The description seemed just what I was looking for so I installed it. I open it and the left pane looks like a document editor not an audio editor. When I try to open a file, it seems to be looking at Linux files, not my Chromebook files. What a complete disappointment!
Completely useless. The screen is so minimized you can't even see the track well enough to edit. It's like trying to run an antiquated DOS program on your cell phone, actually that might work better.
Wow, it's true, this is useless. I got it to "run" and play the sample sound file. I could tolerate the GUI embedded in the Linux emulator. However, it in not way will recognize a Recording, or input device. I didn't check about existing files. However, Recording, is the ONLY reason I had this Chromebook and for Audacity since used it for years quite successfully with hundreds of songs published all over. I read the app control about USB devices and this newly released Chrombook has three and one of each "type" - it recognized none. How? does one use a DAW? a USB port. The "mic" on the Chromebook? Even that didn't work. So? - Don't off useless apps Chrome Web Store or make them fix them? OMG!
Absolute garbage. It may as well not exist. It can't record, it won't play audio, it won't do anything. Google Web store may as well take it off of its platform because this is a waste of a download.
JFC, from the other reviews I can already tell this works like eating soup by stabbing the broth (i.e. it doesn't). I'm calling it now that everyone who rated it more than 3 stars is either a bot or artificially raising the review rating. These idiots plastered ads everywhere, pretty much making the thing worthless. From other reviews I can tell they used the oldest version of Audacity to copypaste ads all over considering how others say this is impossible to import files into. Deleting this extension permanently, the creator site also asks for notification permission which I'm betting is just to plaster even more garbage ads all over your browser. Christ, this sucks.
I finally figured out how to import my audio file, and it only pulled up one second. This was so infuriating to use.
Little lagging other then that works 0v0
Works well, I will tell you in order for it actually serve it's purpose you must go to the home section on the app and upload your files from there, then launch audacity to actually use and edit them. When your done from there, save from audacity to those files and download it from the home section in the app again. It's a weird process, but at least it works..
Its Not bad its real sophisticated but over all its good job i recommend you do more like this like windows stuff
Ads covered important parts of the screen, making it extremely difficult to use.
it is quite helpful.
It doesn't work at all
Its does not work at all I cant press record
This is amazing! It works! The first and only Audacity online!
Total garbage. Doesn't work like the actual program. Impossible to figure out.
Bad...
It's just terrible. This software is not good for Chromebooks, but considering the fact that it is good for anything else in the world really, I'll average it out to 3 stars.
Fun fact if you get Crossover, and then download the REAL Audacity for windows, just install it on there.
Terrible. A bunch of software that is difficult to use and doesn't work well, covererd in adverts.
Audacity is just Awsome
I couldn't import a .wav file into Sound Editor or Audio Editor. I finally figured out how to import into Audacity. (Click on File Manager. In the upper right is a toolbar where you can upload your file. There is also a message about setting a password to protect files which I did not try). After your file is uploaded you can click on Audacity and run it like the desktop version. The problem is that the program is constrained to a tiny area - you can not enlarge it to fullscreen - which makes editing a challenge.
it works
I can easily edit audio just like it said, but after I'm done editing the audio, I got this weird "crunchy" sound in it. I don't understand why this happened. I just duplicated the audio. This has happened to me twice when using this site.
Everything about this app is old. I can't figure out how to record or upload. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
the editing is nice but it doesn't download to your normal file box, along with when you are trying to fix audio that only goes into one ear and you switch it to mono it fixes it but when you go through the swapping files nonsense it doesn't keep the mono speaker switch
Not the same program as it is on other systems. Doesn't work as well as it should and can't handle real editing projects just a few files.
does not work.
Too many blessed ads. I can't see what I'm doing.
It's a full SCAM. The import system is the worst part. It makes NO SENSE. We should just be able to pull songs from our files. I was trying to make a song nightcore but I couldn't because the system was too confusing. Don't download. It's also the same thing as other apps.
You can't even add music from your Chromebook!
It stopped working after about a few years so I basically stopped using it altogether after I discovered what a piece of garbage it really is so if I could rate 0 stars out of 5 stars that would be my vote.
Loved the features but couldn't figure out how to access files securely, or connect to dropbox as per instructions. When using the public file storage my import worked, but the export didn't save any of the edits - just another copy of the exact same file. I love the audacity software, and this web version has so much potential when working on systems that don't let software be installed, but needs some clearer instructions and better options for file storage/upload/download. Why isn't it connected to Google drive when its a Google chrome plugin? Sadly, useless for what it claims to do.
Literally couldn't do ANYTHING
Doesnt work. Along with pretty much every other audio editing stuff in chrome store. Not surprised.
i couldnt find out how too use it, i tried clicking help but it just gave me an error. And it wouldnt let me do anything other than listen
Quite simply does not record. I have a very powerful mac pro and fully updated chrome web browser. I only tried this app to test how it might work on a chromebook. It doesn't work on my mac at all. The audacity program works on my mac just fine. It is definitely the extension that is faulty.
It just won't do anything :(
sucks doesnt work on my chrome book
The ads on the side made it hard to use correctly and it didn't work well even when I zoomed in on the app
Useless. Added fine and played the sample ok. recording failed everytime. Even maximising could crash the browser.
Ive used Audacity for years. One app I've got on with. Love it to bits
it was pretty simple to use but has a weird buzzing sound if you have high notes or clapping
DOESN'T WORK
is the best :P
doesn't work on my chromebook either.. plus the fact that it's so small you can hardly see anything unless you've got super great eye sight! super waste of time!
I can't even try using it on my Chromebook. If importing a file is even possible, it's extremely difficult. FFmpeg? LAME? Hey, I didn't just graduate from MIT, okay?
Doesn't work on my chromebook
this is so awesome and cool thx
While an interesting idea you need a big screen to use it. On my Chromebook and laptop I cannot read the text in the programs. Without the bars around the program it might be usable.
it does not work
Pretty Buggy
It works!
It doesn't run offline.
very glitchy
