I have to restore the Extension at least of once a day. Trying to stay productive as my finger dexterity slides down hill slowly due to Parkinson's. I could not use Dragon for almost a year due to troubles with Internal and external microphone(s). I finally hired a local computer guy to reinstall and fix Dragon, so now it works with my internal microophone and I also can do Zoom again Using the internal microphone.

In addition to everybody else's problems with it crashing– which I've had for ages – the software all of a sudden is making it so that random words have extra letters in them (for example, "prooblems"). This just started yesterday and hasn't remedied itself. At least in the past, it was mostly usable even if I had to restart it every now and then. Now I'm having to go back and edit all sorts of things I write, with my one hand that I can use to type one key at a time, and I'm wasting precious time with work. Just horrible and there's no other real options available.

I injured my hand and about this software to continue practicing law. It is intensely frustrating to open the dictation box everything the time I want to type something into Chrome. The processes slow and rarely responsive.

Well, doesn't look like anyone is reading these reviews from Dragon over the past several years. I keep getting a message that the plug-in has been disabled,even though I haven't made any changes. It works almost exactly half the time to dictate in Outlook for Chrome, which is one of the main places I need to use it. Really frustrating that no one at nuance seems to be paying attention to this. Review from 2020- Have never been able to get it to work- I rely on Dragon on my work computer and love it, it's too bad this extension is so terrible

Everything that everybody has said in the comments I agree withPlus much more I don't feel like trying to dictate. I feel if the company does not even know pay attention to our reviews or update or upgrade the software at all at all. I swore after Microsoft bought them things would change but I guess I was wrong. Yet the same problems in every web browser. EvenOn Microsoft's own the web browserEverything still crashes.. You can even see the errors as I dictate in this review. Good luck and Godspeed. I have no trouble with the Dragon extension for Google Chrome. I need to restore it every time my computer restarts, but it doesn't bother me. A couple of clicks is all it takes to get things up and running again. I don't know anything about the crashing that everyone keeps mentioning in the reviews. That's never happened to me. Anyway, I give it five stars.

We are done with this software. The Dragon software, its web extensions, and even the drivers for the recommended headphones are unreliable and buggy. Constant crashes, slow performance, strange interaction with microphone drivers, memory leaks, so forth and so on. Have tried many attempts to fix issues, including reinstall on a freshly formatted machine and expansion of system memory. I work in a disability resources office in a sizable college, and I am hearing the exact same concerns from our students that use this web extension, and Dragon software in general. Our students rely on dependable adaptive technology in order to access their course materials. This extension is NOT dependable. Given the amount of time these issues have persisted without a fix, I cannot recommend to students, and we will likely move away from this software as an institution when it comes time to upgrade to newer versions.

Abysmal. Constantly crashes and on a regular basis I have to remove and reinstall. However whether it's Google that have the issue or Dragon as it is the worst piece of software that I've ever used.

Keep getting the message " Dragon extension for Chrome has stopped working", re-enabling it is not a matter of just turning it back on as you can only use the dictation box, you have to shut down and reboot for it to work and then it stops again, waiting for my company to move to another platform for voice software, stopped using it in my home pc's.

It crashes multiple times a day. I am glad I spent a small fotune for this program that allows me to become frustrated and angy so often.

I am not sure that Dragon is responses, and my rating is pretty similar to most ratings here so it may be merely redundant. The extension works… Sometimes. There appears to be no rhyme or reason for when it does. And then occasionally it disconnects, has to be uninstalled and reinstalled. Anytime I have more than just a few words to type, I will just pull up Notepad and dictate into it, and then copy and paste. It's a shame, because it's just unnecessary steps for something that should be straightforward.

I would love to try it, but one of the main things I use on the Internet is messenger. As in, messenger.com. Normally, when I send a message, I just say "press enter". When I try this with the extension on, it just goes to the next line and it doesn't send. I'm going to try to mess around with it some more, but when it makes it so awkward to use one of my main web apps, I just can't use it.

It frequently crashes.. It will lock up and the only way to get it to shut down is to restart the computer or go to taskmaster and disable it. Pretty disappointed.

This extension is like the little girl in the nursery rhyme; when it is good, it is very very good, but when it is bad it is horrid! I shouldn't have to remove it and then add it back in order to make it work, because it shouldn't stop working in the first place!

I 100% agree with all the reviews I have read so far regarding this extension. It is not fit for purpose! My get around is to call up DragonPad and dictate all I want to say in DragonPad. Then I "copy all to clipboard" and paste into whatever box I need to report. Not ideal but it is my only way of effectively getting text in any form of accuracy. I am very disappointed that Nuance has not seen fit to pay attention to it's customer base and do something about this extension.

I think the Dragon product is on its last legs unfortunately. Constantly being disabled with a lack of updates these days. Such a shame. Look for alternatives and don't get trapped with a dying product is my recommendation.

Literally never ever works.

I'm trying to use Dragon with Gmail on Chrome using this extension, but it never works. It can barely support some dictation with lots of errors and none of the Dragon commands work at all. I keep having to use the dictation box. This removes most of the value Dragon program has for me. How can this software not work at all on Chrome? Please fix this extension.

since I updated the application recently it seems to have difficultty with spelling simple words. I'm dictating this review and as you cann see it has spelt the word difficulty above wrongly but for some reason has thenn spelt it correctly. It keeps adding letters to quite normal words for no obvious reason which means that I need to go back and edit them. It's donee this several times in thiss review which is very odd. Up to now I have been extremely happy with Dragon so I'm a bit frustrated about why iit suddenly gone wrong in a fairly basic way.

This Extension crashes on a daily basis multiple times a day. Must be removed from chrome and readded to get a semblance of it working again. if I get to dictate in the browser and turn off dictation in the Dragonbar when I turn dictation back on and attempt to dictate something in the browser the dictation box may or may not open up. Please fix this as it is almost unusable the way it is/

It seems to work fairly well when it works, but it frequently and sporadically becomes disabled on its own so I am constantly having to delete the extension and re-install it. Once I do this, I have to back out of everything and start fresh again or the extension will not work at all or will show the dictation box seems to only work half the time. I have to mess with this reinstalling process of the extension at least weekly and at times up to once every day, even after the latest update. This is very frustrating and I would expect more from a company like Nuance and a product as advanced as Dragon dictation software. I have seen this complaint so commonly in the review section it is completely baffling to me why Nuance does not completely rewrite the extension, or at least fix or update the one already existing.

It is very frustrating how poorly Dragon works in the browser, this Extension is pretty much useless. With most of my work happening online, it makes Dragon more frustrating than helpful.

It's not clear what this does. It lets you dictate at least the commands "click <link name>" and the browser will then click that link. Please note that it is broken, and does not work in many textboxes. You need to dictate into a TEXT window then cut and paste it into Chrome. (Although ironically it is working in this text box.) Nuance will not fix this. They have not fixed this in years. And unfortunately the windows transcription system is much worse than Nuance. So, Nuance is still the best game in town even though it has this critical bug.

The extension continuously stops working impeding productivity. It stops me from doing my work as I need to disable and enable the extension in order to get it to work when I'm writing on a Google doc. The software is supposed to help you focus, but instead I need to change tabs constantly and click on the disabled enable button. It really brings down the entire Dragon experience and undermines its purpose which is to increase productivity. Please fix this or explain why a can't be fixed. Maybe it's a chrome issue. Who knows

the extension is disabled so often, and it's terribly annoying to have to keep re-"enabling" it. Some features don't work in Google or Google Docs. Dragon is a great product, but over time, I suspect I will get tired of having to keep finding workarounds and will move to another product unfortunately.

The voice scrolling is bad. It doesn't scroll contiguously and scrolls too quickly. For example when I press the Page Down button on my keyboard it takes 16 presses to get to the page bottom. When I say START SCROLLING DOWN using this extension, it does it in six scrolls because it bypasses parts of the page. And each page it scrolls flashes in one second which is too quick to read what's on it.

Works well for navigating the web. When I say "show links", it highlights all links on the page with a number. Then, you just say "choose number".

I don't know what it is really meant to do? There is no difference between before and after installing the extension.

When it works it works well, however today I have had to uninstall it and reinstall it about five times because it quits working almost once an hour.

I confirm this plug-in is a total garbage, how come they can not put a team of programmer to fix this issue ? Constant crashes, inaccurate transcription, skipping words, cursor jumping all over the place, what a shame ! I paid 500$ for the software and I can't even use it natively with Chrome ? the Dragon web extension constantly fails. It needs to be reinstalled every time the browser is rebooted. the machine learning does not work well to personalize the UX. Trying to get Dragon to recognize any document or email client has thus far failed and therefore the personalization is more limited.

This extension crashes constantly on Chrome and Firefox and always has. When it works it's very good. I like it, when it works. Years of 1 and 2-Star reviews makes it clear, literally don't care if it works or not. This is what they call their "consumer" market. Nuance started with training wheel versions of Dragon Recognition Personal / Professional. Now list on NASDAQ with huge vertical markets and their "consumer" market is no more than dust on their pants. They seem to have no more than a nuanced view of what a Google Chrome Extension is about and what we need. The company's website is filled with beautiful, inspirational ad agency copy about who they are and what they do. A baseline expectation of 1-Star ratings for a Google Chrome Extension is not acceptable? Hey, you, listen up, pay attention, here's another 1-Star. - "Understanding a customer’s distinct needs, obstacles, and goals is the key to tailoring a solution that succeeds on every level" Please read the reviews for clues to what is distinctly needed in a Dragon Recognition Extension for Chrome Web Store. Exceed, please. BTW - I typed this keystroke by keystroke 'cause the Dragon Web Extension crashed. Could have used "Dragon Dictation Pad" but didn't, I want to retain the nuance of my negativity.

I love Dragon -- I've been using it for 17 years on Word, Notepad, Excel -- but the extension for Chrome is terrible. It stops working unpredictably, And adds capital letters unpredictably after pauses (like the word And back there). The extension for Firefox is even worse, and usually doesn't work at all. On the other hand, dictation on the Microsoft Edge browser seems to work well – on a brief trial –without any extension. And living in the Google and Mozilla world I don't really want to switch to Edge. Earlier comments suggest using other dictation apps, and I might end up with that.

This software is a joke. That Nuance can't get it to play nicely in any browser, negates many of the benefits. I have been using a Mac at work and you can enable voice dictation. You just need to hit the ctr key twice and speak. As poor as the Mac dictaion is, it is far more reliable and robust than using Dragon in a browser and the latest version is very accurate. This product's days are numbered and they know it, which is why there are no updates or supprt.

Game Changer! This app especially now with the 15.60 update is an absolute must for anyone but a large volume of communication. Years and years and years ago I think I was one of the very first users of a Dragon NaturallySpeaking 3.0 which only recognized two out of three words. The company has improved it to where it is way up in the high 90% and even closer to 100% should you be a diligent user of the product. As a commercial insurance broker in Sacramento California I found this to be a must and if you give it some time and some diligent training I have to think you will feel the same. The Chrome extension is not something you should use regularly. It simply has no reliability. It tends to crash quite often and even in many of the common programs that both individual and professionals use. Use the dictation box as often as you can. If the extension were to be debugged and experimented with common applications it would be worth the money. Takeaways. If you need Dragon get it and use it. If you need to use it on web browsers use the dictation box or get a Mac and use their speak recognition. Sadly the web extension is not up to par.

Extension is working well for me. I have had no problems with that loading, and it has not crashed. I tried a free voice to print program recently, and I quickly returned to Dragon. Dragon has improved my productivity tremendously. When it is incompatible with a program, a dictation box appears.

It has become very temperamental. One day it will work perfectly, the next it refuses to do corrections and when it does, the suggestions made have no relationship to what was said. I wish I could work out which day would be good and the Factors that made it so. For example, in this review, day came out David.

Dragon 15.6 will not work with Word 2019. Word tells me that I need to install the extension, and yet the extension is installed. I will try rebooting the computer to see if that helps to get Dragon to work.

I am not really sure how companies like Nuance stay in business with products such as Dragon Voice Recognition Software (which is actually a misnomer in and of itself).

It just plain does not work, it will not click anything I ask it click and what is programmed doesn't work. When I say "click new tab" the mouse is moved to the bottom left corner of the plus top icon. I'm sure the program told the mouse to click, however the most is clicking just outside of the interactive box. Another problem I have is I can't select the correct tab when I have multiple tabs opened up with the same heading using Dragon software. Honestly, Dragon isn't really that good of a software anyways, but the lazy development of this extension is displayed through its inadequacy.

This extension is a failure. It always tells me to restore the extension thinking that the extension has been removed or corrupted. I know my extension is not corrupted. I had to restart the computer every time for Google to work properly with Dragon and then it only works for 10 minutes and tells me to restore the extension again. Is there another dictation program that is going to work properly on Google Chrome?

Ridiculously unstable.

This extension just does not work. It has been installed but the application does not recognize it as installed so it keeps trying to reinstall it. Dragon support was not helpful. They just tell me not to use Chrome. Oh and they also say Internet Explorer and Edge are not supported. What a farce. How can they sell something that functions this poorly.

It either constantly crashes (Chrome asks me to Restore it, because it's been disabled), or just does not work in Chrome sporadically. It's been that way for at least a year, so I have ZERO hope it will be fixed. I have to use the PITA Dictation Box to write anything.

Dragon Web Extension customer service is terrible . . . no, it's ghastly!

The extension does seem to cause browser problems in things like Facebook messenger and other modern HTML 5 apps. However I still need it because most of my time is spent working in a browser. I know that technology moves quickly but I expect more from a company like Nuance.

Whyyyyyyyyy can Dragon not figure this out. It seems like the problem we all have is the same. It works and then it doesn't. For no reason I was dictating no problem, then bam. It stops. I have to unintall, reinstall and sometimes do that more that once and reboot and maybe it works. What the hell. Seriously Dragon, figure it out! It shouldn't do this. Have the extension send you crash reports. And fix it, it can't be that hard.

Works for a bit, then stops working...

As you see with many other reviews, every time you remove chrome from your screen or restart your computer's the web extension simply disappears. Occasionally, it goes away on a random basis. When is working it works. When it is not it is almost like a random letter generator. It stopped working completely now. If anyone's reading this, you need to check out Windows 10 new speech generator. It is getting closer to Dragon all the time and it is free.

Software works on and off. Works better without the extension at times but capitalises unnecessarily. Need to enable and disable extension when using, depending on the application. Looks like the developer is not listening to their customers. With so many bad reviews, they should just remove it as a chrome extension and say it does not work from the beginning.

My Dragon frequently stops working almost about every 2 days. Sometimes it will behave if I restart it, sometimes it won't. Sometimes it kind of renews it self and goes back to the original settings rather than those i requested. it' very annoying and time consuming.

Completely useless. I'm very disappointed that the browser extension for the most widely used browser in the world created by one of the most prominent voice recognition software companies is such a mess, especially considering the cost of the software. The best part about this extension? It doesn't do anything whatsoever. Dragon works equally "well" with the extension activated or disabled.I am unable to utilize any of the browser specific commands.

This plug-in drives me up the wall with it's constant integration issues. I am endlessly having to restart Dragon and Google Chrome to try get the 2 programs working with each other. It really boggles the mind that Nuance haven't addressed these issues. I last used the program in 2018 & now I'm back to using it in 2020 and nothing has improved. What we need is a good competitor in the marketplace to put some pressure on Nuance to get their software working reliably and integrating.

Incredibly frustrating. This should be a really good and useful product. The problem is that it isn’t. In fact, it is not even close. It simply stops working constantly. This means you can be in the middle of dictating something online, trying to search on Google, or trying to use social media, and it simply stops. For example, I cannot write this review using the Dragon extension, because it is not working. There is an excellent irony in this. I simply cannot believe that a product that is this expensive has an extension to a web browser which is as poor and inconsistent as this. It is the same problem with Firefox too. When it works, it is excellent, but really that’s 2% of the time. Really poor performance from Nuance. Note: it was updated on July 16. I am writing this review on July 18. There is literally no difference.

I'm having the same problems that many users have expressed. Why hasn't Dragon fixed the problem? It basically works intermittently and I end up using Dragon Pad which is not bad but an extra step that I should not have to use. Mike Hemming

This NEVER works. Ive tried upgrading 3 times over the last few years and its always one glitch after another. I spend more time trying to get the program to work than if I had just typed everything out. Works when it wants to. Wont work with google chrome anymore, freezes with word and excel. Frustrating.

I have invested in the Dragon at least six times over the last fifteen years or so. Always with good results until this one! Not only is this one undependable but, it costs more than any other Dragon before this! As a matter fact, when I went back to return this Dragon because I did not want to I was told that there is no refund on the Dragon! I have actually referred this have a lot of my friends who have bought it in the past but after this last experience that won't happen. I feel like I deserve to have gotten refund or somebody would've worked on the Dragon for me! I haven't registered it and I've had it for eight months but I am so upset about its lack of ability to perform that I don't want to bother registering it.

Over two years since the extension was announced, it still doesn't work. And the reviews above show that Dragon has known this but nothing has been done. (It's interesting also that I have found it impossible to mark the many critical reviews as helpful) Yes one can can paste in materials from Dragon Pad. But that is slow and clunky. Why hasn't this been put right? It seems a straightforward, and increasingly inexcusable, software support failure. AS MANY OTHERS HAVE SAID.

when working and if you speak very slowly and clearly it is good. But the number of times it stops working, crashes other applications, and otherwise interferes with productivity makes it a questionable utility.

This extensive, it is certainly a disappointment. Reading the reviews is hard to add anything that is not already been said. Given my investment in this product it is certainly a deep disappointment and one would expect Nuance to respond.

Every problem expressed in all the previous comments dating back to 2016 is still true. The extensions do nothing once in a great while it will work but only for about 3 to 5 minutes at a time. If I want to use Google chrome to let say send a message from my Gmail account; I have to open up a Word document and copy and paste; which is what I am doing right now. It’s worked fine on every other browser but Chorme, I got Dragon because I’m an individual with a disability. But these issue pretty much renders Chorme useless to me. My electronic health record system just updated from explorer to Chrome so now I either use explorer or get an new EHR system. This is so frustrating! So here we are in 2020 and there hasn’t been any attempts to correct this issue or create a better extension to make things more accessible to individuals with disabilities like myself.

Why do I have to keep reinstalling the app? It randomly stops working and makes me uninstall and reinstall the chrome app for Dragon to continue working...It is good when it works, just wish it didn't stop working so much.

Two years after most of these reviews were posted, the constant Chrome extension disabling issue remains unresolved. Either Nuance couldn't care less about this in the customers annoyed by it, it's doing its best to resolve it and, years later, hasn't been able to, or the company is being shopped for acquisition. Which is it? And why, as a decades-long customer, should I care?

This product stopped working with chrome. WHY? I have removed the extension and re installed. seems to work well with office. A real pain to use with any apps on chrome. I have taken my name off their mailing list .. why would i upgrade when this doesn't work. Typing because Dragon doesn't work

Honestly I'm not sure how this app has two stars. I really wanted it to be good, I use dictation significantly, and have for over a decade, but the quality of this implementation leaves a lot to be desired. By way of example, when dictating in Google Docs, half the time the dictation does not work successfully and it passes a error message saying something along the lines of please say that again, as if the content itself has been garbled. Currently it's working, but any moment it might flip and be totally unusable regardless of any modifications of the speech. With as far into the development cycle is a software is, I would expect more. I do hope you can improve this.

A trainwreck of a plug-in; very frequently crashes or silently fails in Chrome. Dictation may work for a few minutes and then stop working, inexplicably. As you can see from the many user complaints over the last two years, these issues remain unresolved.

Great when it works... Unfortunately it does not work often. Tried using it to write this review and it was not working. Have to restart often and mess with it a lot. Hope there is another alternative out there! Thoughts anyone?

It works for while and then stops working and having to use Dragon pad or DragonDictate if I reboot my computer it works for about half an hour and it stops working and using this software since the very first version and I think it's lost its way in the last year this product out there that completely free there was good as Dragon it's a shame he's to be so good and now it's just average very expensive. Let me just join everyone else in saying, this app is awful and has been for years. Crashes constantly, slows down my work process instead of improving efficiency. Just bought the latest version of Dragon Professional, hoping this would finally be fixed. Nope. I'm constantly re-directed to the extension with the error saying the extension has been uninstalled, and Dragon freezes. Go to the app, it's still installed, just not working. With all of the negative reviews and complaints, WHY ISN'T NUANCE / DRAGON DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS? The next time a new version comes out, I'm going to find another software. There has got to be something better out there.

I find it very unstable with Chrome, Firefox and Office. After persevering for 6 months I am now forced to start researching other voice to text software as the bugs in this are making it unusable.

The extension works okay at best. However, there is a bug free time you open the browser and Dragon active pops up a message saying that the extension has been removed or disabled and to restore it EVERY TIME YOU OPEN THE BROWSER THIS IS SUPER TEDIOUS AND ANNOYING Nuance if possible, you should fix this ASAP. I purchased the Dragon Home Version and then installed the extension into Chrome. First of all, the Dragon home version hardly ever works and neither does the extension. I've had it work intermittently but even if I uninstall the Dragon Home version and reinstall it or do the same with the extension...it just doesn't work. I really am getting frustrated and considering asking for a refund. Why pay for the home version if it's not going to work?

I have the exact same issues as everyone else on here. When the extension works, it’s great (although not in Facebook or Instagram), but when it crashes (every 10 minutes) I have to shut everything down and start it again or remove and reinstall the stupid extension. And like someone above mentioned, the extension does not even allow me to dictate this comment – I am copying and pasting from Microsoft Word. It’s super frustrating, because I’m a quadriplegic and have no use of my arms or hands whatsoever, so even just removing and reinstalling the extension takes forever while using the mouse grid commands. It doesn’t seem like anything anyone has said on here has elicited any attention from Dragon, so I’m not super hopeful. But it’s been nice to vent my frustration.

Sometimes works, a little bit. Mostly deeply broken. Constantly complains that it needs to be "restored". Terrible level of service from a very important, and very expensive, piece of software.

Why not just make the extension a default instead of having to go through the palaver of opening the extension on a regular basis. If chrome identifies Dragon and Dragon can see chrome simply make them work in harmony.

Like many of the other reviewers I agree this extension is terrible. I have interacted with DragonSupport many times about the issue and nothing they suggest helps at all.

I'm writing this review through the Dictation Box which says it all really! Sometimes the software works in Chrome, sometimes it doesn't. Very annoying to have to restart the browser regularly to keep it working. And it appears I'm in very good company with these problems! I really wish there was an alternative product to use, and that's coming from a near twenty-year user of Dragon.
