Good, just that some webside have locked the right-click function which prevent us from using this extension. hope there's an alternative way to change the encording.
The extension results in the below error when accessing Oracle Cloud Console. Unexpected Error Something went wrong. Please try again later. Removing or disabling this extension fixed the issue. I noticed this behavior with one more extension : EditThisCookie Disabling both this Extension EditThisCookie Set Character Encoding fixes the issue. Observed this in Latest chrome version.
It works
It works fine!
F***ing google inc., they removed encoding selecting tool from chrome when I was sleeping. However NO PROBLEM, I found 'Set Character Encoding', a fantastic extension which enable me to select encoding in a page. It was a miracle. He cured all my pages' wrong-encoding problem. He is my Messiah.
Thank you, guys!
Doesn't seem to work any more, there's no longer a context menu
The menu item never appeared at all when right-clicking in any website.
Just works. Simple and useful.
Have an issues, for example when we select utf-8 in chrome the character - is displayed as – but is displayed correctly in FF, I am using: Chrome Version 71.0.3578.98 (Official Build) (64-bit)
doesn't work with content which is not text/html Sometimes makes the page look odd
doesn't work with content which is not text/html
Worked perfectly. Was able to find the correct character set quickly, and it wasn't what I initially thought it would be. My only feedback would be that it would be cool to add a feature that gave you the option to copypasta the code needed to drop into your site if you're a dev. Thanks for this awesome resource!
doesn't work
Not working, still seeing the URL encdoing
change to UTF-8 but nothing changed. Firefox shows content in UTF-8 successfully
not working
very usefull when i check js file
Did exactly what I needed it to do!
doesn't work anymore
not working on 62.0.3198.0 (Official Build) dev (64-bit)
Congrat! It works as expected ! I don't know why Chrome doesn't add this feature but this plugin does the job.
thank you for your extension!
can not change encoding mode
really simple and easy to use. thank you very much!
Conflict with web.archive.org captures overview page. Hope there'll be an update solving this problem.
Better than the original Chrome encoding tool (which Google stupidly removed)
Very Thanks
Hi! Thank you for extension! I don't use lot of available encodings in menu. Would be very helpful any possibility to set up encodings. I think this can be achived by createing settings page or sort encodings by usage frequency.
Nice!
Great!!
FAIL. Right click opens menu. Left or left click on "Set Character Encoding" opens Chrome Web Store Window.
Short version: Doesn't work on local files. Period. Works on websites otherwise. Long version: I got this extension explicitly for the local "WYSIWYG-compatible" HTML files I make for my stories (for my writing). These generally don't have <head> tags or the like, but up until recently, this generally didn't seem to be a problem for Chrome. Not sure what changed or when, but now, my HTML files are giving me garbage. (Guess Chrome's auto-detection needs work...) Unfortunately, as I found out from reading the Support tab for this addon... it was not designed... in any way, shape, or form... for local, offline files. That beig said, the addon is completely useless to me. However, the addon DOES work exactly as promised on live websites, so it DOES do what it says it does. Just... not in the way I want it to. Maybe some day, Google will fix auto-encoding or make UTF-8 the default when there's no information available. In the meantime... I guess I'll have to find a different solution to my problem... which is a darn shame, honestly... This is a really nice-looking addon.
Way better since Google removed manually encoding menu in Chrome 55. And right-click menu is even more handy than looking for it in More Tools. Thanks for wonderful work.
It is a bad choice for Google to remove the menu item to set encoding manually.
can not change encoding mode
crap
What it says on the tin. Pretty much the same menu and functionality that what was formerly built-in in chrome
It works! Lots of options, plus the convenience of right-clicking context menu. Thank you so much!
Adds a nice option to the right-click menu for convenient use. Since the removal of the encoding menu, several foreign websites, and documents no longer display correctly. Using this extension allows me to continue using Chrome for those websites and documents. Thank you!
A real lifesaver since the encoding menu was removed in Chrome 55.
