Works if you have a window with only a single tab open with a web page loaded. Does NOT work in a window with no page loaded. Does NOT work in any window with multiple tabs open. Dear developer, this is a great extension, would you please update it? Thank you.

F12 still opens while a page is loading. Not happy with that Google needs to what Microsoft Edge is doing. Edge has a disable setting in the settings og Edge.

The extension is not fully working but the source code is provided in the extension creator website. So, to disable F12 key in your browser simply go to Inspect then Console then paste the following JavaScript code: window.addEventListener("keydown", keyListener, false); function keyListener(e) { if(e.keyCode == 123) { e.returnValue = false; } }

Was great when it worked, Now it doesnt work, But I have found a way to use autohotkey(as of the time of this writing) To not only disable F12 but also F11(just as pesky as F12. Here is the text that you use when making an autohotkey script: #IfWinActive ahk_exe chrome.exe F11::return F12::return #IfWinActive Save the script then place in your windows startup folder.

Did not work at all! Still running into the same problem this "extension" should fix.

I use F12 with AutoHotkey, and after moving to Win10, found that Chrome was hijacking that shortcut, making me have to constantly reload the AH program. This extension has apparently taken care of the problem, and I didn't even have to restart Chrome. Thank you!

Doesn't work tried adding it still get the developer page on right, removed and re-added no difference I really hate the F12 key why don't they add the alt key to stop this happening, the times IU catch F12 when I use backspace GRRRR

Listen... comments like "it worked for me" and "it didn't work for me" just add to the noise. Event handling is almost certainly more complicated than you could imagine. There's a Google support thread requesting full control over key bindings - it's been open since 2013, with almost unanimous support, and the most helpful suggestion was to edit the source and compile it yourself. It's insanely frustrating and insulting that the *Dev Tools* shortcut is hard-wired into the source... but I can't ascribe outright maliciousness, incompetence, or indifference to Google as a whole. You shouldn't either. Do some research and/or check out the extension source before asserting things like "this is just a user data grab app" because it didn't play nice with your environment. Edit - here's a link to Linus Torvalds airing the exact same complaint back in 2011. The only attempt at a solution for him was a JS kludge that only disabled F12 the second time you pressed it on every page you visit. https://plus.google.com/+LinusTorvalds/posts/7PsYYeavcA9 Even if you don't particularly value his input, you can be positive that someone at Google did within the last 6 years.

It appears to work on pages that I need it to work on. Typically F12 would be a problem if I was writing something into a text box, like a comment on Facebook or a search query on Google, and I would reach for the backspace key to delete a typo but over reach and accidentally hit the F12 key which would cause the whole website to vanish and with no apparent way to salvage what I just spent time typing. This extension appears to do the trick. Thanks!

It does not work, I even ticked "allow in incognito mode" and restarted the browser each time. I will be taking it off as it makes no difference what so ever. :( I believe I used to have it before Chrome got one of it's updates. So perhaps something in Chrome is preventing the extension from working as intended.
