I continuously receives unwanted ads especially for donations and google is pushing these ads in every video, after creating huge market base, now google is acting like a dictator, many times, I requested that I should n't receive any ads like these.

Useless extension that doesn't do anything except change the type of ads you see. There is literally no point to this, people who think untargeted ads are somehow better than targeted ads are just wrong.

I am not a computer person myself, but dang this helped me out. I am telling all my friends and family about how helpful this tool was to me!

Useful for those who block ads altogether but want to be tracked, but the Browser version still needs to be updated to work with private & secure.

Seems like people are confused concerning what this extensions intended purpose is . I'll keep it simple. You will still receive ads when browsing chrome. However when you opt-in to this extension to prevent chrome from relaying your browsing history into forms of ads. Chrome simply give you randomized ads. Come on people, READ what you are installing, these reviews are beyond concerning

I added this extension to the Chrome browser maybe a year ago. During the last several months, however, I noticed some sites were very slow to load, even failing completely - especially newspaper sites, which are full of ads. I was forced to use other browsers to view these pages easily. It then occurred to me to remove this extension, which I did today. This had an immediately beneficial effect. Several sites I had to view last night in Edge now loaded promptly using Chrome, the difference striking. I then re-added the extension. The same sites still loaded properly. I will repeat these tests having cleared my Chrome cache. However, whatever the result, I'd say the extension is unreliable. I'll end up removing it, to be on the safe side.

Does exactly what it says it does. For those who didn't read the description: - Stops interest-based ads on some of the websites that partner with Google THAT'S IT. They do this with an extension so that it stays even after you clear cookies.

chrome has terrible memory management, and they want to be lazy and make us use this app. im not aware of any entitlement reason for the app to be needed. all of are are singed into google, and they 100% know our d preferences.

It does nothing. I doubt it's even a Google app. Removing from Chrome if I can.

First, I see that this extension was "remotely added by Google". I didn't ask for it! Second - I have to 'enable it' to put in a review when I think it should be enough of a privacy invasion forcing it on me that I should be able to put in a review Third - I enabled it and the overview for it on the extensions page is about "Green Gardening" not even the correct overview for the extension. (If that is supposed to be an example of how it works on a real page, then it doesn't show that either). So much for having an invasive nonproductive extension when they can't even keep their links correct. Fourth - read the fine print - it doesn't promise to block anything really, doesn't stop datascraping. In fact, it makes me wonder if I didn't just give them MORE permission (if that's even possible) to datascrape by installing it. If I choose OPT OUT in privacy settings, why do I need to add anything? If Google can't handle opting out then at least don't have the false promise of doing so in browser settings.

Useful for those who don’t block ads altogether but don’t want to be tracked, but the Firefox version still needs to be updated to work with Firefox Quantum.

Its a waste of your effort. Google couldn't give a 5h1t about those ads that keep popping up all over what you were trying to read. This extension doesn't work. It's a complete waste of energy.

omg people READ, this is NOT ADBLOCK, this is opt out of spying by google (it stops a cookie from keeping track of you when you're on other websites)

THIS IS NOT AN AD BLOCKER!!! It is an advert tracking opt-out plugin. You will still see adverts unless YOU install an AD BLOCKER. Everyone complaining "Oh, this is rubbish, i can still see ads. Bloody Google at it again" etc etc. Learn to read. It clearly says in the description; "Opt out of Google's interest-based ads as you browse the web with Chrome. This extension opts you out of the DoubleClick advertising cookie, which Google uses to show you interest-based ads on partnering websites." Nowhere in there does it say that this is an ad blocker. I really hate how the internet has turned you people into a bunch of ignorant whinge-bags.

Seems very useful. Haven't had time to play with it yet. So far it stops Google from collecting marketing data.

WASTE OF TIME - Do not install this, all it does is stop google collecting marketing data. You'll still see ads, but they won't be targeted at you. IF YOU WANT TO STOP ADS then do what I do. I have three extensions - Ghostery, Disconnect,and AdBlock - between them I can block just about any advert, tracking beacon, and malware the web can throw at me. The only trouble is anti-adblock sites, but there is a script for Tampermonkey that fixes that.

Useless extension. Blocks nothing or less to nothing. I even think, although I can not prove, that it contributes to more adds. I am not able to read newspaper articles without being bombarded by dozens of popups - extremely annoying.

Terrible! Ads change the page URL then block out original page with the ad, even tho opted out of everything. Terrible!!

After last Chrome update, this extension was significantly slowing down the first tab. With this extension disable, the performance was back to normal.

I opted out several days ago, and the targeted ads stopped, with only mainstream ads continuing. This morning, I went to a web site to purchase staples for our copy machine. Now I'm getting ads from THAT website trying to sell me staples. Google should be ashamed for letting their users

I would have to disagree with the people posting negative reviews. GOOGLE IS NOT CLAIMING THAT THIS EXT OPTS YOU OUT OF ALL IBA. ONLY DoubleCookie IN CHROME. yes, they need to do better; yes, the title is misleading, but the fact that they offer this extension should be taken as a sign of good faith. (One, among a sea of signs of bad faith.)

It works. But for you folks who think you shouldn't have ANY ads, combine it with AdBlock+. I hope you realize the ads can be enlightening, and give you ideas about what is going on in the world AND they help pay for our internet experience.

I is almost useless if you are also using webmail that is powered by Yahoo such as any of the ATT companies or use Flickr.

Well I landed here last night when doing a search on my cell phone on how to stop the Google Play store pop up ads. I keep getting those suggestions to download random apps every so often and it's annoying. I don't know how to stop that and I don't know if this extension will help my mobile situation. I didn't have a problem with the desktop ads, just the Google Play ads popping up on my phone.

Just to let everyone know, THIS IS NOT AN ADBLOCKER AND WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE. I was looking through the reviews and almost 90% of them were people thinking that this is an adblocking program. However opt-out does not mean that you want to opt out of ads, it means that you want to opt out of letting google send your browsing data to businesses so they can target ads at you. If you want an adblocker, look up adblock on the web store. I use this program, it is completely free and will remove most advertisements.

You don't exactly know if the process is completed or not. But it should be working to not "sell" my infos.

I came here from opting out from (doubleclick) cookies. YES, it won't opt-out completely. The only thing it does is that it stops doubleclick cookie from tracking your interests and target you. You'll see "less" targeted ads. So, please don't call it a scam. It's all written in the about me page. read, people!

Non-Google ads should be ONLY opt-in. And this Extension should be easier to find, as in offered when Chrome installs. Google sells ads. OK. we know that. We can live with reasonable levels that are for Google. But when my Galaxy 5 screens or my PC screens are pushed full of ad content that will not turn off and that is NOT google-based, there is no excuse. Google has no right to push ad content for other advertisers. So Chrome and Android should support ONLY Google-sources ads, with any others opt-in only.

Google must have "conflated" opting-out with opting-in. How very convenient.

I SELECTED Opt-out from GOOGLE ADS, but it's still running. Causing all types of Problems. ie. Slowing down my Computer, Lagging play back for Videos replay on the CW, Netflix & Comcast... This is a Complete SCAM by Google.. This Extention is an Absolute FRAUD..!

This eliminates ads based on your browning history aka 'interests' via cookies. It explains as much in the overview. So don't be a moron (see below reviews) and assume it is some miracle ad blocker.
