Works like a champ for me. Tons of features I didn't even know I wanted too!

Doesn't seem to work anymore.

When Sprucemarks switched to a Patreon subscription model, I switched to SuperSorter. Unfortunately for me, SuperSorter added a requirement this week to grant it access to my browsing history. Therefore, I uninstalled SuperSorter. While looking for yet another option for bookmark sorting, I discovered that Sprucemarks no longer requires a Patreon account to work. Yay! I'm back on Sprucemarks — and loving it! It's by far the best and easiest to configure bookmark-sorter that I've tried. And during the past year or so while I was away, Kai has really improved the extension's user interface. It's better than it ever was. I happily donated two bubble teas (using PayPal and NOT Patreon) to Kai. Thank you Kai!

Used to work. No longer works on Chrome for sorting. It can still find duplicates, etc, but I primarly want the sorting feature.

Really neat piece of software! I would donate but I don't have any money.

How it works???

Doesn't work anymore. I tried it on Chrome, Firefox and other browsers. But every time I click on "Tools" the extension crashes.

Seems you need to have a Patreon account before it'll even let you demo/trial the software. It's probably great, but no thanks.

Unusable without a Patreon account.

Its an awesome, must have, application and the dev is quick to respond. I am a patreaon of this application as I feel it is worth my money to support and continue to support even though I am past the $7 they ask to keep it unlocked. I urge each and one of you 10,000+ users to at least pay the $1.00/mo. My wife doesn't even realize its coming out.

Update: developer contacted me and I was mistaken about a syncing issue which I thought was a bug. Appreciate the quick response. This is my favorite extension of all time, well worth the seven bucks (or more) on Patreon!

Used to be a 5-star extension. Now it's soft-paywalled. Don't even bother. I used to love this app because it was the only easy way to sort bookmarks by URL. Now, I'll have to find some other means of doing this.

Why does the description say unlock, this is simply 100% paid otherwise it wont work. I thought it would allow you to manually adjust them each time, but it doesnt work without paying.

Works beautifully! The one-time $7 cost is well worth it—unless you're too cheap to pay someone for their hard work, I guess.

After noticing that bookmarks will not sort anymore, only when I checked to discover its no longer free you will now need to donate, although I would have gone with donating, i noticed over the years that it got pretty slow and ill have to go and have to hit the options for it to sort again, I found a better extension that actually is faster and works every time and free I will stick to the free version, i dont mind paying but it has to work the way it should not sometimes and with a paid version who knows what will happen latter down the road. took off some stars for this. update--- Feb 2020 This is what everyone is looking for straight organizing A-Z the best bookmark organizer for chrome period. Thanks to the developers for answering this cry.

Warning! This program doesn't work at all, unless you become a member of an external website that is not owned by google. That you have to become a member of some vague website ,that is not owned by google , makes this program very suspicious. Even though bitdefender didn't give any warnings for the website. I still would be careful.

This was a great extension but the author has recently put it behind a subscription. I totally understand the need to fund one's work but this is absurd. Everything lately is going to subscriptions and nickle and diming us to death. It's not sustainable for the average user.

Oh, my, gosh, oh, my gosh! After searching high and low for a bookmark manager to organize my umpteen hundreds of bookmarks, THIS IS IT! Right after I unlocked it and set my options for A-Z sorting and folders, a magical moment happened: my bookmarks bar went crazy and these BEAUTIFUL folders appeared according to subject and inside each, the bookmarks were A-Z, too! I darn near started bawling because I've hassled trying to manually do that for YEARS. I'm talking a matter of 3 SECONDS, it was all done automatically! The best $7 I've spent in a long time! SQUEEE! I'm so thrilled all those bookmarks are beautifully organized. Thank you, thank you to Nightmode for this awesome piece of software!

Ordering bookmarks should be included in Chrome out of the box. As usual, when Google drops the ball, talented people pick it up and make great stuff like Sprucemarks. I liked this extension so much I didn't mind the 7 bucks donation to support this effort. Good job sir, please continue making quality software!

Was working well until they decided to tack on a monthly charge. Removing it for a better option.

very good bookmark sorter but new update only allow patreon user to use it so free users no longer can activate this addon anymore. actually i dont mind if free users has ads banner as long as the addon still can be used

Well, I use to like it. It auto-updated and is now a PAID product. I will now be removing it.

Wow. Suddenly an extension jumps from free opensource to $7. Even past Patreon subscribers are blocked if they don't reach the $7 minimum. I only sorted my bookmarks once. I don't remember if it was this or another sorter that worked best, but I certainly won't be paying $7 to find out. I can understand a moving to a paid model when significantly upgrading but don't retire the old free one and don't suddenly deactivate the old one. Nasty.

Love the extension have been using it for a while. From my understanding the most annoying part of it has been fixed with the Feb 2018 update? Which is able to sync settings? It's always a PiTA to be putting my settings back every time I install chrome on a new computer, sync and then I know the extension won't sync preferences. From my understanding by using the chrome.storage API this is done (but if using *.sync which I don't know if this extension is using that call). UPDATE 04-JAN-2020: Extension now followed the classic freeware-turned-into-shareware route, worst part is that the github repo with the open source version (which allegedly will become obsolete etc and is only meant for advanced users) was removed so no way to grab it now. Bon voyage.

I'm all for being paid for your work, but to move a free extension, which sorts bookmarks... to be a $7 paid software... is a bit much, you'd get a lot more people biting at a lower cost, anyway uninstalled.

To require Patreon support for even a basic level of use goes against the tradition of Chrome extensions. There's really not enough functionality in this extension to warrant that much of a payment.

Very good Extension, used it for several years. I understand the developer wants reward for his efforts in developing and keeping the extension up to date but I do not like the way he is doing this now with Patreon. So I for the moment have moved to Super Sorter.

RIP this app. No one is gonna pay for a bookmarks sorter. The creator is delusional and now just ruined it by being greedy.

Locking extension behind a patreon paywall is a big yikes from me. I understand wanting to get paid for development time but this is the wrong way to go about it.

I am a developer and I do understand that you want to make some money off of this extension. But you choose wrong way to do it. This Patreon stuff sucks so no thank you

They recently decided to display this "Patreon Supported Software" message every time my browser opens now. Thanks, but I'll be moving onto something else. I mean really, it just sorts my bookmarks. Why put an ad?

NEW UPDATE NOW REQUIRES READING MY BROWSING HISTORY -- SO I AM NOW UN-INSTALLING SPRUCEMARKS PERMANENTLY. I WAS HAPPY WITH THIS EXTENSION AND RECOMMENDED IT, BUT MY PRIVACY IS MORE IMPORTANT TO ME.

Loved it for years but don't agree with how the extension changed. I would have liked 2 separate forks in Chrome Web Store, one free and one Pro (paid). Providing an "open source" Github option before Jan 1 is all fine and dandy but who wants to use developer mode and have an extra warning box to dismiss for using developer mode? Enjoyed it while it lasted. Guess all good things come to an end.

Doesn't work. I'm on Windows10 Google Chrome Version 74.0.3729.169 Is there a button to do the actual sort or is it supposed to happen automatically?

It's great. But it seems to be ranking bookmarks with no "Added Date" as the recent most. This just put me in whole lot of new trouble when I imported bookmarks in Brave. Or may be some bug did it.

Very simple, very effective. One of those "why the heck isn't this built-in behavior" sort of extensions.

Chrome bookmark manager has only one sort option — by bookmarks' names. And as you have done it, there is NO possibility to undone. NO! This extension allows you to sort bookmarks in different ways. I spent an hour looking for this solution and have finally found this simple and genius tool. Thanks a lot!

Great simple extension! thanks Daniel , The only thing you can improve is to change the name so it can be easier to find in the search of extension. Naturally someone searching help in bookmark will write bookmark. Doing so your extension does not show but if you make a copy with the name "Bookmark Sprucemarks" or "bookmark sorter sub-folder" it can help the algorithm to put you closer to the top. I was lucky to find your great extension by reading comments from another extension that suggested your. cheers

How I felt about this extension first time using it? ... tear up = "mainly us to get tears in your eyes, so that you almost start to cry, because you are experiencing strong emotion"

Sprucemarks provides me with the level of control over my bookmarks that I need, and it does so in a completely unobtrusive manner. It is, bar none, the best bookmark organizing tool I've used, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Good at what it does, but it doesnt do enough. I wish it had control to choose sort method for individual folders

Perfect replacement for SuperSorter, since SS stopped working for me.

This is highly recommended for those who, like me, maintain subfolders. Sprucemarks automatically sorts out not just the folders, but also the bookmarks within each folder. A superb extension.

This is genius. I have one system for the links and folders that reside in the bookmarks bar seen on top of the browser which is not alphabetized. For all of the rest of my bookmarks I prefer they be added alphabetically which for some strange reason Chrome can't do, go figure. Each time I added a bookmark it required going in to the (now dysfunctional with latest update) Bookmark Manager and alphabetizing, a waste of time. I was actually looking for a new Bookmark Manager when stumbled across this extension. Now I'll not need to even visit the Chrome Bookmark Manager as much as before. Sincere thanks for this most helpful extension.

Finally I can sort my bookmarks by URL!! I've been waiting for Google to implement such a feature for years, and they haven't, so I'm glad that Sprucemarks exists to pick up the slack!

Thank god for this extension! I accidentally sorted my bookmarks by name and for some ridiculous reason google made this permanent and irrevertable. Now with this extension, the problem is solved.

Works well, strange that one needs a plugin for such a basic functionality.

Works as promised, not sure why this isn't a feature built into Chrome but w/e Sprucemarks has me covered. Would recommend!
