This fantastic productivity app is a crucial part of my workflow. Please add an option to automatically dedupe a saved or active session.

Very usefual and handy, completely offline, loved its feature of storing sessions as json,html etc the most. improvements: - to edit the saved sessions so that one could remove or add new links whenever they want instead of creating a new session altogether - dark UI

Such a useful extension to store and organize the numerous tabs you have. The tab searching function works pretty well too. It automatically records sessions as well which makes it very useful. Works extremely smoothly and almost never lags. Would appreciate a feature that allows users to edit a saved session (e.g. add/edit a link in the session) though.

I'm happy no cloud sync and everything is offline - for security reasons! great extension!! absolutely love it!

no extension is better or more usefull than this one!!! I will appreciate if you add the option to click over the window link and have it restore just that windows or add check box and the option to restore checked... thank you so much for this great and everyone please DONATE to keep it updated and have much more features Edit: used to be great but the lack of improvement and the fact that it has reached the stage of abandonware make it sadly not a good option for session management anymore, expect also to lose your session data and that it uses a lot of disk space on a long run and backup can be huge but cannot be imported back when needed.

This extension is an absolute must for Chrome. It's incredibly useful for grouping tabs of things you need to get to later. Thank you for this absolutely amazing extension.

It's useful. But boy does it screw up tremendously when it does. All of your saved sessions can be gone just like that, seemingly at random, for no reason other than, i don't know, closing browser wrong or something. Just gone. And no way to get stuff back (if you don't manually save it elsewhere), because there's no data redundancy. If you're not hitting 'Back Up' button after every session save, you're putting yourself at a data loss risk. What this extension really should do, is save a session file (a .json file) to the disk after every session save, automatically (or as a setting to enable). This way, even if extension fumbles and loses all your data, you'd still have a trail of saved session files. But currently, if you're not intentionally backing up after every session save (and I mean after every single one), you can just lose some of your data. That, and/or making it easier to export/back up single sessions in one click. (Entire backups can get pretty heavy, so exporting individual sessions could be more efficient). So, look out for your data. And perhaps, look into organizing your data in a more efficient and resilient way. Come up with something better, other than relying on a single extension with a single point of failure (a sole extension data file. there's literally just one user data file in profile folder, and if it fails, your data is gone good.).

Saved the current session, then opened it in a new window. All the tabs seem to be there, but none of the Tab Groups. What good is this?

Was the best at one point. Now it doesn't save my sessions newer than 2 months old, so what's the point. Just lost 21 tabs because of Chrome crashing and the last thing Session Buddy saved was an email tab and Twitter.

Best extension for managing sessions, but unfortunately it seems developer has abandoned it.

I use Session Buddy all the time. It helps me keep my browser windows to a minimum. I collect related topics in various tabs of one window. I then use Session Buddy to save that window as a session with a title. You can export all your saved sessions so you don't lose them, or to import them to another machine. When Copy All URL's isn't available, I use Session Buddy to copy into the clipboard buffer my URL's along with their titles. These can be pasted into a text file or Excel or Notion... very helpful when researching the content those web pages.

In the last few months it has started to fail to open some (not all) saved windows, they will not open when clicked on and will not open on the restoration of the session (The tabs themselves can be clicked on and opened) I have tried backing up the session and importing it to an other system and the windows still refuse to open.

Lacks basic functionality, like, drag&drop links. Which makes merging and adding new links a bit of a hassle.

Great as a backup tool I use daily but one flaw is to add a feature whenever I create a new session, to use the "move" option to put them in an old session rather than creating a new one. If this goes in a later update it would be great.

Used it for a couple months but there was no cloud backup or dark mode. I've switched to Partizion instead: it has cloud backups, dark mode, and a really nice UI.

Best extention ever!

Working in IT for several different clients, it easy to have multiple tabs open each day for reference. Whether it be a browser crash, accidental deletion or other, this app has saved my bacon several times.

As a tab hoarding dragon, Google's built-in restore function often messes up if I have to restart my computer or have a crash. This extension has saved my butt more often than I can count, and I'm so grateful it exists. The only thing I wish for is cloud sync/auto backup for if i'm moving computers or phones.

If there is Cloud Sync(Backup) added, would be very useful for users using this extension

the export feature only supports the text version if you are to import it and it does not save pinned tabs as pinned but as a normal tab. otherwise its a very nice addon.

Needs NIGHT MODE. The fact that the devs haven't added this for years and put it at low priority is a joke. This is an accessibility concern as it affects those with eye conditions.

The guy who made this extension deservers a million dollars. However, if a cloud sync feature was there then it would have been a billion.

I've been using this for years without problems.

I don't seem to have the issue that the other users do. It saves my session well, which is great because Chrome won't remember what I had open when my organization forces updates. However, it doesn't restore my tab groups, and it's really time consuming to go back and do those manually. Please fix this! Then it will be really useful.

Auto safe feature does not work most of the time. Found much better extension "Tabox"

Unreliable, half the time I close a browser only to find when trying to reopen it that it's not saved any tabs or history. Not reliable; don't bother!!

Everything got deleted on its own, not trustworthy. Months of saved tabs vanished in thin air and there is no redressal available

Had to go to Tabox, which admittedly has its own issues, after years of recommending this one to everyone I know. Tab grouping broke the deal for me but cloud sync and dark mode are real bonuses. If you don't need those things, Session Viewer is still the best at what it does.

Can I ask a favour? please give us the old theme as an option, because it was much more polished (instead of the new "clean" aka flat theme). I quite enjoyed those subtle gradients and the discrete blues instead of this new kindergarten blue. Just because Microsoft, Google and Even Apple are going boringly flat doesn't mean that everyone has to, they're just copying each other. If nothing else, it's just a fashion, and as all fashions, this will soon go away anyway. And if you gave us the cloud session sync it would be awsome, perfect, and, dare I say, with no need to modify it ever again. EDIT: 8 years later, and you still haven't found a way to compress the database of sessions, mine is many dozens of MB, and keeps growing, specially because of the autosave sessions. I have sessions autosaved from 9 MONTHS AGO! Unbelievable. If it doesn't compress much, make an option for auto-sessions to be removed after 3 months old. Did you even updated this extension in the last 5 years? Or is it time to go to greener and less bloated pastures?

WARNING!!! Not really trustable. I just reboot and all the saved link are junk i never visited about session buddy. - Like Session Buddy support page - You love session buddy make a donation. Really, you can start to never lost and erase the session after you can ask for something. Well, probably you need to found another Chrome extension.

Went to expand an incognito window in Chrome, tiny bit of mouse-lag causes me to hit the X button my accident... I go to check my "Previous Sessions" for recently autosaved tabs, the window isn't saved there, no recent saves since 3 days ago. I've Instantly lost all progress with no clear record of how to setup again. Everything else is good except it NEEDS a proper autosave feature, at least one which the autosave frequency can be increased at will, Certainly not the first time this has happened either, I'm fed up. WHY wouldn't this be a hallmark feature, given the purpose of this extension!? I will be looking into better alternatives until (if) this extension has been improved, because otherwise it has a set of features that work rather well. But this is a HUGE DEAL BREAKER.

Easy to use and effective tool

It's been long dead. Unoptimized since ages! Don't use it for anything serious. The import/export feature is still cool.

no update in a while: Last Update: October 30, 2021 Missing functions: - auto backup to the cloud option - "dark mode" option - group tab support what i`ve read in the other comments: [haven`t tried it yet] You can enable dark mode for Session Buddy in Google Chrome by going go chrome://flags and tying in "Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents". Then, from the dropdown you should pick "Enabled with selective inversion of non-image elements" and relaunch the browser.

WHY HAVEN'T I FOUND THIS EARLIER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been using Session Buddy for ages, and it has NEVER EVER let me down!!! This coming from a very sluggish mad borderline insane tab-o-addict.. (often +300 tabs) So you can guess how often I manage to crash opera/chrome on the regular! :p Despite that Session Buddy saves my a$$ every single time even at the worst imaginable horror crashes! The only lovely extra features this could use are: - "dark mode" option for us vampire night hawks (spare my eyes, it burns :D) - auto backup to the cloud option (to be 100% sure not to lose any tabs & allow sync between browsers) - a customizable exclude tabs filter (by regex url) Absolutely love you guys for the great work & I'd give a thousand stars if I could!!!

Great extension and would be a 5 star if it wasn't for the lack of support for Chrome's Tab Groups: If you arrange dozens of tabs in different groups, save the session and reopen it later, all the tabs open up individually and are no longer grouped! It's an unfortunate nuisance that will hopefully be addressed soon I hope.

Need dark theme and DELETE ALL

I use chrome usually while having 2 windows open, 1 for all random stuff I need daily, and one for the research for whatever I'm working on. Problem is when you save a session, the tabs in the session don't automatically update as you change them. So if you close that window without saving it again, and then close the main window with all the random stuff, the window with everything you were working on is lost forever and you have to open the save of it which is the old set of tabs. So basically it's useless for what I need it for unless I remember to save the session before I close it which is rare because I'm always crazy tired by that point and don't even care

This session mgr. has been VERY useful for me. One major enhancement would make it a killer app and that is to add drag and drop capability: - drag URLs from one session or window into another session or window - drag windows into a session - drag a session into another session

I sure hope you can explain yourself..... My financial institutions, and the Federal Govt.have been informed. As well as Google. Im not seeing anything in the app that indicates any sort of paid service or fee associated with it. You really shouldnt be collecting credit card info, passwords and other PRIVATE things that are not related to the funciton of the app. some people, take great pleasure in hunting down people that prey on other people! Ive heard some real horror stories! I read this article the other day, where a guy got scammed, and he used his MASSIVE  flame botnet to find the scammer! He took the scammers organs and sold them on the dark web.... Are you scamming people? Because it sure looks like it!

Solved my problem! I was so annoyed that Chrome would only save the tabs in my current window, but not in any other windows! Session Buddy did one better, and let me save custom groups of tabs, meaning I no longer need to reopen all those windows at the start, and can just do so as-needed. I would love a dark mode, but it's not necessary. I do see other suggestions that would be nice, like cloud save and sharing across devices, but ultimately those are bonuses for me, and it did great at the purpose I got it for, so 5 stars.

*Original Review May 23 2018* I was already spreading the word about this extension to my colleagues the first night I installed it. I found this after my OS had crashed during an upgrade and I lost all my tabs and windows which had all kinds of work, school, and personal things arranged costing me quite a bit of time to rebuild. Now with Session Buddy I'll never have this happen again. The real icing on the cake today though was when moving to a new laptop I was simply able to backup my session and import on the new computer in seconds saving a ton of time rebuilding my tabs and windows the way I like! This made me so giddy I went and donated 10 bucks. This is my favorite chrome extension now, thanks developers! *Updated Review September 29 2022* Welp I'm much less thrilled with this app in the last couple years. The dev has decided to ransom any further development pending raising an unspecified amount of money and an unspecified amount has been raised to that end. The app hasn't even had a bug or security fix in nearly a year and a half so I consider it abandonware at this point and would NOT advise anyone else to donate. The most egregious feature missing at this point is the lack of automatic cloud backup or any cloud backup ability of any kind. There are several other competing extensions providing these features at this point, I would suggest looking at those. I have dropped my 5 star rating to 1 star and will be uninstalling as soon as I find a favorite replacement to use across all my workstations.

Excellent app. It would be nice if it shared your tabs to multiple devices and if it saved groups, but that is no reason to not give it five stars.

This is one of my favourite extensions and I use it all the time! If you could save tab groups as well, preferably with their colours as well, then it would be perfect

This extension is an effective tab manager AND session saver. I just ditched three extensions, and replaced them with this one. Need dark mode and CSV import/export, but otherwise it's fantastic.

--- Even if currently there hasn't been an update for almost a year ( as of writing this, which is understand since this is a project done by just one coder during their free time ), this addon does the job it is meant to do extremely well. In my case "Session Buddy" has for the most part replaced the internet-browser-bound "bookmark"-features primarily thank to the super light weight usability alongside the quite flexible search-function. Here is to hope we'll be able to see more feature-updates for this addon in the future. ---

Used to be the best but now it has fallen in favor of others. Does not save tab groups at all (a must in 2022). Has no dark mode. Sometimes, without warning, will not save your tabs. Does not offer any option to sync your tab sessions with our computers or backup to dropbox/drive/etc. I don't know the last time this was updated but it sorely needs some love.

I love it but for the love of god, spare my eyes and add a dark mode. It's jarring when I've been browsing on pages that offer a dark theme (as many sites do) and switching to the extension tab blinds me. Also if the data was stored on the cloud rather than locally that'd be great. With most of my Chrome extensions this is the case but not for this one. Would also help me pick up my previous session from work when I'm at home and vice versa. Add these two features and it's literally perfect.

Ugh, I hate to have to do this... This has been a must have for me for years but it doesn't work anymore. It doesn't auto save my sessions like it used to. It works if I manually save, but not automatically. Wish this would get fixed :-/

Session Buddy is so good that you will open tabs just to see the glory of them coming back.

I have tried MANNNNYYYYYY tab management extensions and this is by far my favorite. I do also use OneTab because I love to be able to move all of my tabs with single clicks (which are always huge numbers in multiple different sessions). BUT... whilst OneTab is superb for that particular use case, I really needed a way to sort and manage my tabs to be able to easily come back to amazing information I find in research sessions. OneTab is not built for that purpose but Session Buddy certainly is!!! I love it. Let's be clear though, there are many enhancements that should and could be made but I am sure those will come over time. In the meantime, this is CERTAINLY the best app I've found for the job!!! Thank you guys!!!

It would be a good idea to add a way where we can add links to our saved sessions lists, one link at a time and be able to re-organize the list by dragging and dropping the links in the list.

In addition to tabli, session buddy keeps me worry free from a crash. Some additional features like restoring tab groups as they were, would make it perfect though.

I love this extension, been using it for so long, it is very useful and has been reliable since I've installed it. I just wish if you could add the ability for the sessions to be aware of the tab groups feature that Chrome (and any chromium-based browsers) introduced a while ago.

I have this extension installed since around half a decade or more, give or take a few years. I have sessions saved since then. It's never failed me once. But I still have two or three other session saving extensions installed which I use simultaneously, saving my sessions in all of them at the same time. Can't be too careful, can we? ;P

Nothing like relying on something and then when you need it it fails. Turns out it hasn't been saving anything for some weeks now. Do not rely on this - check it every day to make sure it's actually working

Using session buddy for a while now, originally for automated session backups in case of unrecoverable crashes (it's been a while, but tends to happen to my laptop) and to store sessions I use only periodically. It is absolutely amazing! Only one thing that bothers me from time to time: It doesn't save tab groups. I run computationally intensive simulations on a regular basis, and often have to close chrome to free up working memory and processor capacity. When open the all my current sessions again after a while, I often choose to open them individually from chrome history quick access, because it stores group structures. However, I occasionally have to open a couple pages to get help for minor debugging, which quickly overwrites the sessions in chrome history quick access, which are limited to 8. In that case I can easily re-open the sessions from session buddy, but have to embrace the laborious task of re-grouping all my tabs manually. Commonly keeping ~3-6 sessions with ~10-20 tabs in ~4-5 groups, this results in absolute insanity... Please implement a feature to not only store sessions, but also the grouping structure :) I would love working with the session buddy even more <3

I installed Session Buddy and the very first time I clicked on the Session Buddy icon it just disappeared completely and now doesn't even show up anymore. I have no trust in this extension to work correctly and will be uninstalling it.

Absolutely phenomenal product. Just suffered a huge kernel panic crash and was able to restore all windows and tabs sans issue. Thank you!

I wish it could work better in Portrait mode in Kiwi browser for Android instead of having to switch to landscape. Otherwise the UI is cut in half. Also despite allowing access to Incognito tabs it doesn't work in Android. In desktop Chrome it's excellent ofc.

Almost couldn't live without it! I always have many tabs open at the same time, and this extension does a much better job than Chrome does remembering my recently opened/used browser sessions & tabs.

Simple, works offline, no direct security implications. Downside of that is no automatic sync, but the capacity to export/mail/import tabsets to coordinate across machines exists and is easy to find and use. Might be nice to have an option to automatically export to a specific directory - which could be set to a cloud sync dir in Dropbox/Google Drive/etc. if you're not worried about security - but this is a solid product even without that.

I've been using it to store multiple groups of windows, and it's been going good, but I'm looking to figure out how to group multiple groups of windows. If someone knows how, please tell me.

This has saved my butt a whole bunch of times when chrome or my PC crashed or Chrome just happened to forget all the windows/tabs randomly. I strongly recommend it for anyone who keeps an enduring set of more than a few windows/tabs all the time!

I used it around a month to test it, along other Tabs Manager... I was surprised because of reviews and good grade... For what I need I give it 4 Stars: It's a simple and useful Recovering Tabs (Automatically... [I'd say this is the main attractive]), but for managing, it's not that useful, I'd say is a little limited. You can name and save a group of Tabs, which is useful, (but many other tab managers have this), and you can merge 2 Tab Groups, But you're not able to re-arrange a tab in a group, which I consider it very limited :( So if you use to have many Groups of tabs in many windows at the same time, that are critical to recover it your Chrom crashed, this is your thing. But if you're more constant in the tabs on different you use, It's not that useful... For example I have a "Main Window", "Finance Window", "Meetings Window", etc. I need a little more control in managing windows in every window: Drag and Drop one tab to another window; Re-Arrange tabs, shortcuts (to be faster), etc. I don't recommend it, maybe better you'd like to use "Tabli", for basic organization or "Tabs Outliner" for advanced organization (even add notes to your tabs) In any case, you can combine your Tab Manager Extension with "One Tab", that helps you save lots of RAM... Publicity says up to 95% RAM memory saved! I hope to be helpful

Needs dark theme!!! Very frustrated with this extension. It nearly blinds me when I use it, but it's so dang essential! I don't know what to do.

a fantastic extension that is simple to use and has a simple but highly effective gui (interface). Ive been using it for years and it keeps my tabs synced even on different browser. For example, I'll be using chrome on my desktop and then on my laptop ill be using edge and all my tabs are there. Its a MUST HAVE extension

For now I won't recommend using this extension. It's amazing at what it does and before tab groups were introduced in Google Chrome, it was probably the best extension for the job. Sadly the developer hasn't gotten around to implementing tab groups yet, even though he mentioned in October 2021 that he was working on it. If you need/want to save Tab Groups there are other and better extensions out there.

"Session Buddy seems to have encountered an error preventing it from starting" which means all my saved sessions had gone. I restarted Opera and it said the same. I restarted again and the saved sessions reappeared.

This is by far one of my essential GO-TO extensions on Chrome! Whenever I open a Chrome profile, this extension gets added, FIRST! It's awesome! I wold give more starts if possible.

I've been using Session Buddy for close to ten years, and its never failed me. I'm a self admitted tab-aholic. I routinely have several windows with 30+ tabs. It's hard to see which ones to close when the window is open, but when you save the windows, Session Buddy shows all the tab names with the option to delete tabs before opening the window(s) back up. I'd give it more stars if allowed!

Hi guys, I've been using this Tabs manager, Session Buddy, on my different Macs for more than one year. As far as I can tell it's been a real LIFE SAVER!!! as Chrome and Apple don't want to work together and Chrome crashes quite often. I am sure I haven't tested ALL the features yet, but for now I am impressed. I use it in conjuntion with OneTab, which I like a lot. The 2 are complementary. If I could give 10 stars, I would do it. I've got generally 250+ tabs opened by profile, I've got 8 working profiles, so it gives you an idea of the number of Tabs I need to manage at the same time! I know, I've got a huge amount of memory... Only issue is that it doesn't save all my Tabs automatically all the time. I realised it after a while and now I am careful saving them, from time to time, or at least every day. And it is just FANTASTIC! Also, I can get my opened tabs accessible from any mac our family own, having the same Chrome workplace, on any profile on any mac is really cool. I am less and less a fan of Chrome / google and overall this company sucks. But I am stuck with Chrome for now and couldn't work without it. Unless someone can point me to another browser, I will have to stay with Chrome and Session Buddy!

Fabulous plug-in, I am a tab junkie and losing 80 tabs that you have open is PAINFUL. Session Buddy has saved me 100's of times over the past two years. This is a no brainer, put it on every chrome or edge browser.

I finally found the perfect tab/session manager. Love it!

This could be useful if you have some odd need to record your tab sessions all the time automatically. I am seeing privacy/ security issues mentioned. I prefer the extension OneTab for it's reliable icon placement and the non-automatic type session storage. Perhaps it would be a security issue, but I wish I could restore my blogging sessions/log-ins; Then, maybe I would use this program.

This worked flawlessly and deserves a 5 star rating. Stopped working today and Chrome browser giving a message that "This item has been disabled in Chrome". Please look into this issue and fix it ASAP. Once fixed, I would update my rating to a 5 star. Edit: Giving back the 5 stars as the extension is working again on Chrome.

Very useful for what it does. BE WARNED, very easy to get carried away and save thousands of useless tabs.

This is an amazing tool and it does its job without any fuss. It is a life saver when you have a ton of windows and tabs open and accidentally close Chrome, you can restore your previous session, completely or partially. Thank you for the quality tool.

I like this for emergencies when my computer crashes, but i find it cumbersome to use. so whenever i lose my tabs due to a crash, i now have an anxiety attack trying to figure out how to get them back using this tool \o/ please just make it easier. where it says "saved session" have a "right click-open all tabs" and be done with it.

Just updated chrome. All session are gone. Not like "repair plugin", then gone. Just open the extension and no sessions.

2017 2 stars: i need this to switch between multiple PCs but the data doesnt sync 2022 5 stars: my complaint still stands :P i made this 5 stars, but reverted back to 3. Why is "Financial and payment information" and password related permissions needed? i dont see any clearly stated justification

Great addon but it is not receiving QOL changes :((( - this will be impossible to navigate without option to sort saved session into folders and tags... - saved sessions could be bigger, or include tags, so you don't clutter their names - also there should be warning when you click on X to delete session! - cannot add tabs to existing session... - tab manager in Firefox is in some ways better... 3 stars because it sucks, but all other extensions are worse by miles...
