Useless trash that frequently flags legitimate, respected small businesses that have existed for almost a decade. Analyses often refer to issues that simply do not exist in the reviews it claims to be analyzing, which heavily implies either a feeble algorithm or straight-up falsified reports. So FakeSpot is either malicious or lazy, and should be avoided at all costs.

The algorithm doesn't always parse out the most useful parts of a review, and at times I question what criteria it uses for determining "authentic" human-written reviews. That said, it generally provides enough info that I can make a buying decision with an informed baseline.

It helps avoid scammers.

Fakespot has helped me save so much time and money by weeding out lesser quality products and fake reviews. Nothing I've purchased, so far, while filtering through Fakespot has been bad quality. Fakespot for life!

If you shop on Amazon or any other major shopping site Fakespot is a must have! There used to be a time where you could usually believe a review of a product, that is no longer possible (except for my reviews, you can absolutely believe my reviews).

Fake Spot has helped me immensely in narrowing down choices and alerting me to sellers with a lot of complaints. I have been frustrated when Fake spot gives me suggestions that do not link me to the product on Amazon or suggests a seller that offers free shipping when that is not actually the case.

I loved Fakespot in the beginning. It really helped me to determine if an item on Amazon was as good/bad as the reviews claimed. Unfortunately, the recent iterations and the browser extension leave me wanting. So many items have negative reviews, and it appears more that the Fakespot algorithm is having trouble identifying good/bad reviews. Disappointed.

I find it helpful to give me an idea of the veracity of reviews. I especially like the percentage of reviews altered or changed by Amazon. It gives some idea of how many are trustworthy.

Not perfect, but a great indicator for confident buying. Use it as a guide, but it is not flawless. For the most par it is a great ally in filtering out the deception. At the same time it can also prevent showing of less reviewed, lower cost options.

Always use it to confirm Amazon reviews.

unfortunately, Amzon has some unreliable sellers recently. So Fakespot is very helpful to spot them. I also know some people who write fake reviews as a side job :( Fakespot catches them.

It's pretty great. I always double check Amazon reviews with it. I think it's more reliable than Amazon reviews by themselves, given all the deceptive sellers and reviewers. The safe seller ratings are nice, too.

Time Saver So I'm Not a Money Waster!

Filters out the distracting, ridiculous search results and in my last search, it found a less expensive seller that did not appear in the Amazon search!

Since many months I was wondering why my Amazon website experience was horrible and my browser was using 99% CPU on the Amazon websites ... now after removing this extension I know it ... it was this extension totally messing up the Amazon website and consuming 99% CPU. Absolutely horrible. Luckily I finally found out after trying and trying. It also made the Amazon website 'jump' up and down ... mostly down without doing anything. I was just on some listing overview and .... bang ... down on the website and lost where I was. This plugin should be removed from the store. It's almost dangerous.

It does make me feel more secure when making a purchase by being a second set of eyes on the merchants. It is only a guide. I purchased an item on Ebay and it flagged my seller as questionable but after the purchase I had nothing but a good experience with the seller.

I appreciate the ability to do research as much as possible on items I order or buy online and Fakespot is a positive tool that I continue to use. It really helps to cut down on reading a bunch of reviews (if available) and hope you have made the better choice. Currently use on Amazon, EBay and Walmart. It seems to work well to find a better (real) set of reviews for products.

This extension has saved me $ and time, especially on ebay and amazon. I can always find a more reputable seller once I know one is questionable. They are good about updating the ratings if you select that option.

Fakespot is so useful I would highly recommend it. It's another data point and there are so many fake reviews on Amazon where vendors pay for low-cost overseas and receive bulk reviews. You can choose to ignore it, but if Amazon says 5 star and Fakespot says 2 star, you can decide what you want to do. Why risk it? I had some bad experiences on Amazon before Fakespot but none since I added it.

Need to read the reviews because sometimes things are more positive than they appear by the rating. Helpful to know if reviews are faked by the company or if something is really popular because most people had good results and were willing to overlook the negatives.

This extension is very helpful not only for Amazon purchases but other merchant websites as well. It will tell you if the seller is new and untested, if there are complaints about the seller, etc. I tend to only shop websites that have a Fakespot rating.

The same product for whatever reason, seems always to have a lower rating on reviews at Walmart than at Amazon. I know that the intent is to rate the reviews rather than the product itself so I'm in the dark as to whether the product is good or bad OR are the reviews more honest.

Very useful for weeding through the insane number of fake reviews on amazon. It's not perfect but you'll definitely be a more educated shopper than without it.

**WARNING** This extension has really gone downhill in recent years so be sure to check the reviews for yourself. I've found some legitimate/popular brands now show as having C-F ratings while items with fake reviews have A ratings... Here's an example where all of the product reviews are for an entirely different product than the product in the listing! (Amazon Product ID: B0BKGHBL2K)

A great extension, I use it all the time. I'm an avid Amazon buyer, but they don't necessarily optimize for the best user experience, just the most user buying. So I like to use this to make sure I'm not getting scammed.

Fakespot is a wonderful way to make sure the reviews we see are not from bots. It's great at letting us know the general quality of the reviews we see online before we buy. We definitely feel more comfortable when buying on Amazon when we use Fakespot. :-)

Useful extension to spot all those fake bot reviews, however the screen tab is intrusive because it's right next to the scrollbar.

Fairly reasonable in spotting fake reviews. I've found it useful in that regard. However, the extension is also intrusive and interrupts me when I'm working on something elsewhere besides shopping - highly annoying in this regard.

Vine voice recognized as fake....useless

I like the sleek, clean interface and variety of sites with customizable settings Fakespot works on but it's really frustrating that almost no info is given about how it qualifies reviews as fake or genuine. I think if you're short on time and just want a quick visual reference that you won't take as gospel then it could be a helpful tool, but there are more informative, and equally quick, review analyzer options I definitely prefer.

It has been an eye opener. Never knew there were so many fake reviews.

Just a basic algorithm based review-scanner. Even if a product has overwhelmingly positive reviews, the algorithm will still score the product's reliability at a low grade. Overall boosted my anxiety about buying things.

I'm with the reviewers here where it seems as if the algorithm seems to be 'off' when purchasing some items. I recently purchased an NVMe M2 hard drive that has a D rating. With literally thousands of good reviews (including my own), how can this be possible? Thinking they could just do with a pass/fail to keep this easier. The grade doesn't detract me from purchasing unless it's clear others have been cheated or otherwise dissatisfied. The other features such as trusted/new seller are helpful. Just OK.

It's been great. Heard about this on NPR earlier this year and had to give it a try. I used to have trouble identify things I was buy that was of poor quality or was made from bogus means. This has helped me immensely by weeding out the dudes and pointing out to me the legitimacy of reviews or helping me spot when someone has artificially beefed up their reviews or switched products so as to be more at the top of the first search. One notable one was, i was searching for some something (can't exactly remember what) and the first thing that popped up had the amazon approval, and taughted as # one in that item. Turns out the saler had switch the original product (it was fishing hooks that was like $1.90) with another product that cost ~$50.

So much helpful to weed out the fake and altered/paid review. This is truly AI weapon on customer's hand. I truly support this extension and the company. They are really doing good job empowering buyers

It seems very reliable and has helped me avoid purchasing fake/bad quality products. Especially recommended if you use websites like Amazon where there is absolutely no quality control in the market.

I've been using Fakespot for a few years now, and I love the sense of security it gives me whenever I buy on Amazon. My only complaints are that it occasionally gets stuck when analyzing a product, and sometimes when a product has an outdated review grade, the Reanalyze button doesn't appear on the Fakespot product page. I don't know if it's a bug or if for some reason I just can't find it. But aside from that minor annoyance, this is an essential Chrome extension that I could not do without!

At first I thought this was a helpful extension, but later I found that it was hiding some links / results. I don't know if this is intentional or a side effect of modifying the page, but in either event, it is not acceptable. I discovered this after searching for a particular item and noticing I would see it for a split second then it would disappear. Turning off this extension allowed me to search successfully.

Not always updated but for the most part it's a handy tool to assist with evaluating whether to go with a particular online seller.

Sometimes misleading. I have used this a lot to help steer me away from certain sellers, but there are some items that I buy all the time on repeat that have "D" rating (even with updated analysis) that have never had any issues with, so the "D" rating is irrelevant (at least with my experience)

Fake Spot vs Amazon's Choice I use it a lot to help me to narrow down my choices to A's and B's. I use it together with Amazon's choices which often suggests an item with a lot more buyers and a better price, and the overall average rating of all reviews. I always have to remember that all of these sources are skewered in favor of extremes, either very happy motivated consumers who like to share or the very unsatisfied ones. Oh, so often I feel like writing a good review but like so many others once you satisfied you move on. Thus, the review column leaves out the majority of consumers because it does not allow you to just rate the product without writing something. Having taken it all into the account I strongly recommend it as an excellent additional tool in guaranteeing less frustration with the products one ends up ordering.

FakeSpot is not magic. Expecting that would be silly. For each product, it lists a letter grade as a summary of its findings. This is done with AI, so it may not always be enough. I usually just go by that. That said, short of magic conveyed through a single teller grade, it's pretty darn amazing! It's definitely useful to go to its summary and see why it grades some products a certain way, or if the number of reviews has suddenly and mysteriously changed. Like anything, it's limited by the quality of the data it's given and by how well it's used. There is ALWAYS a risk when buying ANYTHING. FakeSpot cannot change that. Nothing can. But it really adds a huge layer of reliability over most items whose information it complements.

I've been using Fakespot for several months on many potential and actual purchases. I have relied on the Fakespot review analysis many times and it has not let me down yet. There have been times where Fakespot provided a warning and I purchased anyway, either due to previous purchases of the item or from the company. However, I have quite a bit of faith in the Fakespot feedback.

Look at it like this: it can't tell you for sure what you're buying is any good, but you *can* know for sure it's a piece of junk. And you can know when you should be extra cautious with websites or sellers too. I've ordered from sites that Fakespot advised me not to, but I took extra precautions to protect my purchase and privacy. And I'm glad for the warning.

FakeSpot is a must have these days. Online shopping is full of fakes, forgeries, and scams, and the major online markets just don't care enough to really do anything about the problem. FakeSpot is one of the few effective tools we consumers have, and it does a pretty good job of spotting fake reviews and pointing out other red flags (I truly love the "New Seller Alert"). FakeSpot is certainly not perfect, it's analysis isn't always correct, but I still see it as an essential tool for online shopping and the only one of its kind that actually works. Unless something better comes along, FakeSpot deserves 5 stars for their efforts.

It's a good extension but... Recently this chrome extension has shoved "top product" into my search results for massage guns. It thinks "B TOP PRODUCT Age of Sage White Sage Smudge Sticks 4" is relevant to my search for massage guns. Very annoying.

Nine times out of ten, it works great -I constantly have it sort my Amazon search results based on Fakespot review, that's easily my favorite feature. Sometimes however I do find it helpful to get a second opinion from ReviewMeta, as Fakespot can sometimes have odd discrepancies between its grade for, say, a t-shirt that's red vs that same t-shirt in blue (one might have a score of A, but the other gets a score of D). This makes me wonder how many items on Amazon that have poor Fakespot reviews actually deserve it, but overall it's still worth it to have this tool.

I use iy consistently, and have learned to avoid purchasing items with padded reviews/ It's difficult enough to purchase items on the basis of mere photos and descriptions. Fakespot helps to separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to customer reviews. I don't really use the sample quotes from reviews to make a judgment. One thing I would add would be showing a percentage of the reviews that came from accounts that has been solicited or received the item gratis. Those always seem to be sheer puffery. I much prefer reading the one- and - two star reviews, which are at least blunt.

Very helpful service/product. Fakespot has helped me avoid purchases from sketchy merchants. It has missed a couple but that's to be expected, imho. I am really glad it exists to help consumers make more educated choices.

I have been absolutely thrilled with Fakespot ever since I discovered it. I initially used the web interface and pasted links in, but having a grade show clearly right on the item is super helpful. It has saved me many times from making a purchase I would have most likely been unhappy with (I have come very close to buying an item only to remember to check Fakespot and find a very bad grade; alternatively, I've forgotten to check the grade and ordered things only to realize later that the reviews were clearly fake!) It's simple to use, takes seconds to evaluate reviews, and is so intuitive even my mother can use it!

This is amazing! FakeSpot is going to be a household name everyone is going to use and enjoy, to police all the fake reviews and sellers, and uphold credibility and trust on the web. Thank you Fakespot!

Essential on AMAZON. Why doesn't Amazon do this themselves!?! They KNOW there's rampant fake accounts and yet can't be bothered. Why??

Use this tool always when looking for items on Amazon and Walmart. It's served me well, especially when a relatively new product is highly rated thru Amazon reviews but gets a bad Fakespot rating. When I go back to read some of the 5 star reviews of that item, it's obvious the reviews are fake. In the past, I may have take the high Amazon rating at face value but not anymore!

I love this tool. Just because a product doesn't get an "A" grade, doesn't mean the product is bad, it just means that the company might be manipulating using fake or incentivized reviews. It helps me when I am unsure of the quality of the item.

I've been using this extension for a while now. It's quite useful and I do depend on their judgement. Have to note though that I have no idea and no way of verifying the ratings provided by Fakespot. Can't tell how accurate, fair and consistent they are. Still, like I said I do use it almost all the time when I purchase on Amazon. The UI is rather useful and good on its own.
