I remembered installing this extension back in 2019, but sadly, it hasnt been updated since then.
garbage, make youtube slower and unusable as videos dont play
Unfortunately broken. Does not play videos anymore
Loved it but appears to no longer work with the latest Chrome update. YouTube videos will not start when enabled but will when disabled.
Installed it primarily for the ability to reverse the order of playlists (everything else would be bonus features) since some channels set them in order of newest-to-oldest and manually remaking them in oldest-to-newest is tedious. This was specifically mentioned as a feature offered by this extension, but I couldn't find it anywhere after installing it. Also, I couldn't get videos to play. Breaking YouTube while it's installed is kind of a deal-breaker.
no longer works
Would be really cool if it worked, but videos stopped playing all together after adding the extension.
endless buffering when enabled, had to uninstall just to get videos to play once more!
Does not work. Do not bother. Just rubbish.
totally broken now
It was a great extension up until about a year ago, when it broke and was never fixed. Still has a handful of useful features, but it's not worth installing anymore.
My complaint about the video not loading or playing has already been stated by many here.
Awful. Nothing works. The autoplay stopper can't be used because it stops the video from playing altogether. The scroll for volume doesn't work. Nothing. Works.
I should say... loved it. But it's broken. Video buffer wheel just goes and goes... this extension broke for me around April 2nd, out of NOWHERE. So if you're confused... yup, this extension is dead and no longer supported.
the extension is officially dead
Doesn't work at all. Can't play any videos. People have been saying it'll be fixed since 2019 and that hasn't happened. The app is dead. Don't bother downloading it
its 2021 and the youtube videos still wont play- you have to refresh.
Needs an update, videos dont start.
For those having issues with videos playing wether "Play video automatically" is enabled or disabled, install the "Stop Youtube Autoplay" Version 1.3, ID: npcghnpganhnghapekiicaeiobnhbbfa. Make sure to click the extension icon and set the switch to ON. Clicking on a YouTube link initially will cause the video not to play. However, when you reload, it will play and any other youtube pages you navigate from this reloaded page will also have the video play. It's not a perfect solution but it's the best one for those who don't want to abandon this extension.
its all great and stuff but comments not showing by themselves and having to click them on every video is a bit annoying and there is no setting to disable that
Extension is now Firefox only and has broken after the recent YouTube update. Autoplay is broken and throws "An error occurred" message causing you to refresh the page each time. It would have been nice not having to go to GitHub, dig through closed bug reports to find that the project was abandoned. Devs don't have time, I won't deny that, but I'm sure one can find 5 minutes to update the chrome web store description.
Developer abandoned the chrome version.
Dev doesn't support chrome
Youtube has changed something in their script which causes videos to not play when using this extension. The developer of this extension has abandoned the Chrome Version of this plugin and is hostile to those who submit bug reports on their Github.
It was great and worked flawlessly until just recently. now I have to refresh the page to play the video (Unless I middle click to open in new tab, cause then it works as expected. For some unknown reason) I would hope for this issue to be resolved soon, cause I really like it otherwise. Edit:Recently found out the dev has moved to firefox only, It was good while it still worked at least...
This used to be (mostly) great. The autoplay feature has always been broken for me (if you don't allow autoplay then video will not play at all .... ever) but the rest of the features worked well. But now it's just more trouble than it's worth. It regularly breaks video playback (you just get a black screen with 'An error occurred' in the playback window and have to refresh the window several times) it also completely breaks the playlist view in the 'Up Next' side panel and causes other problems. It's not had an update in a long time (script version) and the Firefox extension version is utterly useless because it has pretty much no features whatsoever.
keep having this error "An error occurred. Please try again later." every time opening a new video, have to refresh for the video to play.
Playback Issues abound. I like several of the features offered with this extension, several of which are not offered by other youtube overhaul extensions, but several issues may arise when using this extension. I have tested this by disabling my other extensions and isolated this particular extension as the only factor in the issues. This may be due to me using the old [VASTLY superior] youtube layout, but iridium should be programmed to work with the old layout if that is the problem, I'd imagine people using this extension would prefer the old layout. Videos may not play [they may just have the youtube logo and triangle ontop of a black screen with an unplayable video], the video might be stuck loading on a black screen, or every video will start off with a playback error [[An error occured. Please try again later. (Playback ID: X) Learn More]] on a grey screen requiring a refresh of the page for every video watched. Also, it sometimes seems the extension slows down video loading at first, maybe it'll take a few more seconds to stop the loading animation before the video starts, but this is just a light observation, without iridium though is seems to load smoothly and quick. The issues stop entirely after disabling the extension, and I have many other extensions that work perfectly fine together so they are not the problem themselves. The issue (only one at any time) changed for me when disabling and renabling the extension, I recently had constant playback errors on every video, but now after refreshing the extension it can't play the videos. I liked this extension previously, but many issues have plagued it in recent times, so for that reason its probably more trouble than its worth and I'll give it a 2/5, when it works as intended it'd get a 4/5. Also the reverse playlist function is broken, even across all different youtube extensions like improve youtube; it always scrambles and breaks the playlist once it reaches the 21st video, if this is possible to fix [maybe not since its a universal youtube playlist issue] it should be considered. As I was writing this I did get a playback error without iridium, but I will say it seemed to not be nearly as consistent as it was the last two days before messing around with my extensions; this might be from refreshing iridium so it seemed to clean up the playback error issue. The issues are inconsistent now. Still quite sure iridium had something to do with most of the issues. Still a dumpster fire of a once great youtube extension, it just doesn't work well anymore [it once did] at all.
Downloaded for the reverse playlist option, couldn't find the reverse playlist button literally anywhere on the page, and the extension also manages to break the youtube player half the time.
This extension is amazing but for the last few days it hasn't been working with youtube. I keep getting error "An error occurred. Please try again later. (Playback ID: random numbers)" so unfortunately I have to remove it for now since I can't play my videos with this extension. :(
Used to be great, but the author stopped supporting this extension long ago. This really should come with a disclaimer. https://github.com/ParticleCore/Iridium/issues/737
Love it!
Nice extension except the 'Enable reverse playlist control' is not working. Hopefully the developers do something about this.
Used to work well. I used it initially as a replacement for "Reverse YouTube playlist" since the devs left that project like a dead beat dad leaves their son to escape child support. Seems to be the same issue here as well. Reversing Playlists don't work and it's collecting more and more bugs that are getting unresolved. ABANDONWARE. Get Improve YouTube! (Open-Source for YouTube) instead. It actually does something.
Settings don't save. Scroll wheel for volume doesn't work.
Greatest plugin ever for Youtube. Thanks.
No longer supported on Chrome.
I wish I could change the volume of the video without the whole page scrolling down. It should lock the scroll when the mouse in on top of the video and release it when it's outside!
Update the extension please.
Author has moved to development on Firefox, this extension now only causes problems on Chrome because it's not receiving updates.
Abandonware. Long time forgotten extension for chrome.
I love this extension, the only issue I have had was a user error. I thought that the block channel feature was the remove video from watch list when I went to my history. I got confused because they are both an X.
Came back to see if there have been any updates but seems like it was completely abandoned. Used to be great before it broke, videos just don't play with it on.
I really loved this extension, unfortunately the developer will be only focusing on the Firefox extension from now on: https://github.com/ParticleCore/Iridium/issues/737 "Some of you might not have noticed (insert the biggest sarcasm face here) but I haven't been able to maintain this extension for a while and this is a choice I made as a result of no longer having enough free time as I did once before. However, I never gave up on this extension and have recently been slowly (OK, maybe EXTREMELY slowly) experimenting better ways to keep this easier for me to keep developing and maintaining and I've reached a decision that will leave a lot of users upset - me included - but it's a change that has to be done as a result of my very limited to non-existent free time. The extension will become a Firefox webextension only in the next version, this means no more userscripts and no more Chrome extension. Not because I want to exclude those platforms, but because they lack a very important extension API that only Firefox has at the moment, that api being filterResponseData. What this API allows is the modification of any resource before it is loaded in the user's browser. This has a huge advantage over what I've been doing so far because unlike my past methods I no longer have to rely on finding "holes" in the YouTube source code in order to manipulate the page navigation, player behavior, etc. With this API I can easily modify the source code directly in any way I desire which cuts down a lot of headache and time spent with the previous method (there were times where it would take me one month just to make one feature work again). Unfortunately this API only exists in Firefox. Chrome never adopted it - I believe they tried but it's very buggy and has been left forgotten since their first attempt - and userscript managers would need to expand or implement this permission in their framework. I'm going to request them to implement this, I know Tampermonkey is already trialing webRequest, which the API I need is a subset of, so it might be possible in the future to extend support to userscript as well, but no promises since it depends entirely on the developers' decision. I've been focusing on the bad news mostly so far to get those out of the way, so now is time for the good news. As I explained, the biggest one - for me of course - will be the significant reduction in developing and maintaining code that is subject to YouTube changes in their source code The other big one is Iridium will be able to implement the video download feature since it will no longer be distributed as a Chrome extension. However, this will be a simple feature, there will be no video packaging/conversion, no encoding whatsoever, the feature will let the user save locally the stream files YouTube provides, nothing more. These include video (without audio), audio and video thumbnail when available Iridium will be lighter since it will be taking advantage of more advanced features that are native to the browser and will be smaller in size (hey, every kb counts in today's day and age) I plan to jump the major version to 1 and restart the rest, so this change will be released on version 1.0.0 and I'm going to leave the major version 0 just for any-scenario sake such as backporting something to previous versions, if it ever happens. I thought I had more to write, but I've been staring at this draft for more than 10 minutes and I can't recall anything else. I'll probably remember after posting as usual, but if that's the case I'll update this with the relevant information. As always I am very sorry that it has been taking this long, but as I always explained I couldn't put this over my professional life unless this was a reliable source of income. I thank everyone that has been sticking around - even though the extension barely works - and more importantly to those that have been trying to help other users in this repository."
Okay so yes, the Autoplay feature is not working, that part is true, but even then it's not a complete deal breaker. In fact, I'm absolutely astonished at how much control over YouTube that this extension gives you. From being able to change the functionality of clicking on the Main YouTube Icon or a Users Icon and/or channel link to being able to block channels recommended to you regardless of what the broken algorithm says. Not only that, but being able to take direct screenshots from videos, having videos still be seen while scrolling down through the comments section (which by the way you can have blocked through this extension as well) and creating popups for videos so you can take a look at them while still browsing the site or doing other things is extra functionality that I really liked.
DOESNT WORK - youtube videos simply WILL NOT play with this plug-in enabled, regardless of what settings are used. You fix that and then I can give it a proper test and review.
Is there a way to actually get ads to work??? Enabling all ads or only ads on subscribed channels doesn't work, and I have my normal adblocker paused on youtube. I love this extension and at this point am so used to using its features that I don't think I'll ever have the will to uninstall it, but It'd be nice to support the people I'm subbed to!!!!!!
A great alternative to some of the other add-ons built for YouTube. Especially for open source enthusiasts. It replaces practically all usable functionality from add-ons which use a freemium model. I originally got it simply to change the default video quality but have come to rely on it to change my overall experience on the website. The only thing I've occasionally missed is that I would like to be able to change default play speed along with quality. Being able to change quality and playback speed from the extensions toolbar would also be great. I hope that they can improve the add-on in future but for now I love using it and haven't experienced any serious problems while using it.
Doesn't work. Video doesn't load.
I used to use this for reversing my youtube playlists. Was a great Youtube addon, no longer works properly and glitchy as hell. The devs also put this addon on pause, so hell, while you wait. Howabout uninstall this trash and re-install an addon with a reverse playlist feature that actually works. Download, Improve Youtube Open-Source instead. It actually does something, unlike this rubbish. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/improve-youtube-open-sour/bnomihfieiccainjcjblhegjgglakjdd?hl=en
I got this extension for the reverse playlist, I don't know when it stopped working, but the option no longer shows up on playlists.
Change volume using mouse wheel is broken, it scrolls the window while changing the volume. Also, it doesn't have a visual queue when it changes the volume.
Got it only to reverse playlists. That feature doesn't work. It isn't even there.
TL;DR: ⭐⭐⭐ - Used to be amazing, a must-have, sadly it's now buggy with many broken features, plus the author is MIA. ??????? used to work perfectly and was an essential extension, sadly it now has dozens of bugs and broken features all of which have gone unaddressed in the open ?????? support page on GitHub, the author is either taking a break from development or isn't fixing any issues until he experiences them himself. Don't get me wrong it's still a handy extension for some things and I am and always will be extremely grateful to the author, but many of the features are now broken or buggy and temperamental at best on both Chrome and Firefox. ???? ?? ???? ??? ?????? ???????? ?'? ?????????? ????????????: • "????? ??? ???? ?? ?????? ?? ?????? ????????" - simply doesn't work any more. I've tried with and without an Adblock extension, with no other extensions installed, multiple different channels and videos but ads only appear once this option is unticked which mean you see ads on ??? videos. • "??????? ????? ???????" - randomly and constantly resets to 4k no matter what I set it to. Also, this setting only works on the first video in a playlist, all other videos in that playlist will have the playback quality controlled by YouTube. • "????? ??? (60???) ???????" - when unticked (force 30fps only) it works most of the time but would occasionally allow 60fps streams to play. F5 (clear cache/refresh) fixes it. • "???????" - the extension itself sometimes doesn't load when opening YouTube, closing the tab/page/browser then navigating back to YouTube fixes it but weirdly F5/refresh doesn't. • "???? ?????? ?????????????" - again, seemingly random and unrepeatable it stops working and doesn't auto play videos. ???? ?? ???? ??? ?????? ???????? ????? ???? ???????? ?? ??? ?????? ??????? ????: • "?? ????? ???????? ?? ???" - many users seem to have an issue that no videos will play at all when Iridium is installed and enabled. • "???? ?????? ?? ???????? ??? ??????????" - many open tickets due to this feature either not work or being buggy. • "???????? ??????? ??? ???????" - few reports this no longer works or appears. • "?????? ?????? ????? ??? ????? ?????" - broken because of a feature update by YouTube. And more... My advice is to give it a try, see if it works for you, maybe it will work fine or maybe it won't, but if it doesn't work I wouldn't waste your time reporting it or asking for help as the author is MIA.
The X button on thumbnails for blacklisting channels doesn't work.
DON'T GET THIS EXTENSION Dev has abandoned and stopped working on this; issues are piling up in github repo get Enhancer for Youtube instead
Loved it when it worked. Decided to uninstall today and move on. Currently using Enhancer a long with a ton of other people.
Downloaded this purely to reverse playlists since the youtube reverse playlist extension no longer works. There's the three dots thing on the playlist menu but when I click it it does nothing.
No longer works, stops videos from loading at all.
I really liked this extension. It made Youtube tons better, but starting just this evening, something is causing Iridium to hide my Youtube suggestions. There will be a brief loading circle, but then nothign happens and the suggestion area next to the video stays blank.
Was a great extension, but now it basically just stops any video from playing if it's enabled.
I love everything the extension adds but there's currently a bug that replaces the loop and shuffle buttons in a playlist with an "more options" 3 dots button that does nothing when clicked meaning you have to go to the playlist directly to set it on shuffle instead of doing it from a video. It's a bit annoying and I hope it gets fixed soon. Five stars otherwise! Keep up the good work.
No longer works, it broke youtube, videos are unable to play and there is no update nor communication from the author.
Let me preface this by saying that I love this extension. Now you might be thinking, why only 2 stars? Well, it's broken - and the best features of this extension don't work. Whenever I'm watching a playlist I either want to reverse the chronological order (so I get to watch from oldest to latest video) or I shuffle and repeat (if it's a songs-only playlist). Now neither of them work. Yes, I know it's free but so is this review; I'm a nobody who just happens to use this extension. I'm not saying don't get it ever, but until those issues are fixed, why download this? I still have it installed in hopes it'll get fixed in another update. Definitely worth more stars if issues were fixed. Advanced thanks, guys.
I had to uninstall it due to it not letting me Loop or Shuffle my Youtube playlists
When I turn off feature "Play videos automatically". Video can't press to play, please check to fix this
Stopping autoplay hasn't been working since January. It seems its development stopped for good. I hope YouTube won't roll out any bigger change until somebody else makes a plugin like this.
Had a great run up until now, when the main reason I used this was for the reverse playlist. The feature is now blocked by a 3 dot thing and when I click it, nothing happens. Literally nothing happens.
I used to love this app. It was very helpful for things like playlist reversals and i never had any problems. Until this morning. sometime in the night, it glitched and now I am unable to loop or shuffle playlists (functions YouTube comes with). instead i get 3 dots which i can click but nothing happens. I haven't noticed anything else but for now, since it no longer does what i need it too, i'll have to remove it.
Scroll to change volume is also scrolling the page Otherwise its working great
Now when I try to scroll my mouse wheel down to turn down the volume, the whole YouTube page scrolls down too. Even in full screen mode. What the hell. Fix it.
It's good, but there's sadly no dark theme for the old youtube layout, which I am still using this day. The only reason I still prefer Magic Actions is the dark theme. It'd be nice if this could be added, though!
Can you add a repeat functionality? thanks
Tried it specifically for the blacklist functionality... hitting the "edit" button to add names to the list brings up a blank box that I couldn't type in. "Import" allowed me to type things in, but gave me a syntax error when I tried to save the changes. In short, I couldn't use the only feature I actually wanted. Googled for similar issues, but the only results I found were supposedly fixed or the user tried something different that didn't work for me. Since development appears to be on hold, I'm uninstalling.
Very customizable. I have not run into any issues. I would highly recommend.
Everything is working fine with my settings, love all the extra functions beyond reverse playlist that I installed the extension for.
No youtube videos would load until I enabled 'Play videos automatically'. 'Change volume using mouse wheel' function does not work and doesn't stay enabled.
Ver nice
There's an issue with auto-play that needs to be fixed after a Youtube update. The developer has said he will fix it when he has time in the near future so everyone needs to be patient. As soon as it's fixed I will be making a donation and I suggest others do as well if they wan't this extension to stay alive.
I am having issues with Video playback and would love to help find the cause of it. Can anyone help me out?
For others with the recent issues, the video won't buffer. If you refresh 1-3 times, it'll load. It's a temp fix until the dev can fix it. A lot of people are complaining but remember this stuff is free and don't expect immediate resolutions because you're not a paying customer and aren't entitled to it. Another options is to disable iridium and use AutoPlayStopper extension which will prevent videos from auto playing. You lose a few of iridiums useful features, but choose the lesser evil.
I installed this for the reverse playlist option. What I got. The reverse playlist option with an added bonus, that it breaks the YouTube player and keeps any and all videos in a playlist from actually playing or going to the next video. 10/10 would uninstall again.
I have been using this extension for so long, and have always loved it, but lately it is starting to act up, videos do not play, pop ups do not work, no sound when mouse-over on thumbnails, videos do not keep playing when go back. I re-installed it many times but no luck, cleared my browser cache, but nothing; hope that I am not the only one who is facing these issues and it will be resolved soon.
what is going on with iridium?? it was a great software now it stops videos from buffering. they have also removed the feature to still watch videos while moving pages, and then there was a glitch later where the audio kept playing. then they removed it. now i can't buffer videos? i'm sorry iridium, this is unacceptable.
Overall my alternative from MagicActions and i loved it so far but today something broke. The Video doesnt want to load correct und i have to refresh the page1-3 times to load the Video (disabled the Extension and all works fine again). Pls fix asap
Used to be amazing, recently the setting to stop videos from playing automatically stopped working, and now it completely keeps the video from starting at all. Turned the setting off and everything works fine again.
I switched from a different extension to this one because I hate the autoplay feature. Recently autoplay has returned. I hope this gets fixed in the extension soon because it is the one reason I chose Iridium over the original extension I used.
The reverse playlist feature is amazing. This is a really great extension all around and the features are implemented seamlessly as if they were native YouTube features. I'm using Opera and this extension works flawlessly. Well done.
It's pretty good, save from the fact that you can't have continuous playback in fullscreen, either with playlists or with auto play. Wanna watch multiple videos in a row on fullscreen? Too bad, you need to manually re-fullscreen every time the video changes.
The 'stop auto-play' feature does not work anymore. Hope it will be fixed soon
has reversing playlist and everything else
Added it for the reverse playlist feature. This saved my day. Just install it, reload the playlist and hit the new button in the playlist's menu.
Autoplay started up again a few days ago. I've always disliked this feature and one of the main reasons I started to use Iridium. Hope this gets fixed soon.
Works great!
Frequently, but not always, videos fail to autoplay when the autoplay option is enabled, and do autoplay when the autoplay option is disabled. It's maddening.
It works on one PC and not the other, both using the same version of Chrome. I like the features, especially being able to reverse a playlist. I hope I can figure out why it only works on one PC.
Great extension. Makes Youtube much more functional! :)
This is the best extension for the new youtube design. So many options to customize!!
It's great.. ..If the darn settings don't revert back to default all the time
Really makes youtube pages look ugly with those thumbnails. Thumbnails aren't meant to be blown up to full player size and the extension makes youtube pages look worse for this reason. I'd rather see the first frame of the video, paused. Forcing high quality thumbnails doesn't do anything because most content creators don't bother uploading 1080 thumbnails. They're called thumbnails for a reason, folks.
Well I no longer need youtube + script
When you go back and the video keeps playing in the corner, restoring the video does nothing. And closing the player doesn't stop the video. The only way to make it stop is to play another video. This bug takes the score down from 5 to 3.
