Working on Windows 11 with Chrome. Happy to use the orange colour for clicked Google links.
It works but only with the existing colors. Trying to use a custom hex color does nothing but default back to orange. I'd much prefer the custom color option to work.
This is what I'm looking for, but if it works please tell me how. There are no instructions, and inputting the desired color code (FFC0CB) changes nothing.
As a researcher, I'm in love with this extension. While conducting a literature review sometimes I can't remember if I already checked a paper or not and this really helps me to discriminate between visited pages and new ones.
Visits doesn't seem to be `remembered` between sessions. The moment you refresh the page, the visited coloured link returns to the standard colour (I'm using it on MS Edge). Other than that, it's very useful for those having trouble distinguishing colours. I like the easy toggle and colour selection. Well don on that!
Thank you been looking for something like this for a while, you can supposedly change visited links color in the internet options in windows but it never worked. Microsoft don't care either that's pretty bad !
It used to work well, but not working well on Windows 11 - Microsoft Edge browser. It's hit and miss. Sometimes it works, then it stops working
Some better default colors would be nice. A bit fussy getting the custom color to stick, but works. Here is a hex generator to make your own colors! https://www.w3schools.com/css/css_colors_hex.asp Use sliders then copy the number given. I think you have to turn the extension on, then add the number, and save, to make it stick.
This is a good extension but at some moment i have detected that it doesn't mark some of already visited links as visited. After finding source ( https://github.com/therynamo/color-links ) and checking how does it store already visited pages i have found that it use: chrome.storage.sync instead of chrome.storage.local. chrome.storage.sync is good if you wish to save history across devices but it is limited by MAX_ITEMS 512 ( https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/reference/storage/#property-sync ) so you will can save only 512 already visited pages and no more. So i need to rebuild this extension somehow or use some another one (512 is too low).
I really like the fact that you can use any Hex color and you don't have to use only the few that comes with it (Google has a quick Hex color picker that gives you the code for whatever color you choose). This is making it much easier for me to see, thank you!
It would actually be useful if it could replace links for websites that otherwise force color.
Helped me a lot.
Some websites don't change color of visited hyperlinks. This extension fixes it.
Only changes the color on sites that don't force the color. I was hoping it would force the color over the web site code. Still better than the default color.
WORKS FINE WITH PRESET COLORS, IF YOU WANT ANOTHER COLOR YOU HAVE TO GOOGLE IT, PASTE IT, AND AFTER ALL THAT DOES NOT WORK
Works as expected. I recommend custom color #47c1bf for visited links (it's the color the extension uses for the ON switch.) It meshes well for most websites that include cyan/blue/green links and looks totally different from them.
Works fine with Chrome 85. I dumped the ugly red color I was stuck with using "Visited" for this extension because I can change the color.
Didn't work at all.
No longer seems to work after last "update". Removing it will find one that works.
OMG I've been so sick of that pale purple look on links since 1996! This is so useful. Now visited links really stand out (I picked deep green). I've used something similar in Firefox but didn't know I could get this for Chrome (actually Brave Browser--light-years faster than Chrome)
Finally! Clicked links are discernible again---many thanks to the developer for allowing us to easily overcome the ridiculously similar default color choices for links. Chrome seems to have become increasingly oriented towards the nanny-state philosophy "this is what we have decided is best for you; live with it" . This extension helps peel back one of the many layers of frustration that result from that dubious approach. Thanks!
Thx soooooo much that worked amazingly !
Is not working in New Microsoft Edge with bing, but does work with Google. No worries they literally just added compatibility with Chrome. Unless this is a user error (lol), please inform. Cheers !
Thank you so much for making this extension! Works great. I hate how Chrome's default is blue and purple links that don't have enough contrast between them!
Not working
Doesn't do anything. Links are still blue and purple (or whatever).
it works
Not working in incognito mode even with the option for it to work, now I can't tell which porn sites I've already visited !
It's not working
Just installed. It seems useful. Suggestion:more options (it now not exist). For example: permanent switched on! Or tooltips?
marche
Does not work in the Gov't of Canada Job Bank...
Does nothing on the news web site: www.yle.fi
doesnt work
Finally relief for the color impaired among us. Blue and purple look the same to me. Did Google ever care? NO EVEN A LITTLE. Why did it take 30 freaking years!
Do not work on version 71
Yay, works perfectly. Very easy, does the one simple thing it's supposed to do. I'm not even color blind but was completely unable to discern the slight color difference for visited sites without squinting. I love an easy fix, thanks.
Very nice. I'd recommend explaining the color selection option and, if possible, integrating a color selector directly into your extension. The selector that's built into Google is convenient (just Google a hex color code). But I have to copy/paste each new value into your extension.
Not working :(
works great! i can finally stop clicking on the same links.
Does not work in Chrome vs. 69. The Chrome developers broke all the methods to change the visited link color in their latest update.
i think this is great tool for SEO brothers :) and i am sure we never ever visit visited site :) :)
Thanks! Chrome's built in blue-to-purple color change for visited links is almost imperceptible on my Pixelbook. This extension showed me that all those links I thought were purple (visited) were really links I hadn't yet clicked on. Just what the doctor ordered.
Worked great. Cheers
Does not work.
Doesn't seem to work most of the time. I'm color-blind and this should be an easy fix, but this program is not up to the job.
PERFECT Simple visited link color change.
2nd comment: I did more testing and found out it's working better. Sometimes a link doesn't return the changed color, but if you right click it, it will. Having said that, it will not change the links which are noted "ad." That's not a big deal as I do not often visit those. 1st comment: All I want to do is change the visited link color when I use Google Search Engine. I'm tired of squinting to determine the difference between dark blue and dark purple. Ex: I set the color to orange & turn on, I click a link, the link flashes orange when I select it, I return to the search page, it is still dark purple.
Works for me so far. The only extension working that I have found. It can style individual websites. For example, I only activate this in search result of Google and not changing the link color of other websites.
Looked at many and this one is IT. Gives you control of ON/OFF and even custom hex color codes with the # button. Score!
Thanks! Works great! I used to use the Stylist extension because changing the color of visited links makes my work so much easier. That disappeared from the Chrome store, so I was worried. This extension is much easier to use anyways. Glad this is available.
Not great for Red-Green color blindness. Can you make an option for bright orange or bright yellow? Bright is the key. Red looks dark, like black. Greens look tan, unless it is bright.
used to be wonderful, had selected a nice dark red color for my links and now all i have is these faint colors. gimme some bolder darker colors like a nice cherry red. i originally got this because the default link color is to similar for my eyes to differentiate between. and having that nice cherry red really helped until the new update.
Well, I liked this a lot. It seemed to work great. But in the last couple days, I got this notice: "Color Links is disabled. To re-enable it, accept the new permissions: *'Read and change all your data on the websites you visit'." What? I don't think anybody wants to provide permission for a convenience app to be able to read (and change) all my data. What's up with that?
Maybe you could add google.com.ph? or other country not only google.com? Thanks!
Should at least make it work with Google Scholar as well - that tends to be what a lot of researchers utilize (including myself).
Doesn't work.
Works on my MacBook Chrome Browser but not my Mac desktop browser. Does it work with duckduckgo.com?
DOESN'T DO ANYTHING NO MATTER WHICH COLOR I CHOOSE
not working, no color change, on macbook
It does not change the color of my visited links.
Although it worked for google.com, it does not work for the sub-domain scholar.google.com nor for google.ca sadly. Such Chrome extensions are kind of frightening, in that before installing there is a warning that they can read and change the user's information, in this case at the Google api and at google.com, but it's not obvious whether that would include mail.google.com (which = gmail), a scary possibility.
It works well for many web pages, however it does not work everywhere. For example, if you navigate to a linux filesystem, either locally or remotely, the browser reverts back to the default blue and purple which gives my colorblind eyes heck to distinguish.
simple and useful
Does what it says it does
