I’ve been using Tabli for *years* and it’s always remained stable, efficient, focused (i.e. no addition of bloating unrelated features) and fast. I love the instant search box, I love saved windows (although it’s a clunky experience :) ), I love how it stores its windows in a special bookmarks folder: Other Bookmarks → Tabli Saved Windows. I tried Toby and Toby Mini and Tabli basically does all that Toby does but much more elegantly and with much greater usability, esp. speed of saving, loading windows. Cheers !

I've tried a lot of tab and window managers recently because I want to save windows used for different types of work. Tabli is definitely the simplest and cleanest and most reliable for what I want. I love the very simple menu style list of open and saved windows and the fact that there's nothing else to think about. Most extensions in this area are more complex and seem to have problems as a result.

Tabli is so much better than the default Tab search feature of Chrome. Thanks for all the efforts that you've put in building it.Certainly one of the top chrome extensions for me.

Great Extension

Great extension. Only one nigggle. I use Tab Suspender. If i close a window with some suspended tabs, then when I reopen the window, none of the suspended tabs open. It would be great if the tabs at least opened in suspended mode, so I could just click and unsuspend them, instead of having to open each tab individually from the Tabli drop down menu. 5 stars otherwise for its simplicity and utility.

I've just tried out half a dozen tab managers. I often have several Chrome windows open. I want to be able to go back to a previously closed window as it was when I closed it. Tabli is slick but it's missing this one critical feature. I can save a window as a named window, and I can reopen it later. But then if I have "tab drift", i.e I close some tabs and open some new ones, and then I close the window, then Tabli does not remember my changes unless I manually go and check the new tabs to be saved before closing the window. I would assume that it would not be that difficult to add an option to "auto-save" the named window tabs. I will update my review if this is implemented - and then I'd be happy to donate to the project as well. Until then, I'll be using the "Simple Window Saver" (which does exactly this but I've read has some reliablity issues). In any case, thanks for making a free extension for Chrome! 2022-11-15 Thanks Antony for the update! I now understand what the "Only re-open saved tabs when re-opening saved windows" option does. Perhaps consider changing the wording to something like "Auto-save and reopen all open tabs" or something similar. Updating the review to 5 stars and THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK on this extension! I also enjoyed your recent blog article about Tabli which made me want to give it another try. Also, for everyone else evaluating this extension, take into consideration that unlike many other "session savers" this one requires minimal permissions and doesn't send or save your data to some 3rd party servers, a huge plus in my book!

Tabli used to be awesome and a great time saver. However, it has recently developed into the exact opposite. Multiple tabs can no longer be opened at once. Instead, Tabli wil either have deleted all the valubale tabs you saved or you have to search your bookmarks for the Tabli folder, then open the tabs individually, which can be time consuming.

At first it looked great... Then it sucked big time. Poor UI!! One slightly inaccurate mouse click and you forever lose all your window tabs. No asking for confirmation with a message like, "Are you sure you want to remove ## tabs from you XYZ window?" Nope, it's just gone. What was supposed to help with organization just cost lots of time trying to restore 100 tabs from my browser history.

Jeremiah Overton June 19th, 2022

This is everything I wanted in a tab manager. Easy to manage, unobtrusive, not overly worked...It uses your current windows, and just gives you a way to organize them. Because it saves everything as bookmarks, it seamlessly syncs between your machines. You can close windows/tabs and not have them be lost, it just doesn't load them. I could go on, but others have already said exactly what I would here, so, THANK YOU Tabli for scratching that itch I could never reach. :)

Brings order to my tab chaos! I have been using it for quite some time now; works great, never had an issue. One feature request I have would be to add support for tab groups, which I know is a new-ish feature in Chrome.

I just accidentally lost all the tabs in a window that I saved with tabli by tapping on the tick next to that window while the window was closed. Now all lost. Please use some sort of recycle bin or trash before permanently deleting.

Does not save actual tabs, only their urls, causing you to lose the pages where the Back button goes before you save them and reload them (the Back button becomes disabled after they're lost.) Check History>Recently Closed to see the expected behavior.

The best tab management tool I have used. I have tried couple tools. I think this is the best one. I tried Tab Manager Plus and Tab outliner. Both of them are good but the UI are complex and save solution is not as good as Tabli. I think Tabli has the smartest save solution.

Thought I'd miss OneTab since it no longer worked in Chrome. Not the case though. OneTab would lose all my bookmarks every once in a while. Tabli has nice features for keeping my bookmarks safe. Also a much nicer UI for saving groups of bookmarks.

Sliced bread < Tabli. Google's added a "Search tabs" feature, but they still have a long way to go to catch up the usefulness of Tabli. It's the one extension that I recommend and the first request I make in a new business setting. My use of it is pretty simple, so I might not find issues that some have, but it is definitely indispensable to me.

I can't believe I didn't know about this extension until today, if you're the kind of person that likes to have hundreds or thousands of tabs open and dozens of windows this addon is a must have, it allows you to see all tabs and windows easily and to close them or to go to them, it really helped me to organize my browser when I had around 70 windows open with 500 tabs, I love it and totally recommend it.

Update: Feb 2, 2020 Due to the bugs mentioned below I am unable to continue using this extension. There seem to be many bugs that do not manifest a first but become apparent as you continue to use this extension. The keyboard navigation is excellent (far superior to Session Buddy, Toby, Cluster, and the many other tab managers I've tried). The search function is incredible: allowing you to search not only open tabs, but closed saved ones as well -- narrowing down the options with each letter typed. The ability to set a global keyboard shortcut is phenomenal: allowing one to instantly search their tabs from wherever they are on the computer. Saving the Tabli tabs to Chrome Bookmarks is brilliant: allowing one to access their bookmarks on their phone or a different computer. The "revert to saved bookmarks" is super useful and I use it multiple times a day. This extension is incredibly well thought out, simple, and clean. At the time of this review, there are 3 major annoyances: 1. The closed but saved tabs move to the end of the tabs in their window when you either close and reopen the window, or, use the "revert to bookmarked tags" button. It would be better if they only move when moved within Tabli, so the order you place them in, within Tabli, is actually relevant. 2. There is currently a bug when unchecking saved tabs: the wrong tab's check is often unchecked. 3. Sometimes strange thing happen when using the "revert to bookmarked tags" button: not all of the saved but closed pages open, or duplicates of the same tab are created. I hope this developer is able to find time to update these annoyances and perfect his masterpiece. It would be a great service as he is probably heavily invested in bigger projects.

Tabli combined with the great suspender has helped me for long time since I work with hundreds of tabs to manage my multi stream workstyle. I would love to see a multi box layout, as alternative to the current vertical lay out, to enable me drag and drop tabs between windows and choose the window I wanted to work with (since I work with more than ten windows). Other question, is there a plan to include tab groups that compatible with chrome tab groups feature ?

This is the best tab manager I have found for Chrome. I completely depend on it. It is very simple compared to many of the "alternatives". It allows quick text searching to FIND the tab you are looking for. I have dozens of tabs on different desktops and this makes it easy to find them. Plus it also allows you to SAVE your tabs and re-open them later!

Hi How can I transfer the tabli database from my computer to another one? Thanks

Joe Travis Bootman September 14th, 2020
Joe Travis Bootman

There's one disastrous UI choice that renders this extension unusable. In the list of windows/tabs, the "current" window (the one on top) is shown first in the list. When you scroll down through the window list and activate another one, the window list scrolls back to the top in order to show you that the window is now the "current." So browsing through old windows to see which ones you can close becomes a huge effort. If you keep the Tabli list open, as you click on windows to bring one of them to the top, the Tabli window flutters with activity, rearranging the list, which is distracting. The current window does not need to be at the top of the Tabli window because *that window is already on top*.

HUGE productivity booster! I regularly have 100 to 200 tabs open, and almost never get below 50 tabs. Sometimes on my more powerful machines (64 GB RAM high-end 4-core/8-thread) I may have up to 400 tabs open. Tabli helps me find, organize, and close them quickly, and in conjunction with the Great Suspender, is truly helpful tool for doing massive online research!

I've tried every bookmark/tab/workspace manager I can find and revisit the options periodically. Tabli continues to be my favorite for saving, organizing, and managing windows/tabs/workspaces. I particularly like the integration with the native bookmark manager which makes backups and cross-device usage elegant and simple. I also like the option to remember and recall tabs in a window even if I haven't explicitly saved/bookmarked that tab.

Amazing very helpful and lightweight. Although weird bug (as of time of writing v2.1.0) with un-checking check-box takes a couple tries and sometimes un-checks the wrong one so be sure to not loose important things till it gets patched.

Simply the best tab management tool and I've tested a lot of them. Helps to cope with tab hell (I mean when you no longer see tab titles -- in multiple windows...), has no bloat, is lightweight and fast, but the best is the search function and ctrl+. shortcut to jump to needed tab without a mouse. Huge thanks to the author for this one!

The Best Tab Mgr I open a LOT of tabs as my curiosity takes me down various roads. I've tested out a lot of tab managers to save my research and to save memory. I use Tabli along with 2 others as a regular part of my day. Its provides very valuable organizing features in helping sort out and organize this sea of information. The best part is the developer continues to develop it and pays attention to user feedback. A true productivity tool.

Out of frustration, I had just completed writing user stories for what I now know as Tabli. Tabli does everything I wanted from a tab grouping extension, it's well implemented and integrated which means it's user friendly. Thank you for your work on this gem!

I really like this extension. Very convenient to quickly hit the shortcut key and search within tabs. What I particularly despise is that every time a new version is released, I am forced to look at a release notes page when I hit the shortcut key, forced to scroll down with my mouse and forced to hit the "Got it" button. I would rather be able to hit escape and have it go away. I don't really care for the release updates, if I wanted to see it I will.

Searches tabs between all open windows and switches desktops for you which puts it head and shoulders above most other tab searchers. Saving groups of tabs isn't super well implemented in my opinion, I think this app should just stick to tab searching and let other extensions like Tab Group handle that job. I don't like that it creates an "Other Bookmarks" folder that appears on the right side of the bookmarks bar. There is a keyboard shortcut to activate it which is nice, "Ctrl . " if you didn't know.

One of the reasons I chose this extension is it's ability to sync. I have a desktop and a laptop with several distros so syncing is necessary. So far that doesn't work out. I end up with more and more versions of a window that I use regularly on either computer, and I have to manually merge this all the time.

Shawn Axsom December 13th, 2019
Shawn Axsom

After going through every major Chrome extension tab or session manager, I thought I was going to have to make my own. Workona, Tabs Outliner, Cluster Tab Manager were close, but Workona is a little heavy and the other two have serious UX issues. Tabli is probably what I would have ended up making if I had tried to make on myself. It works exactly how I want. It is light-weight. It uses bookmarks to preserve history, taking advantage of Chrome profile syncing to sync across browsers. Very smart. It is very easy to save and modify sessions. Hotkeys work well and search features are great. There are only minor enhancements I'd make, like a hotkey to close a tab, or the ability to rename a saved tab if the name sucks. But best of all Antony has this MIT licensed on GitHub and he's accepting PRs.

Hoomin Troll November 26th, 2019
Hoomin Troll

It still remains to be seen whether this extension improves the workflow, but after a short use a glaringly stupid bug is already apparent: the app has an option to "automatically close duplicate tabs", which sounds beautiful in theory, but once enabled, it happily nukes tabs pointing to pages on the same website instead, so opening links from a listing page, say, pointing to details pages on the same website becomes elegantly impossible. Well, DUH.

It's light, simple and does exactly what I need it to. I can save windows to restore later. It's open source under the MIT license and it's got a simple and good privacy policy. It's perfect if you just need a simple manager and save tabs for later.

Organizing functions are terrible. When u try group, save, move tabs. U can't do it. Without easy and simple functions to organize ur tabs however u want, this extension can't work properly T_T But it's really good in all other way. Especially idea to store ur tabs in bookmarks.

awesome, tidy and efficient. Only thing I don't like is that I can't change the default name given to a window-group from the open tab's name, to something more meaningful to me, without saving the window-group.

Ken Gant September 22nd, 2019

Exactly what I've been looking for; I frequently need several windows open to be able to jump back and forth between references, and the tab proliferation can get out of hand. Being able to see all tabs in all windows is enough, but being able to move tabs between windows so that I can organize them ... fantastic bonus.

You did a great job, most likely I will use this extension heavily. To make it just perfect (for me :) ) it would be nice to have few neat (I think) features: 1. autoclose popup option (for both modes, inline and windowed): a) It's a bit annoying when you have extension UI opened on a window you switched from. which hide the text you need to read below it. So you need to switch back and close UI by the hotkey. and then get back to the second window :( b) in windowed mode autoclose will be handy too: you won't have another chrome window opened, so you won't switch to it while switching between Chrome windows cmd+` 2. preserve search term after tab opened, and optionally keep it (term) selected. if you searched for a broad term and opened wrong tab, you can refine it by adding more specific one ('python' -> 'python inst'). Right now, the term is just removed after you hit Enter key on a tab. Also, it would be great to have entered search term appear in all the instances of the extension UI, for the same reason: you can just refine the term you entered in another window. 3. (this can be ignored, but take a look) search terms history, the same way shell history works (another set of shortcuts may be used ctrl+up for example). 4. (this can be ignored, but take a look) vim-style navigation: ctrl+hjkl - no need to move hand to the arrow keys Anyway, thank you for a great job! :)

I'm a serious tab junkie and this tool helps me manage my tabs in a very important way. The only feature I feel is missing is a 'copy this window' button which would work similar to the main copy button but only copy the tabs in the selected window. This button would sit next to the 'Close Window' button. Thanks for a great tool.

X - Force June 9th, 2019

TL:DR - This extension is 100% legit & WILL improve your browsing experience. Excellent, well thought out tool that I now can not imagine living without. First, a little about me. I've been using computers since my C-64 which had an audio cassette tape drive, and I've been using the "net" long before there was a www.anything. It was wildcat bbs systems and muds and moos and it was glorious, interacting with people around the world. And at an incredible 300 baud. So, I have a little experience with computers, hardware, software, and the internet. In all the many years of my using Chrome and plenty of extensions, I think I have written maybe 2 reviews. I am now using Tabli 1.2.2 in Chrome Version 75.0.3770.80 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Windows 7 Pro 64bit. And .. I just HAVE to write a review for this. It is no hyperbole to say, Tabli has fundamentally changed the entire experience of the internet for me. One caveat to point out is that this transformational change would not have been possible were it not for me also installing the extension "The Great Suspender". I wouldn't call myself a "data hoarder" or a "tab hoarder". It just happens. I'm reading an article and there is a link in that article to something else .. maybe a more in depth thing about it .. or the source for it .. or there will be some other link that interests me, and so I'll right click and open them in new tabs, hoping to get to them. This "problem" I'm having is because of my insatiable intellectual curiosity and desire to learn and obtain knowledge, coupled with the fact the internet is a near infinite resource for every thing imaginable, and the fact that I have a finite amount of time to devote to the things I want to consume and learn about. But, at least I have the tabs so that maybe, someday, I can catch up on some of them, and I do .. usually at least once a day I'll dig into older tabs or pick up wherever I left off on whatever research etc. With Tabli, I can just click, get a drop down list of all tabs across all windows and even search for one by name! I can't tell you how much I love and appreciate this tool. Now, with this and the great suspender add-on, I can have it suspend every tab I haven't touched in an hour, freeing up RAM and other resources. I don't know if I'm allowed to post links here, I hope so, because I want to show you and everyone else an image where I have almost 300 tabs open across 3 windows, and I'm only consuming 47% memory (out of 16GB, granted) and using 7% of my core i7 2600K. Here it is: https://i.imgur.com/rennnZ6.jpg Previously, once I hit the 100 tab area, Chrome would just begin to become unresponsive and I would have to bookmark everything and start over. Now, I do that on my terms, when I want to. I am never forced to cease my work because of browser limitations. Thanks to you (and 2 others). What this has all accomplished for me in the end is, I no longer have to think about resources or opening tabs or any of that. I just let my mind flow and grow from one tab to the next, and what I can't get to now, I can hopefully get to later. Suspender will take care of the resources, and Tabli will keep everything organized and at hand. And also, to plug another extension .. with "History Trends Unlimitted", I never have to worry about losing anything, ever. Incremental back-ups, so 2 years from now, when I go @$*% .. what was that website?!?! I WILL be able to find it. My most sincere and humble gratitude and thanks to everyone behind Tabli. Sometimes it's just the little things in life. But, sometimes little things are big things. You've done a very big thing to this little thing, and I will never be able to thank you enough!!

While I really like your extension and find it to be better than other similar ones out there (I've tried many), I'm concerned about the permissions you request. Why do you need the following permissions? "Read your browsing history on all your signed-in devices Read and change your bookmarks" Otherwise, I would have rated it 5 stars, but as it is I'm going to stop using your extension.

Not a fan of the UI design, but functionally is pretty amazing.

i'm not sure why i didn't find tabli before - i thought i thoroughly researched this space about 6 months ago. more than once, to anyone who'd listen, i'd ask "why can't there be an app or a chrome feature that allows you to name and manage the window, INDEPENDENT of the tabs in that window?". my use case is probably not atypical. work on many jiras during the course of a day or two - the actual work behind each jira involves a 'browser window' with multiple tabs. SO FRUSTRATED that the view into those separate browsers via the Mac task bar is by the tab that has the focus. useless! now, using tabli, i just name the window / group with the jira # (and the actual jira in the first tab) and my whole world is organized, clean, and i can efficiently switch among multiple jiras. this utility saves me more than time - but little pieces of sanity throughout the day.

Finally an extension and an app I can truly enjoy. It shows a lot of information in a compact and well delimited way. I was sick to my bone of the new age monstrous bland apps that display the least amount of info possible in the most space took possible. You sir are a hero and gives me hope that such apps are still being made! THANK YOU!

No option to show all address with tab name. No option to remember last searched query. No option to sort tabs (in the list) by the "last usage" order.
