Did not work. Wasted time so hate it
Seems to work intermittently. On videos where it doesn't work, I find refreshing engages this extension and it will work, but that kind of defeats the purpose if you have to go through an extra step just to stop a video from playing. There's an extension on Edge that works better called "YouTube No Buffer - Stop Auto-playing" so I'm going to check and see if its on Chrome as well.
Works....Useful effective lightweight extension....
doesn't work. that's that.
This works in 2022
Doesn't work.
Ya, if it didn't have any affect i'd say maybe I wasn't using it right. But it does have an affect and it's really jenky. Some videos it stops from autoplaying, some it does not. So I would say no, doesn't work as purported.
does not work 2-28-21
Seems upoop (u no what i nean) now has even removed the button to disable autoplay. So now it's necessary to use this extension. I hope it keeps working.
Works. I need to stop my vid at exact spot for my tutorial studies. I bookmark and return the next day. Don't want vid to shoot off bla bla bla before I've had my coffee. Need time turn speed down. Use this extension along with Enhancer for YouTube™ since that one's pause youtube stopped working.
it works
does not stop autoplay
I only wanted it for Watch Later where it doesn't work at all. Totally useless!
Still works OCCASIONALLY. Had to uninstall it & reinstall it to get it working again at all after Youtube's latest meddling. (Note that it's won't work if you're testing it on a refreshed video that has already loaded past 0:00, or if you open Chrome & it opens to a youtube video).
Does not work.
simply not working
it wont work
Absolute garbage, not worth even 1 second f my time. Do not recomended, do not work.
Not workng for me, sorry.
It works 80% of the times, pausing the video immediately at 0:00, but sometimes it doesn't.
I've had this extension for a week so far & it has been working mostly as described. I haven't had any videos automatically play when opened in a new tab in the background or when a tab is focused into the foreground. It does have a side effect that stops everything else on the video page from loading, both above & below the video. This includes the top bar, notifications, video description, comments, related videos on the side or end of the video, ETC. While this is ok for me in most cases, I sometimes wish I could see these things. If possible, I'd like to be able to disable or temporarily switch off the extension right from the toolbar, so I can see the rest of the page. Extension acts differently when videos are simply clicked on & opened in the current tab. Sometimes the video automatically starts. Sometimes the rest of the page loads. [description, related, ETC.] Sometimes with both current & new tabs, the video errors & the page needs refreshed. Sometimes I can't scroll down or up videos pages, like subscriptions or a channel's uploads tab, as if it only loaded what is visible on screen & nothing else. I almost always open videos in new tabs, so I haven't experienced & tested the "open in current tab" situation enough & other mentioned bugs. But I'm still using it despite the bugs.
Didn't work on Fedora x86_64 with Chrome Version 69.0.3497.42 (Official Build) beta (64-bit).
YEEEEESSS!!!!!! It works. Must reload Youtube page before the extension works. But it does work. I have always had trouble with "Watch Later" videos automatically starting the next video. Why would a person want that???? Anyway, thankful this extension works.
suddenly stopped working. Not working at all anymore. its loaded, but YT still starts playing videos the second a YT page is opened. annoying as heck, when it does not do what you ask it to.
Basically what it does is stop running scripts on the page so it won't display anything at all on the page including comments or descriptions in the description box. Even after you hit play it won't load those things.
Works as advertised. I don't need a whole bunch of YT features - I just don't want all the videos to start playing when I reload a session or group of tabs. This one does exactly that. Thanks!
Exactly what i wanted! I wanted videos to not auto play but i wanted playlists to go seamless, this does exactly that. Edit: this was fixed Only problem is sometimes the video plays for like 1 second then pauses. If you could fix that then i'd totally give this 5 stars.
It doesn't do what it says
Seems like it works for some people and not for others. Sketchy... and it didn't work for me, simple.
Doesn't work.
Blocks most of the content in the YouTube sidebar.
It only seems to work about half the time.
Doesn't work.
just works great
Works here, no worries
Works like a charm. Yay!
Works perfectly for me, first try. Thanks! That was so very annoying.
does not work, atleast when restoring all tabs
Video stops playing when skipping through timeline. Very annoying.
No way, it works!
Doesn't work at all.
does not work
Does not work at all . Removing just after 5 minutes of addition .
do I need to write that it doesn't work?
Does not work
Doesn't stop youtube videos auto-playing.
Not working
doesnt work
Its not working
Doesn't work.
It doesn't work for videos in the active window, it only works for new tabs. That's actually what I wanted though lol.
It does not work to disable autoplay in active windows.
This used to work, now it's just crap.
Would be great if it actually turned Autoplay off and kept it turned off, but I have to turn Autoplay off manually with or without this app/extension.
Doesnt do what it's supposed to
Has never worked and has not been updated. Ehhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
Does not work.
Does nothing. Latest version too. Don't bother with a chrome store app. Only workaround is an actual script that runs in the background, not an extension. $$#% you Google.
It only stops autoplay in background windows... I wanted a plugin to stop auotplay in foreground too - only start when I click. It does what it says, but I think most people want what I want!
This addon does what the Extended version they talk about does. It stops auto play in non-focus windows, but not the active window/tab
Simply not working..please make it work bro.
"This version doesn't automatically start Videos" That is redundant and cryptic. One reason people are having trouble with your extensions is because they don't understand what you are saying.
not work
Does positively absolutely NOT WORK. One star.
Good idea, needs update to work.
just doesn't work
Youtube videos autoplay anyway. So, it's not doing what is supposed to do, or I might be missing something in the settings.
This does not work. Youtube still auto plays videos.
The videos don't play automatically but still when i focus on a tab it is playing exactly as the other version of this extension.
Will it ever work in Incognito mode?
Can you stop buffering as well? :P
Doesn't work
doesnot work
Doesn't work, at least not anymore unfortunately.
Did not work for me.
Simply doesn't work for us. Stars are for effort!
DOES NOT WORK Videos still autoplay. The add-on for Firefox to stop autoplay works as advertised. As another said it seems only the first YouTube video is stopped.
seems to work flawlessly -- dunno why this isn't a native chrome/youtube feature!
Doesn't work as advertised
It doesn't work for me. My videos are autoplaying anyway, and there's no options to tinker with to make it work.
works perfect without hassle so far
Worked perfectly. The link to this from the extended option was very helpful, thanks for that. This was something that was really bothering me so I appreciate this extension very much. Thanks!
Exactly what I was looking for. Tried the extended first as it was first in results but didn't want to autoplay when tab was selected. Read from the guy who made it in response to a comment on the extended app to try the normal version to not autoplay on tab select. Works like a charm. Thanks... now I can binge watch in peace without having to focus out of the video, pause, go back... lifesaver!!!
Hate when open Chrome and all youtube tabs from last sessions start play at once.. hope this fix it :)
Neither this, nor the extended work consistently. If workarounds are available, please offer.
N.B. If, like me, you want the 'autoplay' from youtube playlists to be toggled OFF by default, then this is not the extension you are looking for. This extension does exactly what it says in the description. I prefer this one to the extended version by Jacob Groß. If I was going to write an extended version it would not start playing on-tab focus, but it would pause when a tab loses focus, (if that is possible). Also it would make the space bar always pause unless an input box had focus.
won't work
Only disables auto play for the first tab that's loaded, rest of them still play normally.
Would of been 5 stars, but it isn't working... I wanted it because youtube starts playing the video before the comments section loads, and that just ends up making the video lag at the start because my slow computer.
