FINALLY YES! After struggling for 2 hours, going through at least 10 other dark theme extensions, I finally found this one through a YouTube video. All I wanted was an extension that blackened Google Drive and Google Docs (including the actual document page itself, which is what most extensions didn't do), but this works for all websites I've tried so far which is a huge bonus! Thanks Dark Reader team! You've saved my eyes and sanity!

Perfect Solution for Windows 11 websites using Chrome, and really appreciate the ability to customize certain websites to always display dark mode while simultaneously allowing user to choose other websites to show light or dark by clicking the extension icon at will. Great Job!!!

Must have and essential extension! I love the simple keyboard shortcut to toggle it on and off. Lifesaver and should already be integrated to chrome automatically. If only we could have this on the android phone chrome browser!

Brilliant, just what I was looking for as the Google Mail dark theme doesn't apply a black background to the content area of an email. I use a black background for CAD applications as it's less intensive on the eyes, well done developer, excellent work.

Good but it would be nice if you could create a list of websites that it does not turn dark. Google maps is basically unusable with it on.

Been using this for a long time and now it causes a Cloudflare verify loop on websites that use it. Had to turn off Dark Reader from Extensions (not just the page) and it was an immediate fix. Dev seems really behind or just doesn't care about bug fixing :/

thanks to this extension i dont get blasted by gamma radiation and turn into hulk whenever i go on a website without dark mode

Extension is far from its peak now. its fallen so far. sites wont correctly display no matter if you choose dynamic/filter/filter+... its just straight up breaks on alot of sites now. if you want to sacrifice important elements on a website by all means give it a try but it breaks all the time rather than correctly working as intended

Only a smidgen of sites it DOEST work on, but it threw DARK MODE ON MY GOOGLE DRIVE AND NOW I DONT HAVE TO GO BLIND AT 1 am :3

It is amazing but I found out an issue while using this extension. The issue is when I use dark mode in Youtube the play and pause on any video through cursor is taking a time of 4-5 sec while actually it takes only 1 sec to play/pause without this.

I ENJOY DIRECTING FLASHLIGHTS TOWARDS MY EYES! ? -100/10 hehe. seriously, in my top 5 most important extensions, love it.

I am going to release a dynamic dark theme fully available in demo mode, without an alternative scripts for the videos websites and GAFAM essentialy, this come with CTM that is made to use only the mouse in the web and outside, for example: -Left not verylong open in background - Left is current tab - Right in a focused tab ChromeTabMouse with DCPF

Love this extension BUT, at least for me, new tabs open to an all white screen for a second before the extension activates. So I get periodically blinded but what I'm trying to avoid, especially since most of us turn up the brightness once our system is in dark mode. Can the makers PLEASE make an update that remedies these blinding flashes of white on every new tab (and sometimes switching between dormant tabs)?

Best extension I used so far. However, there are some problems: Dynamic filter mode makes MediaWiki wikis (including Wikipedia's classic Vector theme) look weird. YouTube should always be blacklisted on this extension as it has a good dark theme.

Never expected that it would be this good! Before, I used a different extension, which I'd rather not mention as it is not effective in every webpage. However, my browsing experience improved since I came across Dark Reader. It's customizable and easy to use. I highly recommend using this!

This extension is spectactular.

Having played with a ton of these, this is the easiest I've seen. Its layed out simple and easy for a new user, but has extras to tune some custom color settings for the advanced user if you want them.

Completely unpredictable, It's great to have when it's working but every time I think I'm happy with it it goes and blinds me. Turning it off doesn't disable it completely, some elements stay inverted or you get a whole new random look. It really needs a global option to not invert images (maybe over a certain size) and especially to never make dark elements bright. Changing filters helps on some sites but still gets many things wrong and you end up spending more time screwing with the plugin than you would have on the site to begin with.

This was working fine. Since two days, sending email on SFDC is failing. It says the body content is exceeding characters. I am able to send email if I disable this.

This was perfect until whatever they changed on todays update (9th jan) now all my sites going inverted and weird and looks horrible. I used this to help my eyes and now its just hurting them more and no matter how much I play with settings it remains all weird and messed up. Please revert the update.

A lot of websites become broken, crash or lag as hell!!!!! Please don't install this trash if you're running a potato. It makes your browser totally unusable

I've been an user of Dark Reader since I've discovered it. Perhaps since 2019? 2018? I don't know. I'm still using it in different computer. Dark Reader really helps me as I read wattpad or some romantic shiz. I have poor eyesight and it quickly hurt my eyes if the background is white. So thank you, Dark Reader for your service! Looking forward for more features!

I've seen MANY WebGL apps having their styling (hence, basic functionality) broken by this extension, and after investigating I found out that the extension prevents the exhibition of WebGL canvases positioned at negative z-index layers (which is very common in the WebGL ecosystem/industry: positioning renderers in negative z-index layers and content in positive z-index layers). Such careless intrusive prevention of content exhibition may lead non-technical users to believe that the website or web app they're trying to use is malfunctioning when it's actually the extension breaking their functionalities. I'm presuming the same end result this extension tries to deliver could be achieved properly by taking the minimum z-index value used by the website or app it's acting on into consideration instead of just hiding content.

Incredible extension! The granularity and control regarding per site settings and ways to toggle on/off automatically are all masterfully executed (though there is a slight learning curve). Props to the dev(s)!

It was way better before the latest update. Especially it is really bad while using google chrome for reading pdfs, it makes screen dark but also alters my pdfs to dark mode which wasn't happening before the update.

It is necessary for the new YouTube layout, which is too dark. It makes no sense why they choose a completely black background with white text. I like that you can adjust how dark the background is with this extension.

People who complain about their sites not rendering as expected in dark mode don't understand that this is an open source extension and you can add fixes for your favorite website in GitHub pull requests you can even post an issue and other developers will fix it for you. No one should ever rate this lower than 5 stars

Love the extension, however it doesn't seem to work correct with text colors for text editing sites such as Jira & Confluence (or any type of text editing site where you can use different colors for text, always shows as white/gray).

Hi. This extension is great and it works very well, EXCEPT for this... When it is enabled I can't use WhatsApp Web in Brave Browser. Have to disable it and restart Brave to get WhatsApp functionality back.

This is a great chrome extension that is open source. It was updated by the community when there was a problem with it displaying ZenDesk properly.

This is one of the best dark mode addons and its formatted very well and its a great think for people with the need for darkness.

Unsure if this has been asked yet, but is there a way to make the extension active UNTIL I click on it? I don't like having to constantly turn off sites that I do not want the extension to run on. So far I go ahead and click on the settings of the extension and unmark the site that I am using but wished it work the other way around. If this was a setting it'd be perfect (unless it already is a feature and I can't figure it out)

I have used this for a while and whilst it's been great and it's very polished as a product. I have noticed it causing a lot of my web pages to crash whilst its loading the page. This has happened across my work laptop and also my home PC, which both have great specs so it shouldn't be crashing. The main culprit seems to be on LinkedIn, I have it turned on - it crashes every couple of pages. I have it turned off and crashes are reduced by 90%. It makes me having to turn it off most of the time, which isn't ideal.

I did like this very much. In fact, I liked it so much I had to come back and review it.

The best chrome extension I have ever used. The inverter works perfectly about 95% of the time, which was surprising to me since websites today are so complex. Super easy to use and doesn't cause any performance issues.

Inconsistent, used mostly in google docs in which it made the text harder to read than a regular dark mode application, it seemed like the text font was slightly cropped along the outside, could be do to anti-aliasing or other issues. The addon didn't always work well, in google docs the page turned orange, whilst outside of it the window was black. In another docs window the page was black and the outside of it white.

Great extension for desktop, use it for everything. I like being able to switch it off for specific sites if it renders wrong.
