Forcefully opens a new tab on startup with advertising for their other apps. Happened to me 3 times in 2 days, and it was difficult to find out that it was this extension causing it. Does it again when you uninstall the extension. I thought I had malware installed on my computer, turns out i did and it was called Recent History.

Liked this extension. Have used it for years. However today when I opened Chrome a new window popped up that I wasn't expecting, pushing for me to install a new "integrate me into everything you use on Google" extension. I had to go digging around on the extension's site to find out it's related to this extension, from this developer. Looks like this extension updated and now it opens what can only be described as an advertisement for the developer's other products. No warning, no explanation, No "Hey you use our other extension so we thought you might like this". I spend a good 20 minutes trying to determine if I had malware or a virus, because browser hijacking is what malware and viruses do. Not cool. Looks like I'll be shopping around for another history manager extension.

Used to love the extension but I can't keep around an extension that has ads and opens up random links whenever it feels like.

OK for accessing Recent History and Recently Closed Tabs via pop-up, but the All History search function locks up more often than it works. Removed. P.S. History button is built-in to Edge, so I've migrated to that.

Google store says last updated was May 28, 2021 and is version 3.0.5. The changelog of the extension (in the settings) says last updated December 17, 2019 and is version 3.0.5. The developer's GitHub (https://github.com/umarsheikh13/recent-history) shows the code updated since December 16, 2019.

just installed. instruction said to the the blue clock icon. Well, I didn't get one when I installed this extension. And if it is there, I sure as heck can't find it or see it.

i used this extension and i loved it..but a few week a go, it automatically disable after 3-5 minute every time when i opened chrome... i search my extension and have not and in chrome store either...but, when i closed and relaunch chrome an it re-appear...

I've used Recent History for months and it has been flawless. A few weeks go it began displaying "Updated to v3.05" when Chrome 80 64-bit was started. I reset the options to Most Visited = 25 and all others are zero and saved it. It says it saved the changes. The next time Chrome is started it says "Updated to v3.05" again and all options are at the default again. So it's not saving the changes now for some reason. I tried removing and reinstalling v3.05 but that did not help. The Github changelog for v3.05 just says "Fixed browser action bug". https://github.com/umarsheikh13/recent-history/blob/master/README.md

I was looking for a history page where pages can be sorted per site. This extension does the task. edit: However, I ended to have an issue with the search as nothing appears in the results sometimes (keeps "loading").

Used to work great. Unfortunately it has now stopped showing recent history in a pane on the LHS of the screen and just shows the normal Chrome history page

As of Chrome 79.0.3945.79, history invokes Chrome history list instead of recent history list. Forcing the chrome-extension://history gives an error: BLOCKED.

It is everything I was looking for in such an extension and more. It seemed well written and it runs efficiently. I like that it is Creative Commons / open source software as well.

Awesome extension, this way I can have bookmark for it on new tab page. Only issue is with the popup, when loading a tab from one of the history entries it dissolves the previous tab in addition to the current tab. This happens on the latest kiwi chrome browser on android. Please fix.

This is an excellent extension. It is very well thought out in the way it displays the very info you need right up front. I really like the amount of information it gives when I can't quite remember the site I was on. I haven't as yet had an issue and here's hoping right! Thanks Dev!

when deleting the history of a single selected website it cannot display all the items togethers and you keep click "delet history" and it keeps show you more

there is something that really annoys me in this extension, when i open All History the first domain is always collapsed (showing the sites) , i dont like that I hate that.I want them to be all "compressed" please fix it please!

very good plugin

This extension is great when it works. Unfortunately it times out very often when I use the search feature. Sometimes it flat out won't load any results and you have to retry multiple times or restart the browser to get it to work (also multiple times). I haven't found anything better but I really wish this was updated.

Search the history doesn't work. The icon just keep rolling and rolling without any results. Uninstalling.

Love this extension - makes History searches more useful and faster. Being able to filter out domains (ex: gmail) is a great feature. 2 questions: Can someone explain the three sorting buttons at the top right? I understand they have to do with ascending/descending, grouping by domain, etc. but I'd like to know what expected behavior of each is, as well as expected behavior when button A set, then button B set. There is no help pop up for these, though there is for everything else. 2nd question: Is there a functional or performance difference between the history manager selection? Thanks.

Does exactly what i needed (find history by DATE) with minimal permissions, maximal privacy.

Missing items from my history, removed addon and they showed up as expected at the correct time. Worse than useless if it's inaccurate.

Not working properly. It says 'No results found', but in Chrome's History, I can see there are entries for that specific date. It has one job, and it doesn't do it properly, so...

This is the best recent history extension I have found so far. The ability to show not just up to 30 recent tabs in the drop-down window, but also 30 recent history items, 30 recently bookmarked items, and 30 most visited items makes Recent History a keeper for any power user.

Cool, but please add opening multiple pages at once. I use Great Suspender to keep several tabs open in different windows, but sometimes Chrome forgets to restore them. Chrome doesn't have the option of opening multiple tabs, and I was hoping you would... disappointed.

This history with date and time stamp is awesome!

Very useful, especially for those as I, who often close their tabs too impulsively and then ol' Chrome doesn't always help in finding a specific tab again. Well done. P.S. I'm don't do a lot of reviews, should do more, but this is real handy addition to Chrome.

Like it but miss seeing the history from other devices. I often find something on the pc and read it later on on my phone by going to history and looking at the other device history. Can't figure out if I'm doing something wrong in setting the options or that it's not available right now?

Love it! Can you give us an option to add vertical padding around the items in the popup? Like a slider that could default to 0 but would let us add more padding. Pleaseeeeeeeee. On my 4k display it looks like it was made for ants.

creates a new instance of previously opened website. Doesn't actually recall recent history. Ie, I can't open a recently closed website, and then hit back to go that instance's previous page. Instead it goes back to current instance's previous page.

Shows recently closed tabs, history, and recent bookmarks. Better than Chrome's native history and probably one of the best extensions I've seen. It would be cool if you could edit/delete bookmarks or history items from the pop-up. Still a solid 5 stars though

Not search any word in the history, constant "No results" when you select a date.

As of v49 Chrome on stable channel this extension is not working properly. The button is not available in search bar/omnibox and it's moved to toolbar area of Chrome browser. There seems to be no way around this using extension's options. Can you update extension to fix this or did Google changed how things work again?

Awesome. But beware: It changes your default "history" view. You have to go to "options" in this extension if you want to keep the native Chrome history view.

loved it bro , just want one tiny improvement would make is perfect . When i open the list from drop down arrow , list heading font is too greyish and not bold enough to easily visible at ist look , e.g "Recently Closed Tabs " should be more bold or different in color so it will be more appealing and more visible. maybe you can introduce font style for these headings like, font size change ,font style and color etc . or simple make these headings bold :D , ty for reading this. Used to be a fantastically useful and pretty much vital add-on which should have been a feature of Chrome in the first place, but now it simply doesn't work - clicking on the button brings up a tiny drop down menu with "Show all history" and settings but in fact does not display ANY of your recent history let alone let you edit any of it, therefore being useless. Please fix this, as right now there's no alternative extension which functions in the same way, which is quite frankly baffling given how much more clunky Chrome's built-in history page is.

Used to be great - now it only works in Win XP, shows only a tiny window with "settings" and "show all history" in Win7, win 8... Please fix it!

This extension used to work wonderfully, but has stopped working (as of September 1, 2013). All I can get it to show is the 'All History' link. Only useful to move to a specific date in your history now.

Just returned to this extension. But it doesn't seem to work properly - the dropdown from the top menu bar works, but the History page (Ctrl+H) just displays the default Chrome history. Or does it only display the RH page if I select "Show all History" from the menu bar? If so, that's not very useful. I'm confused!

Whenever I try to make a search it just hangs completely with that circle spinning, so incredibly unuseful. Uninstalling.

This extension really does what I need. First it kind of hang on search, but I had other similar extensions and hadn't restarted the browser. Now it works fine. The filter is very flexible. Very nice.

Very nice work Mr.Umar Sheikh If it would be able to show current tabs when we have more than certain numbers of tabs ( e.g. more than 20 tabs),then we could work more easily in crowded browser . The icon can change and show the number of tabs and we will notice that we can use it to find any tab more easily . Good luck Morteza

Perfect. A very useful extension.

I like the way it kept the history but I could never delete history using it, it would just act as if it was deleting I even left it on all night and it still hadn't deleted anything and this was only 3 days of browsing history.

Very nice add-on, love the interface and configuration options. 4 stars as like another reviewer mentioned the google analytics code that occurs every time the button's clicked makes the drop down menu feel too slow! To fix this myself I've added another extension called "Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on (by Google)", note this will block the Analytics code from all web sites (in other words you won't be tracked by Analytics), and as a result the recent history menu now pops up instantly, much better :-)

So few extension show recently closed tabs. This even has lots of options; even some to open in background tabs without closing the extension's pop-up window. It is much more than I was expecting.

Amazing capabilities of what appeared to be a very simple extension. There's even more then needed but the customization is just perfect. I really recommend it!

Everything is fine except for the searching function.Which is so buggy,sometimes it stuck on loading(may be its the instant search causing this?).And it doesn't even give me the proper result i want.

-1 star, does not use the begin and end date to refresh list -1 star, two calendars can overlap - 1 star, does not override default history page

I give this extension 3*, though I would give it 5* if the "History Page" function worked. That is, the "chrome-extension://history/" option causes Chrome to almost completely freeze up if it is enabled and overrides Chrome's default view of the history tab. To explain, if I click "Show Full History" at the bottom of the History menu, it takes me almost a minute to get the history tab close. As for now, I still use the toolbar button part of the extension, but I really like the elegant interface the extension gives to Chrome's bland "History" function. Too bad it's for looks only and not to play with. PS :: Same problem with the Toolbar Icon version of the extension. PSS :: If this is corrected, I will gladly change my 3* rating to 5*.

Great extension but i would love it even more if the Recently Closed Tabs worked as they do in the New Tab page where as re-opening the tab restore that tab session so that you can use the back/forward buttons. In this extension it only opens up the specific page that was open when the tab was closed.
