Add the option to disable the new tab feature.
Too many permissions! I can not trust it.
why can't I add the second location, and only one is possible??
Forcing us to use Bing as our search engine on Chrome desktop is unacceptable. Disabled.
this is an extension was change my default search engine and my new tab page. full control of my browser or is this an extension? i pick full control, for me, it's first.
Insists on forcing me to change my search engine. Unacceptable!
It could be great, but it hijacks search (and other) settings in unacceptable ways. They could literally multiply the size of their user base, but these practices disqualify them outright as an option. It honestly makes me second guess using their android app...a person has to wonder if there are privacy lines being crossed there, as well??! Like many others reviewers have said: It's really a shame. If the developers read this - You are making a huge mistake, and squandering an opportunity to absolutely dominate. Whoever decided this was the best way to do things...well...they were wrong. But it's not too late to drop the shady practices. It's not too late YET. Stop kneecapping yourselves!
App is great itself. However, being forced to use bing is a big no no. I had to remove the app.
Takes control of your browser and opens each time you start your browser. There's no way to disable it either.
Deleted it reluctantly Accuweather is a reliable weather source, but the extensions forces me to use Bing search which I don't want. Uninstalled, unfortunately
The extension has many useful features but it hijacks the search function in a way that cannot be edited. As in if you install this extension, it will block you from choosing your preferred search engine used from the URL bar, forcing Bing. This cannot be fixed without disabling the extension, making it unusable. I frankly don't understand why this browser feature even exists. Allowing extension to change search engine is OK, locking it is ridiculous. So either you can have a useful search function from the URL bar, or you can have this extension. I choose a useful search function. It's a shame, otherwise it's pretty nice, but disabling basic functions of a browser is not acceptable. I deleted this extension within hours.
Forcing a chrome user to use Bing rather than Google search makes no sense. Some advice. Either offer a fully integrated standalone Windows-10 app, or at least change the Chrome extension so that it will use the user to use whatever search engine they want. This will be the 2nd time I've removed this extension because it still forces me to use Bing.
Changes the new tab page and the search engine. Didn't give me an alert for a tornado warning that came through on weather.gov... nice
Extension Obsolete In Edge. Replaced with "install this site as an app" feature in the New Edge-Chrome. Pretty much any website can be converted into a pinned app now.
would like it more if the default search engine wasnt forced
It changes default search engine to accuweather search, NOT GOOD!
Overall, I loved the extension. It is almost perfect. However hijacking my new tab page, which I have a specific one for a reason, and hijacking my search provider, again, I use a specific one for a reason, are complete deal breakers. This extension lasted all of about 4 minutes because of these things.
I love accuweather and I love the extension... but I had to uninstall because you cannot use it without it changing your homepage. I actually like the homepage, but I don't want to use Bing and you can't make me. If I could have the homepage with google search, I'd reinstall - or if I could have just the top toolbar dropdown without having to use the homepage, sadly it's all or nothing and Bing ruins it.
I like the icon on the top showing me the current temperature, but I hate that you change my New Tab page. I'm uninstalling.
Tried the app for about 1 minute, then uninstalled, don't think I will use accuweather again unless they bring the app back to windows 10... don't like how they hijack chrome like a virus.
Like others, I find the forced and permanent override of the New Tab/startup page and search engine an unacceptable level of intrusion. There are less intrusive alternatives to get the current temperature in the info bar, and given the lack of responsiveness to this particular complaint by the developer, it does not appear they are interested in addressing this issue in the foreseeable future.
Read the reviews. Read the Chrome Store Permissions. It takes control of your browser by changing new tabs, hijacking search, giving it notification power, and (the worst) reading your browsing history (even in InPrivate/Incognito mode). I like the Accuweather app for Android. I do not like how this extension seizes power unnecessarily. You do not need to collect all of this information--you choose to collect it for your own purposes. You have been telling people in these Reviews for over a year now that you would take their privacy concerns under consideration as you "work to improve the product." Yet, you have not changed your practices regarding this extension. Under the "Privacy Practices" tab in the Chrome Store it reads: "The publisher has not provided any information about the collection or usage of your data." It collects your searches and can record your travels on the internet. Too bad. From the reviews, it appears there is a internet community that would like to trust you when you are inside their browser. And, so far, it appears that you are not interested in acquiring the trust of that community. These are all just my opinions. I am sure you will find enough people who love to be dazzled and don't mind their personal information and behaviors being possibly monetized for gain.
I love this extention! ? I don't mind the homepage changing at all, because I am installing the extention in Opera which always has the default homepage nevertheless, I don't need it. Opera already provides a section for the weather provided from none-other than you. ? Not many pepole find anything wrong with the homepage except for the search-engine. (As a matter of fact on MY homepage I can't change it away from Google!) Maybe add a setting to change the search-engine away from Bing? ? Honestly I don't mind Bing, it's just a search-engine! Nothing makes a search-engine "special" or "prefered" really, it just provides you search results. However I think maybe adding a option to change it would help with your marketing/selling. ?
Well, the design and use of AccuWeather which I enjoy is the only positive. I'd ask for more customization though! Upon install this changed my default browser to bing and the search bar seems only have it as choice. Sure have that as default - but at least let me change this option once installed and add my own links below search bar. A plus if some RSS feed of my choice comes with it too. All that and this extension would for sure rise in ratings overall.
I want the weather. Not a hijacked New Tab page. Not f**king Bing. Just as screwed up as the Accuweather Android app that they broke and won't fix.
Too many permissions! I can not trust it as a professional user.
Total garbage. Why on earth does it need to be my search engine? Not only that it prevents me from changing to a different one. If you have this, uninstall it. Otherwise look elsewhere.
Too many permissions and you are changing my search engine. I don't like it.
Too many permissions. You don't need my browsing history and I don't want my search settings changed.
Everything about this makes life easier. Weather - Check! Good search results - Check! Great feature too is tracking COVID.... ! Truly glad I downloaded it.
Honestly, I love that this adds weather to my new tab page. In the past, I feel like this was unused space in Chrome. Now I always have some good info to plan my day, not to mention a reason to hit up my family about their #$%@ weather back home! Five stars!
Beautiful design. 5 stars! Thank you Accuweather!
Such a great UX. My new favorite extension highly recommend
I love the weather and being able to see my local weather quickly is a great way to start my day or when I need to step outside!
I have the android app, and this lets me see the weather and the forecast every time I log in. Love the backgrounds too, way better than the default chrome background.
Great looking app and something I will be utilizing everyday! This is an extension that serves a useful purpose, great work.
Hijacked my browser. About 1/2 of the time when I searched and then went to a site, clicked on a link to a second site, and then want to hit the back arrow to go back to the first site, the arrow is grayed out and instead, I have to reopen the weather extension and start my search over again. It is beyond frustrating! I didn't mind the extension always opening for a new tab but only allowing me to surf forward but not backward is ridiculous! Listen to your reviewers!
The app itself is great, it would get 5 stars if it gave me the option to turn off the new tab page. I'll try it again once that's fixed.
love that it's useful and easy to use!
Absolutely do not like the change of homepage.
Like some other reviewers, I really like the extension and the quick access to weather data as well as a visual display of the temperature. I had to rate it two stars (and turn it off) because the fact that you can't opt out of it changing your new page action. I live by the new page and selecting from my most used pages on that new tab page. Accuweather is going to stay turned off until that changes.
Love the extension, ABSOLUTELY HATE that it overrides and changes my New Tab Page. Uninstalled. Too bad. I like the mobile app, I liked the extension and I like the consistency of using both in the absence of Dark Sky but I live and breath by my new tab page so overriding that is a non-starter. Take that out and I will try the extension again.
Nice looking app. This app is rare one that doesn't kill my normal browsing flow.
