The free version is very limited, so I cannot even test to consider if I would have a paid version. We cannot remove the circle image where your camera shows and cannot unmute.

Does not work. loom.com is granted mic and camera permissions but the extension never detects them. Running chrome on ubuntu.

Latest version doesn't work

This sucks , I'm trying to record a quick video of a screen share of my browser, keeps popping up asking for microphone and video permissions, and I'm getting a big round circle at the bottom left. I don't think you can record unless you give this app permission to your microphone and camera! ridiculous, it records all the damn pop ups from this app

The recent update to the extension is a trash. it is really disappointing. the previous versions were so perfect.

No option for downloading

Absolutely garbage recording app. If you don't give mic & camera access (like if all you do is record screen shares) it will not let you get rid of the camera bubble. It prompts on every open for permissions, and clicking "proceed anyway" does nothing. Closing the camera bubble causes it to reopen and re-request permissions immediately, and every time you open the extension thereafter.

Sometimes I need to quickly record something and instead of it's being 2 min recording it turns into 20 minutes of Loom bugging and recording only 1 sec, and entering a loop that I don't know what to do about, sometimes it's this app turn into a blocker instead of a tool.

New version is causing a react error in my console for all website. react error decoder states this is a invalid hook call.

Filled with bugs, rather go for other alternative.

I've used the Loom extension in both Chrome and Edge. In Chrome, I have encountered no loss of functionality when using the extension. However, when using the extension in Edge, the red stop button doesn't appear with the controls, and in order to get the red stop button to display, I have had to open the library site. It's nothing major that would prevent me from using Loom, but I would ask the developers to look into that glitch as it would be more convenient to use the extension. Right now, the extension, itself is pretty much useless to me in Edge.

Scam

Extension Icon Color barely visible - please use a two color scheme, or allow for customization by providing two different icons to choose from? I can barely see the icon as is with my Chrome theme. Unfortunately, I can't paste an image to show what I mean. Thanks - otherwise looks like a super useful tool, wish I had known about this before. My students will love it.

I wasn't able to record my face while in presenter mode on Google Slides. I tried for about an hour and also could not find any videos online to help. The suggested troubleshooting I found on the Loom website was also unhelpful. Horrible user experience

I can't see setting to set the view quality in Chrome extension as you mention in the docs. Only desktop app has it. Please review the extension. My videos are getting unclear recordings due to this.

I had this for 1 day and on the first day it worked perfectly fine. But when i tried it today,I could no even open the extention and when it did (1 time and never opened ever again) i colud not see myfacecam

Unusable. The camera feed is too slow to use it for anything advertised. Not recommend.

The recording was good but the controls got in the way and no matter what you did you culdn't save it to your files. If this is what you want it for then this is not the right recorder for you.

Looms has always been our goto screen recorder until recently. It's too buggy now and works 1/2 of the time. Switching to another product. Sorry Loom.

I really like this app EXCEPT the hovering button that sticks to the side of the browser is VERY annoying. I wish I could disable it and will probably just uninstall the app bc it is THAT annoying.

First video I recorded lost its audio for no reason then got a corrupt video. It had one job....

I have been using loom for over two years. After using the free version, I upgraded to the annual subscription. As a convenience, I downloaded the desktop version on my MAC, but that was a big mistake. It affected the way my Mac was running, and I had to reset it and re-upload my software. I therefore won't download it again and only use the Chrome version. However, now that I only use the Chrome version, sometimes I record videos that are 5-6 minutes long and when I review them, there is no video, 0.00. It has happened to me many times and I have shared it with Loom, but they aren't able to explain it. There is nothing worse than using a product and enjoying it, but there is no solution to the bugs. In addition, the bug isn't a small one, and if it's happening to me, others are probably experiencing it as well. There's nothing like not being able to support something you truly enjoy.

mm just not sure if it lets me record screen audio i tried once and it did not that was the one reason i got this pleas tell me if theres a way.

i dont know why but it seems like every video recording software i use never has any audio, i am very confused on why this is and i cant use any footage if their is no audio.

Long time paid customer - As others have said Loom in 2022 has been extremely buggy, Extension constantly breaks, I've had 4 or 5 support tickets each time for a different issue and that's just n the last 3 weeks. Each support says they have a fix, I follow the instructions, (which usually involves uninstalling and downloading again) and then a couple days later there's a totally different issue. A couple common ones that reoccur, the video bubble just shows white screen no image, the countdown timer hits zero but doesn't record, your browser saying it doesn't have mic or video permissions despite it working perfectly the day before and you've verified it does in fact have all the permissions, one browser tab will work perfect and another one you'll run into mic issues. Support advises occasionally to do light technical work with browser settings each time, doesn't fix the issue either, just wasting more time. Constantly having to disrupt my work flow just to troubleshoot issues for Loom and open support tickets, I don't know what happened to Loom it was such a great product but you just can't be losing an hour a week trying to troubleshoot issues, what's worse for me is losing focus when you have time sensitive information to send.

Not dependable. Also no way to transfer individual videos between workspaces, it's all or nothing.

Try BUBBLES instead. So much better and free

Lots of bug while recording. Screen freezing and it get annoying. I know its hard but please improve the testing process to check on browser. Sometime extension doesnt even record and slow down the Macbook.

DO NOT USE THIS UNLESS THE FOLLOWING BUG IS FIXED. I started recording a Zoom lecture and it was fine until the end. Right I was about to finishing the recording, the message popped up saying something along the line of "There is a problem with the audio, if you click Continue, it is likely that the audio will be unusable." It did not say what would happen if I clicked on Cancel, so I clicked Cancel. The recording immediately stopped and the video was nowhere to be found in my Library. My 2-hour lecture was gone and there was no way to recover it. This is a very dangerous trap that the makers of this tool almost seem like they want you to fall into by not giving a warning. I wonder if they have a laugh each time a person falls into this trap?

OK it's works but it didn't tell you that you are gonna delete this long video i deleted the wrong video like come on they didn't give me a warning but it would for other videos and at least don't say "this will delete it forever are you sure" like at least have a tab for deleted videos so i can undo it

I have no idea how to use this app. It says it's a screen recorder, but without permission to use your camera, there isn't even an option to record. Pressing its icon in the extensions menu just brings you to a "canvas" with no options to record either. I should NEVER have to sign in with my Google account for a screen recording app. It should use local storage, and not require unnecessary permissions to do so. You shouldn't have to have my email to be able to record my screen, that's ridiculous. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if you're using my information for malicious purposes. This app is complete garbage, don't get it.

Can I just have a screen recorder that doesn't require me to sign up with an online account, and that lets me record and save locally? I hate screen recorders that require me to log in! Login should be opt-in after trying the minimal account-free features.

well I mean, it looks cool. But you can't record on Chromebook. if any linux users can reply and tell me if it works on that, that would be extremely helpful.

blurry video. that's literally their main offer and they aren't able to do it good.

crashes all the time, and i spend hours re recording videos. absolutely dreadful bug issues, and problems with macs security preferences all the time. DO NOT recommend at all. i have used this for months, and am absolutely done with it today, it's crashed 5 times in the past 10 minutes.

After trimming, the recorded video keeps loading, happened with 3 videos till now. One video got totally corrupted, not able to retrieve it. wasted hours of time

Constantly asking for chrome permissions and generally crashes on me.

Installed the extension but the dropdown menu to launch the recording and all settings doesn't appear. The only thing that comes up is my face in a circle with background options but no start button..! I really went through all their 'user education' material and know issues but nothing fixes it. I think this tool is very promising but the fact that it doesn't work out of the box on a Windows system, surface pro 4, with no custom installation whatsoever that could impede functionality, is a disappointment.

Suddenly they added something called the "Loom companion" that popped up on certain sites. I did not add this, they added it for me. So, goodbye Loom, it's been nice knowing you.

Loom is not reliable and unusable in 2022. Paid user here. So many bugs around extra features preventing recording, blur affect, and others.

They added an annoying on screen widget that PERMANENTLY stays in the lower left corner with no option to remove or hide it. It gets in the way of Google Sheets and other applications and the only way to hide it is to disable to chrome extension, then manually re-enable it if I want to use it. Stupid, invasive design decision.

this extension silently recording my screen , my macbook getting heating and i found it in activity monitor that screen time agent is running by this extension , this extension should be ban

Having to login to record anything is UNBELIEVABLE

I'm not happy at all. Settings are limited, and most of the options doesn't work. I've tried both: the browser extension app and the Desktop app. Same on their website. You got a workspace, but it is pretty limited indeed as functionality. A few times, my PC was freezing. Not my cup of tea.

Extension repeatedly gives an error message that I haven't enabled permissions, when I actively allowed them for this extension. Uninstalling extension didn't help, and now extension won't even start recording on window and screen views.

Super useful and speed ups workflow with async communication. Only issue is that the quality is poor most of the time, resolution is pixelated and hard to see what's on the screen :/

The login process is just broken. I click the Loom logo, login with Google and once I click it again to start the recording, I have to login again....and again, and again....and again.... This is really sad as I had a good experience to begin with but this has shifted quickly in an utterly bad experience. When you are trying to record quick videos for your clients but you can not even get past the login, that is some serious BS that needs to be adressed and FIXED ASAP!

It's amazing when it works. But for some unknown reason, I have to install and uninstall it many a time before it starts to work. Even that doesn't guarantee that it will work. This means Loom flips from being an amazing tool I love, to a total headache that negatively impacts my work schedule.

Loom was good for a few months but until i noticed the update of 5 min limits. it was not good enough for me since i have classes that i record for study purposes.

Please make the quality better

It downgraded my office space for no good reason, and now I can't upload videos to Loom. Never use this site for neither business or for personal use. Never gonna use this again, and neither should you, if you expect it to do what it promises.

Unreliable. Looms is quick to recommend using their Desktop application when recording problems arise, stating that videos recorded through the Chrome extension are beyond help. Use at your own risk and be prepared to re-record your videos with something else.

Terrible experience for me. It simply will not let me use the video, says I denied access to the camera when in fact the computer settings show that camera access is allowed! Help instructions are not helpful. I sent a message hours ago explaining the problem but have not yet received a response. What a waste of time.

I assume this website is useful, I at least like the way it looks, but I couldn't even use it. I tried to set up my student account but I made a mistake in the sign-up process. I completed the form to request an update for my account to change it to a student account but never received a response. I only ever got automatic responses. I tried deleting my account and setting it up again, fixing my initial mistake, but then I had other questions and I just decided not to bother even asking because I would just get another automatic response and no replies. I might have considered just paying for a subscription until my account was updated, but I figured if they weren't responding to my request to update my account, I probably wouldn't be able to get a refund later.

I used to record my video with mute option, however after some time passed it is now recording with sound (it enables it silently) which I didn't aware and it caused quite a embarrassing situation. I should have checked the recording every time that I finished recording but still this is not a good experience for user.

Works but very buggy. You can't change browsers, otherwise your video goes away and stops recording which is pointless. You then stay on one page, and the video doesn't record. What are we paying for?

Worked great until I got an M1 Mac. Chrome extension won't properly authenticate.

Garbage, not sure what they did but no longer works on mac or chrome.

Nice extension

For unlimited reliable recording that never fails and is completely free, use your OS's native recorders and upload to google drive. No video recovery, no upload times. Also if you need to edit, there are plenty of great free programs that do a much better job than the ****show that is editing within the web application. RIP

Constantly breaks on my m1 Macbook. I've also lost loads of videos. I would have switched to an alternative, but there aren't any that have the features and stability. Kinda stuck.

does this record audio

Using paid version on Linux Chrome. Very buggy. For example now on the new Ubuntu system - it even does not login. Does not show errors if something goes wrong. Good marketing, bad implementation of error handling.

Full of bugs, doesn't work

It literally cannot load a 10 second long video no matter how long I wait. I have very fast Wifi and computer so I know that isn't the problem.

Thank you. Loom is quite simple to use especially for novices. I however would like to check if it has the option of removing my camera for a few minutes while I am presenting and switching it on later while I continue the presentation. I tried but does not seem to have this functionality as yet.

When was I use loom I usually have to take a lot of retakes because I mess up my words. For some reason when I keep retaking the video it asks me for my email. so I put in my email and wait for it to work and it just does nothing? please fix this!

Best tool for recording the screen!

This is a amazing extension I used it to recored it's great amazing camera quility and great audio quility. 10/10 would recommend.

Used to be great. Now the desktop client crashes, won't let you login. Using the chrome extension if you are recording and you go to a pdf page, image page, anything else... it automatically stops recording and you lose it too. Really frustrating because you can record a 10minute video and then it randomly stops recording, and you lose your progress.

This app is junk, Not able to record the screen only for full screen. Wasted my time downloading the app as well. Frustrated

I've been a Loom user for-ev-er and love it. I like to think some of the great new features are a result of some focus group work I did. I use Loom to do screen shot communication for internal teams and to make outbound sales videos where I can be more relational and expressive when connecting with my ideal client.

Absolutely great extension to make example and training videos on the browser. Works like a charm.

installed also the windows client... crashed and doesn't work. Google is deprecating extension and there are security risks with extensions.... so not a viable option.

This is the ONLY out of 12 other screen recording extensions that worked decently. I am trying to do screen recordings of my game-plays for YT and I couldn't find any app that worked out until Loom. Thank you so much Loom!

Used to be great. Then the company took away the capabilities from the free edition, if you want to use it you have to jump on monthly subscription of $8 where paid annually. Sorry not worth it.

amazing! it recorder properly and very well. it wasn't choppy, nor laggy. 10/10 screen recorder, I recommend it to anyone whos looking for a screen recorder.

This "Loom" screen recorder, is amazing! you can record anything you want. I also like that you can have Facecam. Though I will NEVER use the facecam, it's still a good feature! I recommend using Loom to record you're screen.

This extension used to be great but it's pretty broken now. if you hit the giant "Stop sharing" button on the bottom of the screen instead of the tiny green checkmark in the corner of the screen the extension will break and your video will never finish processing. You have to reset the browser to get the extension to reset and your video will be gone

This is a amazing app!! I thought it was a app to record YouTube videos! but I Realised It Wasn't... SO I tried making a YouTube video and it turned out INCREDIBLE!!!! So Thank you so much and btw my YT channel is called LOOP_YT!

It is like the best recorder ever! Though, when I record an application window other than my chrome, I would end the recording and exit that window. But it would glitch, and keep on recording and it wouldn't want to download. I'm on chromebook. And it's kind of hard to explain.

I don't know if it's just me and I don't know how to work it, but it didn't let me record just the computer audio and the footage. It didn't record the audio.

i was doing screen record and voice over, i am a kid, my parents will not pay MONTHLY to get a more then five minuit video, i HATE the new upadate and in my opinoin completley ruined it!

Tell me loom, why do you need to change all of the data on the websites I visit?

When I try to record a video without providing access to my microphone (I don't need it), the entire browser crashes. I've repeated this several time. (Windows 10, Chrome LTS)
