Seriously click you for this extension. It's always been so annoying to select and quit individual taps throughout the day. I knew there was a solution for automatically closing tabs, but I never got around to checking Google extensions. Again, thank you so much for your work.
This is Cool, is was searching for hits kind of plugin. Thanks Dev great work.
To the developer: great work on creating this extension! I needed it for the exact same reason that led you to create it (in your video). I added the extension yesterday and am very pleased with it. Thank you!
I really like this extension but I wish there was a way I could categorize my tabs or group them.
Really useful chrome extension. Well done!
Impossible to use when just one selected tab needs to be closed after some time.
Update: This is a well designed and brilliant extension. In effect it provides a history of important pages you were visiting. While keeping your tabs down to a reasonable number. Old review: I have it set to close tabs after 1440 minutes (24 hours) and I have had it installed for months, but it has never "wrangled" a single tab.
As a serial tab hoarder, this extension elegantly solved a problem I had suffered with for years.
I just got this extension and although I like it a lot, I have one issue. When I update Chrome OS or restart my computer the timer on all my tabs reset. Is there some way to fix this?
This extension is a life saver. I can't imagine browsing the web without TabWrangler.
This is so awesome, thank you!
Tab Wrangler is a worthy successor to The Great Suspender. It's minimally invasive, intuitive, and not overly complex. It is flexible in terms of removing and restoring tabs, unlike One Tab. It is automated after setting the time parameters, and does not bother pinned tabs. Although I have been using it only a few days since The Great Suspender disaster, I think I have found an improvement. Congratulations, Ross.
Miracle !
Great extension. One request: now that Chrome supports "Tab Groups", I'd love the option to not wrangle tabs that are in a Group (much like Pinned Tabs)
Does it Contain the features: - Never suspend tabs that contain unsaved form inputs - Never suspend tabs that are playing audio
It's a great app. Just add a new feature when right click it shows 3 options: Never close this tab; never close anything from... and close tab and save url immediately. My suggestion is that add a feature alogn with the last option: "Close all the tabs and save url immediately." This feature will make my life lot better. Thanks in advance.
Perfect except it doesn't offer to close pinned tabs.
Great extension! Works well and really makes a difference
Give an option to remove from Menu bar. This app would be perfect if it had that!
Really good to keep your number of tabs to a reasonable amount.
I actually love the tab and all the settings. My only issue is that a couple times now it logs me out of chrome and facebook and youtube when I close then restart chrome. Is there any way to stop it doing this? 5stars if there is
this is great. could you add a feature to save all open tabs under a name and close them? teg like TabCloud that would be it super awesome?
While it functions exactally as it says it will and that is great I do have one issue with it. It keeps a list of closed tabs in the tab corral. I get why this is great for some but surprised there isn't an option to just not keep that data at all. There is a clear closed tabs on close option but there should be an option to just not save anything in the corral to begin with. Outside of that works well.
This, and OneTab, have drastically changed the speed on my laptop. Thanks for the hard work!!
Absolutely essential for comfort web surfing. I use it with the combination of my own extension - Popup Tab Switcher (it brings the power of your system app switcher to the browser to make switching between tabs easier and faster).
I could see the benefits right away and it actually works as well! Thank you thank you! I had 80 tabs open .. I knew I needed help. ;)
I noticed that it doesn't differentiate tabs by windows. For example, if I wanted want two (or more) Chrome windows with at least 1 tab, Is it possible add a feature to treat each window independently?
TabWrangler is useful and well designed. At first, I didn't get why auto-closing tabs would work since I'was fanatically about keeping my tab-space clean with only 5 to 7 open tabs. Now, with TabWrangler, I don't have to think about closing tabs ever again and can always recall anything I need. I've set my Number_Of_Tabs to remember to 9999 since that doesn't cost anything. I agree with a previous comment that it would be nice to save these settings to my Google account so that I can quickly load and save the Tab_Lock configuration for manual editing.
great
Love it, single issue is I cant export the list of sites I DONT want auto closed. No transfer at all which is a pain because I have a lot in that list.
Long time user, recently on two occasions it has completely wiped the tab corral meaning it deleted everything I had stored TWICE. I did not clear history or perform an operation which should have affected it. Use at your own risk.
The tab timer keeps on resetting after 5 seconds, i mean i like the concept of this app but it doesn't work for me. and yes, I have unticked the "reset the tabs timer", it still resets it.
I think it is pretty good. Sorts out my often large number of tabs in a way that best suits my personal needs of a tab manager. Thanks to author for putting the extension together for the chrome browser community. :)
this extension closed all my tabs as soon as I installed it, when I opened the extension and put all my tabs back, they all went into 1 window. All my organization is gone.
Brilliant. So far I've set it to close tabs after 0 seconds, and I am only fiddling with the minimum. I am using it together with the Hocus Pocus app that is minimizing inactive windows.
really helping manage my tabs and resource usage
It keeps resetting itself when I close the browser. It won't remember which tabs I've already locked, forcing me to reopen and re-lock them again when I realize what I'm missing.
Absolute best way to handle tabs in a transparent way.
my new favourite extension. Along with OneTab and Toby.
When your browser tabbar is always full of tab's it's the thing you should definitely try!
Tab Wrangler has changed my life... or at least the way I browse the web. Love it.
Very cool, I like it!
One of those must haves for Chrome
This has been a very helpful extension. Has helped keep my tab count down but also allows me to keep certain tabs always locked. Very useful.
Helps me very much to concentrate on things. Closed tabs: 6800 (30%)
very good ex
Its pretty awesome.
I love this extension. Saves me a lot of time. It would be nice to be able group wrangled pages into folders.
Tired of having Facebook left open on my network. Perfect extension to take control of the situation.
Combines 2 apps I used to use into 1. Great features, does exactly what it says on the tin.
ty
nice
Most useful extension. Keeps the number of opened tabs under control
Is it true that hovering mouse over tab's header resets tab's timer? Not sure where i can ask this question
just loved it
Excellent! Thank you!
Great way to manage the ever growing pool of Chrome tabs :-)
Fantastic! I have a terrible habit of opening dozens of tabs and Tab Wrangler really helps to keep things under control.
It would be nice if this thing gave some notice before closing tabs.
Seems to work fine most of the time, but today it suddenly saved the same tab thousands of times at once, and as a result I lost all my previously saved tabs. :(
Amazing. Awesome. Best thing ever. Highly recommend. It cured my tabitus.
Pretty nice, keeps my browser from having 20+ tabs open at once. Especially a problem with Reddit. This app is great, kudos to the developer.
I like how it will automatically close a tab as opposed to suspending it but leaving it "open". I wish it was easier to lock a tab such as middle click or double click a tab. Right now I have to right click the extension, choose options, and then find the tab I want and then enable locking.
Sometimes resumes by itself. Other than that it's good.
Great app for managing multiple projects at once! Just wish there was an ability to group/rename tabs for ease of access. Also, I wish that the tabs would default to opening in a new tab from the corral, instead of overwriting the current one. Otherwise, great app! Super useful!
Useful, but not when you have to restore those tabs and it all goes into your current window as a massive clump instead of their respective windows. Uninstalled.
Does exactly what I expected and freed up a lot of memory in the process, thanks!
Gotta love having a million tabs open in my attempts to find a solution for my programming problems. Now they can vanish!!!
Some times i forget that it is on and i wonder why my tabs are closing. but then i remember and like that i can go find the ones i really wanted opened and leave closed the ones that were just cluttering up my browser
More or less, it works as expected. And it is free. Chrome is GB-hunger
... and the DEV listened to the crowd: now it's possible to set the timer below 1 minute. Thank you!
Excellent. I was using the previous version, but the renewed love it found in 2017 brought lot of small incremental changes and enhancements. Recommended for any tab junkie (like me).
Please add a countdown on each tab.
Description was nothing like I expected. Didn't run well on my computer. Definite dislike.
Gone are the days with 50+ tabs where you lose track of which ones you actually use! You can safely forget about them and have them stored away in the auto-closed list, which has great defaults. Just make sure to add select sites to auto lock. Only feature I'm missing is one-click deletion.
I had forgotten this extension for 18 months and then when the tab overload happened it struck me that this great productivity extension is available. Thanks to the tab wrangler admins.
VERY HELPFUL! I love how it quietly just closes old tabs, I have mine set to 30 minutes and I'm never surprised that it closes the tabs since I completely forget about something if I haven't looked at it in 30 minutes. Also, tab locking is amazing!

Really really useful. I love this extension. You just get good at learning to "pin" tabs that you need to leave open and unattended intentionally. The version before the most recent update was a bit better - now you have to click all these check boxes and hit delete, rather than just being able to dismiss with one click. I miss that functionality, but it is still a useful tool.
Very helpful for my old laptop
Really useful extension if you're like me and open too many tabs. I didn't like the recent update with the checkboxes though, as it now takes two clicks to delete a tab from the corral instead of one. What I'd also love would be an option to REOPEN tabs if the number of open ones gets below 5 (or 8 in my case, or whatever the user has set)
loved this
Would like to see ability to have a reminder in the bottom left when a tab is about to close, and the ability to then click that to have that tab and window gain focus, so I could see what it is, and decide myself to close it
It "just works" and saves me from having too many open tabs after a while.
--- UPDATE: Seems to have gone down hill with a recent release. Middle-clicking on an entry opens the link, but no longer removes it from your list. Apparently you have to perform two steps to clean up your corral now. --- At first I thought I would hate it--but a friend urged me to try it for a week. It's awesome. Hands down. The only drawback is that it's slow to open the tab wrangler icon on the toolbar. With 70 sites in the corral, it can take over a minute to open on a dual 2.4 GHz quad-core i7 laptop with mirrored Intel SSDs. A workaround I've found is to right-click the extension, then click the 'options' menu. It *immediately* opens the list of tabs. I'm not sure why getting the list via the icon takes so long when the 'options' route works lightning fast. The only think I think it's missing is an option to corral a tab immediately. There are some things that I know are taking up space, and I want to get back to them later.
No more "too many tabs open" in the browser. My tabs are organized and not distracting. And I can open even more tabs!...
Truly excellent for my habit of leaving too many tabs open. It clears them and then I can review and delete those I really don't care about anymore.
Fantastic app for increasing productivity. I would love to see a feature that allowed different "modes". This would allow me to set low close times (~10 minutes) when working on important tasks, and set longer times when doing leisurely browsing.
Helps keep tabs from getting out of control. I like being able to resurrect old tabs but find that I rarely miss any tab that this add-on wrangles out of my way.
I didn't realize how many tabs I didn't need. The answer is pretty much all of them. I have become bolder as I've used Tab Wrangler longer. My current settings are 5 max tabs and a time out of 7 minutes for inactive tabs. My mind is free from unneeded tab baggage.
Does what it says it does. I have a request though. Could you have a blacklist and whitelist option for tab lock? I want to only discard certain tabs that contain a particular url string but the extension only allows me to auto lock certain url patterns. In other words, I would like the option to discard only certain url matches and exclude everything else.
MAX TABS 500, also MAX TABS 100 BY DEFAULT. I want max to be 999999999999999999999999999999999999 tabs. I want it to be saved to drive rather than stored in cache so no performance issues. Also there is NO WAY to save your tabs. So if your computer crashes you LOST ALL your tabs. If these two problems were fixed then it would be 5 stars, but now I'm worried I relied on this too much and have lost millions of tabs. Not millions but a lot.
I never review anything but after two years of use I would say; give it a try. I set the tab closing time at 35 min.
Tab Wrangler is a must have application to free your mental RAM! Occasionally, it does close a tab that I was working on. But hey, if you can't finish something in twenty Pomodoro minutes, it is almost always not that important!

A++
Very handy. Would have been 5 stars if it allowed you to add tab manually with right click on tab.
doesn't work
simple, efficient and practical..should be built in by default.best among other apps/ext offering same functionality
love this one... saves lot of time
