Breaks a lot of sites and was breaking the input field on localhost as well, where I couldn't enter "space" at all. Spent way too long debugging it because of this extension somehow hijacking the behavior. Had to remove extensions one-by-one to uncover the issue. Very painful.

it worked!

I only used this so I could scroll right and left at the bottom of web pages on my PC. I have problems seeing and if I make the pages too large I can't see the outer edges of my screen without scrolling back and forth. Using arrows on my keyboard would not let me see the screen. This extension was extremely helpful for me. The rules have changed, and the developer wants money to use it. It now has constant nag popups to buy, if you close them it WILL keep working. I'll just deal with it because I have no choice. It only seems to come up once per web page. I just wish if he wanted money he wouldn't offer it as free. It's been doing this for over a month now. I really need this so I'll deal with the nags. Maybe someday he'll have needs that can't be addressed. I'll never buy anything from him or donate to him after this experience. I hope he reads this. This was a jackass move.

Works great on Ubuntu Linux.

Pop-ups?!!?!? Seriously?? Just why it's so amateurish. Would get higher rating but => pop-ups. Just don't. Silly decision. I have 30 plugins. Imagine if they all had pop-ups? Fortunately, none of them do. Only SmoothScroll. Every time, there it is. Damages the brand. Just stop please.

The extension works ok to good, but marking this a 3-star because starting 30 seconds ago, I'm being told my license is up. I've used this extension forever and now they want me to pay for it without ever indicating this would be a paid for extension. No thank you, uninstalling.

This review is about smoothscroll.net, which provides the SmoothScroll plugin for Chrome and related apps. I downloaded the new macOS app that was being promoted on the Chrome plugin page, so I feel my review is appropriate here. Within seconds after installing and enabling accessibility permission, my system froze (Ventura 13.0.1). I had to hard-reset my machine and uninstall the app. A concern/question I have is that the macOS app communicated with six websites immediately after/during installation: smoothscroll.net, three sites at cloudfront.net with cryptic alphanumeric prefixes, fastspring.com, and google-analytics.com. Maybe I misread the privacy disclosures, but that seems pretty egregious since the company claims that the app does not collect user data and runs no background processes. I'm not an app developer, so maybe there's a legitimate reason for this, but it seems suspicious to me - the developer can respond and set the record straight. I also didn't see anywhere that the standalone app was a trial and that they want something like $10 a year for it. It felt like a bait and switch. No, thank you.

It breaks two-finger swipe back navigation

Too confusing to use. The settings have very basic descriptions which makes adjusting them to get scrolling to function just how you like it extremely difficult to do. Found myself playing with the settings more than actually using it.

No longer works. Contacted developer and didn't get a reply.

I would give it 5 Stars for simplicity and usefulness, especially when repositioning videos to fit within a window in browsers. However, it's no longer working with the latest versions of Google Chrome.

Sometimes makes scrolling with mouse wheel not working. Also, please add an option for a little bump effect when you scroll to the very top or bottom of the page.

Nice Extension, but I'm afraid the IE preset is wrong to me. I am using custom:400,800,3,50,10,125 instead, with pulse algorithm enabled. This config is the TRUE IE style.

Scrolling on Linux on Chromium is really slow and broken, this fixed it for me

Amazing extension!

Works beautifully on every other site except YouTube. YouTube stutters and lags heavily and renders it almost unusable. Would not recommend if you are an avid user of YouTube.

Perfect. I was having issues with scrolling on browsers in Xubuntu/Ubuntu and this resolved the issues *easily*. I've had other solutions that were a pain, but this was stupid-easy. Very pleased. Thanks! And yes, HIT THE SAVE BUTTON.

Hi Dev! This is a pretty good extension with the customisation options it provides. I would request the developer to provide more presets- can you mimic the scrolling behaviour of windows into Linux Operating systems. On windows if I swipe the touchpad very slowly it scrolls very slowly but then if i scroll quickly it also accelerates quickly and If i drag and leave my hand in between, it follows logarithmic scrolling deceleration. Please tweak and configure and provide a 'Windows-like' preset for chromium based browsers on linux.

Extension itself is great but if constantly doesn't scroll smoothly. It's still better than the original scroll though.

Thank you, your a lifesaver! This FIXES scrolling in Linux, where browser scrolling is hopelessly slow! Works beautifully on most pages - not on all (e.g. this page), but a lot better than nothing. Haven't encountered any pages where it breaks scrolling, but if I do I can just add them to the blacklist.

This extension has been messing up some websites, disabling scrolling altogether. I'm happy I found out the culprit and finally disabled it. Some examples: UniFi Controller dashboard Commonstock social network

This is a fantastic extension. It saved me half a second every time I want to change page. The chrome default is horrible. Perfect for superusers and programmers.

Great extension. Does exactly what it says it does, and does it well. The custom settings are a nice touch, and is nice to be able to exclude specific webpages. Definitely deserves 5 stars!

Extension is complete and utter trash. Doesn't work on every website and the person who made it utterly has a hardon for Phones and their acceleration scrolling.

Real cool extension especially on the Mac, now any mouse can be used and it has the same feel as an apple mouse. I like how seamless it is on a windows program and doesn't make scrolling very jagged. I've tried a few other extensions and this is the best i've experienced so far. Highly recommended!

Exactly what I needed. Still wondering why hasn't google added this feature yet to Chrome, because without autosmooth scrolling feels weird, for instance with Firefox smooth scrolling is enabled by default and it makes a huge difference.

Generally it works under chrome v87.0.4280.88 (PC). Unfortunately it doesn't work if the page is loaded under another extension, say 'easyreader'. It is still a great app, for general surfing online.

Can't believe this isn't the default behavior of OS/browser. Keyboard scroll used to be so janky without this.

Have used this extensions for years, and it does *exactly* what it claims! Very nice, and recommended! There is a Win10 app available for purchase that brings these features to other programs on Windows. (There is a web page that opens when your browser first opens to remind you!)

A while after I downloaded it, all my extensions suddenly said they were corrupted and then chrome stopped working on my computer for a while. I'm not sure if this is because it has malware or something else, but it was a bit sketchy.

Smooth as butter. Please give us Firefox Settings in the SmoothScroll Options. It will be a big help for me.

This extension is a must download! I've been using it for years!

Pretty good since in Ubuntu for 4k Displays the scrolling is too slow, and imwheel interferes with some apps. However it doesn't work with Google Sheets and when ReaderMode is enabled.

This extension is great! There are even built-in profiles for you to choose from. If it didn't work, it will be because you did not save settings. You have to scroll down to press save settings.

Love it so far, very smooth

The extension settings are difficult to understand and coming to the rightful settings takes time. I quickly gave up, after seeing how laggy it kept being.

Great app in general, but I noticed one off set. When ever you scrolled up and down quickly, where you scrolled to would vary even if you scrolled the same amount.

Oh, wow! This is the magic that made the new Microsoft Edge Chromium browser usable. Truly amazing. Before I installed Smooth Scroll, my Logitech mouse would go from the top to the bottom of a web page with one click of the wheel. Maddening! You have ultimate control with Smooth Scroll. You can go as fast or slow, and as much or little of a page as you want, while scrolling. Thank you!

Chrome's normal scrolling just felt sluggish. I wanted Edge scrolling while using Chrome, this extension makes that possible.

Reaaaally!!! This app saved me from replacing my forcefully hammered laptop. Installed CromOS and my touchpad was a nightmare. The extention does beter than advertised. Download now.... and this My first ever review on anything.. Always the smallest tillte apps or applets that makes you happy isn't it.... Theres so much app garbage pilling and pilling and.... Disables the touchpad's default swipe left (previous page), and swipe right (next page) mouse gestures. These gestures work fine in Chrome when the addon is disabled. Otherwise a useful addon, nevertheless.

Loved it, so far the only site i have discovered an issue is Facebook. With SS on, its quite a laggy scrolling experience on FB. Once i exluded FB in settings, FB scrolling is back to normal.

I would have given this extension 5-stars, but it unfortunately 'disables' Chrome's horizontal scrolling feature (shift+mousewheel). This issue war reported nearly 3 yrs ago on GitHub and STILL it is NOT FIXED!! https://github.com/gblazex/smoothscroll/issues/148 Tweaking the settings and disabling keyboard support does not help. Such a shame! Can you please address this serious shortcoming Blaze?

The extension is very helpful. But there's some bugs decreasing the experience : it doesn't work all the time and I have to open the extension's options panel every time I start a new session on my browser. I don't understand why. I've uninstalled and installed it again, but still the same. Any idea to fix this ? By the way, it's the same on the windows app : I've got to open the options panel to see it working correctly again. Not really a big deal, but still ennoying. But good initiative and thanks anyway for this extension.

Excellent extension. Saved my buns on Linux where scrolling in Chrome is slow AF and there's no way to change it. Also adds middle click scrolling which Chrome on Linux doesn't have. Would like to be able to adjust scroll settings without needing to click "Save" every time, but still deserves 5 stars regardless.

Chrome told me that this extension is capturing my browsing history. I have a problem with that. There is no reason for a plugin like this to snoop on what I browse on the internet. I find this offensive enough that I had to report it for abuse.

I have to admit that my mouse has never scrolled smoother....

Used to be alright, but something changed and now it just causes more issues and I've found that it's ultimately just useless bloat in your browser. In my case it caused the scroll wheel to behave erratically; when straight down the whole page would jump up and down.

Doesn't respect my mouse settings of one page up or down at a time and if you enter a high value of 900-1000 it will randomly do one page at a time to some other distance and is completely unreliable. The default value is like 3 lines at a time. Windows 1903. Something is seriously off with this extension.

Scrolling long pages like the Reddit home page used to br erratic: Chrome could suddenly jump several pages downwards, without a reason. This actually fixed it, perfectly. Great. EDIT: nope, it didn't fix it. Chrome still suddenly jumps down on long pages, mostly ones with images.
