Great idea and beautiful execution. One of my favorite apps. The reviews might be more favorable if the developer made clear before installation exactly what the app does. Quite a few reviewers are upset that the notes appear every time a new tab is opened (which is like saying an apple is a bad apple because it doesn't taste like an orange.) Also, some are understandably upset that their notes disappeared after clearing their browsing data. I tested it and it didn't happen to me. So I advise testing it for yourself, and probably just to be on the safe side don't leave anything there that you'd be very sad to lose.

I beg of you, PLEASE update with a Dark Mode. It's a wonderful app. This would make it Perfect.

Brilliant concept and idea. Worst (probably only one that I can complain about) part is there's no dark mode. As a person in love with dark mode/dark themes I really would love to see this extension getting dark mode.

Didn't actually keep my notes, Lost my info.

Became reliant on this plugin for notes, then one day everything was deleted and it doesn't seem to be backed up anywhere! :(

The pale colored text insertion marker is very difficult to see. Why is this puke green? Black works so what was the point of changing it?

I like it. Handy, clean, light. I have one wish... I wish when I opened a new tab, it didn't default to this extension. I don't want all my thoughts out there on family computer.. say, a birthday gift idea.

3 star for now. it's functional for very TEMP notes. But two issues: 1. It would be more useful if it could sync between devices. (I'm sure that is a network security nightmare; so good luck when/if it ever gets that feature. 2. Occasionally ALL my notes get 'reset'. It's probably after a Chrome update or something; but nonetheless, don't bother keeping your 'notes' in here long term. Great for quick note space. (but might get reset back to default > and lose your notes. So only very TEMP use) Guess ultimately, it's purpose is to act like Text Edit / Notepad ... basic place to ploop very basic, non-long-term quick-notes. So ... it does what it advertises. It just would be WAY more useful if it did sync. I'd personally def pay a for that feature! (secure sync) ... (maybe it can have permission to sync with a google doc or something, in regards to the 'security' aspect of it... no need to reinvent the wheel, if there's a Google Drive/Docs API option this tool could utilize to allow it 'sync' functionality.)

If you want to jot something down, sure. But if you ever want to be able to see your writing DO NOT USE. Says that it saves automatically, but if you've ever had chrome shut down on you... or had your page refreshed? ALL deleted and saved absolutely nowhere. Lost a bunch of important writing bc the page refreshed on me. To the developers, either save data somewhere (give option to) OR warn people that their writing is less safe than tracing on a foggy window.

My important records are often lost and I feel it is intentional. I am sure that I don’t have a clear history. He shows that it’s broken. I fix it and it becomes like this.

It was great until chrome message said it was corrupted and got disabled. Asked if I wanted to repair it I said ok and then all the notes were gone.

Great extension for creative idea dumps and intermediate data processing. Unfortunately, it is not reliable for secure storage. You will lose your data with an update or browser cleanup. Make sure you save your content somewhere else so you don't lose it!

Love the idea of this and loved it at first until: every time I open a new tab, up comes Papier. I don't want that. So I went to the chrome settings to change it back to my preferred 'new tab' style. So then Papier disappears. I would just like to have a single tab for Papier and the rest carry on as normal. Also, just read some of these comments about how if you clear your browsing data all the notes disappear. Sadly, I have copied all my notes made this morning into a notepad file and will be removing this extension.

Neat, simple and distraction free. Great extension, thanks. My feature requests would be that I would like to be able to disable new tab control (I have another extension that uses the new tab), and open papier using shortcut instead.

Used this for several months, then all notes disappeared. If you clean your browser forget it - all gone. I undertand...saving your notes periodically as there is no option...but tons of notes now all zapped. This goes from my favorite/beautiful/simple app to the worst. Won't use again unless auto-save is allowed.

Totally AWFUL. THERE IS NO BACKUP of your notes! So if you clear any browsing data (or it seems it happened for me when I updated Chrome), you will loose everything that you think you saved! This happened to me, and I lost a ton of work. Also developer support is nonexistent. No reply to my message. Would really recommend you don't use it, or else back up regularly (but then you are basically making another system that you could use in the first place).

Love the app, I use it all the time! But Where is the MD file stored and where is it located if i want to make a backup of it?

I love the idea. But I want to be able to view my bookmarks bar when I open a new tab. Can't find a way to do that without showing showing the bookmarks bar all the time. So it makes browsing less efficient.

It's a wonderful extension. Just PLEASE add SYNC too.

It's a handy extension, but the lack of cross-device sync is missing the low hanging fruit.

Cool design but it has deleted all my data and replaced it with the "How-To" readme 3 times now. Each time I lost my to-do list. It's just not worth it...

It works well on my PC but the notes there don't show up on my Chromebook. Checking to see if it works the other way. Unable to find a support page.

Why have they not made a way to sync this across all devices? Or did they...? really.

I loved it. Then all my notes disappeared. I kept using it. And all my notes disappear again. It's a pity, but it's just not reliable at all.

Amazing

LOVE the app, helps keep me on task at all times and remember everything I need. Biggest feature it needs is a revision history so you can track back through revisions in case you accidentally erase stuff. Otherwise it's great!

To save your notes periodically right click outside of the text area and Save as "filename" Then point to your Google Drive ;)

UPDATE: Notes disappeared after clearing browser data and user. Wished there was a warning or some form of syncing / backup to Google Drive. 1) Would like an option to close Papier and see the normal Chrome New Tab to access Google Now. 2) Please add syncing!

Most useful and simple chrome extension I have ever used. Would love (and donate for) an android companion app.

You can write down a note and when you need it fast, you just have to open a new tab. It's easy to use, and also helpful.

Absolutely love the simplicity of the Papier extension designed by Muxu until it didn't do what the marketing promised it would do. Was it easy to open a tab and type my thoughts? Yes. Was it great knowing the tab could close and the note would be saved? Yes. Was it nice knowing you can print the note? Yes. And then... I actioned a browsing/downlod history clearance... ALL NOTES DELETED! Do Not Use @wearemuxu #Papier #ChromeExtension without saving the note locally. It markets itself as not needing saving YET deletes data that cannot be recovered if you delete your browsing history. *** Luc advised me that deleted note data CANNOT be recovered ***

It is a good extension for the chrome browser. I has a big issue it removes all the data of the papier extension if you clear all data of your browser. And one more thing that I am not liking is there is lots of space is getting waste in both sides (left and right). If this issues are resolved then it is the best choice.

Love this extension. I use it as a dumping ground for all of my thoughts on the go (while on my laptop of course). Majority of my work requires internet and thus browser based applications have become more convenient to use in majority of situations. A simple command+t and i'm ready to type away. I also appreciate the simple additions of being able to make lists and checklists. The one thing I wish I could do would be to access this extension on the mobile version of chrome (particularly iphone). This would be a game changer, although I understand that one of the points of the extension is to be able to forego having to create an account. Sigh... You can't have everything I guess. :P

Papier is great except that it has a weird habit of deleting my notes. It didn't happen until recently and may have something to do with force-quitting chrome on mac. Have not had problems with this on Windows. It would also be nice if it could sync across my chrome sessions. I have Papier installed on a dual-boot Windows/Ubuntu as well as a Mac machine and that gives me 3 different sets of notes. I still use it frequently but I always try to make sure I have my important stuff backed up somewhere persistent, like Slack (or regular paper)

Love the idea, I felt there was a lot of wasted space around the edges since my notes were generally pretty short. Would've REALLY liked the option to collapse lists, I like minimalism and having a whole bunch of notes and bullet points shown all the time isn't ideal

My first time reviewing an extension. I use Papier *everyday*. The only request I have would be support for markdown. I would also value the ability to set up an account to be able to access my notes on other devices.

Please, make it possible to sync between all devices. Other than that, it is great.

i work 90% of the time on my browser and this keeps all the todos in front of my eyes

Really like this - just two minor issues: - it doesn't sync between multiple devices (I think this is a limitation and not that important) - if you run out of space you can lose everything :-(

Please provide the option to auto save. sometime extension got disable due to network or something. And when i re-enable it , data got delete. Please add this feature, As I am addicted to this extension.

Simple to use for quick notes & checklists. Handles drag/drop & most common editor shortcuts.

Once in a couple of months all my notes disappear, and I see instead the initial page. I wonder, where my notes are stored then?

I really like the extension. It has helped me a lot to keep notes and tidbits that I require. I would like to propose a feature where you can sync your papier notes across browsers i.e. if I have chrome on 2 computers, I can sync the papier notes on the two browsers

Fantastic extension, looking forward to sync functionality being added. The only other things I wish this page could do is allow for more formatting options like bullet points, numbered lists, and highlighting; and I would also love if you could do simple calculations, for example by starting a new line with = and then typing 4*7 and pressing enter would make the result appear before the equals sign

First time reviewing an extension. This is by for the best and most useful extension I use. Perfect note keeper in the exact spot that I need it. Having this in a tab allows me to be reminded about my to-dos every time I open up a new tab (which is every few minutes.

This is a free, lightweight note taker that everyone should be using, and it doesn't track you (I think). I wish that there was a way to turn off autocorrect though: I frequently use it to simply jot down notes, and seeing the page bathed in red irritates me.

Please add sync (either include google account sync). Would be much more useful if it had sync between devices.

Simple yet great extension. The only issue that I have is that notes do not sync between computers.

Love it. I plan on using it a lot. Especially like - Total char/word count - Selected char/word count - dark theme However, I could not find how to insert emojis. I am using it on Windows 7. Another minor gripe. The color of the character count label could be a little more contrasted, it's too pale and my aging eyes need to squint at times to see them.

Lovely extension. It would be nice to have a collection of notes to switch between, because all notes don't necessarily go to the same place. Additionally, it would really nice if one could create a temporary note or incognito note so that if you want to type out something in front of someone, you don't have to show them all your notes. UPDATE: I just realized that the extension hijacks the new tab shortcut! *** NOT OKAY!! *** Perhaps the developer can support the option to have a different shortcut or unbind the existing shortcut.

I really do love this app! The following two complaints are the only reasons I have given it three stars. In my career I do a ton of in-person and webinar demonstrations of our programming and online services with all levels of professionals, from government affairs to local businesses, and this gives me a quick and easy way to add notes about what our clients and prospects are saying or what they want us to do differently, then save them when I get back to my office. It shows them I am actually taking notes on their requests and am remembering what they want. However... 1. I use Safari extensively for various reasons - during webinars and throughout the day. But in Safari, when I open a new tab, the address bar isn't selected by default like it normally is when you use command-T. That means I have to stop and click on the address bar with the mouse before I can type in a new website or search EVERY TIME I open a new tab. As you can imagine, this is very irritating for someone who only wants to quickly open a new tab and jump to a website or search results in a few seconds. 2. It would be great to have some way of hiding the notes you have already typed so you aren't revealing them to people you're meeting with just because you want to open a new tab. This is a big deal to me because, whether I type something private in the notes or not, I don't want my client or prospect to see everything I have written just so I can open a new tab. Other than that, I'm very happy something like this exists and I use it everyday!

Really needs Chrome syncing so I can view notes on other devices (part of the reason I downloaded it), but otherwise it's a good looking, clean extension that I've found very useful.

I love this extension! My, probably, only gripe with the extension is that I wished it had the option to change the fonts or color of text. If there is an option that exists, I don't know of it--someone tell me! It's nothing worth knocking a star off of the extension though!

Super awesome. Good riddance from Evernote. Edit: Well it doesn't sync with Chrome. I work with different computers and my sole intent was to see my notes across PCs. This app doesn't achieve that purpose.

This has become indispensable for my daily work! When your job involves using a web browser a bunch, Papier makes it so handy to keep a simple to-do list or jot down quick, random notes. Love it!

SO simple and effective. One of the best extensions I've come across! Will recommend this to all my colleagues.

More useful than annoying. Useful stuff: - Day/night mode - Text formatting - Highlights URLs - Always there Annoying stuff: - When I select text and press backspace it doesn't always delete the text. Sometimes it deselects the text and I have to select it again, and sometimes it stays selected, so I just have to press backspace again. - When I select text and press Cmd+c it doesn't always copy. - Weird to change font size with markdown, but not be able to use markdown for bold, italics, lists, etc.

Like the app and concept too. I used it for a month and then i can see now all of sudden all my data got lost. I have noted too many things :(
