NOT WORKING

This extension does not work. It does not allow videos to buffer.

work as it says no on chromebook

App does not function as described. Does not buffer paused videos to chosen percentage. The Save Bandwidth does not function. App is legacy and should be removed from store unless the author updates it. Right now the app is just a Preferences menu with no function.

Works just fine for what I wanted (adjusting YT buffer). Cant speak to its other functions but did exactly what I needed with rather simple UI and configuration.

I really wanted this to work. Buffer the entire youtube video to stop waiting as much when my internet speeds dip tempoarily but unfortunatly this extension has been outdated and no longer works, I am definatly willing to give it a go again some day soon!

December 2021 - does not work at all. The extension cannot override Youtubes built in buffering settings.

until just a few days ago this extension was working just fine, but youtube had an update that has rendered this extension incompatible for now. - when you use it, the video disappears after reloading the page. please update this extension to make it work again. - until then, i'll just have it turned off as to not break the internet.

I neither like nor hate this extension. It is abandoned. It hasn't been updated since 2014. DO NOT expect this to work. That is all.

This is the third extension I've tried in order to force YouTube to buffer the entire video instead of just 30 seconds worth, and sadly, just like the other two this one doesn't work either. Given how long its been since an update I suppose that's not surprising. Considering how difficult its proving trying to find a solution I can only assume that YouTube is now purposely preventing such tools for working. Very frustrating since they are trying to fix a flaw that's been in the service since the very beginning.

Completely wrecks YouTube, the video appears but not the page elements.

At first it worked very well to fix buffer issues on YouTube. Then YouTube started blocking the comments and playlists, etc. I assume it's YouTube because they manage to sabotage most extensions that try to alter any functionality, such as blocking autoplay is always a cat n mouse game, many more extensions effected as well. Monolpilies do this.

Simply doesn't do what it says it should. I think perhaps it is very old and needs removing. Player settings popup = Does not exist - No controls at all. "ensure that videos are buffered even if they are paused" - Does not work. "Do not initialise video until I click" - Does not work

Had the same issues as others, no 'Smart Buffer' and everything other than video was grayed out.

I have enabled the "Ensure that videos are buffered even if they are paused" but still it didn't buffer the video, it just buffered a small portion exactly as YouTube does normally. I have enabled that option on both normal and embedded videos. I'm using Brave Browser.

Doesn't work at all. It doesn't buffer youtube videos when paused. Even not buffering entire video. No effect of extension. Pretty bad that youtube removed the support for buffering full videos and buffering when paused, and not able to find any solution to it.

Doesn't work. YouTube won't load anything on the screen except the video. It won't buffer the entire video. Whatever this extension is supposed to do it doesn't do it.

Black screen if I go fullscreen on YouTube with this extension. If I go back from fullscreen YouTube interface becomes broken

It grays out everything else on the page. The text, thumbnails, everything.

It was working great, now the YouTube controls go blank (unusable). Like most of the addons that make YouTube work better, eventually get blocked by Google in some way.

Have been having a problem with Youtube videos either not loading at all; or just playing audio while screen area is black. Turned this extension off, and everything acts normal. Tried turning it on again- no picture. Off- normal. Zero stars.

This app crashed my youtube. I literally had to find which app was hanging my stuff up going thru the process of a ext by ext removal process. Way to go. I get it. Im sure that u didnt intentionally make a super buggy app and actually go thru the process of trying to promote it. At least I hope thts not what happened. At any rate, thts exactly what did happen. 0 % success with ths app right here. Pls go back to the drawing board with ths one fellas

Maybe I'm a bit late here but it doesn't work for me in 2019. I like the idea (I NEED it indeed b/c of my bad internet connection) but bummer, it doesn't work.

I just installed this extension and YouTube is simply broken now. Everything is blanked out. Videos, texts.. This needs to be fixed asap. Removed from Chrome.

We would love to help him update this or merge the project with ImprovedTube! doesn't work... Can't watch video with this extension... I get youtube error instead !!

I installed it for embedded videos and it's working fine. Basically I just needed it to continue buffering in the background even in paused state. Then I disabled the settings for YouTube so it won't affect my default settings there.

Not sure it was accomplishing anything, and then I got the problem W. Mc reported: The extension causes everything (text, comments, suggest videos) below YouTube's main video to blank out. Unambiguously confirmed by toggling the extension on and off.

I just installed this on Chrome Version 71.0.3578.98 (Official Build) (64-bit) running on Windows 7 today, 2018-12-16. I rebooted the computer after installing to be sure no previously running processes were preventing the extension from working. Not only did SmartVideo not affect youtube videos with allowing them to buffer fully or to any extent beyond what they normally would, it prevented the videos from displaying at all when switched to full screen. Uninstalling this extension now.

i downloaded this and tried to watch a morgz video on youtube and it did nothing but made it buffer even worse. Should of looked at the comments to see if it works. ugh

Not working. I assume this is because YouTube did some behind the scene update which this extension is not currently compatible with. Previous: Can't get the desktop notification to work for some reason

It only shows the main video clicked, rest of screen is white when this extension is enabled

Just doesn't work. It breaks the theatre mode button. I disabled it and now it works fine. Videos don't buffer while paused. the only thing that did work is that it paused the video at loadup (which I asked it to do), but it could've just been Youtube because it does that sometimes. Complete waste of time.

Installed it to eliminate the buffer limit. It's not doing it despite the fact it says it does.

Completly breaks all playlists: No content around the video is loaded, as well as the playlist itself on the right, next to the video.

I used this for quite some time with no problem - was very helpful on machines with slow connections - BUT a few months ago my youtube videos stopped loading properly - either would not play or would only show the vid w/o text, comments, etc. I finally traced the problem to this app - don't know if a chrome update broke it or the developers did, but it is def broken. Too bad.

It does not work. It will not buffer videos all of the way. In fact, for some reason, it blocks out all related videos and comments and the video description. I know it is this extension because I only have that problem while the extension is enabled. I disable the extension, and I am able to see comments etc again. I might still use it if it actually buffered the videos like I want (and yes, I have it checked in the options), but it doesn't. Worse than worseless.

While it did stop the video from loading like I wanted, it also stopped everything else from loading, so the only thing on every video's page was the video (no title, description, etc).

I reloaded chrome, because it wasn't working now I just get a playback error.

Seemed to buffer more of the video but would remove the normal video comments section and stuff. Not quite what I wanted.

Sadly seems to be broken... hasn't been updated in four years, and youtube changes have broken it. I get a blank window with only the video player, no comments, sidebar, etc. A shame, I'd love to have this working again.

Stopped all aspects of YouTube loading apart from the video and then only loaded 2s of the video.

Leaves a blank page with nothing but the video on it. Can't expand the video or navigate a playlist. Completely useless.

did not force buffer at all and after tweaking and resetting settings broke Youtube entirely. conflicts heavily with uBlock which is actually useful for something.

Unfortunately this excellent extension no longer works with the current version of Youtube. It doesn't load the entire website for some reason.

It worked fine before but now only the top bar and the video loads and nothing else shows on YouTube. No comments titles or other videos. I can't even click the YouTube home button. Hopefully this will get fixed soon.

hello great extension...i'd recommend adding this extension if your having problems watching videos...it might help if you play games too lol

This is a great extension, up until about a week ago. I will change the star rating back when fixed. Now youtube is not loading correctly, the video will half load or only play audio. and nothing else on the page will load. Over the past couple months with the latest changes many of the settings weren't working properly either but it didn't affect the buffering. I have disabled every other extension (including add blockers), did browser clean ups, refreshed passwords, did a dns flush etc. The only thing that worked was to disable the extension.

It does work with buffering but it removes all other information on the youtube page, the youtube home button, the comments, the recommended videos, the video author, video details, everything. nothing is left but the video itself which is fairly annoying.

Really likes this but hasn't been updated to work with new youtube design, completely breaks youtube. had to disable.

Originally this worked fine, but recently it causes weird bugs to appear on youtube. I can no longer view comments or suggested videos. It removes everything from my field of vision besides the video itself. I don't know if this was the intent, but it is quite annoying and I had to remove it.

it used to work perfectly for a couple of years, i loved it that time.. its work fine then... but now since the update of August 29th 2017 it breaks YouTube.... now youtube goes totally black whenever i enable this extension.. ... please Fix it. and reply.

It used to work perfectly for a couple of years, but since the update of August 29th 2017 it breaks YouTube. Only the video loads, you cannot see the description, comments, recommended videos etc. It also throws a lot of errors in the JavaScript console. So unfortunately it doesn't work anymore.

It has problem with Youtube. tubeId.indexOf is not a function

This extension used to be good, but recently, it has been breaking YouTube's layout for me... :/ :(
