Would be great but my custom search engines disappear everytime I restart my browser. I've spent a great deal of time getting Search Center just right only to have it disappear. Anyone know how to prevent the search engines from disappearing? Are there similar extensions that work better?
A must have if you do lots of research
When I press Ctrl + Q ,The search center bar is glitching, sometimes it would pop multiple icons, sometimes it would show multiple search bars
Could be improved if Search Center was accessible from the URL bar. For example, in the URL bar I could type "sc car" and then searchcenter will search the term car on all of the search engines configured.
Great idea, but doesn't open most of the time and a lot of search engines cannot be used if they don't have a search result page (for example the search bar uses a dropdown list)
Fantastic extension - thank you so much! Currently the default search is supposed to be the first item on the list, but this doesn't work when the first item on the list is a group [of search engines]. If it isn't too much trouble, would you mind adjusting this feature to accommodate groups as the default search? Thanks!
To make sure you don't lose your search engines, use the "Export Engines" in the "Manage Engines" and save the text file for backup.
Excellent extension. I can't live without it! Would you be able to add an option to search multiple engines at the same time and open them in their own tabs? Maybe add a checkbox to select the desired engines. If so, I'd gladly give you more stars once I figure out how. LOL
I had to give three stars as until last week it was AWESOME. It's gone from completely reliable, to incredibly annoying. For some reason, I click to search and WAIT abnormally long, so perhaps it's myself I'm more annoyed with. My pc was down temporarily, so found myself double clicking, hitting enter etc... Ugh. Alright, not sure what happened as I don't see any other adverse reviews, but hoping it can be fixed or I'll have to figure something else out. My laptop treats Chrome like the enemy as it wants me to use pre-installed Bing etc... so couldn't use the existing search box and was thrilled to find your handiwork. I've never written a review for an extension, rarely use them, but... Thanks in advance for the fix! ~Elizabeth
Unlike the reviewer below, I've had no problems with it. Tried many search extensions and this is the best search method I've found. Allows you to use any search engines rather than confining you to certain ones. Easy to add hard to add search using the "searchcenter" keyword.
Can't reliably get Search Center window to pop up. Sometimes it opens after I've typed something in the Omnibox, sometimes not, sometimes on empty new tabs, sometimes not.
kinda slow, pops after over 1s
A great extension. It would be very good to add an option to have a possibility to change the order of search engines in options → manage engines to improve it yet. Thank you very much.
Its not using my search engines already defined in chrome and imported from firefox i do not want to make a lot of new engines all over again
Please add the ability to add more than 30 engines!! Not enough!
very useful and very easy,Please add an option that u can search group of engines in the same tabs instead of opening in new tabs would be great, thanks.
very useful, I hope the author will continue to maintain it
The best extension for searching anything 5 STARS
On its own, it's nice to be able to select different search engines quickly; but the real usefulness is in its "folders" option. You can add multiple search engines to a "folder" and when you search/click that folder, it'll open a tab for each of the engines. This is *super* helpful when I'm doing product research & need to open 3-4 different sites every time I want to look at a product details or price.
I love this, thank you
Okay this is a great idea!!
I am having the same issue with Andrew, please fix it. Thanks!! update: i found a way to get around the issue. 1) update to the latest chrome. 2) under the extension setting find the search center. 3) from there is an option link that can avoid crashing it. only available in new chrome.
Has become buggy for some reason; can't edit the engines or go to settings from the app button; have to access editing and options by going to Chrome's Settings first, and then to Extensions. Trying to edit the engines or options from the app button seems to corrupt the app; it then no longer works and has to be restored; last time this happened I lost all my engines.
This extension takes multiple page search to the next level. It takes some effort to setup the engines you use, but all that work pays off when you search a term in multiple engines with just 1-2 clicks.
good ext
it takes some time to figure out. works brilliantly.
The description is somewhat misleading. To be clear: This extension only searches ONE engine at a time, not several at once. What would be actually useful is that you could type one search term and the extension opens search results from different engines in different tabs. The extension only searches in the "default" search engine, or the one engine you select via a click in the moment of your search. You still have to open search 10 times (open a tab, click on extension, click on icon of the search engine) if you wish to search in 10 search engines. That is sort of pointless, we can do that efficiently with Chrome's standard functionality. Hence, the extension does not provide any real benefit.
very good. thanks.
Disappointing. Needed something to let me access my own installed search engines without the shortcut nonsense. Instead, I would have to re-enter and delete to reconfigure this on top of already configuring search engines in Chrome / Chromium. Why? Suspicious.
Almost perfect, but sometimes, search engines are duplicated when I click the right mouse button.
very simple and easy to use
Great extension. Would be nice if it had an option to open the results in foreground.
The most complete and efficient search extension!
Nice design. I'd love to be able to reorganize (and hide some) engines once they're in groups. To have the tabs open the order I want, not alphabetically with the engine name. Other than that, it works great!
It does everything it needs to!
Could be a good extension, but try typing something in the search bar and the auto-suggestions box covers out your own typing. Also, when you've searched something it should take you to the finds page. When was the last update? The site only shows version numbers, but I have no idea which version I'm on, or when it was released. What will the next improvements and fixes be? I'll check back to see if the above are fixed and I might install it again then, but I'm deleting it for the time being.
Perfect for my needs. Probably one of the best extensions available. A feature request - allow searching for terms (and highlighting them in different colors) in the search key in the pages that are loaded. This functionality was part of the old Google Toolbar for IE and FireFox.
The best for searching multiple websites at once!
Search groups are awesome. So is the ability to import/export all the sites. Thanks for this extension, it's very handy.
Really nice. Adds a lot of functionality to Chrome. I wish when I opened it for the first time each day, it would put the cursor in the box where I type the subject of my search. But still, just simply great.
Very nice tool; all it needs now is 1) synchronization via google docs 2) ability to open search tab in foreground
The idea is great. However drag 'n drop doesn't work (I'm on Lion) so I can't rearrange engines or move to the trash. And when I open Option this message appears: "No webpage was found for the web address: chrome-extension://ndfplmdnbnefomnjiknbpejdceedhdmf/"
I have been using it for years, I find it indespensable. However it has an annoying problem with chrome 18 and above: The focus is no longer on the input field of the pop-up. Please fix!
I really like this search app! Coming from Firefox, I miss having one on the page. But it does not seem to work with Etsy. Etsy will come up but the search isn't entered.
An absolutely indispensable tool. Allows you to search across myriad websites with two clicks. You need this!
its a very good search with a good visual style and easy options, like it
Greate. The group function is what i am seeking. But on the newest chromium it works not so good.
Great extension, it does what it says on the tin.
the suggestions block the input box, But nice options on this, just get that fixed if you want to be the go to search
changes default menu got installed without permission like a spyware
