From December 16th, 2018 to March 28th, 2023, 68% user give 5-star rating, 7% user give 4-star rating, 7% user give 3-star rating, 5% user give 2-star rating, 12% user give 1-star rating. for Shinigami Eyes chrome extension.
I love that I can now more confidently tell who is already set in their ways vs who might actually be asking from a place of curiosity. I also love to see green links on creators I look up to. I wish I could more easily volunteer for/support the project because I can tell the queue for entries is slow going.
I've had this extension for a long time and often forget I'm running it, until the moment I'm grateful I am. Just had one of those moments.
this is pretty cool but theres one key problem for me, being colorblind I can't tell the difference between the red this extension uses and the default black color twitter normally uses for names. If there was some indicator other than color, or it was a more vibrant red, this would be a lot more helpful to me edit: I found a colorblind setting, it works great!!
The problem with it being crowdsourced is that often I've seen sites marked as trans-friendly/transphobic even though they're not, perhaps due to varying standards of trans-friendliness and transphobia amongst trans people and likely also due to people simply marking sites they dislike as transphobic. If it were more accurate, I might like it more; as it stands, however, it's not for me.
Extension is abandoned and there are a lot of people falsely marked red.
I really enjoy this extension because it works pretty well and has a very good motive behind it. However, there are quite a few gripes I have with this extension. 1. On Reddit's home page if you click on the drop-down menu that says "Home". When it show you the sub-reddits that you are subscribed to. It it only show them sometimes and when I hovered over them the green disappeared. 2. There's just not many people that have been identified. There are some of the obvious ones, but that's about it. I understand that this is probably die to this being a small team or even just one person. I do appreciate that users can report websites as friendly or not by right-clicking. 3. As far as I am aware that using a search engine does not show websites as friend or foe. I am not very programming inclined, so I am not sure if that is even possible to do. I use OperaGX with the chrome search engine. 4. I wish there were more options instead of yes, no, or unknown. Such as "leaning friend/anti" for places that would be spilt, but lean in any direction. "N/A" for communities that most likely would not talk about trans/lgbt people in the first place. Those are just my thoughts. Remember I do love that this exists and think if worked on for longer it can be turned into a very widespread and useful tool. I am also not a programmer and do not know how much is possible or maybe I got wrong so take it with a grain of sand.
it isn't prefect, but definitely helps out
Useful tool for blocking people who aren't worth paying attention to.
Its excellent and i am honored to be highlighted in green on my facebook account hopefully yall will do the same for my twitter one day. have a lovely day
i mean, having 4 stars when its being bombarded by terfs shows you how good it is.
It's actually hilarious seeing what links they've decided to make red and what links they've decided to make green. My favorite was the Wikipedia article for Fallout New Vegas being selected as "t-friendly", and the Wikipedia article for the first Mexican-born congresswoman being "anti-trans". If you're afraid of transphobia in a Wikipedia article, that's sad, but hilariously so. Also I love how fitting the name is! On average, Trans lives are 50% shorter, just like in the anime!
Love it, gives you a heads up that you should fact check the red links bias.
This is such a dumb extension. It almost never shows up for me and when it does it doesn't have any evidence as to what the person said or did to get them their rating. But hey, why write a review when this is obvious to anyone who uses the extension for a week. Keep operating off of "this person is infected with transphobia" and we'll never get anywhere. Take the initiative and actually talk to people, and if you don't want to talk to them don't. None of this mob mentality sludge.
Good for what it does but I've slowly witness it makes people become *very* lazy in checking media personalities and/or pages for other forms of bigotry or harmful behavior. This is no fault of the extension itself and I can't fault it for doing what it does. It being treated as a catch-all when it's clearly not meant to is a problem of the wider community. I most notice this when trying to recall users with a history of (mostly anti-black) racism. Like "Yeah this person is trans-friendly but also a massive racist." Sadly there is not option to have that taken into cosideration when marking users as "friendly (if you're white)".
All i suggest is r/196 should be added as trans approved.
It's fun to see what certain people think about other people, I guess. If you are even slightly nuanced on the issue, you'll probably find some people you agreed with are marked as transphobic though, including people who obviously aren't. Anyway, long live the immortal science of TIRFism!
Good for people who want to visit the red sites and avoid the green ones, too :)
CTOS but good
this extension gets a W from me
Took half of my lifespan but it was still worth it
It's moreso a relic of the past made at a very convinent time. It's now pretty outdated, and I have seen a couple of red linked people or publications or groups don't even have a history of being outed as transphobic or are clearly marked due to personal restraints. Additionally, a lot of transphobic people and groups are still not linked as red - the github clearly shows there might still be people working on this extension but I doubt it. It's moreso a personal tool now, to be used to indicate which people you might be more comfortable with and more uncomfortable towards - this means YOU have to ACTIVELY search for transphobia in order to prevent yourself from interacting with them (yikes). As an actual tool for trans people or trans allies? I don't think it's ideal to use this to help you or people anymore unfortunately.
this is seriously one of the best extensions ever. as a genderfluid person, its really helpful to know what accounts to avoid, honestly a lifesaver.
Wish I knew about this sooner. Makes it easy to identify the transphobes including the transphobic 'transmeds' (I prefer the other term)
It's really helpful and I use it a lot, but lately it has been glitching on tumblr. But I think that's tumblr's fault.
I liked the sound of this plugin but it doesn't do what it claims to. It's divided on political lines regardless of whether the user is T-friendly or not.
Extraordinarily useful and important tool for addressing some of the transphobic, queerphobic, homophobic, and related forms of anti-LGBTQIA+ and otherwise prejudicial and reactionary forms of hate and bigotry that all too often permeate online spaces such as on social networks/media! Thank you so much devs/creators for offering this resource to the online LGBTQIA+ and ally community for free! ♥♥♥⚥⚥⚥♥♥♥
it doesnt really work at all i know how to work it out like at all i try to get help but that doesnt really help
Absolutely essential for trans people using the internet.
Very good! I'm nb, so it helps a lot on websites. Plus I'm glad it goes through moderation first if you tag someone/someone gets tagged, so people can't just mass-tag a person as transphobic or trans-friendly.
buggy, doesn't hold names
Super useful extension that is a huge time saver. As a professional software developer, I'm also impressed by the quality of the (openly available) source code in terms of privacy, efficiency and resistance to abuse. You can check it yourself on GitHub with a bit of programming knowledge. It hashes all keys and doesn't send ANY information except what's needed to save the markings, and all communication is encrypted. Great work!
i'm so happy that i'll be able to immediately avoid any terfs/anti-lgbt people. i didn't discover this until today and i wish i found it so much sooner. thank you for making this.
can you include twitch channels in this?
Very helpful
very useful with avoiding transphobic people/groups! can have some false marks sometimes, however.
Minimise harm to everyone by identifying social media accounts to avoid without having to trawl every timeline to check for transphobia and homophobia before retweeting unrelated content - thus avoiding signal boosting transphobes unwittingly. Easy to use, shame it isn't possible to do on Chrome for Android but will see if the FF extension works on IceRaven browser :)
Tool to spread hate. I absolutely love finding myself on witch-hunting lists, this is totally not a violation of my privacy at all....
Fantastic extension, major kudos and thanks to the developer(s)!
Very simple, functional and non-intrusive at identifying transphobic content. It doesn't place any blocks to accessing or using such content; it merely provides a simple warning, which can be extremely helpful in avoiding hate speech. Unfortunately, it appears detractors have appeared in the reviews here, seemingly trying to skew ratings by identifying non-issues with the app's functionality, especially by misreporting its trans content measures or privacy/security. But even if free speech were truly at stake here, which it is not, hate speech is indeed not protected in many jurisdictions and really ought not to be. Said another way, simply having measures of potential hate speech itself hardly constitutes any violation of individual rights or, indeed, violates privacy laws, as hate speech as (1) public information is not explicitly protected and (2) itself often causes free speech protections to lose effect. But, hey, haters will hate.
Super helpful !
does what it says on the tin. sucks that transphobes and transmeds are review-bombing this. because how dare a group of people not want to interact with people they know hate them. anyway good stuff, would reccomend.
I'm nonbinary and using this helps me feel safer on the internet- I never wanna accidently support a bigot!
Works well for it's purpose but it's name is extremely unfortunate. In order to get Shinigami Eyes in Death Note you have to give up 50% of your lifespan. Considering how people make jokes about the trans suicide rate being nearly 50%... very poor name choice.
It doesnt show up when i right-click any links. It only shows up when i right click on something other than a link, but then it just says "(please right click on a link instead)". I've done everything I can think of but it just doesnt work. One star until that gets resolved.
Always helpful to have.
Love it <3
Been using this extension for over a year now and it makes my internet experience so much better. Thank you!
Best extension I use, saves me a lot of time and hassle. Goodbye transphobes!
Incredibly helpful to avoid transphobes
Would be great if this extended to more than just transphobia, but it serves the purpose it was made for.
Love this app. It's an absolute must if you're trans and spend anytime on Social Media. Colour codes explicitly trans friendly accounts and explicitly anti-trans accounts on things like Twitter. If you're a cis ally, thank you and recommend you install this too.
Wonderful extension, thank you!
This app is honestly such a lifesaver. Browsing the internet is a much safer experience thanks to the app and its userbase, and it's done a world of good for me when I've been through some rough times in my life and sought out hateful content as a means of psychological self-harm. It's helped me avoid it and focus on LGBT friendly sources!
i accidentally marked something and am not sure how to undo it or if i can because i dont want to waste anyone's time reviewing a completely irrelevant comment because i do not own a brain! but it is useful so far
it really doesnt have that big of a database cause i looked up multiple conservative subreddits and it didnt even mark them
So far I had no problem with this extension, and it was very helpful in identifying trans- and LGBTQIA+ -friendly, as well as trans- and LGBTQIA+ -phobic userpages and sites. I am thankful such extension exists.
It can be a good tool but it's extremely easy to manipulate to make inaccurate results. Seriously if you felt like it you can go to a person's channel that you hate and just mark it as transphobic. Wild.
No doubt this is a really useful extension, but unfortunately it only seems to be using one colour (light blue) for both trans-friendly and transphobic accounts, making it functionally useless. I tried changing the colour schemes for both Twitter itself and this extension and neither worked. I want to use this but at the moment it isn't working for me.
It does serve an ok purpose for quick reference but it doesnt leave any real way to input why people are marked one way or another so theres no point of reference for anyone making it a bit of a clunky way of marking allies and anti-trans individuals.
cool extension
love getting marked as red because i accidentally reblogged from someone when im literally trans myself! thanks for encouraging witch hunts xoxo go play in traffic
it's great!
Great for cutting out bigots like faux rad feminists before they bother to you. The flagging is based on public info so no it is not illegal, just pointing out people who are awful.
as a trans person, this is super helpful !! would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to avoid terfs/transmeds/transphobes in general :]
Great app that has helped me avoid amplifying the messages of transphobic and TERFy accounts online.
It's great to easily recognize and avoid people who blindly support gender ideology and are opposed to critical thinking. The only drawback is that there's no way to flip the colors around and highlight those people in red.
super helpful, though i have seen several people seemingly falsely flagged. imperfect, but i do still have it on all my devices
Great for finding gender critical people and radfems to follow, they're the ones in red usually.
a great way to have peace of mind while on the tl :) thank you for making this !
interesting concept but it isnt working properly for me. also could be easily abused by transphobes which isnt really the best. but otherwise nice idea
while seeing transphobes highlighted in red is useful albeit depressing, every time i see an account highlighted in green i can't help smiling.
I love this extension, humans! I - don't know how many people are behind this. Sorry. People shouldn't ever take things at face value, the colors certainly aren't a /concrete/ assessment of whose pro and who isn't, but it's definitely helpful in finding out what they might be inclined to, and looking at them a little bit more than I would've otherwise. I definitely appreciate the ability to mark them as friendly or not, though I'm pretty sure I forget more than I actually do that, too. You're doing great work!
I'm sure it's great for people who aren't trying to use it on a chromebook. It won't let me mark anything as trans-friendly.
found this thru tumblr, works great!
One of my favorite extensions by far. It's non-intrusive; I hardly remember I have it installed sometimes. I'm pleasantly surprised when I see people that I follow have their username suddenly turn green. Not as surprised but relieved to see them turn red, so that I know what to expect from them if I tell them about my girlfriend. It would be great if there was more to it, but I installed it for one thing, and it does that one job flawlessly. It's a great extension, I highly recommend it.
Really handy to have a way to avoid sources and accounts that are hateful. I like that reports have to be verified so people can't abuse it, and it seems much harder to use it to start drama or tear down others that you just don't like the way blockchains can sometimes be used. Great extension!
Really thankful for this extension. I'm so exhausted having to personally read through transphobic posts on different sites to know if someone is transphobic. Super helpful for avoiding toxic or hurtful communities/blogs/etc.
Works extremely well.
Very helpful extension. I don't want to put myself in way's harm by entering a transphobic space so this is a great way to get a warning about different groups, subreddits, ect. And the transmeds in the reviews that are mad they mark transmedicialism: I've been in your headspace, i used to believe in transmed stuff. I used to support kalvin garrah. Luckily, i had a friend who was willing to educate me and i was willing to genuinely look at opposing information. I recommend that the transmeds in the reveiws calm themselves, and really look at their beliefs critically. Look at the similarities between your rhetoric and terf rhetoric. Basically: The extension isn't transphobic, you're just uneducated
great app to know at a glance whether someone you may interact with on line is transphobic or not. definitely an extension that doesnt hurt to have at all!
Great plugin that does its job however it conflicts with Vivaldi causing pages to go dead randomly even ones that don't have markers on them.
hey, angry transmedicalists: I used to be one of you, I hope you come to understand that your beliefs are transphobic and even dangerous to other trans people, like I did. as for the potential EU legality: being flagged on this is not your personal information.
This extension is extremely accurate with the blogs it highlights, over several months of use it has only flagged one false positive. I highly recommend it.
This is a nice extension, but is there a way where we could adapt this for other things? Some people have suggested that this be adapted to blacklist ace/arophobes, and I personally would like to make an application that marks MAP supporters as Twitter and Tumblr have problems with MAPs.
I absolutely love this extension and am currently using and contributing to it! I was so impressed with how it performs I actually attempted to make my own version, where people would be able to mark ace/aro-friendly and ace/aro-phobic sites and people; unfortunately, I don't know how to code and trying left me even more lost. I was wondering, however, if you would be able to explain to me how exactly you made such an amazing add-on for browsers? Or if that would be something that you are interested in creating yourself? The reason I'm asking is because I do see a need for such add-ons to help others and myself identify what's safe for us and what's not.
This is a good extension! Definitely useful for avoiding transphobic and generally lgbtphobic people, though I can't help but feel this could be abused by someone as a cruel joke or something. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Also it marks transmeds, which is great!
It literally marks trans people as transphobic. People use the app to target people whom disagree with popular opinion. Im trans myself, this is idiotic because it literally targets trans people whom just have differing (nonviolent mind you) opinions on trans issues. Not a good app.
Delightful.
This extension is so good! I really appreciate it and how widespread it seems to be so almost everywhere i go I can be notified about people I can trust!
Great tool for radical feminists to help find other radical feminists! Your tool just helped us gather together more easily :)
just leaving this here to counteract the radfems bombing it
Been using for a while now, I do appreciate the protection as well as the fact that each report is checked, to prevent false reports. This works well, and pairs well with the block button :)
It's a LOT easier than going through profiles one by one on Tumblr. It makes me feel a lot safer as a trans person.
Truscum are all still transphobes, for all the people whining in the comments about this extension being mean. :) Externalizing your internal transphobia because another trans person doesn't fit your idea of a "real trans person" is just as bad as a complete dunce of a transphobe. This is a pretty good extension, so thank you for making this. I can browse the places I like without worrying I'll accidentally run into someone who holds negative views towards me just for existing.
doesn't work (highlights people who are clearly trans/trans-supportive and fails to highlight bigots) this is pretty harmful and can cause a lot of issues.
An awful, idiotic extension used to separate the trans community. Hates on transmeds.
as the marking of trans-friendly and anti-trans is entirely up to the users to regulate it's easy for this tool to be abused. That said it's still very useful in knowing before you interact with something online that it might contain transphobic ideology so i would recommend it all the same
This extension, while well-intentioned, presents several risks to the people it intends to serve and may be in violation of EU law. The extension uses some CSS manipulation to color social media profiles on various sites (Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Tumblr) as green to indicate that they are “trans friendly”. Risks to transgender people: 1: Trans people may end up on the “trans friendly” list without their knowledge or consent. 2: Anyone using the extension might assume that anyone tagged as “trans friendly” is transgender themselves. This will certainly contribute to outing some vulnerable people before they are ready, and without their being aware of it. 3: The alt-right, 4chan, trolls, and transphobic people in general could use the extension to compile lists of people to use as targets of online harassment, bullying, outing, doxxing, cyberstalking, and even physical assault. This is extremely likely to happen, in fact, as some of those people are already aware of it. Also, this extension may be illegal under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679, as it collects and processes user personal data without consent and stores it in a centralized database.
10/10 would recommend to a friend on tinder
I really like this, but it would be really cool if you could make either another version or add-on for ace exclusionists or any exclusionists. I really wanna use this to mark those people, but a lot of people are telling me not to and it's really bothering me.
This extension supports tagging people who claim the label "transmedicalist," which are people who are trying to raise awareness of the definition of gender dysphoria, and push for it to be more fully covered by insurance companies. There are a lot of people who are offended at the phrase "gender dysphoria is required to be trans," which is quite frankly bizarre, considering they're interchangeable terms. It only enables people to continue spreading the message that being transgender is a casual lifestyle choice, and cosmetic. These people also claim that everyone who says they're transmedicalist is dangerous and transphobic, which is also really bizarre, considering people don't latch onto the negative examples of feminism as an excuse to dismiss the feminist philosophy. It's cherry picking and helping make the LGBT issues worse. 0/10, 100% transphobic itself
Awesome app to identify and avoid transphobes online.
First of all, this extension is fantastic! I love that I'm able to spot pesky transphobic blogs without using Tumblr's broken search system only on posts that I already have suspicions about. However, I would like to note that if you have any amount of red/green colorblindness, this extension would likely not be useful without an update to allow the user to change the colors.
This is exactly what Ryuk would want. 10/10.
Fantastic
Great way to stay safe. Funny name, too.
Great idea for an extension. It said that a bit of the relevant post was submitted with the marking, so when I tried to mark the specific Philosophy Tube video about transphobia as pro trans, it marked all YouTube videos as pro-trans. I had to undo that obviously. I did figure out how to mark just the channel, but it would be great if marking a video marked the channel rather than all YouTube videos.
