Very easy to use !!! Exactly what I wanted! Improved my life 2x
It's a good idea, but there is a scope for improvement. 1. Search shows only a few suggestions, so the user might think these are the only search results. Please show more results if possible. 2. The search algorithm is very weak. For example, if my bookmark is saved as "Run Docker commands in Rancher", if I search for "Docker Rancher" it will still not show me the result. This effectively makes the extension very less useful, since no one remembers the exact phrase of their bookmarks, unless they just want to search using just one word.
exactly what I was looking for. many thanks for this!
REALLY USEFUL
Exactly what i needed!
loving this, perfect for my needs.
FEEDBACK: Thanks for the extension, it's supper useful. Currently the search has a 'starts with...' algorithm, please include a 'contains...' algorithm as well. It is a very common scenario when then user wants to look up a keyword or phrase among all bookmarks. Thanks a lot! :-)
Far superior search results as compared to a standard Chrome bookmarks search. Would be great to have the search string return results for names of folders in bookmarks.
Perfect!
Nice.
Does something useful & isn't reading my browsing history!
not work with me
can't imagine using chrome without it anymore tbh
Hi, The sub-string search doesn't work in most cases, below are cases: 1. Search "free ssl" - It works 2. Search "ssl free" - It does NOT works 3. Search "free cert" - IT does NOT work, though the bookmark name is "free ssl cert" Can you fix these issues? I got 3000+ bookmarks, and this sub-string feature is very important. You just need to search based on multiple independent words, not just straight string.
I Love this extension because I can get to pdf's with shortcuts i've created in bookmarks way quicker than having to click my way through pages to get where I want, I think having an option without this line of code " (!jsMatch.test(n.url) || " under the function b.searchSubTrees in search_common.js would be very beneficial. I have bookmarks with similar url's but no where near the same bookmark title. that way i wouldnt have to type the entire bookmark title before i get the (only match) suggestion.
Very useful.
unique
Very helpful, however, when searching the number one option in the drop down is "Search in Bookmarks" rather than the actual bookmark... It'd be great if there was a option to disable this. Also, the ability to change the keyword from "bm" would be nice.
Works just as described. The icon looks ugly, please make it a png without white background.
Simple, effective, and functional! FINALLY a near-perfect implementation of searching and opening bookmarks directly from the omnibox! Prior to using this, I could enter part of a bookmark name, and maybe only one result from my bookmarks would actually be listed as a suggestion, despite having several bookmarks with matching names. Now I can see up to 5 results, and can simply choose to search in bookmarks if that isn't enough. My only suggestion would be to let the user specify the maximum results to show, or include a scrollbar so that all results can be found by hover-scrolling over the suggestion list. Thanks for this extension!
해보세요....
Doesn't tell you where the bookmarks are. Completely useless.
Adds a feature that I used religiously instead of a bookmarks toolbar so thank you. Not sure why it isn't in Chrome as standard so really helpful that you've made an extension. Could you make it possible to change the keyword please? That'll earn the extra star! :)
On chrome, when you open a page, you could enter "b" ,the build-in function is the same with this addon.
Just installed this, but the first impressions is great. Exactly what I was after. Thanks :)
Useful and easy to use but I would like to change keyword from "bm" to "b", Please make the option to change the keyword.
I love it but I have notice it stopped working a couple of weeks ago, what could happened?
This extension is awesome BUT it would be fabulous if you added an advanced search feature too. For example: bookmarks containing both words foo and BAr :)
Awesome stuff.
Works great once you type bm in the address bar, hit TAB, Pulls up the bookmark correctly. Thank you smart coder!
brilliant! able to search texts in the bookmark names
minimalist and USEFUL! to Author: add ability to change search system tag "bm" in options. Thanks.
It doesn't work with Windows 10 and Chrome.
Does not show bookmark folders that match search string, so if you have organised your favourites that way it misses the most obvious repository for what you want.
Does not work. Clicking "search bookmarks" takes you back to the extensions store again.
Great extension. One request and one idea: 1. I'd like to be able to customize the search keyword from "bm" to something like "*". 2. I'd like to be able to search by URL and by the Bookmark's folder path. Otherwise a 5★ extension!
This plugin has become instrumental to my daily workflow! This is the most useful!
I have hundreds of bookmarks and this is just wonderful. It's fast, unobtrusive and does what it's supposed to. Love it.
Fast and easy, that is it!
This is a simple app. Simple, but effective, I've never had any issues with it, and it has revolutionized the way I use bookmarks. The only thing I wish could be improved, was the way text search worked. Its a bit limited, and old fashioned, in that, if you search for a bookmark, without using search text that is equivalent to a portion of text in the bookmark name, you will not find the bookmark. E.G. If you search for "books", and you are trying to find a bookmark with simply "book" in the name, it would not find it, since "books" isn't the exact text match. However, searching for "book" when you are looking for "My reading list of books", will show your bookmark, since book is exact text contained within the word "books". But, to the best of my knowledge, this app simply uses google's own bookmark manager, all it does is allow you to access this manager through the url search bar, as long as you type "bm" then space then your text search keywords. This is the first google app I have ever rated, and I choose to do so, because it has truly been the most useful tool for organizing a huge series of google docs with various notes about various academic subjects. Also the convenience of typing "new doc" and being able to immediately open a url to a new google document is very convenient!
Handy, minimalist plugin. If you like tweaking things yourself by adding a bunch of smallish extensions, this is one of them. Even if not, it's still worth having if you like to keep your hands on the keyboard. FEATURE REQUEST: Some of my bookmarks don't have a name, just an icon and a URL. If bookmarks could be searched by url as well, then it would be even better. Still a a 5/5 as it is as there is another extension that can hide bookmark names.
Handy little tool, it seems on first acquaintance. But then likewise, initial obvious fault is that it doesn't then let you opt to delete (eg. right click, or something) on a search result to remove it from your bookmarks
Thank you so much for this! Allows me to open that page I can only recall by name but not its peculiar location in my bookmark hierarchy.
Trouble is I have thousands of bookmarks. I need a bookmark searcher that shows the location of the bm I am searching for, and this does not, nor does it let me edit the bm.
It's all I ever wanted
Just installed it and works pretty well so far. Exactly what I wanted. Kudos to the developer - great job!
Excellent! this was exactly what i was looking for!
I like it very much
It doesn't always work, and often works so slowly that it's useless. When this happens I have to go through the bookmark manager. It needs to be improved. It's a great idea and nice when it does work though.
This doesn't actually do anything as far as I can tell. No instructions doesn't help. I don't see anything like "Bookmark Search" as seen in the Overview. How hard is it for Chrome to suggest bookmarks along with history?
Thanks!
how do I use it. guess this is a dumb questions as others have figured it out. Not me. I'm deleting it.
[EDIT2 2016-02-21]: It's very good, except a quirk: - When search engine is set to use native google, it doesn't search the 'url' of the bookmark, only the text of the label. However, the native chrome search searches the url as well as the text of the bookmark. For example, when I bookmark this: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1229206 And if I search "Bug label" Then the native search will pick up 'bug' from the url and 'label' from the text and offer that bookmark. But with this bookmark search plugin it doesn't. 5 stars if this plugin would also search the URL as google's native algorithm does. [EDIT 1 2016-02-19] I just noticed that search method can be altered in options to use native chrome search. The native search seems to find stuff better than the alternative search, but keep up the effort!. -> 5 Start for option to use which search type. ----- OLD REVIEW> I like the concept, but the search is not fuzzy. e.g I have a bookmark: git method for creating a patch I search for: git patch and it doesn't find the above. But the native Chrome search does find it. It seems that this plugin has it's own search mechanism. but I think , the plugin should do the same search as the native chrome search except only list bookmark items.
Great Work! Very Handy Little Tool!
Great extension. Still does what it says despite lack of updates.
Type bm and hit spacebar and the addressbar turns into a bookmark search bar. Simple and useful!!
Fantastic! i like the way i can search from the omnibox itself, has been working great so far, recommended!
Does not work.
Simply works.
Works perfect, use it all the time.
Excellent. The only potential problem is that it replaces corresponding search suggestion spaces, lowering your total amount of potential suggestions, but that's it. Great extension!
same as what others pointed out! works incredibly great for a while and an update will break it! have to re-add it to make it work again
doensnt work
Excellent. Thank you.
just trying
Works great. I don't have any of the issues other users are having. Thanks!
Works very well most of the time. I seem to recall not being able to find some bookmarks, but it could be user error. You'll notice that when searching, only a limited number of search results are shown, but if you hit enter, it will open another window and display all of your search results. It would be good if it said <HIT ENTER TO SEE MORE RESULTS> or something to that effect. Not the most intuitive at first, but once you play with it a while, it is very helpful. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED EXTENSION.
Stopped working recently with a recent update to either the extension or Chrome. Had to delete the extension and re-add it for it to work again. Took me a few weeks to actually get off my butt and try to fix it. But I love the extension in general.
RARELY finds the bookmark I'm looking for. I'm better off not using the extension most of the time.
A great option to search within bookmarks. Ideal for those who have hundreds of bookmarks. Though chrome provides search feature (shortcut shift+ctrl+O), this extension is much faster.
Just tried this. it works up to a point, but failed to find bookmarks which I successfully found using the Search box in Bookmark Manager. Different search algorithm? Why, for Pete's sake?!! Much prefer "Search Bookmark", which works the same way,(ie. bm in the omnibox) but returned same results as BM search.
I love this extension! Two words : Fast & easy!!! I have thousands of bookmarks, in an extensive bookmark structure. Now, retrieving any of them is a breeze, always seconds away. It could not be simpler or faster! And the developer continues to improve it, with a few minor releases just in the last couple of days. Great work!
I usued to love it but how do i contact the developer because it stopped working now. ***** No longer works can someone contact the developer?
super sexy bookmark manager... must have for lazy ppl :P :D
I have so many bookmarks that it is impossible to find anything, this is exactly what I need!
Excellent work! Thank you.
I'd rather give up the javascript bookmark functionality and not have to grant the "data on webpages" permission. Too bad, it's exceptionally useful otherwise.
Thank you developer. This is exactly what I needed.
Great extension. Thank you. UPDATE: Never mind my question below. The Option to select is the "Automatically selects full match on name" to enable 'go to' with single result in bookmark query. FOLLOWING QUESTION IS INVALID NOW. A quick question - if I have only a single bookmark result for my search term, then I am unable to 'go to' it. I am only able to go to the 'Bookmark search' page with that result in the 'Search' category. Is this expected behavior?
