Just turns whole page dark grey. No Google, no shortcuts, no bookmarks.
I would rather it have an option to disable the unnecessary animation. I will look for a dark grey bew tab extension without any animation added.

I spent an unhappy hour looking for a BLACK new tab. I get migraine from high contrast and bright screens. Finally I found it. No white, no text, no time display, just beautiful black. Perfection. Thank you!
Exactly what I was looking for! No more getting blasted by a white flash when opening new tabs while using Dark Reader. Thank you! Dark Reader and Dark New Tab should cross promote each other ;)

Works insanely fast. I'm using it on Edge (Dev version) and loads way faster than the default Edge new tab. Edge by default shows you for a split second a full bright new tab before fully loading. With this extension the new tab opens directly dark.
Does exactly what it promises. I was using the Empty New Tab Page extension—but after switching to Windows 10's dark theme, plain white tab pages were too glaring, and the extension had no color options. So this is great—thanks! BTW, it does NOT show the bold white text shown here on its main page. (A confusing choice, but developers aren't necessarily marketers, right?)

I have dark themes for every site, and every time I opened something in a new tab at night it felt like a flashbang going off. This solves that problem perfectly!
