I hate the way YT has really cranked up the volume on the ads they play (and play WAY too often). I thought this sounded like the perfect solution, and it would be if it did what it advertised. Sadly, it doesn't. I think it skipped one ad, but has done nothing since. And muting the sound....??? LOL, LOL , LOL.... nope... Perhaps I missed something, but I don't think so.

I thought it was probably wishful thinking that this would work but it doesn't mute anything. The first vid that I enabled it on the extension properly skipped all skippable ads but no muting has occurred at all, which was my primary goal.

I didn't want to give it one star because it seems like many others have had good luck. However for me it did NOT mute 3 out of 4 videos and the few it DID mute left youtube muted after my desired video carried on.

It works but it mutes Youtube Live Streaming (Please fix the bug) so I had no choice to remove it.

There is a type of silent advert which results the video is muted even though no advert is played. Edit: good effort, but it often mutes when there aren't any ads. Edit of the edit: this comment used to say nice things about the extension. Now I use YouMute. It's more reliable. Sorry Jasoberai.

You've been trolled by YouTube. This extension always mute my video even there has no any advertisements. It also mutes my video when I skip some of video parts. Anyway, this extension is good for keeping me away from the stupid Udemy, a hard-sale piece of sh** course even I already have a programming skills, ad.

Overall this is a great extension. I still rate it 5 stars even though there's a few bugs. The extension will often mute the tab when a pop-up ad is showing, and sometimes it will mute shorter videos from the beginning, even if no ad was played. Both these issues are only a minor inconvenience though, as simply disabling and enabling the extension from the toolbar resets the mute.

As many say, is a hit or miss, sometimes will mistakenly mute a actual video and refreshing doesn't solve the problem, it will mute the video again after a few seconds. Could be some sort of conflict with Ublock and the Ublock Whitelister plugs, I dunno.

I noticed that after i installed this app there haven`t been anymore ads with the skip option available, is that caused by the app?

It's darn helpful almost all of the time. A minor but consistent improvement.

Extremely hit-or-miss. Mostly gets the before-video ad but can't cope with any ad (video or banner) within the video itself. Occasionally mutes videos that don't have ads beforehand. Will be looking for a different extension to do the job.

It's a great app, but it doesn't really work for mid-video ads.

Does a great job of muting ads, unmutes the next video as expected. just install and forget about it I wouldn't have needed this if the volume difference between video's and ads wasn't enough to startle me quite often (and probably annoy my neighbours)

One suggestion: since long ads monetize after being viewed for at least 30s, how about adding an auto-skip at 31s? That way the ad view "counts" but you don't have to sit through a long ad, just 31s of it :)

Doesn't always work. Some ads get muted and some don't.

Edit: Nvm, updated Chrome and it works. It muted the ad audio but didn't unmute when the ad finished.

Just add the option to let the ad run muted normally till the end and not skip it 5 second after it begins.

After using this for a month or so, I am not sure I will be able to live without it. I love knowing I can still support my content creators and leave my auto-play function on while work on projects. Sanity protector confirmed.

Works perfectly, dooes what it says it does. But... I would love the option to turn off ad-skipping in a preferences dialog. The whole point of downloading this extension in the first place is that I want to support video creators, and the best way to do that is watch 30 seconds of an advert.

Saves me so much hassle! Makes supporting creators much easier. Thank you so much for developing this:)

Does what it says without any extra hassle and makes those pesky full volume ads be silent and me keep my sanity.
