You may think that this is a petty review from a teenager who thinks they know everything, and you might be right. However, you could also be wrong. I barely had this app for a day, and my phone already doesn't work. It broke my whole phone down to where I couldn't even talk to my friends or text anyone without having to wait about 1 to 3 hours before having my message either being or not delivered. I also couldn't use the majority of my apps because they were stuck loading forever. It got so bad to where I am having to go to my computer to do things I should be able to do on my phone. Before I got bark, my phone was very responsive and fast, however after it was significantly slow. Their website claims that their app "only slows down internet speeds in minor ways". This is not true whatsoever. I should also add that setting up bark is an over-excessive pain. Their customer service was also unresponsive. They should not charge the amount that they do for a shabby app.

Ok so, my parents put Bark on my Chromebook and it really just made grow apart from my parents. I understand that this is just trying to keep me safe, but it will flag the stupidest little things ever! Also I can't go on any websites now like Amazon. It's so dumb! Now I'm just afraid to talk to my friends because my parents can see every little thing that is flagged. Also if I'm on a group chat with one person that I don't have saved in my contacts it flags it, I might have just not saved them, this app/extension is also making my Chromebook work way slower. This gives me ZERO PRIVACY with my parents, like some things I just DON'T want to share with them. I don't feel ok with my parents looking at everything I search/watch/post. It also can see what you search in incognito mode. I'm not so sure I'm right about this but... I don't think it matters what device you're on, as long as you linked the account you're using right then, it can flag what you see. Thank you for reading this, have a great day/night.

To be honest, this app isn't as horrible as people in the reviews say. I've never experienced any kind of hack or glitch that was caused by this, and i've had this for about 6-7 years tops. I do believe that this app isn't the best, though. It's good when you write down the idea on a sheet of paper, but the app is not a very good program in general.The app is trigger happy, and most people feel like they don't have privacy from using it on personal devices. I do want to say, I've never felt any disruption in my privacy, since this was never used on any of my personal devices. I do think that some problems with this app could be fixed easily, though, but I'm not absolutely sure they can work or be coded easily. But one big thing about this app that I despise... THE REVIEWS. I do think that a couple of 1 star reviews are actually reliable, but any other reviews don't feel helpful in any kind of way. Some of these reviews are kids whining about "ME PARENTS WATCH AND ME NO LIKE THAT' or "APP GAVE ME VIRUS DON'T DOWNLOAD," but to be honest, those reviews are getting annoying, since I have gotten no kind of virus out of using this program, and I haven't made my parents breathe down my neck just to see what I'm looking up. (I'm not a saint, btw.) If people did get a virus, It might have not been bark that's been the source of the virus. I've also seen people complain about "SCHOOL DOWNLOAD THIS AND ME NO LIKE" I mean, the school devices are still school property... They don't want you to look up anything that's suggestive. Overall, I think this app is survivable, but could use some changes.

this is the worst app tha tcould exist on the market along with life 360, its horrible most teens cant even have a conversation with their friends without it being marked as violence and such it wont even let you swear which is pretty terrible for an app designed for pre-teens and actual teenagers. parents if you want a good relationship with your kid do NOT GET THIS APP!!!! Very buggy and took up a lot of space. Gave my computer a virus and it loaded slower.

This is the worst possible extension to exist. This should be removed. I understand schools using this but the thing is that you get ZERO PRIVACY. Parents also use this. This can be helpful BUT you should be able to trust your child. Using this extension as a parent to secretly watch your child is a VERY bad idea. I say this because it make your child try to hide things from you. They will end up not trusting you. I swear that some people need to respect their children's privacy. Like I said earlier, this should be DELETED IMMEADENTLY, along with any other Bark extensions.

So... Back when I was a fifth grader, my school decided to put this on my school account, which I was like, "Oh, just a harmless little extension to monitor me," but I was wrong. I was watching some Apex Legends videos on Youtube, and ended up getting flagged for violence.Nothing is personal for me anymore, and I feel like I always have a bootleg developer watching me. I am so insecure, I have even put tape over my webcam. I do, in fact understand that the school wants to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong, and I was fine with that, up until it glue itself to my personal email. I don't know how it got there, but now I can't do anything anymore because I can't research stuff due to restrictions, can't play games, watch videos on Youtube, or even send texts or messages without getting flagged. My PC AND LAPTOP got bricked because of viruses caused by this retarded program. - A Boiling 6th Grader

It works to monitor me and my sister, and even though it's not my favorite thing I still respect Bark's developers for keeping me safe.

This App is the worse thing to happen to me in a long time. My parents put this on my device & linked all my stuff. This has absolutely ruined my social life.I had friends that I can't even talk to anymore because of this apps stupid restrictions. My parents treat me like a five year old who doesn't know how to make his own decisions. I'm 15 nearly 16 and they're just now deciding to get this app right as I have an actual social life. God, I've never hated my parents more. If any parents are reading this. Find a better way. No kid or teenager is gonna be okay with you just accessing everything they have. Don't treat your kids like belongings. They aren't just people that live in your house for you to tell what to do. This app will ruin any relationship you may have with your kids. I hate my parents now and can just never work up the gut to say it to their face. The only reason I haven't just left the house is because I can't drive yet. Screw this app. It's an invasion of privacy and any parent who gets this is a terrible parent who would rather know everything their kid is doing than just teaching them better.

ok so i don't have bark, but my parents got it for my phone and i HATE what it's done. like literally anything REMOTELY questionable gets "flagged". and even if it's not questionable. like it flagged like ABREVIATIONS for cuss words or phrases. like wt... and Lm... like honestly. Now i guess in some senses it's made me smarter, but im not really sure that's a good thing. like i still talk about the same stuff, its just iv'e taken those conversations off screen/devices/the internet. it's annoying because there are a ton of funny things, nonharmful, not offensive, not necessarily pg or clean things that i can't say/pin/post/look up anymore. at best bark is annoying, and at worst, it...its even more annoying is the most i can say without gettting "flagged"

it says it only alerts ur parents if u do something "bad". that means its actually watching u and ur privacy is out the window. it doesn't even deserve 1 star, it deserves 0! ur parents wanna keep you safe but reading emails and search history, even what u watch on youtube is a horrible invasion of privacy. i mean, what do ur parents thing ur gonna do, watch pc0r4n?? ur probably gonna watch a Minecraft video or something. this makes me feel like my parents don't trust me and think im dumb. pls remove it from the chrome web store. thx :D

this has actually broken my phone I don't have any mobile data even when the settings were flipped to give it back to me through bark. Im 14 and my stepdad installed it on my phone to see if im doing anything ileagle outside of the house aside from it doing its job it has broken the devices that it has been put on dont use

My mother installed this whole thing when I was 15, and I still have it installed on my devices despite the fact that I am almost a legal adult. I get the idea, I really do. But this app completely destroyed my trust in my mom for a while. She tried to install it secretly (one of the perks of being tech savvy is a know when something is up with my phone), and pretended not to know anything about it when I brought it up. I have friends with severe mental illnesses, and they come to me sometimes for support. Since I've had this installed it feels wrong to let my friends talk to me because I know that my mother will end up seeing it. I feel like I have to watch everything I do, because I don't know what gets "flagged". I talked with my therapist about it and even she thinks it's a bit excessive. I get parent's concern with safety online, but there are better ways to do it.

My school downloaded this onto my computer without my consent (making it spyware btw) and now everything I do gets sent to my parents and I did not even notice until my parents got mad at me for "not doing my work" even though I did. Now I am afraid to talk to my friends online because this thing takes screen shots of my activity.

I have read a ton of the comments and can understand what these people are coming from. they have every reason to be mad and disappointed in there parents. that does not make the app totally unless though. in my situation, my parents have a problem with trust regarding to being on the computer when i'm in school and i'm going through a difficult time with them. I think that monitoring my online activity will help resolve an otherwise unresolvable situation. you may continue to hate on this app, but only if you had a bad experience with it yourself. And Medziaga, please try to understand the situation from others point of view before judging them for thier need to share thier experiences and make it so no one has to go through it themselves. you are probably just some helicopter parent yourself and from now on you shall be known as Karen. I read through a couple of the reviews, and my problem is simple: I have to go to the desktop to download/install it for it to work on mobile, and yet it still doesn't allow me to scroll Google without breaking itself every tap and swipe. I understand that these reviews are mainly from school-enforced downloads, but I just want it to work and not have a nervous breakdown every new pixel it generates.

The extension is invading our privacy. Isn't there a human right about this or something. As well as there's a virus that comes with it. Also it has reported to sell your information while using extension.

To all the parents calling us immature children: Oh please, We all have our own opinions and so do you. Just as we are sharing ours, you are as well. Our feelings are still valid even though we are still kids. The Parental restrictions on this app are insane and are invading my privacy, causing my mental health to suffer. Parents just need to learn the word "privacy" and we would be golden. I don't want my mom reading all of my private convos because they are PRIVATE. Private convos should stay private. You just need to let your kid know that if they ever feel uncomfortable with something on the internet then they should come and tell you. You shouldn't rely on some (sorry to say) easily hackable app to tell you more than what your kid is comfortable with you knowing. And, To be honest, If they aren't uncomfortable with it why does it matter. We are WAY more tech savvy than you probably are and we do find ways around it. Chances are, if you talk to your kid about something that the app notified you about then i will probably drive a wedge in your relationship with your kid. If your kid's message is flagged as "depression" and their talking about their mental health to someone who is really listening then please leave it alone. They will only stop taking to the person that they were relying on and their mental health could get even worse by not having an outlet. Well, That concludes my rant I know that it was really long but I feel like it had to be said. I am speaking from my experience and my experience only so please don't tell me "Well my kid, bill, feels much safer now" or " My daughter, Emma, was really grateful". Thank you for your time. I get that this is for schools and parents to monitor. But personally, this was from school. It downloads itself to my PERSONAL email and devices. It's literally looking at my personal email for my business and it doesn't make me feel safe in the slightest. And I can't even remove it from my personal devices. I was like "Okay, it checks for inappropriate things" Which would HAVE to look at everything else you search and look at. But when it said "Knows your email address" Wouldn't it apparently know your password too because it's moderating? I'm fine with it being on my school email. But the line is where it is in my PERSONAL email too. If theres a way to remove it from my personal devices, let me know, because this is not okay. - Sophomore

This completely ruins privacy! This is possibly the WORST app for schools and parental use! Half the time it doesn't do anything! And half the time it blocks my friends from watching videos like DanTDMs and other family friendly youtubers! This extension sucks, dont get it!

from a 13 year olds point of view: my mom put this on all my devices. i have not done anything wrong and it makes me upset that she does not trust me. this had broken our trust. it reports something to her every day that is marked as "bullying" or "violence" when im joking with my friends. its like i cant even have a normal conversation without something being sent to my mom. this has made me stop texting my two friends as much and i never see them in person anymore. i feel really distanced from them and often i feel alone. i usally just listen to music- oh wait. i cant even listen to music with out it being reported to my parents for cuss words or something stupid. if youre a parent please please do not get this if you want your relationship with your kids to last.

i really do not like this. i understand that my parents want to keep me safe, but it almost feels like they're stalking me. i have friends who want to email me and talk to me about real life problems, and bark completely ruins my social life. my friends can't talk to me because they don't feel safe. i really wish that it could just censor out the big stuff, like p/rn, s/xual stuff, and r/pe, etc. all the trigger stuff, ya know? but i really just hate that it ruins my social life. i'm a good student and child in general, and i feel like my parents don't trust me. it really breaks relationships with parents as well as with friends, because i feel like my parents don't trust me and stuff like that. anyway, thanks to anyone who read my rant.

I think this was made for good use but came out in a different way. I downloaded the extension to test it on my other pc. My experience with it was horrible for many reasons. First of all you get no privacy and tracks all your data which i don't know what they do with it. I heard some people have it because there school put it on their extensions which blocks all other content even though its your pc/laptop. If you want to research information, i have sad news for you you can't because most websites are blocked and takes you 20 minutes to find a resource instead of Wikipedia. My computer got a virus and i had to powerwash/factory reset it, which took 30 minutes. I really think again that it was intended for good use but got the opposite result.

An absolute invasion of personal space and privacy. This is THE app for all helicopter parents trying to pretend they aren't. The app says that it picks up alerts for your child, but it is WAY too sensitive. Even if you say "kick" or "punch" it shows up as an alert and sends it to your email. It calls itself a "guard dog", when its really more like a yipping chihuahua going berserk every time anyone sneezes. This app is absolute garbage, and kids will resent their parents for putting it on their devices in the first place. Calm down, Karens, and stop being helicopter moms.

Parents got it for me, I understand that they need to make sure I'm safe but by taking away EVERYTHING? I understand that some sites are not good and I agreed with them that we should get an app that blocks those things but now I can't even talk with my friends about personal things without my parents knowing. It ruins my social life to the point where I have to send overly cryptic messages. I don't even know if bark is telling my parents what I'm doing right now. It makes me scared and overly paranoid to the point were I get unneeded anxiety over it.

parents downloaded this on all of my devices and synced it to all of my accounts. i understand that they want to monitor me, but they've become helicopter parents at this point. i can't even talk to close friends about my problems without my parents seeing it. they get mad at me when i complain about my lack of privacy, as well. i do not like the idea of a bunch of strangers who created this program seeing everything i do and say online. it's very unsettling.

Last year, my school added this to all of our school and privately owned devices. This is ridiculous because if you have a private device, it should be yours without the school forcefully installing a bunch of spyware that reads your emails and logs you passwords. (Luckily on Windows machines Bark is fairly easy to forcefully remove.) Their claims of "best in class encryption" are also bogus. If it was the "best encryption", then even the world's best computer could not break the encryption it would be so strong. If this company ever had a data breach, hundreds of thousands of kids would have their information leaked on the internet. On a side note, if you use 2FA (2 Factor Authentication), Bark cannot access your social media if you have it enabled. - A disgruntled 7th grader

This extension is the scummiest thing out there. my right to privacy has been completely ignored as "bark for chrome" can see everything I am typing, including this here review. I have heard it will install on every device with my school google account on it, and I will check my pc when I get home. This extension goes against my 4th amendment rights, which is not OK. now I would understand if a business required employees to use it, because they are a private business and the employees can quit if they don't like it, but it is used by my school, which is a GOVERNMENT facility! In conclusion, this app mega gay. Nooner Gooner out.

This should not be legal. People you don't even know are seeing your passwords, personal information, and even watching you through your camera. DO NOT GET IF YOU WANT PRIVACY. I was working on a school project and was on a website getting a bunch of information and one hour later a man wearing all black nocked on my front door.

Look, when the school gives you a school owned computer you already should have no expectations of privacy if you look in your school's handbook you will most probably see something that says that outright. Although I hate even being associated with this program, I have to admit although students loathe it it does it's job.

Thanks school, now I have no privacy. "Bark" for chrome literally blocks me from my favorite youtube videos because it has POSSIBLY one curse word in it. This tells the Admins what you are doing, and it needs to stop. This is not something that should deny access to personal life. This is not safe. It gave all my school computers a virus. There is a key logger program in the extension that tracks your history but also shows your password ect. This also takes the privacy of people away and that is not something I respect in the slightest. This should not be on the chrome store.

My school added this without the student's knowledge to all our school accounts. I am a good student and am in multiple school programs. I had to have really keen attention as to what I had downloaded to notice this. It's an invasion of privacy I have no choice in. All my emails are monitored. This makes me feel like if I search for something remotely inappropriate, I'll get in trouble. This interferes my my PRIVATE life. My life that has nothing to do with school.

This program is not safe and should not be used on any school computer. Ever!
