Finally, one that works

You have to manually set the settings after installing this extension to turn off auto play but after you it works.

Works great, best extension in history, kills all annoying autoplay garbage

Seldom works correctly. Vivaldi is about to lose me as a use because of the autoplay issue.

Works on Chromium 87.0, even years after its maintanence has stopped. Godlike extension.

2020 and this extensions still does work great. It will not stop all videos but most. Strangely it works better than 3 years ago.

This will prevent audio on most conferencing apps, which is really annoying. I'd recommend not installing it

Why do they even let things like this remain. Caused me so many headaches over the years, finally decided to TS the issue and here I am, uninstalling.

This used to work great, but lately videos on YouTube and Yahoo have started to play immediately after the pages are opened. I recently added AutoplayStopper, which was recommended by others. So far, AutoplayStopper seems to be working great.

it works on youtube still, but there is one problem, it uses 71 megabytes of RAM just to stop autoplay

DO NOT USE!! Extension is out of date and CAUSES MAJOR BROWSER PROBLEMS on both PC and MAC systems. This used to work very well up until a few months ago. Now it will cause all browsers to lockup even after the extension is removed or deactivated. THIS NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE EXTENSION STORE BEFORE MORE DAMAGE IS CAUSED.

works great for when you dont want something to play, and has an easy to use whitelist feature, but if you click play on a video on a non-whitelisted site there can be some issues where it kinda breaks the video, and you are forced to whitelist, watch, then unwhitelist

So far this works great. Blocks the annoying autoplay videos on the news sites. For this reason and this reason only I'm making Chrome my default browser!

I remember when it was enough to have a Flash blocker. Now we have to block HTML5 as well. I've been using this extension for a couple of years and I LOVE what it does to websites. I have it turned off on websites where I want autoplay enabled, but for all the rest - extra-specially CNN and other news sites - it is a sanity saver and a lifesaver. Someone complained that it doesn't stop animated GIFs. That's because this extension is for HTML5, not GIFs!!!

Still works in chrome canary for mac. Disabled the ad videos in F-ing cnet.

I wanted to stop auto-buffering of Youtube videos, but this Add-on doesn't work for it.

I liked it, until I discovered that it was this extension that disrupted all Soundcloud music playing properly. From the moment I disabled this extension, the problem was solved.

Works for me. It stops CNN.COM AUTOPLAY dead in its tracks.

This extension successfully stopped some videos, but even with it and using Chrome to stop auto-videos, some would still play (thehill.com is terrible). The main issue with the extension is it also interferes with just playing videos. That is, when I pressed play the video wouldn't play until I disabled this extension for the site. So eventually I stopped using it. And now I hear Google is working on the issue, so hopefully the extension isn't needed anymore.

This extension will block audio from Amazon Prime Music. If you're having problems listening to audio or music, disable the extension. After reading other reviews, I believe this extension also gave me problems with Google Hangouts.

FINALLY an extension that works to block YouTube's dumb channel preview videos that you have to see every time you visit a channel you're not subbed to. NO subbing to the channel is not a fix, but this extension is!

Prevents me from running the videos I want to run, and lets the ones I don't want to see run. Works less than half the time....

Great extension. Sorry to hear the owner has stopped maintaining it. Puts the power back into the hands of the user, rather than the host - which is how the web should always be.

Works for Epicurious and had luck with Cnet.

Autoplay re-activates at every re-start. Rubbish

Still works perfectly on news sites and YouTube. If you're experiencing the bug on sites like Twitch where videos cannot be played at all, you need to go into the extension's options and in the Mode Rules List box, type "twitch.tv nothing" (without commas), or replace Twitch with the appropriate URL, then click save, and it will be white listed.

Feb 2018 it is not working.

It does its job well, but there are sites that sort of need autoplay to function optimally. For example, when listening to a playlist on YouTube, this extension makes the playlist option sort of a moot point, with every new video needing to be played manually. Alternatively, the developer may want to consider an option of disabling the extension on certain sites. Many extensions (like ad blockers) allow sites to be exempted from their scrutiny at the discretion of the user.

I installed it anyway. Hopefully someone else will do another one before it stops working.

While setup correctly, videos still play automatically.

It doesn't work. Auto play keeps playing and there's no 'button' to click to stop them from playing. Nothing. This is completely useless.

I think disabling HTML5 and Flash may not be enough or some sites have found a workaround for this extension.

Do not use! This extension blocks incoming audio on Google Hangouts/Meet video calls. Alternative: browse to chrome://flags/#autoplay-policy and select "Document user activation is required"

It was great. CNN broke it.

Works well and seems to block correctly, but I've yet to find a way to allow media to play once blocked without just suspending the add-in entirely. Wish there were a way to right-click on media to say, "It's ok to play this". Definitely read and heed the rules information. NOTE: This extension is NO LONGER MAINTAINED and the poor developer is having to remind folks again and again of this fact.

Generally works ok, but also blocks audio on Google Hangouts/Meetings. Which is not great. No options to exclude specific sites/domains and no longer maintained so it's time to look for something else instead.

This isn't working anymore. "Powered by JWPlayer" videos are auto-playing once again. I will be looking for an alternative. It's a shame this extension is no longer being supported.

A great extension. I'm sad to hear the owner has stopped maintaining it. Nothing lasts, but I enjoyed your product while it worked. It's important to understand that any extension that works will be targeted by web designers and they will work around it.

I DL'd this for one reason and one reason only: to block the autoplay videos on NFL.com. First time out of the gate, the offending video was stuck in the load position. I'm satisfied.

Works well enough, but indiscriminately. I tested the extension on cnn.com, si.com, cbssports.com, motortrend.com, and a few other sites. It seemed to stop autoplay on all those sites. The issue is that it even seems to prevent videos from playing that you WANT to watch. I first noticed this on a training video. I couldn't figure out why pressing play wasn't doing anything, until I thought to disable this extension for this site. That did the trick and it started playing upon reloading the page. So, it works, but inconveniently, at times.

Ad-Videos were driving me bonkers and now they stopped
