I can find myself using this a lot this an amazing extension!!!! :)

It works really well, and customizations are nice. Just one feature request- Allow us to change font style.

Great extension, but oversells how customizable it is. Would like to be able to scale iframe or atleast decrease button size & input size

I use this extension several times a day. I'm not kidding when I say that I won't switch to Safari as my primary browser specifically because this extension isn't available on Safari. I created eleven custom searches of my most-used websites to the SearchBar. All I have to do is highlight the search word on the web page I'm reading and the selected text is automatically input into the SearchBar. From there, clicking on one of the eleven custom search icons in the search bar takes me directly to the custom search word web page I need. It's perfect.

Great extension..very useful for die hard web surfers such as myself. Will donate as well as we all should. Author seems like a good guy with a kind heart. Regards, Moses Lawrence

I've been using the extension Selection Search for years (highlight, right click, context menu has various search options) but this has won me over - it's faster to use, even easier to add custom searches to, and has all sorts of features you can tweak too. The only thing I would add is the option to have the search tab be next to the currently open one - selecting the new tab to be the foreground tab is almost as good, but what I'm asking for would be even handier. Great work!

Have been using it for years but never left a review. Of all my extensions, there are only three where I would find browsing unbearable without them, and this is one of them. I use it so much that my only problem is narrowing down the number of custom searches so that it doesn't take up more than one row on my screen.

Can recommend especially in conjunction with Vimium. Quality is on par with it as well, so it feels like they should be part of the same suite anyway.

Love the concept, but would it be possible to add a setting to lock the searchbar in the navigation bar next to the omnibox, like in Firefox?

Awesome tool. One of a kind. Don't see anything that has all the functionality. There is only few things I'd love to see being added to make it PERFECT: 1) Total hit count of searched words (next to each) 2) Next/Prev buttons with a number showing which occurrence 3) Page bar previewing hit locations. It comes as no surprises, that these are the capabilities native search has... but wouldn't it be nice to have all these in one? Native search does not have individual phrase search and coloring, which this extension has.

Very nice extension! Just one feature request: whitelist, such that the extension only runs on certain sites. A blacklist does exist though which is nice!

Remember when internet users would cringe at the sight of extraneous menu bars in a browser? Well, this is one you actually want. Infinitely customizable (I even made my own icons) and endlessly usable, SearchBar has personalized my internet experience which I haven't experienced since the days of AOL. Yes, I said it. The AOL interface seemed (albeit clunky) seemed individualized. Anyways, you should support this because he donates the money to a malaria foundation.

Amazing. the advanced custom searches that allow you to replace "%s" in desired URLs with your search query is SOO AMAZING for being able to automatically go to specific webpages Before i got my macbook i used AutoHotKeys (AHK) to do essentially the same thing, but then found out that there was no AHK for mac and no programs that were even similar. But then I discovered your chrome extension and made my day!!! saves soooo much time. TYYYY

Jacob, From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your hard work to make this extension. I understand what it takes to get something 'just right'. This extension is simply fantastic. Every-time I try and say more, it comes back to "thank you" and "fantastic". It is so highly customizable that it is a journey every time I use it, As a language learner, it is indispensable. For continued understanding of my primary language, it goes beyond definitions. The 'journey' is because I can start with a word, grow it to an idea and wind up in Wikipedia learning a lot of related information and more, all with a couple of clicks. The speech to text is heaven. So again, Jacob, 'thank you' for 'fantastic'! And thank you for your choice to donate and support 'Against Malaria'.

This extension is amazing. It saves so much time. I have it at the top right side, always open if possible and I can search anything in seconds. I set it to open in background tabs so I can do many searches at the same time. I use it on Chrome and Brave browsers and it always works! What a gem. Thank you!

I love this extension, it works great. I have one suggestion though. To make it optional as to whether to use only one or multiple search engines on the bar at the same time. For instance let's say I have both Google search and Yahoo search on my SearchBar, then I think I should be able to click both Google and Yahoo search and put in my search say it's "where to go square dancing" then both results from both of those engines would both come up at the same time and I think I should be able to choose as many or as little search engines to use simultaneously as I want to. Or I can choose just one search engine if I want. All I suggest is to make that optional.

I've been using it for 6 years, I think... I moved from Windows to Mac and almost forgot that this little tool is a custom Chrome extension. Very helpful (for work), reliable and never caused any troubles. It does it's job so good I may have an addiction to it.

Good chrome extension but i gave it a rating of 4 out of possible 5 because one needs to install it from the chrome web store instead of it being integrated on chrome.

Amazing extension! Just 2 feature suggestions: 1. Option to position SearchBar next to mouse cursor, not only on the screen corners. 2. Add buttons for copying and translating selected text.

A MASSIVE time saver! I love SearchBar! So well made, so though of! I couldn't think of a better way of developing an app for this purpose. SearchBar has been my secret weapon for a while now. I have made a donation to support the developer (jacob H) to help the fight against Malaria. I use hundreds of chrome extensions for research and this is first time I have made the effort to donate to a free app. Great work.

I love it! One feature I wish you had: hide search bar when left clicking on a page. Please give us this option. It really is the easiest way to hide the bar.

An amazing extension. It frees you from the awful Chromium/Chrome search system and sports several features, such as: • Adding custom search engines. • Further customizing added engines, including favicons and search behavior. • Backing up all settings and entire search history. • Several minute settings to tweak within the "Options" tab. • It even accesses Google's suggested search terms! And it's free! =)

I feel "Ask" Could & perhaps Should be a lot easier for persons such as I to utilize (+ User Friendly).

I noticed the Wikipedia button is out of place, I think it depends on the text of the ALT tag "Wikipedia (Alt+W)" that instead of appearing only when hovering is visible above the bar. I deactivacted the button for the moment.

One word: Fantastic. It's hard to know sometimes which Internet browser to stick with, so thank you Jacob for making the decision (sticking with Chrome) easier. PS I just docked a star from my original review, as I was over-hasty in granting a full five stars. It's not that it disappointed me in the last week, just that I like to see how apps & extensions perform in the long term before granting a coveted five stars. No slight intended Jacob and the review will likely get its fifth star back eventually.

for some reason my wikipedia favicon show a broken link image and text... it's really annoying.

I love it and cannot work without the search bar on my Macbook air.

I find this extension great but I find the fact of the bar docks over the pages kind annoying. It would be great if the bar could dock on the same level as the bookmarks bar.

Was tempted to rate as 5 star. I've used it for abt 6 months & I do really like it.

It seems that something is not working right for some time or I'm doing it wrong. Any time I add a new site to search bar and click the button to search on this page - it comes with blank page. I think i'm doing it the right way - right click on search engine input on the site, add to the extension and than I highlight any word on one site to search it on another - I click on the button and there is a blank page.

For every website you visit this extension loads a favicon from google etc. servers and thereby leaks all your visited pages, session ids etc. through the referer.

great thing! i needed an option to keep it appearing where ever i go! in the browser! like a bar! is it possible? also can i have a offline version like an icon on the desktop? where i double click it! and a search bar opens just like this and allows me to search from desktop , it should open tabs in default browser!

it best extension i have in my google thx for it but i give only 4 cuz favicon.ico from most sites not show so only pic from google work the auto favicon.ico 1 from 10 sites auto work other than that it just great and maybe add option to remove dots (.) ... like these from search will be great too :) thx

This search box is so convenient. I really like how it is available to use and hides when you are not using it. I would definitely recommend it.

Although, like others, I would rather have it embedded as a standard toolbar but, I cannot say one thing bad about this extension...It's awesome

I like a search bar I do not like to search in address bar that is why i do not like most browsers that do not have a search bar. I went to delete this browser and found i can add a search bar. love this browser now. thanks

Absolutely brilliant app, works better than Cortana!

Adding custom search engines my main reason for this extension. Other cool features. After being a regular Firefox user for so long, it would be nice to have the option to have the searchbar fixed next to the URL bar. Overall, a great search extension. Very short learning curve.

I really do not want to switch it on and off all the time. I would appreciate an option that it uses the full width and does not overlap parts of the websites. I'm really looking for a search bar which offers this. I'm so used to the old google toolbar that I still have to use Firefox with the Googlebar Lite although I would prefer chrome as my primary browser.

By far the best search extension out there. If you use more the two search engines then you need to try this.

Perfect. By placing the bar at bottom left or right then you can leave it open all the time without obscuring text. This allows single click search to the site of your choice. Easy to add new search engines and configure.

A super helpful extension that I use all the time. Privacy Badger is breaking favicons for some sites. I had to download them and upload them in the settings for each custom search to fix it.

It needs an option to make a search engine default, or to automatically default itself with that of Chrome omnibox default search engine as in Firefox. The non pop-up mode is only functional when java script is enabled.

I want it like firefox where its next to the address bar.

Very helpful, though I'm using it for basic searches and as a stepping stone to deeper queries.

After I lost the universal search tool extension, I was in a panic state until I found this one. This is better! I wish I had known about it earlier.

One of the best search extensions I have ever found. If you browse internet a lot like me, you won't regret installing it. I really like the customization feature of being able to add your own searches and icons, and re-arrange in any order you like. Thank you!!!

All I want is a permanent search bar to always be visible besides the URL bar like in Firefox. I do not understand why this simple feature is so hard to get. Why add the completely unnecessary step that you have to click on a button to make this search bar appear and when you click anywhere else it disappears? Why add more work than needed? It's just pointless.

Its an invaluable tool especially if you are coming over from firefox and used to having the addonbar filled with your search bar

I have been using the extension for a long time.

Not useful at all. (1) when I type in, the auto suggest covers up what I'm typing so I can't tell if I make a typo (2) regardless of the setting, covers up something on the page (3) Used the feature to add a new search site but wouldn't add to bar. Had to manually add them. Then when I go to manually add them there are the ones I tried to add that don't work.
