very nice app very easy to Uninstall

As of 3/4/2019 no longer works on my chromebook. App tries to prompt me to install from Google Play which of course won't let me because it isn't android. I use Skype daily for work and this kind of nonsense shouldn't happen from a top tech company. What happened to the good old skype chat where I could type back and forth to my coworkers? Gone. Now all it wants to do is start a video chat. Skype isn't Zoom. And I love that about Skype. Stop trying to be Zoom. Give me my chat application for Chromebook back.

Absolutely horrendous, the last update took away the ability to use your skype account at all... Looks like Skype doesn't want to support users on Chrome OS.

The new update doesn't let me open my skype without starting a "meeting" and now won't let me call anyone at all

With the latest update, how to get in skype chat? It always re-direct to web meeting, which is not always used for daily.

so smart to mess up at lest half working Skype to not working at all extension, keep going and you will lose even these customers who used it...

New update means I can no longer "Launch Skype" from the extension to view contacts, chats, etc. Instead, I have to go to web.skype.com, so the extension isn't useful any more.

Why did it change? It doesn't allow me to log in to my Skype anymore? All I see is creating an invite link to a call.

Where are my chats? Where my contacts? All I can do is create a link to a meeting that I then have to send to my friend by mail? Are you kidding? Who had this splendid idea?

Wow, love the new design and the easiness to create and share a new video call. This is a game changer :D Awesome! Keep innovating!

for some reason many of my apps won't open and only say "EXPLORER.EXE" so this is really helpful

skype used o be the best. now i can login even with the right username and password.

4 stars because i can't use video calling for roblox. Please add this feature btw I want it.

ONLY WORKS IN THE USA! After extensive searching for why this was not working on gmail and google calendar as advertised, I found that it is only available if you live in the USA! Found on the Microsoft help from their technicians. Very disappointed yet again. Seems to be another nudge to use their teams software which is just as bad in my experience.

it didnt go onto skype but just pulled up a tab that just kept loading

I can''t figure out how to make video calls or receive them. All I can do is get the audio. Can't find any instructions or help for the problem. If I could resolve this it would be great.

I always found it to be a useful tool or resource in the workplace. Those who couldn't be present at a meeting could still participate. It has its place and I'm sure it's still effective today.

It doesn't work as it should. Here https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA34612/what-is-the-skype-extension you can find a guide on how to insert a Skype call in a Google Calendar meeting, but it doesn't work. Also, when you try to use "Share on Skype" feature a blank window is displayed.

Skype extension is not working on Chromebook anymore.

Skype is great, but I knocked off a couple of stars because of no way to adjust the mic volume in the extension or Web version. How ridiculous!

It's an excellent app

Not that it really affects me too much, but it has definitely just wasted my time. By all accounts the feature statements (and many prominent tech review articles) describe the ability to add Skype meeting links to Google or GSuite calendars and Outlook Mail or OWA calendars by simply installing this extension (and ensuring that third party cookies are not blocked or exceptions are added). I have since discovered that this does not work (for me and others and that MS have acknowledged this as a known issue, although no solution has been posted, nor has the feature list been updated). Like I say, it doesn't really bother me, I don't "NEED" it, but it has wasted half an hour of my time because I thought the problem was mine. The video was very blurry and barely connected. Every time I spoke it seemed to have a "Alvin and the chipmunk" voice. I could only hear myself and couldn't hear the other person.

Just discovered that this extension will provide your Skype username to websites that ask for it, e.g. latimes.com - no option to opt-out/in. Fail for privacy violation.

Why the hell you need to have menu with SHARE and LAUNCH instead just launching as a usual app (Chrome OS). SHARE option absolutely useless.

Highly Recommended I have used Skype for more years than I would care to admit to -- since long before Microsoft bought it out. I have never had a problem using it, and had long experience using all four modes of communication: (1) voice, (2) video, (3) messaging, and (4) screen sharing, as well as using it as a desktop app, a Chrome extension, and on my mobile and tablet. I use Skype for my office phone, and, therefore, have a Skype telephone number as well as an unlimited calling subscription. Skype reliably handles person to person calls and equally handles person to multi-person calls (conferencing) in all communication modes and all platforms. I have never had a serious problem with any of it: Yes, there has been the occasional call dropped. Yes, sometimes the connection is not good. Yes, sometimes I cannot hear the other person. Yes, sometimes the other person cannot hear me. Yes, sometimes the conversation is garbled. -- BUT -- None of these problems occur neither more frequently nor more often than I experience with my mobile phone.

At first it got discontinued from chromebook and I panicked, but then I decided to open the extension again and it turns out Skype released the updated interface! I love the new Skype. Turns out they were just getting the extension ready...

This extension used to work just fine and dandy on my Chromebook until a week or two ago. Now I just get a "Device not supported" message, but I don't think anything changed with my Chromebook, so what the heck? Did it just break? :( Disappointed!

When I try to launch Skype it keeps saying device is not supported. I had Skype on my device and it uninstall itself now I am trying to reinstall it.

It worked for a year, then one day I tried to open it and it said the extension was not installed. When I tried to install it, Chrome said it was already installed. I just removed the extension and reinstalled it and had the same problem. Bye bye Skype!

It's a good extension, but the calls could be more reliable when it comes from a chromebook, video quality could be higher, and my only major issue with it at the moment is that it does no longer support my chromebook.

Well Microsoft in all their ignorance has stopped supporting the Chromebit for this extension. Pathetic. Will not load/install. Says that they don't support "this platform" any longer.

Skype no longer works on Chromebooks that don't have Android app support, as Microsoft decided not to keep web.skype.com using open standards. Major FAIL!!!!!

I use to use it all the time on my chrome book but now it no longer supports. It says to go to google store and download a new one. So, I did and it still does not work. But, hey I got Skype icon up on my browser!

well since the latest chromebook update it took out the extension so it no longet works on my chromebook it says not supported on this device... Please fix this so i can use skype again. I use skype to talk to my friends that i don't see anymore and to keep people updated on my life and other life things please do another update or go figure out why skype no longer works on my chromebook

Skype online had to be shut down and i hoped this was the solution but i was wrong. goodbye Skype.

So it worked perfectly fine for a few weeks. However, I never tried the calling or video calling so I don't know if that's good or not. Yesterday, it stopped working, telling me "Device not supported Sorry, Skype for Web is not available on this device yet. Give it a try on your desktop computer instead." It was working just fine though, so I don't know why the device is no longer supported. Because of this, I am unable to use Skype anymore until someone makes a new version that works on my Chromebook.

It was always a very cruddy design and it stopped working.

Skype was just fine, then, it decided that this device wasn't supported! I don't understand why! Just yesterday I was chatting with friends on it and now it won't let me on! I really hope this gets fixed!
