Very nice tool. I am scraping data multiple pages deep quite successfully (eg. I am selecting links on a "contents" page and the tool follows the links and records the specific data I want from deeper pages). It helps if you know how to use CSS Selectors. I am a programmer and I could write something in a couple of afternoons to do what I want at a basic level, but this tool allowed me to create the scraper very quickly and simply. In my usage pattern, I run the scraper weekly (to collect property sales data), export the data as a csv then import it into a google sheet (which allows appending). Works extremely well. The visual element selector allows you to quickly see what the CSS selectors are picking up. The website I'm scraping recently changed some of their HTML code, breaking one of the selectors, but in a few minutes I used this tool to identify what had changed and I could easily fix the problem. Thank you for your work guys! Also, the paid version lets you run the scraper in the cloud (like if you want to schedule it to run automatically). I haven't had a need to use this, I can do what I want quite well with the free version. People who are scraping for businesses purposes and who have multiple sites they need to regularly scrape would likely benefit from the paid version. One other thing, I had the sitemap (the definition of all the selectors for the scraper) on my work computer and I needed to transfer it to my personal computer. The tool's sitemap export allowed me to easily export and then re-import on the other computer! Great tool!

Pure trash, worthless

This is really the best tool I have ever seen. Noob people can not use it, to utilize it properly you have to be skilled. Just a few problems I found are that some websites have high protection to stop scrapping, This tool sometimes does not run for those sites. But maximum site it works fine. Love it. Love this team Thanks a lot. (It took me a long time to understand how this tool really works. XPath, HTML + CSS, a Few days ago also notice jQuery knowledge also help me to use it advanced)

Completely useless piece of sofware. Might work on easy example sites that the dev has built, definitely does not work on complex sites or web 2.0 pages or social media. What a waste of time.

do you have an updated tutorial on how to use it microsoft edge, i go to dev tools but am confronted with a completely different setup than what your tutorial shows.

Extension is good but not able to scrape more than 10 pages...website having pagination and every page have upto 10 pages FIRST PREV 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 NEXT PREV

This is one of the best extension ever made. You have to watch some tutorial do some test to make it work.

Works but not very well. I can't understand why each 'multiple' selector become a hole line in the result. (If I have 2 mutiple selector and each of them got 4 text from the page, the data contains 8 lines)

The free version should have the option to include your own proxies. That shouldn't be limited to the paid version. Otherwise, webpages are going to block you the moment you starting scraping with volume.

This was really useful tool in earlier days but for last few months, the functions are not working properly. Need to get the latest updated version of the tool which is not released yet. I request the author to kindly update the version so that we can utilize the tool.

A bit of a learning curve there. A great tool while it works. But it didn't. I watched all the tutorials and learnt how to use it. But it didn't work well. Here're two main issues. #1, It doesn't support different branches when you design a scrap route even though it looks fine in the graph. The path has to be all the way down, page to page, otherwise it will only finish with one of the branches and discard the others. Which didn't mentioned in the tutorial so I had to find it out the hard way - Loads of testing and tweaking. And by the way the Popout Link does not catch any events and has no use at all in my case. If it happens in your case, just use the Link instead. #2, It keeps missing records. For example, when you show the selected elements it says 100 ones. When you scrap them, it will only scrap 35. I've tested it using longer delays and fewer items (limited by css selectors) but it just keep missing records. If you select only 30 it gives you 8, etc. So, I love it so much, but only conceptually.

Fantastic plugin. It takes some time to get used to it and play around but it's a very, very powerful tool once you learn it! The only improvement would be to make the RegEx engine less error prone, and easy to debug our own RegEx code. A code that works perfectly on regexr.com doesn't always work correctly using the Web Scraper plugin.

Their how-to videos are great for the entry-level scrapes. I wanted to do something a little more complicated and couldn't find anything within their guides, so I shot an email over. I was absolutely impressed by their response time. I think they had a full "how-to" with an example sitemap of the page I was trying to scrape in less than 15 mins back to me. I'm definitely sold on the tool now and will most likely upgrade.

Doesnt work and links to shop before even trying to do anything.

The developer(s) are AWOL and do not add any new features or bug fixes. Their website forum has been abandoned and is only filled with requests and bugs that go unanswered. Developer might have passed away from COVID. :(

Used it on dozens of sites, it really gets the job done! There are some issue with the UI that are not intuitive and I often have to try several different approaches to get it working, although if I hadn't taken the time to learn about the product I would have dismissed it as being too complex to use, take time to learn how all the available options work so that you'll be able to utilize them when needed, don't get frustrated and be patient, eventually you'll discover how powerful it can be.

The Extension works just fine, however does not follow a linear order of scraping elements in the order they occur on the website. the extraction is unordered which make it difficult to order them manually as per their occurrences. can any body help me out on this ? will update my rating if the issue is resolved. I'm currently trying to scrape info from "https://covid-19.ontario.ca/assessment-centre-locations". if any one can help, that will be great

Horrible piece of human waste! Ruined my work. If I have to double check everything myself manually, what's the point of using it? It misses to pick up data. Often doesn't work at all.

Its the best free tool available. I have my share of free & paid tool but webscraper.io is the best. Sometime, I feel frustrated thinking the tool is not working like I want it to & its useless but after trail & error I know the tool is fine I am an idiot for doing some silly mistake. It must have an option to browse the page up and down. One way to achieve it to allow to select any element at the bottom of the page and then again any element at the top of the page.

Exactly what I was looking for! I spent ages looking for automation methods to scrape websites, looking through forums and YouTube videos, and then I finally tried out this extension. I was screaming internally from excitement when it worked.

I downloaded it today. It froze up immediately after I clicked to open it. Specifically, a pop-up window appeared on the upper right corner, asking me to dock it but none of the buttons responded to my clicks.

Works beautifully. I watched the instruction videos, tinkered around, and got it to pull what I needed. Works reliably. Scrapped 5000+ records from a website. Took over 3 hours, but the data was perfect.

Every time I try to use it without looking over the documentation immediately beforehand I struggle with it so it isn't exactly intuitive but the documentation is good (and has improved over time). When I take the time to read the documentation and set it up correctly, I am always impressed with how well it works and how easy it is to use. Due to the fact that opens a window in your browser and effectively browses the site, as you while it scrapes and therefore preserves cookies, extensions, authentication, user agent etc. it works on sites when other scrapers fail.

One of the better web scrappers. Can do quite a lot, but still needs alot of basic functions added that other scrapers already implement. Some really weird quirks, like the sitemap title must only have lowercase characters (a-z), digits (0-9), or any of the characters _, $, (, ), +, -, / and must begin with a letter. You also cannot bulk import sitemaps. You also cannot bulk import a list of URLs to scrape, instead you must create a sitemap that you manually add individual URLs. (i just created a list in a HTML doc and pointed the first click to open the website HTML doc and click through each one) Also, you cannot open file:/// or localhost. Must begin with http:// or https:// You also cannot export settings of your current chrome extension to be used on another computer with the same extension. Which means you cannot easily send this extension with all your saved sitemaps installed to another computer unless you sign in to your chrome profile. This is a really big pain when you have hundreds of sitemaps and want to use on another computer without signing in with chrome. Other than a few quirks and frustrations, it works fine. The worst of all the issues is a simple click. It doesnt do it simply enough. If you have come from other scrapers that allow a simple Click function, you're going to struggle. It should just click the element you want and then move on to the next function/selector but it doesn't... I'ts difficult and not self-explanitory - you will see. Also the learning curve is larger than others, get ready to have the forums on standby. Thank goodness for talented people in the forums.
