It was fantastic. RIP Jan 2023. Google has done something with Chrome so this doesn't work anymore.

Best Extension ever ?
This does nothing. There are no instructions on how to change the aspect ratio and by itself it does nothing.
i tried many extensions to hide black bars on youtube videos.. nothing worked.. but this one worked perfectly.
fits for 1280x1024 laptop / monitors too

Been using this for years and it never lets me down. Excellent extension, thank you! I love being able to stretch the video to match whatever monitor size I'm on, or to remove the black bars from older videos. This works PERFECT, and has many options to choose form. Great job.
half of the options are unavailable due to the button and the pop up menu being on the far right of the player, cutting off half of the options.

This is one of the best extensions of all time, been using it for a few years now and dread the day it stops working because people STILL upload stretched widescreen footage and other aspect ratio oddities, I can't do without it. I also use it to crop videos to fit my browser window (in conjunction with another extension that fits the video dimensions to your display like a psuedo-fullscreen within Chrome, a common feature in many YouTube enhancement extensions) when appropriate eg solo podcasts with a centered host, no more letterboxing!

I`m very happy found this extension. We can choose from loads of options, stretch only Width or only Height or both.. nice,nice,nice. Improvements I could imagine is that the percent of the zoom is fully editable and this extension could be supported on Netflix too.
It'd be a brilliant addition to anyone who loves movies - It doesn't work - icon remains grey and in a nut shell " out of service " . I'm using the iron browser - so it shouldn't be an issue ?

Really good if you have 21:9 3440 x 1440P monitors Just wished he releases a Netflix one because I haven't seen anyone which stretches the video horizontally, it's always zoom to fill in the gap.

With this Youtube Aspect Ratio Control, would the ratio controls be the same if downloading it from Youtube itself? Otherwise its a very good tool if you don't to see any watermarks on the bottom of the youtube videos.
This is great for when you are watching YouTube uploads that are squeezed or widened in an odd way, the presets are just right to fix the aspect ratio, it's not very glitchy or buggy, and works like a charm!

What an amazing app, I looked up "add on for youtube aspect ratio" totally thinking it would be a pointless search because I've never found anything similar in the past even though I've looked for similar things several times before. Seriously I love this, I feel compelled to write this review and I literally just found this less than an hour ago. Maybe there's others like it and I look silly, but I haven't seen them before. I just wish there were an app like this for everything. Too soon to report any bugs, only criticism I have are basically just suggestions. Maybe add the ability to crop videos as well, like you can in VLC, make the list of aspect ratios tell you what they if possible, I know some of those would be pretty long and it might just work better to show it when you hover over it. Maybe use a short name for the ones that don't fit and label the rest as "16:9 > 4:3" and so on. This is fantastic though, should have been a thing a long time ago, and by youtube themselves even. It's very annoying how little control you have over how you can play videos on youtube, so I really do love this add-on.

Works beautifully. But I wish there is an option to set preferred aspect ratio permanently without having to choose preferred aspect ratio every time playing a video.
Thank you so much. People stretching 4:3 footage to widescreen 16:9 is an epidemic. One thing i'd like added is that instead of writing percentages and hiding the names of the aspect ratios on mouse hover, just list the actual changes as the buttons instead.

I have a 5:4 monitor and when I play 4:3 videos I get black bars at the top and the bottom of the screen. I love that full screen feeling and it is weird that YouTube doesn't have that feature as default. Luckily, I found this extension and it solved my problem.
