usually (but not always) disabling the limits and then re-enabling them makes it work again. I really hope they get the kinks worked out, because when it does work, it keeps my online usage within reasonable limits and keeps me from wasting time online!
simple and effective tool. would love if we could specifify time in units of time that arent 5-minute blocks. like 3, 4, or 7. seems an uncessary constraint. i would use the feature for a "quick fix". social = DMs, news = headlines, and OUT!
It's great while it works, but sometimes it just stops working. It won't block the websites because it seems like the timer is broken or something and its not counting the time spent on the website.
Exactly what I needed.
First, I am not finished with your tool yet!! I see now that the timer for my using Startpage's search site isn't operating. Please get this fixed. Alright? I want to stick with you! Thank you!..
Amazing, I love it!
I wish if there is a blocking whole category for specific amount of time, Instead of having every website as a standalone.
not consistent, very simple and easy to use but it happens a lot where it does not work. I can be watching to much youtube video and the timer is at 0 min. The reason I give this a 2 star is because once reached your daily limit for youtube it makes all you youtube video in every tabs stop working!! This mean, the next day, I can't even go back to watch those videos!! the link is corrupt and lost what I was watching. That is annoying. You can't F5 a page where it's writing "you've reached your daily limit for youtube". There is no way, can't edit the URL because there is some ASCII character all mess up in the link. to fix this, give me the link to the page you block for me. That's it. I believe this was not an issue before last january update.
This is amazing!!! Could you perhaps also display the frequency of visit along with time spent on a website?
Did not work for blocking Twitch.tv
Made me realise how addicted I was to all the useless distracting pages. Thank you!
I keep opening the setting and extending the time limit, could u add a feature that remind me what to do like combine with to-do-list or smth
Worked great initially. Unfortunately the timer seems to have stopped working after a few days. My youtube time is stuck at 0 minutes even though I am using the site. Update - Now its working again! Not sure what was wrong!
loved it! but i think it should have options to limit downloads etc.
Works really well, no issues at all. Works exactly as expected.
The timer works but even after exceeding the allowed time it does not prevent me from entering the website that i have limited (not youtube and social media) and it does not open a green background and so on as it is written in the description. So disappointing.
best option to keep you from distractions
I am missing reset time option
This is perfect for someone with ADHD like me. It's easy to use and blocks effectively. It can be disabled easily when I'm not working or on a break. The bright green screen Limit uses is a perfect warning when getting off task. I'm able to close the tab and try focusing again. It's also very handy that Limit shows how long you've been using each website and can have time-based limits set for various websites. This keeps me from, for example, falling down a Wikipedia hole by jumping from one article to the next. When I reach my time limit for the day, I immediately see that green screen warning me that I got off task again. If I do end up needing to use a blocked or limited website for work, I can easily go into the settings and add time to the limit. This tool works perfectly.
Very simple and easy to use/turn on and off and you can add as many websites on it as you want; very convienent.
This is exactly what I needed! Simple. Does the job. Please make an iOS app as well, if not done already. If there is one, please let me know, I would love to have it on my iPhone as well!
This extension is AWESOME. Great for building discipline. Doing school and this helped me a LOT with my adhd. God bless you and have a Blessed day
I feel like an idiot for not having installed this extention 5 years ago... so clean and easy to use!!
It worked fine until recently. Now the displayed timer doesn't track time at all (broken clock). I'm not sure if it has anything to do with my using Windows 8.1, which no longer accepts updated versions of Chrome. I tried clearing my browser cache but that didn't seem to help.
Great extension to remove distractions. Highly recommend!
Great tool! Just one suggestion though: I've found that the optional timer doesn't update when I switch between tabs of the same website. For example, I'll spend 20 minutes on one Youtube tab and spend 5 minutes on another, but the timers on both tabs won't sync with one another. So a live-update feature on the timer across multiple tabs(of the same website) would be much appreciated!
Does exactly what I need it to do. Two suggestions: 1. I wish there was a way to make it more difficult to enable/disable the extension, such as requiring typing a paragraph perfectly before you can disable it. 2. Similarly, being able to set time limits to the extension page itself would also be helpful.
Works great! Thanks!
I actually love this extension. Best extension by a long way in terms of anyone who cares about their digital hygiene. Simple set and forget settings, then boom - reap the rewards for life. It pushes you to get Freedom which is a freemium blocking app for focus sessions. But I don't need blocking, just limits, and this does me very well.
I am sad, I cannot open those distracting sites. Too good.
Useful, does exactly what it says. Options are VERY limited however, and I'd really like to turn off windows notifications without turning off Chrome notifications entirely.
It helped me stay off youtube and “other” sites.
Love the app. Simple and effective !!
Thanks for helping me maintain focus! This is a good extension to have and I'm glad it can still serve a good purpose for people unable to pay. However, I would really prefer it if the timer was able to be moved. It makes things illegible or hard to click sometimes.
This is actually just so helpful for getting work done
Good to have!
Overall a helpful extension. Main issue is that when I have tabs paused and when I come back later they dont reload as the page they were before and the link is broken since all the slashes have been replaced by %20's and the like. It's annoying since if you had say, a facebook marketplace ad open, it's hard to get back to it again.
This app is certainly useful to control the time spent on different apps. I have a suggestion. It would be good to have the timer block moveable on the computer screen. That way we can avoid its blocking useful information displayed on the screen.
great!!! helps now that i want to battle my materialism
Great so far! I do wish there were an option to only show the timer on sites with the time limit enabled, instead of every site
Let me watch my videos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks tho -.-
This is the best extension for productivity.... Thanks to the developer...
First class. Congrats!
The best and simplest extension to block websites. Thank you so much.
The outline of this extension is a pleasing texture, along with simple functions and easy to use settings. Its a great extension to use, so that you prevent any long tangents of netflix or youtube.
was looking for something like for ages
The thing I needed all my life. I get carried away easily and this is THE extension. It's amazing!
works perfectly i use it to lock up some websites by putting the 0 minute in and it works wonders becouse i tend to open those websites as a reflex when im bore. It reminds me to go back to my work. Love it alot. Thank you for helping me out
This extension is so great. I had a bad habit of distracting myself while doing work and by this limiting my distraction, I get to deploy deep focus on my work and study. Thanks for this!! One thing I am suggesting though, I don't see the time of the daily limit reset and would be glad if you could add it :)
It is wonderful to have such a simple tool to help limit mindless browsing. However, even upon first installation, there are several obvious design limitations: 1) The optional timer shows up on EVERY page, even ones not being tracked. 2) The timer cannot be customized, and places a sizable interface on the top right corner of sites, where many menus are located 3) The app does not track window focus, at least on OSX. If you leave a website with a limit open, change to another application, and walk away, you will likely come back to that website locked for the day. Without these flaws, this would be close to perfect. With them, I'm left a little frustrated.
works as indented only thing that can be improved has to be timer maybe something not so huge, a minimal small sized one would make it so much better
Works as advertised. A few suggestions: - an option to add a site to the list while on that site, without having to open extensions page - more inconspicuous timer
Really useful extension, my only gripe is that I really want to have the timer displayed all the time, but currently the timer is way too large and intrusive on the webpage I'm trying to view. If there were an option to make it smaller, maybe just showing the time instead of the "time spent on website.name" I would be happier
Really love this. I use to use "block site" extensions, but the issue was that I sometimes want to, and think it's fine to, see the sites I also want to block. This way, I can set different "limits" for different sites, allowing me to avoid crazy procrastination on distracting sites without blocking them altogether. I also like the calm "you have reached your limit" green screen that tells me it's time to focus, but also doesn't make me feel like I did anything wrong.
great extension, but the timer is too large and covers up important content on some websites. I wish we could move or shrink it.
works great
Good extension for the user who has been wasting their time on nonsense social media, especially me. xD:
Amazing.
I am extremely amazed by this extension. It has started to help me to limit myself from these online and social medias.Thank You Devs of This Extension I am really glad for it.
I love the limit, but it doesn't redirect me to the calming Green Screen for websites I've placed myself. Also, it would be a lot better if the timer was only shown on websites that have been limited rather than all websites. Fix these two problems and I would definitely give a 5 star.
this has been helping me so much now that's school has started again. thank you for this incredible tool!
A great extension!!
Simple, free, functional, and good looking. I'm using this for myself to limit my own distraction websites (ie: not for my kids). I like that I can toggle it on/off easily for when I actually need a youtube video for work purposes. I like that the "blocked" screen is simple and calm. I might recommend having some kind of "password input" required to turn off. Then a user can set a complicated password which increases the level of effort to turn off the block; makes it one more mental hurdle to turn off the app.
The extension is pretty good and focus on only one functionality that I want. The timer is pretty useful for self-monitoring but I wish it is movable or more transparent because sometimes it is difficult to see what's behind the timer. Other than that, everything else is pretty much on point.
best extension i've ever used
It just works, kudos to the devs
Great app. Only thing I would suggest is making an option for a timer only on websites with time limits.
Works as intended. Thanks
It works as expected. Love the simple UI. Thanks for making this great tool free.
Does the job according to its name. It considers the time spent only actively on a web page, not when it's just opened in the background. This is great although I specifically didn't ask for that and would definitely want this by default. My demands would seem too much, but hope the team would consider to the features below in order of priority: 1. The display timer box takes a lot of screen space at the top right corner. Would instead prefer it to be inside the extension pop down when clicked, or atleast an option for that. 2. As it's already having data of how much time is spent on each website, it could just add a basic report of website usage 3. User customizable text message and background image for sites that have reached limit. 4. This may not be a crucial ask, but if the background image could be linked to a wallpaper site it would be great. Thanks a lot for your efforts and providing this awesome extension for free. Really saves a lot of the very important wealth - time.
Помогает бороться с прокрастинацией! Спасибо!
Thank you for making it free
It works perfectly. I was really looking for this type of limiting tool for a long time. Finally I got the perfect one.
Good starting place for setting limits on how much time you spend on a website. It could use a couple of updates. 1. Would be good to be able customize the message it displays when I hit my max time on a website 2. Wish it allowed for forced breaks from a website by letting me choose 24hr, 7 day, 14 day, and 1 month block options for certain websites. All in all it works, but it's very easy to bypass.
I love limit as it allows me to waste less time on unproductive things, and I have more time to work, I've noticed that ever since using limit I've almost doubled my productivity. I've also increased in my mindfulness while browsing the web, thank you limit!
Limit does not prevent me from accessing a website after the time limit is reached.
Indeed good for ADHD. However, why bother tweak blocking website in setting page? Just add a bottun in the extension or right click menu, click and ban?
good one
I love the wide range of options it provides.. it works perfectly ..loving it..it definitely helped me to come out of my utube addiction. THANK UUU
good, but for some reason it counts down on localhost? can't see it on the list though so i can't change that, please fix as soon as possible
I'm using the combination of Pause & Limit extension and its working good for me. Just one issue and missing setting (in Limit extension) is that - Timer should only be shown on websites you added in settings and not all sites. At least a settings toggle to NOT show timer on sites you haven't added.
Very nice timer on top of every site. However, it is on for literally EVERY website. Also, when the timer exceeds the limits, nothing happens.
great
بتساعد كثير لانه ما نحس بالوقت الي نمضيه على مواقع التواصل والانترنت ✨
I love limit, its awesome, I'd love if freedom came with limit but for apps
I love this app, Ive had a problem focusing on my studies as when I am on the computer I will go on apps like instagram or TikTok or always seem to find little loopholes to end up getting distracted. With this app, I have been MUCH more productive, and I strongly recommend y'all getting it if you struggle with time management.
I guess I'll write a review to get a question answered, as John seems super responsive to reviews. Does this not work for subdomains? i.e. instead of reddit.com, if I put in reddit.com/r/movies? I want to limit certain subreddits while still allowing myself to use others. But it seems like it's not working.
Completely free, sleek, and functional
i just love it
Best app for avoiding distractions. Very easy and simple to use and above all it's FREE :D
hi,is there anyway of blocking the extension puzzle icon so i cant switch off the timer for daily use? so im totaly limited to the time ive set? if anyone knows how i would be grateful,im totaly addicted to surfing the net and facebook, thank you, love the extension.
Right now I need to study for my finals and this bold green red illuminated my screen. Thank you for this extension
Great tool that is simple to set up and easy to configure. It's a great way to stay aware of how much time is being spent on entertainment and is a good reminder to stay focused. I've found it very helpful to stay on track with my work.
The basic thing I needed is working, but the extra setting "Show time spent on website" sounded nice at first, but displays a huge box in the right-top corner which more often than not overlays something I want to read, click or otherwise see..
So glad i found this tool! Thank you Freedom team!
gpod
An excellent tool, does what it says on the tin. An excellent way to keep one's Twitter (or other guilty-pleasure site) consumption in check.
really shows me how much time I've been spending on social media. Frees up my time to do more valuable things
Very convenient!
So far so good. Does this count time only on my desktop or will my phone usage on a particular site also be noted? Is there a way to go to settings and see how much time has been spent on a site today?
this is an awesome extension, thanks for sharing this.
great
VERY VERY VERY GREAT ?♥?
Simple and functional, I would add some kind of add time button and that it could be clicked once, like a last warning, also show a more little timer with a drag and drop function to a more customizable experience.
Its wonderful! but also the problem arises when my mind tells me to stop the limit so if there was a way to totally hide the settings...... and never return to them or smth? thanks
I'm gonna say the same thing most of the people already said in the reviews: Great extension that works perfectly, developers did a great job, but: Extra options that would be very useful 1. 1 minute countdown so you know the tab is almost being closed (i feel like this is almost a necessity) 2. Ability to show timer only on limited sites 3. Ability to move timer pop-up If the developers could add these the extension would be perfect.
I love it
it works, simple and effective..
Its a good extension but the problem after the time limit is over it does not give any notification or anything saying its over however I have been able to see how much time I have spent it thats why I like this would be good btw if you fix that first problem though
Nice
nice extension ,prevents wastage of time
Really helped me spend less time on reddit. Love it.
its good
This add-on is very helpful to stop indulging from Youtube. I decided to set 1 hour maximum for it and 25 minutes for other social media.
largely works for me
It is really nice that I don't have the option to just continue using sites right away, because if I did have the option then I would just continue on. This helps my lazy brain move.
i wish if found this plugin earlier.. i would like to see some features like.. showing timer only on the blocked sites? and customize the timer display like drag and drop to any corner.. most of the time its getting overlapped on other plugin popup messages..
Wonderful. Elegant design, and simple to use. I'd suggest enabling users to minimize/hide the time counter. However, sometimes, when I move the time counter, even though I have stopped pressing my mouse button, it doesn't let go of the counter, and it gets irritating at times.
Doesnt work. Timer shows that I've far exceeded the time "Limits" but it doesn't actually do anything.
Simple and intuitive - really helpful! I kind of wish though that I could adjust the visible timer size. I know that there is an option to hide it but I want to know how much time I have left. Moreover, as suggested here before - A warning or a countdown of the last minute or so would be amazing improvement!
Great when trying to focus, and gives you the opportunity to remain focused troughout your work-day
nothing happens after my time limit has passed? theres a timer on the website i put a limit on, and after the 20 minute limit, the timer just keeps going and nothing happens?
Amazing service, very helpful.
Doesn't do anything it says.
Simple. Perfect. Add a button to add like 5 min tho...
so good
After the largest social media platform was unreachable, I found some sense of relief that day knowing I can't spend any time on them. I'm using Freedom to give me back my time if I'm having trouble with self control. Seeing the time I spend on the page really helps me manage my time better.
