Probably the best and most flexible Dark Background extension, some minor issues of not displaying some popups, but these are very rare, and I probably did not check to correct these issues, probably a color change of some lines will do the trick, most of the common website work great. I´m used to it for so long, I can´t browse without it anymore. I use this Chrome extension in Opera. The colors of the text change and are very suitable, often the page looks much better with the colors I choose, as these are configurable.

WARNING: OPERATED BY THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT. Look at the devs address and screenshots. I noticed because my google maps and twitter would randomly not work. I disabled this extension and they worked again. Meaning this extension, similar to chinese/CCP operations blocks certain websites. Additionally no privacy report exists on this extension, meaning security and privacy concerns are highly likely. STAY AWAY.

This is very good app extension.

It works well enough that I'll us it. Doesn't work well with Google Calendar. The time zone colors are all the same BG color. It also has trouble with a few other sites, but since I am able to permanently disable the app to these trouble sites, I can live with it. It's far better than feeling my eyes burn out after 5 minutes, and on every page there after. I'll see how much my appreciation for this app is after a few weeks and give an update. A popup suggested clicking night mode after entering this review. Ever feel like someone's watching you? At any rate, it helped. So I'm still learning how to use it. I'll get back.

Cool idea but I noticed that it adds a horizontal scrollbar on certain websites, most notably Facebook messenger. Messenger is the main reason I downloaded this so I will sadly be uninstalling.

Why did the developer has to throw in his ideas on things other than related to this application/extension? Saw some statement written Chinese language when I clicked the extension icon and google-translated to following. Most of the words give what this developer is trying to say and that's not good considering the world is now understanding slowly Chinese government's actions. Youtube needs optimising when video plays. Same with Twitch and Twitter.

I'ts pretty good. Doesn't always function properly on certain websites, but most of the time, which is good enough for me. On many websites it tends to suppress the cookie consent popup and you can't scroll on the page. Use 'disable on this site', click the popup, and enable it again. On a few sites it tends to invert images, but that is not necessarily a problem of the extension itself. Often times when I have two browser windows open simultaneously, the extension gets confused and manipulates the other browser instead of the one I want to manipulate.

The perfect app for u eyes

Whitening images and videos does not "care my eyes". This extension should act only on texts and background colors.

It's not perfect but it's the best I've found after many months of searching. Doesn't work on all websites but it generally works. Plus, dark gray background is so much better than black. As others have said, auto scrolling sites present a problem and splash screens on certain sites don't show up correctly (often the 'X' to close screen can't be seen)

Unable to use the click to change color options which is what I really needed to work. It just doesn't work.

Really good extension, one issue tho, it breaks some twitch channels so that the video panel goes black even when the Disable at this site option is enabled, video works as soon as you disable the extension from the dropdown menu tho. Might wanna look into that.

It was good but when I reinstalled windows it stopped my google maps from working similar to this fault https://appuals.com/fix-google-maps-not-working-in-chrome/ . deleted the extension & I now have map view. You can blacklist it for the site if required

@Zhang Xiaoting Can you please find the time to update this great extension. Fix italics, and add just single pages on domains and not blanket cover for whole domains. Some times just one or two pages are needed for night more, but not the whole domain. And just give it a 2019/2020 fresh update please. It would be a kindness to all your users here.

click to change color does nothing. at all. I was hoping for 100% mastery of all colors on the internet, but instead it is permanantly set to its default color. delete this extension and start over with a color swatch and an ink dropper. Turn the internet into MSpaint

It's quirky, its free, and it saves my eyes from aching, doesn't work on all websites (like this review page!), but I'm glad for the ones it does. Wish I had stumbled upon this sooner.

I love it, more than what I expect.

Great option for when it works. I find that when using nightmode doesn't always shift the color of the text. Nothing like black text on a black background. When it works, it is wonderful. I've also seen conflicts with captcha windows and other fill in pop ups.

Anyone know why Care Your Eyes doesn't work on certain sites (like the NY Times)? I asked CYE support--but those people are utterly useless as I never got a reply. Eventually, some other company will create a better product.

Even though he interface is very awkward and counter-intuitive, this simply makes for a steeper learning curve than would be necessary with more intuitive interface. Otherwise, the extension is very well thought out. When the user recognizes the thought process of this extension, its benefits are tremendous. It is easily the most versatile extension for customizing the browser to reduce eye strain. Once understood, the interfaces become very efficient. Very well designed except for the rather obtuse interface that while efficient and powerful, doesn't quite work as I think most would initial expect, but once the rationale is finally understood, the extension is FANTASTIC! Too few quality extensions and apps and too awkward design of browsers and HTML5 standards in recent years though the feature set of HTML5 and the extensibility and control within Chrome is powerful. The default modes of operations are simply the opposite of what I feel most every sane individual would want and many settings are difficult to find. I was about ready to code my own extension and inject style sheets prior to every page load. Considering I am a "shade tree" developer that would have required an investment of an hour or two over a period of a week or two (flushing bugs) for me to get right. Thanks for saving me the time and effort.

Excellent extension. Works like a magic. So far not much compatibility issues with websites (occassionally having issue with google docs suites which I appreciate dev to support well in future)

Overall solid, but recently it started to break some websites. It will mess with autoscroll or reorder the site into a format that isn't usable without disabling it. Also the filter it places over videos and images is very unhelpful. Actually lightens them more than it darkens them.

Add an alarm option so that users can take a break from eye strain !! Rest the app is fine, kudos.

Not 5 stars bc when you select 'disable at this site' it doesn't always disable completely. Most noticeably on Twitch the video will still be whited out.

Great tool for reducing eyestrain. Some sites don't render perfectly but that's mainly a site issue and not a plugin issue I believe. Thanks for a great extension!

For the life of me, I just couldn't figure out how to properly use this extension. It seemed like it would work well, but I could never get it to work properly. All the same, I thank the developer for all of their hard work on this product.

not working in a useful manner at all

Good plugin, but it doesn't work for PDF's which is where I need it the most.

I loved this, but no longer works as of September 2018!!!!

Really great but has one major flaw. Even when you disable it there's still a white sheen to the football videos I watch. This means I'm constantly uninstalling and reinstalling it. But it's still useful enough to carry on. Update: Just discovered I can use whitelist mode to get rid of sheen.

Works fine most of the time, recently due to some sort of update I guess something broke. It starts messing with things that automatically scroll with your page like the messenger in facebook.

I'm have problem with this extension in various sites. Such as youtube, reddit. Various element of page gone missing in night mode and thing are out of place. I've been using this over a year, for the first time I'm facing such problem. I've tried removing re-adding Care your eyes, reinstall chrome didn't solve the problem. Please help.

auto night mode doesn't work correct. it's daytime now, and some colors are normal, but the plugin did not disable itself completely.

I love this add on! I mistakenly kept my subwoofer to close to my monitor. As a result, I have a couple of unreliable areas on the computer. I set Care your Eyes to night mode, and it somehow convinces the squares that they're fine. Go figure.

Hi.. this is a good extension.. but on some websites, it creates a lot of blank space in the bottom.. where do we file issues to fix?

Majorly annoying bug where toggling the "disable on this page" option, whether by icon or by right clicking ON THE PAGE, will not target the current page but instead the last page that was loaded or did a refresh (on any tab in any window). Very confusing to have a different tab that refreshes every so often which isn't even maximized, and you're toggling night mode on the unseen page instead of the one you are clicking on.

I'm having problems lately, I'm working on linux Ubuntu. I'll pretty helpful if you check it out. thank you

You can't understand how extension works in terms of how to switch a background of a page over to dark. Many options with strange names and not explained what an option does.

It doesn't do anything. There is no menu to change colors. You can turn it on or off, but neither matter, nothing happens. Worthless. Stop wasting my time.

is there a way to make webstore and chrome settings dark as well?

After reading positive comments, I installed this extension and was surprised to see that night mode does not work well with some very popular websites, e.g. yahoo mail (top and left menus), wikipedia (italics).

Very beautiful and more readable than the competition since it offers dark, yet non-black backgrounds. I would like the option of disabling the hue shift (similar to running Night Mode Pro with a hue shift of 180).

Yes easier on the eyes, though not all fonts switch over and are next to impossible to read. I've adjusted background colors to Happy Mediums with higher contrasts, that way the light and dark fonts are legible. I am fine with the access as long as they maintain my privacy rights and others- 3rd parties can't gain access . . . Over all, I like it! They got it! An extension easy on the eyes is not always black and white. Thank You
