Good extension, bad attitude by developer. I love his excuse that he has a family so he doesn't have time to maintain it. Like he's special and no other developer who offers a free extension has his kind of problems? Lol. Anyway, there are no instructions how to use. Extension is destructive in many ways.Create another profile as a backup? Yeah, we're going to take advice from some random NZ lover. Manifest 2 warning message that extension will be no longer supported in Chrome in 2023. Most positive reviews are either from bots, those who haven't noticed the issues mentioned, or fanboys/friends of the developer. I say, good riddance dude.

Easy and simple to use. Very fast

To ALL of those complaining: You need to read and understand what this extension is doing. It's fairly straight-forward to those with standard PC knowledge. If you don't trust yourself or the extension and would like to test it first, then assure that you have a backup by exporting your bookmarks first. Then you can create a second Chrome profile and import your backed up bookmark file into that profile. Then have at it. Make a mistake? So what. Learn what it does and then when you're comfortable with it, do it properly on your actual profile. This extension saved me hundreds of hours of work! 74,500 links down to less than 16,000 in 45 mins. Life-Saver !!

Confusing.. and I see that I'm not alone on that. Very fast. Easy to delete empty folders. But when it came to choosing between duplicates, the removal process is unclear.

Could someone tell me what to do after I select the bookmarks I want to keep? How do I get rid of the duplicates?

Wasted half an hour selecting links in 'Custom' mode, only to find there is no 'save' or 'apply' button.

This one is the best of many good extensions I have tried (supersorter, bookmarks dupes, clean up, etc.). It tackles all possible scenarios and gives you the least work afterwords.

Fantastic. I was almost giving up on my chrome bookmarks.... For years was trying to clean up the bookmarks. The chrome bookmarks manager was crashing all the time. The FBS came to saving me. My PC was with 142,000 links and 9491 folders and finished with 5,700 links and 798 folders using the FBS. The easier process is the follow the order: 1) Duplicate Links (same folder) 2 ) Duplicate folders (same folder) 3) All empty folders 4) Duplicate Links (all folders) 5) Duplicate Folders (all folders). Finally the chrome bookmarks manager is working now. Thank you for creating a great tool.

seems to be okay, but why is it not available anymore? One problem, it DOES NOT distinguish root folder paths between BOOKMARKS and OTHER BOOKMARKS, and I have to click on the path to double check to make sure I am not deleting the URL I want. This is NOT PRODUCTIVE. IE: you have two folders named COMPUTER, one in each, and it doesn't show you the root name, YET you want to delete all dups in the OTHER BOOKMARKS section-- how do you know which is which? Instead of giving you Bookmarks/computer and Other Bookmarks/computer Instead It gives you computer and computer .. Thus if you have 100 dups, you have to click on the path of all them just to check which location it takes you to, just to be sure I am not deleting the wrong one. Other than that, it is a good program. I had to put everything in a single folder, lets say OTHER is the name or some number, and move all them into it temporarily, so it would show up and then I knew I could tell they were in the OTHER BOOKMARKS folder to delete them.

Deleted ALL my folders Im hoping I just did something wrong, but luckily I did backup ... but after using this ALL my folders were gone Hundreds of them!!!

This extension rocks, however , it has become less robust over the last few years. Also desperately needs to have dark option please! Thank you for your hard work in creating this app.

Best tool to remove duplicate bookmarks.

Scans did run in a resonable time (~5mins) but all attempts to execute any of the provided commands put Chrome in the non-responsive state and require the manual task termination. Simply does not work. Very unfortunate. I wish Google has provided a tool to clean its accumulated mess.

DO NOT USE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally destroyed my folder structure!! I now have hundreds of files no longer in the original folders. They are either in the Links folder or of 2 of the 6 main folders I originally had for the merge remove 4 of my 6 original folders. I now have hundreds of folders no longer sub-foldered or in the wrong folder with sub-sub-sub-sub-etc folders. Absolute disaster!!!!! I have Bookmarks bar and Links folder in 3 locations; on the Chrome ribbon, Other Bookmarks, and Mobile Bookmarks. The scan and custom merge did't indicate which location the duplicates were situated in. I have no idea where they were or weren't deleted or moved. HORROR!!!!!

I'd buy this if it worked. It seems when it comes to "custom" you have to keep one. I don't want to keep one. We'll see if I can delete manually and keep them deleted. Bookmarks are like roaches. I may have to give up on chrome as I cant take this anymore. I've tried other bookmark "managers" too and they are no better. I'll re-rate this if I see an improvement.

I'm not sure what people are talking about that this doesn't work. My bookmark manage had made a mess of my folders (Another extensions) and FBS II cleaned it all up with minimum effort. It handled my 69K+ goof, and was able to clean it up in about 15 minutes. Thanks for the new cleaner UI and the great functionality.

Poorly designed tool. See the Firefox add-on "Bookmark Dupes" for a well designed one. One of many deficiencies: It needs the feature of marking only the latest or earliest bookmark in each set of duplicates. I could continue, but basically I want "Bookmark Dupes" features for a Chrome extension.

Does what it says it is supposed to do - period.

Very useful tool

While previous versions of this were much less user friendly, they had a critical benefit...they worked. The nice comic-sans version of this tool has consistently moved bookmarks randomly between folders that have nothing to do with each other, deleted bookmarks that were not duplicated elsewhere, and removed whole folders as empty after it arbitrarily moved all the bookmarks out of them to some unrelated alternate location. Chrome constantly duplicates all my bookmark folders, so it should be a simple matter of properly detecting identical links, cleaning them, and merging duplicated folders. Instead I end up with almost everything arbitrarily in the deepest nested folder, and that folder moved into some other unrelated folder.

All my bookmarks got wiped out when all I wanted was to merge some folders.

I was looking for a way to manage my enormous and sometimes outdated collection of bookmarks. It did a decent job scanning and finding duplicates, but the process of elmininating them is basically just manual. That kind of defeats at least part of the purpose. And I lack the option to scan for dead links. Overall, it helps out somewhat, but could be more streamlined.

Sty away from this extension. All my bookmarks were trippled so I was hoping this ext could fix it, thank go I made a backup. It delete 2000 bookmarks of mine that I have been putting together. Not just that, the one that were left behind, are completely disorganized and all in the wrong folders. This is a joke!

It removed all my folders from my bookmarks, dumping 1000s of links in three folders. Avoid.!

If you ever exported bookmarks from one tool to another, you may know the browser bookmark hell that is "Imported Bookmarks"! Eliminate hours of manual shuffling of links! Great Tool and savior of the organized world! Consider adding search for dead links (navigate each link and mark all dead links for deletion) (

*** FBS II IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS *** I have thousands of bookmarks and used this app to merge them, eliminate duplicates, and delete empty folders. After performing those actions, I found them completely disorganized or missing. Hundreds of completely unrelated survivors ended up in random locations. In short, FBS II should be considered a virus. If you become intoxicated enough to give this app a try, have the designated driver tie your hands while he makes a copy of "C:\Users\<account>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\bookmarks" before permitting you to press a button. After sobering up and witnessing the "Oh the humanity" devastation, buy that guy a steak dinner.

Hi , I just buy it and didn't see any difference , I would like to remote all duplicate links [All Folders ] at once. Is there any way to apply this ? Thanks

This was a 5 star but now you have to manually remove duplicate links existing in different folders one by one. It kind of defeats the original purpose I used the plugin for in the first place.

the latest regression which forces the manual deletion and merging of duplicate bookmarks and folders, makes this addon counterproductive. This used to be the best addon for cleaning your bookmark collection but after the new changes, I wouldnt recommend it to anyone who is a heavy bookmarks user. I hope the developer will bring back the old function, at least as an extra option, but until then 1/5 stars from me. really shame.

It's a life saver. Between machine rebuilds and re-imports, I got over a thousand duplicate bookmarks. Now all duplicates are gone. Thanks!

Can't live without this! Especially for my ADD side :)

Works with basic functionality. Runs quickly. Great price. Needs a feature to delete bookmarks when you don't want to keep either duplicate. Currently, you have to save at least one and then go delete it.

Fast & thorough, all current bookmarks and bookmarks bar remained in place.

what an awesome tool, I couldn't take the duplicates I had over copying bookmarks from my diff browsers. This changed all of that and fixed my issues!

at the time of writing it worked and found a few duplicates. no troubles like some other poor people on here.

It works. It's intuitive to use!

Absolutely DO NOT use this tool! It wiped out nearly my entire catalog of bookmarks! I ran it once and it completed its task, but then I ran it again after still seeing some duplicates. The tool found and "cleaned" more duplicates. I then ran it a third time and it continued to find more purported duplicates and cleaned them too. In the end, nearly all of my bookmarks were gone. It doesn't appear to be able to identify exact duplicates and instead deletes everything beyond the basic URL of a site. It also erroneously wiped out what it claimed were empty folders but were not. Fortunately I had a Carbonite back-up and was able to retrieve my bookmark file from a couple of weeks ago. In it's current form this tool needs re-tooling immediately!

Don't use this tool. It does not work and only destroys your bookmark collection. Unfortunately I had CHROME Syncing turned on and now also my other devices have a messed up bookmark collection. Very frustrating!

I was initially very pleased with this extension as I had 261,000+ bookmarks, most of which were a result of years of syncing between multiple devices and new PC's. Every time I spent hours deleting them manually they would just reappear but this seemed to work so well I actually made a payment to the developer. I ended up with a list of unique folders with unique content but after some were restored (presumably by iCloud before I found out how to delete those ones at source) I tidied them up and woke this morning to find several of my cherished bookmark folders & contents have gone?

Quick, Simple and Easy.

I was initially very pleased with this bookmark cleaner, but recently ran a some of the "automatic" clean up options (sorry can't remember which ones now) and instead of merging the dupes within their parent folders, it moved them all to a single (pretty much random) folder. :( Have been looking for AGES for a good Chrome extension for bookmark management, bummed this isn't it...

For some reason I keep getting dups of bookmarks in my browser. This is a great tool to get rid of these and seems to work flawlessly.

Something broke from the first to the second... The only thing I trust (having saved my backup...) is the delete duplicate (same folder) and delete empty folder -- DO NOT ALLOW IT TO MERGE ACROSS FOLDERS. IT WON'T. IT WILL DELETE. I HAVE 15k Bookmarks from over 10 years of research

I was going to spend a couple hours writing a script to do what this does out of the box. Nice!

The scan and then resulting list of dupes, empty folders, etc., is really helpful. However, even though I selected "Custom" for managing the way the app resolved these issues, I still lost a lot of bookmarks. Just gone. Fortunately, I exported before starting, but I lost all the descriptors/custom names I had assigned. I wish I had never run this app. The work to fix all of this will be 10x what it would have been had I just done it manually.

This deleted many of my folders and bookmarks that were not duplicates or empty!

I thankfully backed up my bookmarks FIRST. Because like other recent reviewers, I had the angering experience of having my bookmarks ERASED -entire folders-instead of "Merged" ALL of my bookmarks have been erased by this extension. Don't use this one!

I love how it merges folders, but when finding duplicate urls I think it would be nice to make a selection of which one you want to keep on more than just one link. then clear out a lot at once, not just one at a time.

I had no issues. It performed well and was quick. I had over 1500 links and 122 folders, including 591 duplicates. Cleaned my bookmark folders, up, in a few minutes. Thank you for creating a wonderful tool. Be sure to donate for this this app. He only asks for a $5.00 donation.

Disaster. Thankfully I backed up the bookmarks. I ran each category one a a time and thought I was being very careful. One category I did not run: duplicate links in different folders--because I do have certain bookmarks I like to keep in two different folders occasionally. At the end ALL my bookmarks were gone. All these folders had different names. I have no idea why they were deleted. I had high hopes that this would organize my folders. Instead it destroyed them all.

It does everything is says it does, except scan for dead links. There is no option for this at all.

I accumulated more than a thousand bookmarks and bookmark folders over the years. Trying to organize them manually is torture. I tried for two hours to find a way to quickly and effectively pare them down to a manageable size. THIS EXTENSION DID IT RIGHT AWAY! I LOVE IT! I sent the guy five bucks but his app is worth a lot more. Thanks Man!

Installed Fast Bookmark Scanner extension. {Exported bookmarks in Chrome browser settings first before test.} Right click on icon shows no User options. Left click on icon to start scanning bookmarks. What it does is it automatically check marks every duplicate found in the list found in a separate tab. You then uncheck those links you want to save. If you have 3 or more duplicates of same bookmark it only lists 2. The maximum number of duplicates it will list is 10. So if you have 1,000's of bookmarks you'll be at it forever. A button above all the links indicates it will delete all 5 duplicates, even though it has checked all 10 doubles found, which makes no sense (10 duplicate links listed x 2 duplicates per link = 20 total links that are auto checked. What 5 is it going to delete??) If you don't opt to use the "delete all 5" button.. Each link with it's duplicate is shown in it's own boxed area on the page. At the top left of each boxed area is an animated trash can (this means there are 10 boxes on the page each with 2 duplicate links), which you can click on to delete your checked link(s). This is a similar setup as SuperSorter, which also takes about 1-2 seconds to scan your bookmarks. What it probably does is scan for the first 10 duplicates it can find in one section of bookmarks, show them, and then move on to another section. For me it will take too long since I have a really large bookmarks list. Uninstalled.

Worked just like i liked. I had duplicate folders and links from importing backups and it got rid of them and merged.

Thank you! Recently imported some bookmarks from Firefox and then signed in to my Google account and realized that I had duplicate bookmarks. Thank you to this extension the problem got fixed so easily!

It does what it says and does so quickly. I love the fact that it allows you to check for duplicate url, duplicate or empty folders separately. Yes that might mean a few more clicks but it also means more control over what it does. I can also attest that it can handle nearly 10,000 bookmarks without missing a beat and do so quickly. The only function that I wish it had is to be able to check for bad links as well. That said, if it means that what it does now would be hindered, I would rather check them manually.

The developers added the "delete all duplicated" option, but they did a HUGE mistake of deleting all the duplicated links and leaving NO ONE AT ALL. If I didn't pay attention to that I would have deleted all the bookmarks for all. PLEASE FIX THIS!

With only 4 user controls, which are simple buttons, it is more than easy to use and amazingly efficient. It made thousands of mergers and deletions within a minute. Many thanks Zetoutou.
