This product does not fulfill its purpose, when I try to select a different audio output device, nothing happens and it just resets to the default one, I use Windows 10. IT DOES NOT WORK.
Doesn't work
10/2022 This does not work, I've followed all the recoms but no luck in getting it to work.
As of August 2022, this works on most browsers that run on Chromium and are able to use chrome extensions. Works very well, the only thing I wish is to not have to re-select the audio source output every time the tab reloads or the URL changes, it would be more ideal of the extension worked on a per site basis instead of on individual tabs or give us the option to pick either. For those having issues, you have to go to the extension options and select "allow access to all sites". Then you have to go to the URL bar and click on the lock icon on the bar and "allow access to Microphone".
i bought Bluetooth adapter for my pc and when i connect it doesn't work on chrome (the device) this helps me to make it work
Wish it worked, but it didn't. I followed the extra steps, and still nothing. Maybe it isn't compatible with Brave?
Works as intended after allowing microphone access.
@Aurore Central "This can be fixed by clicking on the lock icon beside the url > Site settings > Microphone > 'Allow' and refreshing the page. The extension must have access to all sites as well." works perfectly thanks to this guy. top man o7
Amazing idea, but it doesn't work. :( 2019 mac pro running Catalina
Does not appear to work - will click on a radio button, it will briefly jump to it and then jump back and the pop-up closes with no change.
No longer functions as of Jan, 2022
It hasn't worked on windows 10 for a long time, it does nothing anymore
doesn't work on Brave in Linux
Not sure what is wrong, but doesn't do anything for me, it just jumps back to the default audio device when I pick any output. I'm using latest version of Chrome on Windows 11.
Didn't work for me at all on macOs Monterey while using Opera browser. Extension showed every possible output, but didn't do anything while changing them.
this extension is awesom but doesnt work on windows 11
does not work... literally plays every tabs sound through the same source regardless of what I've selected... even tried updating my chrome version... did nothing... this is a useful a fidget spinner... tried it with twitch, youtube, netflix, discord... DID NOTHING
Changing device did nothing at first but then I followed the microphone trick explained in this comment and now it works: https://github.com/rain-fighters/AudioPick/issues/36#issuecomment-632015099 Chrome 93.0.4577.63 Fedora Linux 34 (Wayland)
Great extension. Although upon installation it was not working properly. I was able to resolve this issue by: 1. Ensuring the AudioPick's site access permissions are set to "on all sites". 2. Then click the lock next to the websites URL and change microphone access to allow. If after doing all of this the extension still is not working properly: 3. Check your operating systems advanced sound options and make sure google chrome's output device is set to Default. It seems if you have google chrome assigned to a specific device via windows the OS will overwrite it and still play audio through the OS assigned device. I hope this helps anyone having issues with this extension.
Good, awesome, almost perfect! It will be nice: implement inheritance of the custom output to another tabs opened from the customed
it didnt work for me i select my output and it goes back to the default one
Works just fine, just need to hit the 'lock icon' next to your URL and allow your microphone for some reason...
I think it worked for some people, but as of May 29, 2021, it didn't work for me. As I select another device in the options displayed, the sound maintains as the default option I'm currently using.
Hello! As of May 24, 2021, I installed this extension. At first, it didn't worked so I uninstalled it immediately but I found a solution. Go to your chrome's settings > privacy and security > site settings and click on the site you want to modify the audio output, let's say youtube for example. After that, you'll see a lot of permissions listed, scroll down and look for Sound change Automatic(default) to Allow. After that, refresh youtube and you can finally use AudioPick. I am currently playing a youtube video and I was able to play the audio to my TV and second monitor, both connected to my laptop. The audio for each youtube video tabs are independent as well. If I'm playing the first youtube video's audio to my TV, the second youtube video's audio will play automatically to my laptop since it's the default device until I choose to play it somewhere else with AudioPick. I hope this will help because this extension is helping me today. Thank you so much for the developer! Being a developer is not easy.. Thank you!
Doesn't work when trying to get audio through hdmi to a TV.
Absolutely Fantastic! Must have if you use any interfaces to route audio. Works perfectly and is super quick.
I had high hopes for this extension but after much tinkering around I gave up. It just won't work for me. Oh well. This kind of functionality should really be built into modern-day browsers given the increasing focus on web apps.
2021 not work
Love the idea but it doesnt work on my browser.
it does not work for mac os 10.15.7 (up to date at the time of this review). everytime i choose a different output, it reverts to a default output.
had it for a few years now and love it thank you
This plugin is super useful! I've been using it since it was in newly published. But it is so sad that it has stopped working. RIP such a great service for so many years!
so yeah 3 stars... before i am using this so fineeeeeeeee... but now its not working on youtube.facebook etc etc... please dev. make an update for it it helps me a lot btw i am using windows 10 pro.. after i reformat my pc it turned out like that
It works, but need some configurations first: https://github.com/rain-fighters/AudioPick/issues/36#issuecomment-632015099 Edit: I would suggest you to use "AudioXout" instead because this extension has been abandoned for several years. Don't forget to follow the configuration step above for that extension to work properly.
doesn't work
I play a game that cannot be swapped off default sound. I was hoping to get youtube and netflix going on speakers while game is in my headphones. This app did not work even after restart. oh well...
Doesn't work anymore sadly.
Sadly no longer works.
Nov.2020 Not working anymore
Didn't work
The settings where audio devices should be listed shows only a single radio button without any label. No audio device can be selected, the extension does nothing, and is completely useless.
It's not working from last 3 to 4 month.. what happened.. is just for me or for all ?? please let me know is their any update going to come ??
For anyone that is still messing around with this on PC windows 10,and just wants to separate different programs to various outputs, like musics to speakers and games to headphones, i am embarrassed to say i only just discovered this is possible in Windows 10. https://www.howtogeek.com/352787/how-to-set-per-app-sound-outputs-in-windows-10/ The Audio Pick app wont work due to some updates on chrome.
it doesn't work. why is this on the chrome web store if it doesn't work
Used to always work - after recent Chrome updates it stopped working. Need to go to site settings and need to allow mic setting for the site you want to route audio for.
It does not work. Tested with multiple sites that generate audio.
So good
Does not work, after browser restart it resets to system default.
its great when it works, I had to disable my PIA extension to get it to work, any extension that disables your microphone stops the app from working for what ever reason
Didn't work for me on MacOS... It shows the different devices but selecting them does nothing unfortunately..
Simply doesn't work on any site I've tried it. You pick a different device and nothing happens, it still plays on the old/default one.
Does not work on brand new PC with chrome.
###BUG FIX### if audio pick stopped working try this fix that worked for me -settings in chrome -go to privacy and settings section -click site settings -go to youtube and look for the sound option -set the sound option to allow
why its not working for me anymore? is there any other app who does it?
absolutely the worst extension I've installed on chrome, Been troubleshooting for 1 hour and still can't get it to work. DO NOT INSTALL THIS.
Stopped working for me, but as Gareth wrote, if you explicitly allow using microphone for the site in Site settings (even though it never asked for it), after reload it works again!
Used to be great but hasn't worked in several months
Only worked after granting access to the MIC setting
Great App to switch audio separately directly on Chrome. Thanks!
Spotify never worked. Now it is completely broken and always uses system default device. useless ...
Works in regular Chrome, but not Chrome Beta, all settings are the same, tried restarting, no dice.
Awesome idea, but doesn't seem to work. When I try to select a different audio device for the tab I'm viewing, nothing happens. It just stays on the default device. EDIT: Nevermind, just had to refresh the YouTube page. Works great now.
it works fine with the virtual audio cable asio ver, which can route chrome's audio into a daw that using asio
Chrome update has broken this extension and no longer changes the audio output when you pick your new output. I've tried reinstalling the extension and reinstalling chrome.
Works like a charm
Sweet extension!! My PC is my entertainment center connected via digital to the TV which is connected optically to the DTS sound system, and this extension immediately allowed me to switch the media I was watching on Chrome from the PC to the optical sound system instead of the PC speakers. Thank you for this awesome and well created piece of code. :)
Works Perfectly! Exactly what I needed.. I can put songs to my daughter and at the same time hear my classes through my headphones!
This is by far the best extension I've come by in the recent years! I would give it 10 stars if I could. P.S. It no longer works with for YouTube/Twitch and a TV connected via HDMI.
it does do exactly what it says and it works. however the chrome default device is still engaged even after i switched the sound from the tab to a different device...... i think its more like chrome problem now...... also the sound setting in windows10 doesnt always work (assign program to different device)
Completely Pointless since it doesn't work on google sites. Can't use it to switch to headset when using hangouts so what's the point?
It works exactly as I need. Thanks
i cannot live without this extension, adds a feature that should be available on all browsers.
Let's me play audio / video in Chromium while Jack is running. Super helpful! Thanks.
I am an internet broadcaster who pushes audio routing to the limit. This little plug in is fantastic! Good job. It scratches a major itch I had when it comes to routing audio. Thanks!
worked for what i wanted
REALLY GOOD APP! does what it says and it solved my issue of not being able to split the audio from Chrome! so ty!
Okay, Right click on the Icon, go to settings and there you can REALLY change the audio output... Wasn't it obvious?! XD
At first, I thought it didn't work and I got really mad. I tried it with already open tabs, and it didn't work. It seemed that it worked perfectly with new tabs and it filtered my audio where I wanted. I am so happy it works. Thanks for making such an useful ap. Keep up the good work!
This hardly even works. It keeps outputting to the wrong device. I constantly have to change the device back and forth to get it to work, and then 50% of the time it works for one episode, song or whatever. The other 50% of the time it just crashes the webpage.
I've been waiting something like 15 years for a browser to be able to output to a device other than the system default. Every time I looked the only answer I found was that browsers didn't have the capability to output to different devices so even extensions couldn't achieve what I wanted. It seems that was either incorrect or it was added. Whatever the reason, this extension works amazingly. I was even more shocked that I could have 2 tabs outputting to two different audio devices simultaneously. Great work! Thank you so very much! Note to people that use this: Another useful program I've found is called Sound Lock by 3APPES Ltd. which is "a sound output level limiter for your PC which works with Windows Vista or higher." It will automatically adjust volume of any specific audio device to not go above a manually set threshold. It's especially good for movies with loud explosions and quiet dialog. Just set the threshold just above the speech level and it will dampen anything louder.
Excellent, routes audio to my second monitor
Absolutely love it! I use it with VB-Audio Virtual Audio Cable and VoiceMeeter Banana so that I can play music etc. to my friends without them hearing everything else on my PC.
This is the perfect example of an extension that does what it's supposed to do and does it extremely well. For example: I can set kids' youtube browser window (on secondary monitor) to play on speakers, while I can listen to anything I want on my headphones. Both streams will keep their respective audio devices as well as long as the pages are open. Thank you!
Doesn't work, can't select anything but default option.
It's not working in Chromium. I try to click on an audio device, and the drop down menu vanishes... and it goes back to the default device
simply amazing ...ive been looking for this for ages...
Solved a very annoying issue I was having. 5/5 does exactly as it says.
Works GREAT on Twitch, super easy to use. Perfect for when I want to put a stream on the second monitor going to the Home Theater but still be able to use the default speakers or my headset for a game or something. Spatial sound derped out at first, but was easily fixed with a reboot. Thanks!
Very Good. This is the best...
works very well, zero problems and works with what i intended to do with it
Doesn't work. I click the extension icon, pick a device, and nothing happens - if I click the icon again, the default device is still selected, not the one I picked.
This extension is a life saver for me. I used to rely on Audio Router to reroute Chrome's audio out to my TV without changing my primary sound driver so I could watch a stream on my TV with the sound coming out the TV too, but keep other applications still using my desktop 5.1 surround set. Well something Google did broke this program from working because Chrome crashes immediately after rerouting audio. Not anymore. Now with this extension, everything works exactly as it used to but even better because now I don't need to run another program, I just use the extension and it's super easy to use. Just open the tab, start the stream and set the extension to use whatever sound output device you wish and voila. This is a 10/10 piece of software. Thank you for releasing it for us to enjoy.
I wish the audio device selected would be persistent. Every time I plug in a monitor or headphones to my laptop this extension chooses the newest output as the default and I have to go back and reselect my TV. I also wish this were available on other browsers because I literally can't find another way to do what this does and Chrome has gone downhill.
Fabulous! Now I can watch youtube with headphones on PC, when my girlfriend watching series on secondary TV screen.
!!!A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! I'D GIVE IT 10 STARS
Does what it says! love it! I can put cartoons on for my kids while I'm working on my computer! love it!
Works great, you just gotta make sure that the website has access to your microphone
It works as advertised, I can choose where Youtube plays from (and probably other sites- but let's face it, people would get this for Youtube).
Thank you very Muchhhhh for solving my problem
Perfect, simple to use. Output audio to different devices per tab. Thanks.
DOesn't work. Select option, but nothing changes.
