Horrible, wont even load the page I want it to read. Does not work at all and I cant imagine how it is even an option to download. I need an app that will read text from a website so I can study while I am doing other things. Would be a great study tool if it worked, I sure wish someone would perfect this idea.

No funciona, cuando lo quiero activar queda mostrando la barra de avance. No da ningún mensaje de error ni de espera. No me gustó para nada.

This app stops reading after a few sentences. I tried changing the default voice - still does it in any language. Needs to be fixed. Would be a great app.

Just didn't work. Can't really say much else, because it would not work at all. Bummer, because it sounded awesome on a review I read.

used to agree with other commenters re: cuts out after reading the first few sentences.. THEN i realized that I needed to play around with options and change the "voice" ... apparently not all TTS voice engines are built equally.. Announcify cuts out with the default voice option on my browser.. I changed it from the Google US default to the iSpeech one I had previously added to chrome and TA-DA. Works beautifully.... hopefully this can help a few other users that have encountered the same problem

I love the idea of the extension, and when i first tried it, it was good until it just stopped mid sentence. It doesn't read the whole paragraph which is very frustrating. I don't know if it has a certain limit of words it can it, which causes it to stop.

Okay, so my law teacher recommended this extension last year, but I just recently got around to using it. Honestly, I'm not sure why she recommended it, as it just does not work. It only reads the first few sentences of a text, and then cuts out. Why? What's the point of that? If you really want an app that reads to you, don't use this. You might as well just highlight the text and use the speaking function that comes with Macs (which is terrible as well, but at least it will read the whole text). To summarize, great idea, but poor execution.

Troy Fergus December 29th, 2015

Like everyone else is saying it only reads the beginning of texts. There needs to be a way to slect text directly. App is useless until we have that ability.

It is broken and has been for a while. It seems to stop in the middle or at the end of long paragraphs as though there is some sort of character limit. It seems this might be a problem with Chrome's TTS api though since other TTS extensions seem to be having the same problem. It also will skip paragraphs when using the forward or back buttons. Seems the developer might have given up on this project. Which is sad since this was one of my favorite Chrome extensions.

phly95 : August 15th, 2015
phly95 :

It works really well, but in order to make it work, I have to host the text I want as a webpage and that is really annoying. Unfortunately, google makes the only good and free tts voice in existence, so I'm stuck with these annoyances until they are fixed.

I like the concept, it sounded good when it was working. Unfortunately,I've never gotten it to read more than a few paragraphs, never more than half a page. Too bad, because the small section it was able to read was fine. Hope the problem gets resloved, I had to uninstall it the same day it was installed after ten different failed attempts at reading different websites.

I've only just begun using this program, and quite like the style of the visuals. I'm not too keen on the voice, although it is clear and its pronunciation is superior to a number of applications I've used in the past. Update: I've found that the application tends to halt at inconvenient spots; halfway through an article, partway through a short paragraph, etc. It's annoying, and hopefully the developer will remedy this issue as soon as is possible.

Mark Cleveland Massengale (SaveMeJebu5)

Great extension! Pros: Inflection at the end of sentences is fairly natural, and the pause between paragraphs adds a lot to TTS that many other similar TTS extensions lack. Cons: Does not work on pages that require login. Does not allow user to manually select text to override the algorithm. No option to have it re-read a paragraph.

Is there a way to slow down the reading? It doesn't pause, slightly, at sentence punctuation. Also, it stops reading 1/2 through a paragraph. Cannot seem to get it to start where it left off ... instead it jumps to the beginning of the next paragraph and the cycle begins again.

1. Keeps saying "NVSP" at the end of certain sentences. 2. Stops reading after just a couple sentences. 3. Does not read all text on a page. 4. Does not work on pages with any kind of login. 5. Great extension, very helpful. Feedback, if you have an isolated tab for the extension to read, why is there no option to continue to read in "Background Mode". Would give 5 stars but its frustrating to toggle back and forth just to keep the reading going. Look forward to the updates.

Very good job! This is more than read-out-loud; it's a new way of presenting reading material. As it speaks, the article get blurred except for the paragraph it is reading; this enhances focus and absorption of information. Also, utilize the keyboard control keys when you download it. For example, the 'space-bar- works as a play/pause button, where as the keys moves you through paragraphs.

Why can't I hear anything? When I clicked "Authorize " button in Announcify Setting "Authorization" tab, I got this message "This isn't yet ready for your eyes. Sorry! :(". Moreover, when I click "Speak" button(Test voice setting)in "Text-To-Speech" tab, I still can't hear anything. I appreciate if anyone can give me any suggestion.

Bernie Lee December 19th, 2011

I love this so much. I am using it to learn poems and other forms of literature. I especially like that the paragraph being repeated is the only one in focus on the page at the time. Good job. I am in agreement with some previous comments. Please do remove the   and other formatting that is being spoken. At this point I am copying, editing out the formatting in Dreamweaver and uploading my documents again to a website. But I still love the application despite this problem.

A. WL December 6th, 2011

It would be perfect if this extension was used/ supported with natural human voice, like TextAloud. My PC actually has been installed some TTS Natural Voices but this extension does not support. I still have to use my TextAloud cause I want to listen by smoother voices with options among UK accent, US accent, male voice, female voice. But this extension is great, for web using. New hope! Please go on developing! Thank you.

Its cool! The only problem i faced is it keeps reading nbsp in between. So it hampers the flow of reading and distracts a lot. May be developers can remove nbsp word from the html so that the experience will be a lot cooler. And it stops after few paragraphs and then next button click is required to go to the next para. I could not find the setting to avoid this. I would like to have article reading in the background while browsing. Great idead! Liked it a lot Improvement will make it BEST

It can be useful. However, I wish I can just highlight a paragraph and let announcify just read the paragraph that I highlight, instead reading from the top of the page.

I like it. What you COULD do (just food for thought) is download one of those open source TTS libraries and tweak it so it sounds a bit more... natural while reading common internet words. Also, allow it to read the auto-hyperlinked words. Currently it just skips over them.
