It was great. Now it doesn't work anymore.

I remember it working before, but it wasn't working today; searched "Ukraine" and all the results were mainstream. I've always slowly lost functions of the extensions I use; there has to be a better way. Could probably do it better without the Chrome Web Store. Might have better luck on Itch.

Tried to add manual channels and it does NOT work. Why do you have local fox channels on the list but not the main fox news official checked marked channel?????? !!!! I manually add it and it STILL shows up, worthless not sure if Im going to keep this extension.

This no longer works. I've noticed it stopped filtering mainstream search results since sometime late January 2022. Was disappointed to see all the propaganda and other mindless garbage return. This was a phenomenal extension up until now... hope they fix it.

I don't ever write reviews but my god, this extension is divine! I had to come and make my first extension review to rant about how amazing seamless this program works! If you're sick of mainstream propaganda showing up on your feed no matter how many times you click "do not recommend channel" or report for spam/sexual harassment and they keep showing up on your feed. this is the extension you've been looking for all your life. Just install it, don't even think about, DO IT!

Not perfect but I love that this exists. Makes a big difference.

Great idea, sadly it isn't blocking *anything* on the list. I have all selected, and get multiple vid suggestions from ABC, NBC, CNN, etc. It's filtering nothing. Unfortunate.

working perfectly fine but anyway i try to block a channel it wont be blocked and still there i right clicked blocked on the list and single channel and it's right there the copypasted name on it but does not work spaces on the channel or not

Broken non working abandonware, last update was march 2020, the developer website is down and is no longer responding to emails. just uninstall and use blocktube extension instead.

Used to be 5 stars, but it seems like it is no longer working for me. I noticed today my suggestions were full of the mainstream news channels I am trying to avoid. When I checked the extension I saw that the site was down. Are there any updates?

Cannot add new channels on Brave.

One thing I would do is rename it to "Corporate Press Hider" as the channels being hidden do not represent the Mainstream view, but the view of the corporate press.

It works greaty on duckduck and chrome but on brave I get annoying msm in result as first ones.please fix it.

It works amazing, search results are so much better using this than without. The one problem is that it won't block any new channels you want to add even after putting in the channel id and channel name in, even though it says you can, which sucks because there's still a good amount of promoted trash channels that I'd like to block, but overall this is a great extension to make youtube search searchable again Edit: apperantly you can block new channels but for some channels it doesn't work some channels it does. Still great extension

I love this, no more CNN no more BBC no more propaganda banging ideas into my head. I wish there was a one for google searches.

clean simple app that works. if you want to defund pedophiles, this extension will help defund the ones that dont run youtube.

Works as expected. It's a good start to getting the main garbage out of the way. The real results come after manually adding all the other channels you don't want to see.

Love it. It hides all that insufferable amount of old media channels in yt homepage and searches. I wish it could block more efficiently as some blocked channels do appear sometimes.

The "Daily Popular Videos" button does not show up. I am using macos.

Off with MSM: doesn't catch them all, but does fine job.

For Edge browser 11/30/20 it does not allow you to add new channels to hide. The right-click add option does not appear and the menu is cropped without a way of viewing it all to interact with the extension fully.

I refuse to consume propaganda. This blocks out a large majority of the propaganda youtube attempts to push on you to normalize their view points. Thanks demainstream! just need to work on stopping them from appearing in 'up next' videos. I'll give 5 star anyways.

Needs to filter out official government channels, university channels and the UN and WHO but otherwise works great

I like to test chrome extensions. It mostly worked 3-4 stars on that, but it's kind of harmful to provide an echo chamber app to the public. It's always healthy to see people who disagree with you so you can verify that your beliefs are true. No matter what they are. I imagine cults will start making these too, if they haven't already.

Such an amazing extension. Brings YouTube back to what it once was. Content from independent creators and not curated garbage from corporate board rooms.

It worked for a while despite how long it had been since an update, but recently MSM stuff has been able to make it through my search results and my front page. Both passively in the form of recommendations in both my front page and sidebar, and actively when I directly look for channels that SHOULD be blocked via the search results bar. This will need to be rectified before I am able to recommend this extension to other people. As of writing this, the last update on this was in March; it is now mid-August, and the extension is nonfunctional at the moment. Edit: Immediately after posting this review, I tried installing a couple more privacy extensions, and I noticed that my frontpage had gone back to how it was when Demainstream worked. Tried searching up a few of the Mainstream channels that should be blocked, and sure enough they were. I still don't know what happened to make it work again.

Oh, the irony as I write this review on Google. So far, so good. It's a simple, clean and easy plugin for YouTube that comes default with many mainstream media outlets already blocked for you. You can customize the list and unblock channels, but for me personally I had no need as I wanted all MSM blocked. There is also an option to add your own channels you want to block as well. No more MSM forcing itself into your Suggested Videos or every "Up Next" video. Seems like I will be able to turn Autoplay back on as well.

Author simply vanished and stopped updating after a very buggy update. He doesn't reply and hasn't pushed any code update in the past month+ Stop saying it works great, IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. Custom channels are not working at all which is the main appeal of this extension.

It "works" for the most part, however the "block" feature absolutely does not function or even exist as a function to use. The in-app option, when selected, simply shows a tutorial gif of a right click drop menu option that doesn't exist. So other than that blatantly advertised lie, yeah it "works".

This is great, I just wish I could add my own Channels to the block list.

It's not working for me, i don't know why. I've had three separate instances of BBC News popping up in the recommended/home feed even though BBC News is selected in the extension. Clicking on the "+" icon in the extension box shows me to right click on a channel and block it but i'm not getting that option no matter what. Any way to fix this? I'm seeing major decrease in mainstream stuff in my recommendations so it must be working, i just want it to work better. Hopefully future updates will make things smoother.

Great job. But you need to add the option to allow us to add our own channels to the block list. Some recommendations to add to the block list: Los Angeles Times, CBC News: The National, Fox 10 Phoenix, The View. Please add the option to customize channel lists.

Great extension. Would be great to add more filters like 'Channel 4 News' rather than just 'Channel 4' or if the user could we add our own custom filters to save the devs the work? Currently it filters out ALOT of the mainstream garbage but not all.

Works reasonably well, but could be better. Needs the option to select specific channels to hide because it doesn't catch everything. especially prolific regional variations.

Its a great Idea, seems to be making a noticeable difference, but allot of stuff from blocked channels manages to slip through the cracks. so it could use some settings and improvements and such but otherwise great. here's hoping its successful in the long run. also, it would be wonderful if you added a setting that stops the algorithm from recommending kids show spam.

Excellent Idea. I've been trying to develop an extension that does exactly this with some success, I'm able to have a block list of channels, but there are bugs and it doesn't work properly for "up next" queued videos. I would like a feature that would allow you to add custom channels to the block list. Another idea i've been thinking about is basically an alternative indexing service that would scan channels that are being algorithmically demoted or removed entirely from recommendations, and inject them directly into the UI that would allow people to actually find new interesting similar channels again, even if the topic or point of view is deemed "naughty" by the YouTube HQ propagandistic thought police squad.

This is what I was hoping for! I can FINALLY find again the content I am searching for, without first having to clicking through 5 pages of "recommended" mainstream media and late-night show content.

After you install it you must close out the browser then reopen it in order for it to properly function. There are still too many legacy media search results from other companies, but this is a start. It would be nice to have the ability for us to report legacy media companies that need to be blocked or block it on our own

So far seems to work very well, the sources I selected seem to be out of my search results, and seem to be gone from trending too. I like it a lot.

Fantastic - I did have to re-start Chrome twice and de-select then re-select. Now works perfect. It would be good if it could block more channels or allow custom blocking of channels.

Great extension. My only complaint is that I wish it blocked even more channels. E.g. when searching for "coronavirus", it definitely filters out a bunch of results, but the majority are still from mainstream sources.

No more pseudo comedians coming off as news, no more NPC news, finally taking back control of youtube. Works great, get it, you will not regret it.

great idea, but -there's no need to list every channel of a network. block anything that has to do with (for example) cnn. -wildcard the news networks ... AND ... have an entry field where the user can add additional wild cards !!! the programmer here sure doesn't want to localize every tv news outlet in the whole world. but if he doesn't then it's just has anglocentric use. youtube on the other hand does give localized suggestions. give the user the choice of additional entries. then it's 5 stars for sure.

Makes youtube much more usable and interesting. I'm not much into politics specially, but this definitely removes all the sponsored new site noise from the search results. Maybe youtube should just have a "cable news" section and put these channels there.

Great Start , I hope you can develop it the future to add your own filters yourself or have a right click block channel feature . Needs more filters to be really effective but great start and will become a must have to block all that Google propaganda

Works excellently, much less anxiety searching up anything on YT knowing you wont see a late night host spewing NPC propaganda or Madcow hawking her latest conspiracy theory.

I'm stunned at how well this works. It also seems to partially work on recommendations, though it's hard to tell at this point. A Fox news video is dumping me to Bon Appetite instead of another Fox video.
