Used to be amazing but now no longer does anything. I expect someone upstream has badly borked gnome on ubuntu, no extensions work, can't install new ones, can't configure existing ones.
Love this extension, however it has stopped working. I did upgrade to Ubuntu 22.10 early so was expected some things would be broken until after official release. Just a PSA for anyone thinking of doing the same. "Your native host connector do not support following APIs: v6. Probably you should upgrade native host connector or install plugins for missing APIs. Refer documentation for instructions." As per the instructions: Sudo apt-get install chrome-gnome-shell Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done Reading state information... Done chrome-gnome-shell is already the newest version (10.1-5). 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Although GNOME Shell integration extension is running, native host connector is not detected Stopped working last month or so.
This extension is not working anymore, always says : Native host has exited.
Doesn't work, keeps saying Native host connector is not supported for your platform.
I found this experience tediously nightmarish and still it doesn't even bother to work right. All I ever wanted was my task bar on every monitor. The one that actually could perform some task not a barely glorified clock. 0/1000 poor effort and a huge waste of time. Real bummer.
This extension does not distinguish different device types. It just sync extensions blindly.
Thanks to Zach Norris. I totally agree with him. Typical web user interfaces serves with a system service and a local web page. But gnome and chrome, they work in a different architecture. The architecture is like <gnome shell extensions> - <GNOME Shell integration for Chrome>(It's a package called chrome-gnome-shell in ubuntu) - <This browser extension> - <https://extensions.gnome.org/>. So this browser-extension serves as a connector between web page and your gnome extensions and you can manage your gnome-shell-extesions at https://extensions.gnome.org/
good option for those running linux gnome, i run it on latest ubuntu works great.
Works well, and lets me get Ubuntu 20 looking juuuust right. :)
good
Needed for gnome DE. If this extension doesn't worked in chromium based browsers, try it in firefox. Because, this extension doesn't worked for me in chromium, but works well in firefox and brave
I dual boot. So in order to have any kind of Gnome customisation I must forever suffer this extension being present when I use windows or Mac. This is hateful.
It is very useful extension. It is working in GNOME 3.36 with Xorg in Arch Linux.
Makes extending gnome super easy.
works great!
worked perfectly on manjaro gnome 3.32
great.
Used gnome for quite some time, with time it became more buggy, more ugly, more unfunctional, strange behavior, less support .... etc. So sorry for the time I spent with this tool adjusting it, fixing it, hoping this will work better with next version. Just a waste of time. It is far away from what is supposed to be. Please stop developing this, you will save your time and other's time. Stay away.
To be honest, this's a very nice tool to manage GNOME extensions on ubuntu 18.04.
Unable to locate GNOME Shell settings or version. Make sure it is installed and running.
Breaks in chromium on Solus Budgie. Can't remove or disable it, it's a bug. Otherwise it's great in Debian Gnome 3 desktop
Very good but you should prepare one for Chromium too......
Not work!!
I like it now that I realize what it does. I knew Ubuntu had installed this extension but I didn't realize what exactly it did. I would recommend rewording the chrome extension description. I believe doing so would cause less confusion and fewer comments in the extension review that express that. This extension allows you to tweak Gnome settings. (E.g. You can modify what happens when you left-click a running application in your dock.) Additional, custom, Gnome settings may be configured with the help of additional Gnome extensions (not related to Chrome extensions). The Gnome shell integration chrome-extension can be used to manage these Gnome extensions and their settings. Edit: I would also recommend changing the landing page (the page loaded when the chrome extension icon is clicked). Currently you are taken to a extension search & install page. I would update that page, or replace it, with a more thorough explanation of what value the extension brings and what its capabilities are. I'd also include important FAQ links so that people easily understand the steps needed to remove the extension.
I can't get rid of it... It says that it is installed by my administrator but I have no administrator...
Excellent way to manage Gnome extensions! Running on Chromium 66 on Ubuntu 18.04 / Gnome 3.28. also: Thanks for adding light icon variant, it looks great!
I did not ask for this to be installed. It doesnt tell me why its there so in my opinion its not needed and thus unwanted software.
even the best extension can be hated if it can't be normally disabled and uninstalled
good
I'm not using Gnome and this extension shows up in my Chrome and I cannot uninstall or disable it. Is it a virus?
dosnt work
Does what it's supposed to do perfectly. Makes handling Gnome Shell Extensions easy.
The fact that this was installed without permission is pretty bothersome. You just lost a user because of it.
When I switched back to Unity, this extension is not allowing me to uninstall it, claiming it is an enterprise extension.
Can't use it on Debian 8, it says that native host has exited. And I can't install or uninstall "chrome-gnome-shell", cause it's unable to locate this package. But I was able to fix this by installing python-requests (apt install python-requests) and now it works flawlessly, so if you're facing this problem too, you already know what to do.
How do I uninstall this ?
Fast.
This is how not to install extensions for users. I've already removed it. But please try not to be the IE yahoo-toolbar of 2017.
Though this looks required by using Gnome and but i really hate it since it doesn't give me any notice to install and i can't delete it from my chrome browser, feel like i am using a spamming software.
Works nicely, doesn't affect performance and all of the functions work as expected
Actually works pretty well!!! it even synchronize all my installed extensions so if I go to reinstall linux i can easily add them back!
Avoid. Extremely buggy and almost impossible to remove.
Excellent work. After actually reading the instructions in the description of this extension, so that I learnt to add the COPR containing the native component and installing it, this extension works like a charm on Vivaldi / Fedora 26. Thanks!
Thank you so much for that!
Can't remove it.
Couldn't get this extension to work with the Gnome website, apparently there's something else I need to download. But worse than this is that I can't uninstall this extension. "This extension is managed and cannot be removed or disabled." Even after deleting it from Default/Extensions/ it still shows up in my list of extensions.
Muy buena idea el integrar los botones de activar extensiones desde el navegador con el escritorio GNOME
Works great! Almost flawlessly. Antergos 64-bit. The only issue I'm having is every time I start Chrome I get a prompt to install an extension called "Panel World Clock (Lite)". In the past I installed this extension and it didn't work so I uninstalled it. Now I'm prompted every time I open Chrome to install this extension. I'm not sure if this browser plugin or the gnome extension is causing it.
Mmmm, finally. I know it's been on Chrome for awhile now, forgot to leave my review. Happy to no longer have to open Firefox or Iceweasel to add Gnome Extensions, mmm yeah baby! Thanks
This broke /usr/bin/gnome-shell and I can't seem to remove it.
Not working. This problem does not come from extension but from gnomes website - using old api from early 90s. Its 2017... gnome website is rubbish as always. Firefox is going to change to new api as well this year. Anyway the error msg: Although GNOME Shell integration extension is running, native host connector is not detected.
The extension itself seems to be running, but Fedora 25 support via the COPR is missing. Cannot complete installation.
Great extension. Only reason I haven't given 5 stars is because I use 2 other workstations without GNOME installed and get extension error notifications on those because GNOME isn't present.
Unclear documentation.
Does not work out of the box. Bummer.
Works like a charm if you read the installation instructions
I get an error message every time it tries to load. Can't uninstall it now either. HATING THIS.
On Manjaro, I had no issue as everything worked properly. I recently installed Antergos and while most functionality works properly, I cannot update extensions. Hopefully this will be corrected in a future update.
-doesn't work -bad documentation
Working perfectly on Arch Linux running GNOME 3.20 with native connector from AUR.
This is rather excellent. Would be great if it could store the extension list in my Google Account as Gnome itself doesn't (seem to) allow an easy method to sync extensions between desktops.
It has trouble integrating with Gnome 3.20 and spawns notifications nearly every minuet - it's ridiculously annoying. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I've had to babysit this more than most software, hopefully I will see changes 1 ) Lets annoying, less notifications and 2 ) Works properly as new Gnome versions come out. 3 ) Verify connection reliability, it constantly is bugging about that.
Works perfectly! Thank you!
This extension came with specific instructions to install the Connector in Gentoo, and it just works freaking PERFECTLY. And I've discovered cool Gnome Shell extensions to boot. You just made my day and it's early in the morning.
Thank you!
Works perfectly! Unfortunately the PPA is only for trusty so I had to install from source (wily)
I'm using the browser Vivaldi (derived from Chromium) and Antergos distribution (derived from Arch), and the extension works perfectly! Thank you!
This extension works perfectly for me (Chromium/Arch/Gnome 3.18).
