I gave the author a week or 2 to respond to email about bugs and improvement suggestions. He didn't bother. He'd sure love to sit back and collect revenue from anyone uninformed enough to pay for this extension, though, when they could instead download smartUp Gestures, which is free and better! I will be removing this thing and I'm glad I didn't waste my money.

Works great but the right-clicking of links has stopped working recently even with the extra Smooth Gesture Plus addon installed on Mac.

It is an absolutely amazing productivity app, disregard low rating it works perfectly, people are just mad because it was free at some point, but trust me - it's worth every penny!

Had been using the free version for years. For over a year now I have the Plus version. Loved it then, love it now. I'm so used to it, I'd be bummed to have to do without. Yes, I did try others when the free version got removed from the store. For all the people who downrate it because you have to pay for it... I don't know what to tell you. Well, I do actually: This is the payed version. don't hate on this version because the free version is no more. It's gone, move on, find something else free. If you already know you don't want to pay for it, don't install it. How is that such a hard concept? Don't downrate a payed app because you have to pay. That is bonkers. Let the man have some income from this so it's worth his whlle to keep updating. You can try it out for two weeks for free and see if you like it.

I have used Smooth Gestures Plus for 5 years and 2 months and enjoyed how much easier it makes doing common tasks. Many really don't like to pay anything but I think a few dollars is a good deal and the benefits are well worth it.

It's such a shame so many users have left one star reviews regarding the price of this app, when it has always been a paid extension and the prices have clearly been reflected in the description. Smooth Gestures Plus is an amazing extension. I have a ton of button shortcuts on my mouse but the gestures are almost always quicker and easier. Tons of flexibility and customization. Well worth the cost for the years I have used it.

Been using it for so long that it faded into the background. Then I installed a new browser and Smooth Gestures was gone. Installed it again from the Extensions Store, but of course, it was not activated. Searched through my old emails and found the registration key. Installed the key, et voila, working again. Could not ask for a better experience.

The absolute best in mouse gestures - in another level from rival extensions! I could pay even more if necessary. Only two steps from perfection: it should include mouse wheel usage and (this is difficult) if only it could function in internal pages! PS With every update it's getting better and better! PS 2 - It stopped working in Opera browser in certain sites almost a month ago - I reported it but nothing!

I have used this for years without problems. After dealing with other 'free' apps that collect and transmit user information, (sometimes without notifying the users), I was happy to pay a small price for stability and privacy. This app is more than worth it.

Bruce Skarin December 6th, 2017
Bruce Skarin

I've used this for years now and the lifetime license has definitely been worth it. Google should honestly just buy the dev out and make it a standard option. Once you get familiar with gestures, it is so much faster than mousing all over to click buttons, access menus, open and close tabs, etc. Instead, with just a quick flick of the mouse I've got everything. Can't go without it.

I paid for this extension and ran into some serious glitches. I contacted the developer and he stated it was Chrome's problem, not the extension's. I requested a refund and he never responded. Just like others comments say, There are better extensions for free. Don't pay for it! ***No my license is not expired, I used another email for purchase. They did refund me one month ago without notifying me. I paid for this extension for years and I don't need to lie. It's true that this extension was buggy on my Chrome and the developer did not fix it for weeks.

Pay for what you love or it won't be around for long. It's a shame there are so many snobs who think they deserve everything on the internet for free. Smooth Gestures Plus is the best gestures extension I've used for either Chrome or Firefox. I wouldn't be able to use the internet without this extension.

Smooth Gestures Plus is a con to continuously get money for a tool which was offered for free for many years prior to this one. There is no improvement from this version to the previous, and the only reason these developers think they can charge is because they have a monopoly over this now. Garbage system, garbage developers, learn the keyboard shortcuts instead of relying on greedy devs

Johnny Bran March 23rd, 2017

started charging for this extension and disabled all older versions. Bad practice and will never support such developers.

Kyotra - March 18th, 2017

The problem here is the dev not only has started charging for this extension out of the blue, but also deliberately sabotaged older deprecated versions as well (now they are all "corrupt").

Forcing users to either pay up or keep them from using your extension? Do not install this, trial is a waste of time and older versions were better.

I have been using Smooth Gestures for years and I. LOVE. IT. *adds productivity *saves time *easy to customize *I find it super annoying now to try to browse without it! The negative reviews are really misleading about the quality of the extension and diluting the opinions of the actual users. Why the heck would someone would leave a 1* review just to complain about the cost? How is it so shocking that you need to PayPal the guy $3 for a whole year of use? I'm a super cheapskate when it comes to apps/extensions but this is a no-brainer. ROBUST: The extension is seemingly endlessly tweakable. I love being able to match the actions that I use with gestures that make sense to me. I've used similar extensions in FireFox and others here and they are laughably incomplete and confined by comparison. SO HANDY: I love that I can save the .txt file of all my settings, put it in DropBox, and then quickly have the extension be uniform across all my Chrome installations. GREAT SERVICE: I had an issue with a specific gesture, emailed the developer, he responded within a couple of hours and had it fixed by the end of the day.

Faryl Byrd December 20th, 2016
Faryl Byrd

I have always used, and loved this extension. It is worth every penny. You'll notice all the low ratings are only about them having to pay for this extension now, not at all about its performance or stability, because I don't think it can really be faulted in that regard. You'll have to decide for yourself if you want to pay. You have two free weeks to use and decide. As for me, I have no issue paying for it- I've gotten a few years of good service for free. I have no problem paying up for it.

Dharmendra Singh November 30th, 2016

Used to be a 5 star extension and my favorite thing but saying the original is corrupted just to make me reinstall a trial version to get me to pay for a plus sub is shady. finding something else

maja zaloznik September 27th, 2016

This is an exceptional productivity increasing extension! Love it, have for years, and am now happy to pay for it - it is totally worth the price! The fact that people are bringing down its rating because they're upset about it not being free is really tragic, this is a great product, and it's ridiculous that people have come to expect this sort of thing to be free. I'd much rather pay and not have the annoyance of advertisements or the worry that some unaccountable company is playing fast and loose with my private data etc. Keep up the good work!

Fernando Tsukumo September 27th, 2016

I've used this extension for years, it was great. All of a sudden I was informed smooth gestures was corrupt. I re-installed and now it's a paid extension. To make it even worse, you can't even right click on a web page in the trial version. Garbage.

Could you please remove the "smooth scroll to the closest heading" feature in the settings page for this plugin? It's annoying that it does let me set the scroll position to where I want. Also smooth scroll makes me dizzy.

The best gestures app out there, happily buying second year license in a couple of days!! Totally recommended, amazing tracking, being able to cancel gesture at the last second, tons of available gestures like: reload all tabs, close current tab, go top, go bottom, open new tab to name a few.

This is the only mouse gestures extension that comes close to the old Firefox gesture I used to use. The key feature of this app that I like is the ability to use the open new tab gesture to open new tabs and to open links in tabs. Otherwise it just works well for everything I want to do.

This extension is fantastic if you have it set up well... I originally decided to buy Smooth Gestures because CrxMouse is a botnet, and nothing else compares feature-wise on Chrome. (I came from Firegestures on Firefox) One of my favorite things I can do with it is run arbitrary JavaScript with a gesture or keyboard shortcut--I sometimes even take the code from other extensions and shove them directly in a gesture so I don't need to install anything. It's pretty gnarly.

Peter Moses October 14th, 2015
Peter Moses

Works for me. Wish it was donation based, not paywall based, but so be it. $2/year or $10 for lifetime license ain't exactly a lot to ask for. Just feel like I bought it once before it was "plus", oh well. It's very useful if you've never used a gesture plugin before.

Love this extension! It's even better than the old Smooth Gestures extension which I have been using for some time. I tried the 2 week free trial and didn't even wait the whole two weeks before paying for the full version.

Terrible. Interferes with the right click context menu, plus you have to wait for the entire page to load before the plugin activates. I lived with it for a while, but it causes more problems than it solves.

I don't understand why people comment the price. You're supposed to do an overall review of the tool, cost is only a small part of it. Last time I checked it was not guaranteed by law that developers should make their work available for free. I love the extension, it finally works on mac like it's supposed to. Since I'm a Firefox guy, it will take me some more time to decide if I can go with Chrome, but sure as hell, Smooth Gestures might just be the deciding factor.

Rafael Cieslik December 19th, 2014
Rafael Cieslik

Their attitude towards privacy and advertisement was highly dubious to begin with, but now they've even removed the free version from the webstore. For me, that's the final dick move to make me uninstall it. I found a great alternative in crxMouse. Apart from that, I liked it. Intuitive and powerful settings menu, simple to understand, easy to read icons, import/export settings, high customizability.

Yuhan Chen December 14th, 2014
Yuhan Chen

As a long time user who used it when they were free, I'm completely saddened by the fact that they're a money-grab now. As others mentioned, there are free options that might not offer the fanciest gestures, but get the job done. I can understand making a "Plus" version, but at least continue to offer the old free version if you're going to do that.

Matt Svensson December 12th, 2014
Matt Svensson

I'm surprised at the negative reviews. I use it every day, paid for it, and love it. Happy to support other devs. I know everyone loves free extensions/add-ons but someone has to write it and mange the code... If I'm not mistaken the gestures are now forced into the "correct" shape instead of free "drawing." Assuming, great change. If not, I've been away from Chrome for too long!

Svenn Kvelstad December 12th, 2014
Svenn Kvelstad

Suddenly, after two years, they want to charge you for using the same product you've been using for free for so long. Well, I'm not buying it. You could say this wasn't a very smooth gesture from the developers :D Good bye!

I've been using Smooth Gesture for years and I didn't notice they started charging fees for it until I reinstalled chrome. This extension was very simple that I could even write my own extension with the same functions! Anyway, I don't think this extension is good enough for every penny you may spend, because there are already other extensions that do the same thing perfectly with free charge.

Not only it is marketed as free and there is a fee afterwards, but the regular version "Smooth gestures" was discontinued, removed from Chrome Web Store. I've been using it for years and the author put "rewardzone" malware in it so it's not usable now - I "have to" get the "Smooth gestures plus" WTF?! I'd never, ever going to install that again! There is plenty of other gesture extensions. miniGestures is one of them.

Makes browsing very efficient. Ignoring the paywall for a moment, this is undoubtedly a 5-star extension. The ability to use a similar extension made me a die hard Firefox user for a long time. I was only able to switch to Chrome when I discovered this one. The gestures become second nature and I try in vain to use them any time I'm on a different computer.
