It doesn't show me any of my system-installed fonts! ??!! I specifically want to use one of my own custom-created fonts, but it just shows me tons of generic knock-off fonts. Bleah!

Nice concept, but hard to see the fonts and would like the ability to update via multiple selectors. Also, no support for font weights. Check out "Previewer for Google Fonts" for a better solution.

Ok so I used it a few years ago. While it gets the job done quickly, the main problem is that it doesn't apply proper weights to the on-screen fonts. PS - snapfont does this quite well.

I feel this extension is misnamed. It is called a "previewer" but really it just provides an extension that lets you select fonts/settings from google fonts and generates the stylesheet link for you...you still need to then add that single <link> tag into your html to "preview" that font combo. As soon as you close the extension's window it loses all your settings and so you have to start from scratch each time...which is fairly useless. More useful would be an extension that automatically injected the font stylesheet into the page at the current tab. Let you specify a set of font selectors with different fonts/sizes/weights/letter-spacing/etc and had those dynamically applied to the page. Settings should be saved so you can tweak typography on real webpage over time until you find the font/setting combination you want to use and then export the settings. Something like that.

It only worked for awhile, then after closing my gmail and going back later the font is gone and has to be selected again :( Nice idea but it needs to work

This would be super helpful, but there is one BIG problem. When you change between Tabs, it forgets all your settings about selectors and font and you have to start over. Also size and weight don't work. A bit halfassed right now, still usable to some extend.

Can be slow to scroll through the list but this plugin makes it so much easier to preview what your site will look like using a different typeface. Good job! As others had said, the ability to only show certain fonts would gain this a solid 5 stars.

The font filters are just inadequate for the amount of fonts google now offers (i. e. can't filter by serif/sans/mono/...). Also it sometimes just doesn't work.

It's ok. Does what it says. The scroll window freezes up and takes time to 'catch up'.

Didn't work for me. Too bad. EDIT: I got it working. I needed to load the page from http:// instead of file://

Good work Pamela, Here is better way to do it:- 1. don't load all fonts that I never want to use it myself. 2. search for font that I am searching for. Much better if you show me related font in same style or type. Now then apply so I can better scroll font (plugin windows). Make it better and don't load all fonts in list and I will gave 5 star rating. :) Good work! :)

It works, and it's useful, but the performance is absolutely terrible. It loads EVERY SINGLE FONT when you open the menu. There is no option to disable it, and you cannot filter the fonts by name. And it doesn't even cache them. This makes it take several minutes to locate a specific font because EVERY time I scroll the window freezes for several seconds to render the list. If I could just untick the "font preview" option and see a sans-serif list of font names, I would give this 5 stars. Better yet, do generate the font names but save them as a local image. Stop having to reload all of these fonts just because I closed the window... wow. Right now, it's barely usable.

Extremely helpful! I like that I can see all of the fonts and target only certain elements. The Font Playground extension has the advantage of being faster, but as a consequence, you can't simply scroll through the fonts and look at all of them at once easily.

Doesn't seem to work on HTTPS sites as it uses the HTTP versions of the fonts (which are then blocked)

SLOW, VERY SLOW. Takes forever to load all the fonts, and if you click out of the window you have to do it all over. Also, no easy way to quickly navigate through fonts.

It's a really awesome extension, but I wish you could change the fonts of asian fonts as well (ie: korean, japanese, chinese) because that's the reason why I was looking for a font changer anyways :(

What a great relief after centuries of Verdana ;-) What I miss is mainly a possibility to select the font-family (serif, handwriting ...), but by far great enought for 5 stars!

Nice extension, but I think that it would be so much better if it didn't reset every time the dialog box is opened and if there was some filtering/search options for narrowing down the fonts. Cheers!

Lavi Perchik September 25th, 2012
Lavi Perchik

A very good idea, however, it's not so useful if you don't know the name of the font you need. I would suggest two things: 1. there should be 4 categories to filter through: sans-serif, serif, display, handwriting 2. The font size of the preview should be much bigger, even if it meant we will be able to only see the letters "Ab"

Terrific! One request would be to allow the user to go from one font to the next using the keyboard - having to use the mouse to click each one is kind of a pain. Great work, though!

This is simply fantastic! I would like to change the size value manually to be set. That would be much useful.
